    Grilled White Fish

Im not exactly sure why the ratings for this place is low, but we dined in on a Saturday around 1230 pm and had a great experience. Our server was attentive, food came out on time. Would recommend the spinach dip, better than others that Ive tried. Got the grilled white fish- nothing too special about that, bit too salty for my liking. I tried my brother's order of ribs and I liked the flavor and how soft it was. My son almost finished his cheeseburger which doesnt happen too often. Overall, the menu prices are pretty good actually, considering that most meals had two sides. And dont forget the fresh croissants they give out! Taking out a star because it was so easy for my son to purchase a game on the Zoosk tablet.

BIG THANK YOU to Kierra for making my favorite drink. It was amazing and her customer service is outstanding...

We were in the Embassy Suites San Antonio Landmark area, so we visited @cheddarskitchen for lunch yesterday. Love the complimentary Honey Croissants. Dad and I shared the Ribs and Shrimp with mashed potato and a side salad. Hubby had the Country Fried Steak with mashed potato and corn. The ribs were tender. Both dishes were decent and Sahara got us in and out of there in no time. If you need some lunch in the area, go check it out!

Tonight we decided to go to Cheddar's. This is my first time being here. I was really impressed with the decor it's very warming and has a nice feel. It has a fish tank in between the bar and dinning area. They gave us buttered croissants we ordered the queso chips and salsa. Chips were okay and the salsa was good the queso reminded me of nacho cheese. I ordered the half rack of ribs with chicken tenders. I also got the side Caesar salad. My wife got the grilled chicken Alfredo. The salad was good with a decent amount of dressing the croutons were very good. The ribs were all off the bone and a good size the portions weren't small at all which was nice and we had left overs. Our waitress was super nice and friendly. She made sure that we were well taken care of.

Excellent! Just excellent! I had to order from out of town for another person. The order went in at 9:15pm, to be ready at 9:38pm. I worried because when a restaurant is due to close 20 minutes after your meal pick up... Well, usually that means old end-of-the-day scraps. The young lady who brought it to the car was very nice. This meal was par excellence. Even the croissants were warm. Thank you for such good service and food.

I'd avoid the burger though because it didn't seem like it was made from fresh, quality ground beef.

Their burgers were not good at all. The patty seemed like it was a frozen patty and not made from fresh ground beef. However, my friends fried fish fillets were very moist and tasty.

Came here to eat and had a drink with my classmates after our final exam. Love the food here! Their shrimps are perfectly cooked as always. I especially came here for their watermelon margarita! And of course their butter croissant is amazing! Our server is very nice and friendly. I always have a nice experience in this location.

So I read the reviews of this Cheddar location before entering to eat. I was craving some soup and wanted to just have a quick meal. Upon entering, we went right around 11am yesterday. It wasn't busy at all which was nice. I told my waiter that I came in just to have some bowls of soup. She kind of seem irritated at me because we just wanted soups. Once my soup was finished, I wanted to eat something light. So I used the kiosk and ordered a kids Alfredo Pasta. My waiter comes back and explains to me that she got in trouble from me ordering a kids meal. She explains this to me as she gives me my pasta. She said the manager wrote her up because customers cannot buy pasta if they are under 12. After all this commotion, I didn't eat the pasta. It really rubbed me the wrong way because the manager should have come to talk to me about it and not the waiter. My waiter didn't do anything wrong, plus every one is short staff. This lady is here trying to work and make a living too. Plus the whole purpose of ordering off a kiosk is to make it easier for the waiters! So I was curious and I went to see if Anyone could order off the kids menu through the app. YOU CAN! So pretty much anyone can order of this menu at anytime without knowing if you are under 12. I am a Cheddars fan and I just wouldn't come back to this location in particular.

I've been here a few times and have never really been impressed. The food we have had is blah. Out service has been ok. The times I have been here the floor and tables have been messy. Not sure I'll be back.

We were seated right away, we chose the chef's table because we had already eaten dinner at home, but just wanted to go out for a stroll around the pearl and grab some dessert. We ordered the lemon blueberry Panna cotta and not only is it delicious but it's also beautiful! It looks like a work of art. I ordered one of their craft beers and we got some french fries on the side just to offset the sweet. Definitely a great dessert if you are not wanting something too sweet or two filling. We also had the snapper throats and loved them. The aioli was a great sauce with them. I had the gulf catch of the day, which was grouper, and it was so good. Great seasoning, perfectly flaky and moist, a nice crust on the outside. With that we had some jalapeno corn bread which was also delicious. Not too dry at all. I was hoping for it to be spicy but it was not. For dessert, I gad panna cotta and it was a great ending. Not too sweet, but the berries made up for that. The lavender meringue bites had a great crunch. Our server (Maya) was excellent. She was so friendly and helpful. Finally, the decor is unmatched anywhere. It used to be a brewery and they kept the old pipes and valves, which look very cool. It has a great vibe. I highly recommend. Without the need to, I'll mention anyway that it's not cheap. But it's worth it.

For a starter we shared the cornbread with another couple and it was plenty for 4 people. If you are from out of town and looking for some Texas-shaped vittles or just want something substantial to stretch your meal I recommend it! Very tasty and filling. For my main I had the scallops with creamed corn risotto. It was a dainty portion but the flavors were nice. My husband had the short rib tagliatelle which he loved. It was very rich and filling. We had the buttermilk pie again for dessert and this time it tasted sweeter than I remembered. It was good but we couldn't finish it. Idk if it was my tastebuds or if it was different. Tres Leches was beautiful. 4/5. I like the fresh fruits to cut down the sweetness. The cake was a bit in the dense side. The icing on top was thick. The cabbage was somewhat spicy, the cornbread muffin was a half muffin, the muffin did not fill up the cupcake muffin wrapper. But the fried catfish, fried chicken wings and yams were on point, I would order the catfish and chicken wing plate to go anyday! The peach cobbler was very sweet. My daughter ordered meatloaf, a pork chop plate, Mac & cheese, collard greens, cornbread muffin, a tropical punch beverage and banana pudding which I felt the pudding was watered down vs. being thick. She asked for medium cooked pork chops and one pork chop was medium and one pork chop was over cooked. She notified the cashier and he stated they both were cooked at temp the same time. The collard greens were spicy and the Mac & cheese were watered down. I had to go to the restroom. This was the worst restroom in any restaurant I have ever used. First, there was no light on, I had to ask for light and one of the employees turned on the light. Secondly, there was an awful hole in the top right corner ceiling, I was afraid to use the restroom for fear of some bug crawling in through the ceiling hole. Third, there was also a hole in the wall visible behind the toilet tank top, again I was afraid to set down on the toilet and the whole bathroom decor was unappealing. When other patrons described this establishment as as "HOLE IN THE WALL" they were absolutely correct. Don't forget about the hole in the ceiling! Entering into the building, the walls and ceiling were black, making the atmosphere sad. There was also a small bar to the left of the dining area. So on our Travels to Riverwalk. My neice said we should try there. So we did. And from the moment we stepped out of the car we knew we found our place. The delicious smell of hardwood smoke. Pulled us in the door quicker then a Texas tornado. When we walked in the front door. We were instantly greeted by friendly people. Making us feel right at home, although home was nearly 2000 miles away. Then we ordered our food. And then the gentleman taking my order asked if i was either active duty or military veteran or emergency response personel. And that speaks very loud with me. My father being a disabled vietnam veteran. This tyoe of respect is hard to find in todays world so i solute them for that. Now i am a bbq connoisseur. I went with the beef brisket, pulled pork and two sides. My wife got the same. I had the fried okra and the mac and cheese for mybsides. My wife went with the mac and cheese and fries. Our 8 year old decided to go with the chicken tenders and french fries. Our food came out just as i had sat down with my sweet iced tea. And my wife and sons lemonade. Our family has traveled to just about every state east of the Mississippi river. Trying the off the beaten path diners and restaurants. And have had bbq in about half of them states. And i will say this. The brisket was hands down the best brisket i have ever had. Not to dry but not watered down with artificial flavorings. Just the mouth watering taste or beef cooked low and slow over the hardwood fire fueled by the split chunks of wood stacked out back. The way it should be done. My only complaint was that my stomach wasnt big enough to finish. The pulled pork was just as tastey. Again cooked over open fire and smoke. Just the way the wagonmasters of Texans past. The sides were just as deliscious. Perfectly breaded and fried golden brown okra. Dipped in their house bbq/ranch dressing. The thought of this is making my mouth water a week later. And i thought i made the best mac and cheese. Well thanks alot but you proved me wrong. I really wish i would have got a to go bag for the roadtrip home. I will tell everyone i know that if they go to San Antonio, and they dont go to The Smoke Shack bbq on broadway, it could quite be the biggest mistake of their lives. On a scale of 1-10, 10 being the absolute best i have ever had. I give it a SOLID 9.9! If i wver make it back to San Antonio, I know where i am going to eat.

It is the perfect stop after showing friends and family the Alamo and the River Walk before heading back home. Just be prepared for a line because every time we have gone, there is usually one. It moves, but it is definitely part of the experience. Our go to items are always the lip smacking brisket. We order a pound of regular and a quarter pound of lean. Both are tender and flavorful. The ribs and sausage are also solid choices. For sides, we rotate between the well seasoned green beans, mac and cheese, beans and okra. All of them are excellent and you really cannot go wrong. Side note. I am not a fan of their corn. I prefer corn that leans sweet rather than spicy, so it is not my favorite. Next time I go, I already know what I want to try. Either the Brisket Sandy or the Brisket Grilled Cheese. Both look incredible.
