Worst meal I've ever had in a restaurant in Houston,Texas. We ordered the blackened catfish, and the dijon chicken. The "blackened catfish" was actually pan sauteed, with a sprinkling of cajun spice, and the "dijon chicken" was grilled chicken with honey-mustard salad dressing on it!! The catfish was undercooked, and the chicken was over-cooked. When we complained to the waitress, she checked in the kitchen, and they told her that "that's the way they do it here." Really? Pan-cooked chicken is "blackened"? And salad dressing on dijon chicken? The manager was "away" so I couldn't complain. We paid our bill without eating, and went to another restaurant. Never again!! read more

Ordered Chicken pot pie. It was hot, fresh made croissant over the bowl. The filling was hot, juicy chicken bites with carrots and green peas and a few other vegetables I don't recall. My mum ordered chicken fried steak with baby carrots and green beans. All her good came out hot and fresh. It took no more than 15-20 for our food to arrive. We came there on Wednesday at 5:00 for an early dinner. The place was spare but filled in quickly when we began eating. The service was fast and polite. read more

Woke up this morning with the New Orleans Pasta on my mind, plus had to drive almost thirty minutes to get there. To receive my meal and wasn't hot, basically my meal was cold. The waitress who waited on us later identified as Bianca she was excellent. Manager came by the table really didn't say anything to acknowledge what happened about me receiving a cold meal, I was really disappointed and he didn't do anything to make the visit any better. read more

Went into Cheddar's today for a monthly meeting. Our service started out pretty good but then went down hill. My friend and I both ordered drinks from the bar and 1 appetizer to share. After our drinks arrived I ordered a salad , my friend was going to get a take out order but the service came to a complete stop. We sat in the booth talking for over a hour before either of us realized nobody had come by our table. The floor managers (Josh & Taylor) were on the floor but neither came to our table. We quickly realized that our server had in fact clocked out and left the building, without informing us that we could 1.) close out the tab or 2.) offer his table to another server(later we found out he had, but she too forgot about us). So while waiting we notice Josh go to the table behind us and ask "how is everything?" He then skips our table and goes to another table and ask the same question. Meanwhile Taylor is laughing and smiling at a young lady at the bar. So now we're 1 1/2 hour into no service AND being passed by both managers and several servers. So now I'm asking for the highest manager in the restaurant. Not realizing it would take another 10 minutes for someone to come. So out comes Josh and he goes to the table behind us yet again asking if everything was ok. They inform him that yes indeed everything is ok, he then looks around to other tables to see where the "manager seekers" where, I said that I'd requested to see him. Now let me say this, I've waited tables for many years and have been the trainee as well as the trainer. So I'm speaking from experience. I proceeded to explain the situation to him and instead of him apologizing and correcting, he tries to defend the wrong. I informed him that I've waited tables so how we were handled(or the lack of) was very poor. He offered to personal assure that my dear friends food would be made w/priority in which she declined. He removed the food from our ticket but made us pay for the drinks(horrible decision-making). Once the ticket was corrected, he simply dropped it off at the table and kept moving. He issued a half apology(upon his first time to the table) but nothing more. So against our better judgment we paid for our drinks. Before leaving I stopped at the hostess stand to ask for contact information to corporate. She brings Josh to the front and he has a receipt(not even mine) with the store phone number on it. Claiming it's a franchise and the general manager is the only information he has. By this point I'm furious and offended so I snatch the paper from him and leave. Our organization was planning to hold our monthly board meetings here, but that will never happen. The service was beyond poor. I will tell everybody I know to refrain from coming into this particular location. There needs to be a complete overhaul from management on down to wait staff. I'm hoping the general manager will read this but if the people I came into contact with today are a representation of whomever he/she maybe I've got high hopes. read more

Left without even ordering. Young waiter was less than enthusiastic about someone showing up. Sat me in the loudest section of the restaurant and said something very quietly. I asked him to repeat himself and he again was unintelligible. I asked him again and he just shrugged his shoulders and walked away. Suffice it to say, I simply got up and walked out. read more

Don't ever come here . Like took me 15 minutes to see a waiter . Then he brought me my appetizer first. And I had no drink yet . Finished the whole appetizer with no drink . Finally got our drinks . I came here today around 4 & as soon as i walked in the hostess looked sleep so my family & i had to seat ourselves. Once we sit down we get a server (His name was kevin) & i never learned his name until he told another group of people that were eating here as well. He seemed as though he did not want to be serving us. We would ask for something & every time he took a long time to get it. Apart from him the croissants we received cold, the butter was not melted, the fries were not good, there was also a lady sweeping around us while we were eating, the atmosphere was not upbeat, the vibe from the whole restaurant. I was very displeased. read more

BEWARE of hostile hostess! We went to Cheddar's for 4th of July dinner with 11 of our friends. As we were told with a large party, we would be split up to 2 tables (restaurant policy only allows 8 per table) which was fine with us. As the hostess took us to our first table, the customers seated next to us were kind enough to offer to move to a different table such that both our tables will be next to each other. The waiter volunteered to combine the tables, which was great because we thought they were being considerate to accommodate us. After we were seated, the hostess snarled at us saying "I told you our policy only allowed 8 per table". It was obviously shocking to us because it wasn't something that we requested. The manager had to come by to diffuse the situation. As we were leaving the restaurant, she told us "I know what I'm doing" even after all the conversations earlier. This is unacceptable! Despite all the conversations, she just refused to admit her mistake of blaming us for abusing the restaurant policy. How could the restaurant tolerate this attitude of the hostess when they are the first to "welcome" you to the restaurant! Needless to say our appetites were ruined after the incident and things did not improve at the end. This certainly would be the last time we'd be visiting this restaurant! Hope your experience is more pleasant than ours. read more

FYI: THERE IS A 12% CHARGE INCLUDED TO ALL TO GO ORDERS. THIS IS ALMOST AS MUCH AS YOU WOULD GIVE A SERVER WHO SPENDS ANYWHERE FROM 45MIN - AN HOUR OR MORE OF SERVICE TO YOU WHILE YOU ARE EATING. There aren't any dishes to wash, tables to clean, etc. So why the MANDATORY charge? a long time (now disappointed) customer. read more

I really have to complement the staff today. Not only did our food come out great, but for a table of 10 during a busy lunch hour, we experienced great service. Horrible waitstaff! All of them was just joking around with each other likes if it's junior high. I don't even think a manager works there. Everyone we go the staff is all over the place, unorganized, playing around with each other and don't take their job seriously. Won't be returning. read more

The service was awful. The waiter spilled drinks on the table and didn't bother to clean it up. It was a large group and the orders were getting confused. one of the few places you can still get a monte cristo sandwich, and it's absolutely fabulous. they fry it golden brown, the cheese is melted, the meat is soft, and it is just dripping with oil, so bring your own defibrillator, slap those stickers on, and eat til you black out. read more

So I went in yesterday afternoon to have dinner. I gave the hostess my name, phone number, and number of people in my party. I was told we would receive a text message when our table was ready and it should take about 10-15 minutes so I was welcome to go outside if I wanted. About 20 minutes passed and I still didn't get a text so I went inside to check. So my name war removed from the list and when I ask the manager why her response was " well I came outside to look for you." My question in all of this is 1. Why ask for my phone number if your not going to use it. And 2. How in the world is this manager still working here because she is rude, loud and unpleasant. Once we waited another 10 minutes we were finally seated. It took 30 to get out drink order and another 20 minutes to get our appetizer. My overall experience was not that great. I've been to this location multiple times but I don't think I will be going back. read more

I visited the West Park Cheddar's location on Wednesday of this week with a friend after work. I often frequent this location. The food was good and I thought the server was great at that time. We even complimented him for his service to his manager. Unfortunately little did I know that he was going to later change the tip I entered on my receipt and write in his OWN amount. This is NOT ok and is THEFT!! I will not be returning to this establishment. I went online to review my bank transactions as usual and noticed the amount was much higher than I had authorized. I immediately contacted Cheddar's and spoke to management on this morning and received an apology and was advised that they would credit me back the difference that was added to the original tip. It wasn't about the money but more about the PRINCIPAL. I mentioned that this is THEFT and the manager stated he is aware of that and they have a strict policy regarding this type of behavior from servers and the server will be disciplined. His response as a manager in my opinion wasn't satisfactory to me as a CUSTOMER! I felt as though the ordeal was down played and appears to be a normal business practice based on the type of mediocre response I received. DO NOT GO HERE BUT IF YOU MUST PLEASE CHECK YOUR BANK TRANSACTIONS AND KEEP A COPY OF YOUR CUSTOMER RECEIPT or SIMPLY USE CASH! This is definitely BAD BUSINESS and makes CHEDDAR's look BAD! You have lost a faithful customer. I wonder how many customers have been ROBBED by this server and possibly other servers!! Pathetic read more

My whole purpose of placing a 'To Go' order Saturday night was to be in and out within a reasonable time, with my order hot and fresh so that my husband and I could enjoy dinner in the comfort of our own home. Did that happen? Of course not! I understand that they're busy on the weekends so we went to the bar to place our orders and have a drink while we waited. Well, 45 minutes and two drinks later, still no food and we watched dine-in patrons come right in and get their food within minutes. Once our food finally came out, my hubby had to ask the server if the food sitting in the corner was our order. "Oh yeah...that yours but we're still waiting on one more item buddy"...seriously dude??? I was almost livid but the glass of wine helped calm me down. For as long as we waited, we should have just dined there and at least our food would have been hot and not stiff like it was when we got home! read more

Arrived here at 6:30 didn't receive my drink until 7:15. While others didn't receive their drinks until 8:07. Also several tables who arrived after us received their food before and the table behind us who arrived 45 minutes after us received their food at the same time as us so do the math. Mind you our server sis take the time to tell us how someone tried to fight her after she made them wreck their car, at this point I just want my food. Fast forward we get the food, my friends fries were cold, my broccoli and rice casserole had macaroni in it, and we didn't receive silverware or napkins until our food was near gone. I have never received service like this in my life. If you come to this restaurant please pack your patience because I promise you will be here for at 2 hours before you can leave. The only thing positive about this whole experience is the manager did come to talk to us and was very sweet about everything, but experience was unacceptable. read more

I recently had a trip to Houston and was staying across the road. For the entire week I dined at Cheddars. The food was fantastic and had a great price!! The service on the other hand... not so much. There was one host that was actually welcoming when we walked through the door, a tall guy, otherwise they acted like we were an annoyance (especially the two girls). Of all the days there we had two great servers, Jasmine and Kevin. The other servers were absolutely terrible. If I'm ever back in that area of Houston, I'd go back but I'd request to be in Jasmine's section. read more

First, let me say that we have eaten at other Cheddar's and loved the food and the experience. We will go back, just not to this location. This was our first time at this location and it was a disaster. We were seated immediately upon entering, so they were not that busy for a Friday night. The noise level was so loud that it made conversation nearly impossible. I wonder what it would have been like if they had been crowded. When the waitress brought the menu, I asked about Gluten Free and she informed me that they have NO gluten free food. Wow! That made me wonder. I eat gluten free because of a gluten intolerance. I ended up ordering a hamburger with no bun, just to be safe. We received our food about 50 minutes after ordering. My hamburger was cold and dry and there was nothing but shredded lettuce, a slice of pickle and 2 small tomato slices. She left before I could ask for mustard or mayo. I finally got some mustard about 10 minutes later. My husband ordered a steak. His food was also cold. She forgot his gravy and by the time he got it, his food was beyond cold. I did not eat mine, but immediately asked for a To-go box. My dog will love it. You would think she might have asked why. That did not happen. A gentleman came by and asked if everything went well. I said no & mentioned the cold food and long wait for it. He immediately left and never came back. I think I already mentioned that we will not return to this location of Cheddar's. read more

Moments ago I called in to try and place a Togo order. I was unable to get anyone on the line to take an order. My family and I were staying across the street at the Marriott so I decided just to drive on over and order at the restaurant. Upon arrival, there were 4-5 people standing at the hostess stand. 3 were gossiping about a server seating customers himself while I just stood there. Also to note, while I was standing there for approximately 3-4 minutes the phone was ringing off the hook and everyone simply ignored the phone. I'm happy to know that customer service is the number one priority of this establishment. I had to ask for a menu to place my Togo order and when I went to order they told me they don't take Togo orders. I understand if that isn't their role and it's completely fine. They sent me to the bar to order but the way they did was just completely unprofessional, I guess that's how you are treated with a bunch of kids working though. The only highlight on the positive end was when I went to the bar I was greeted promptly and timely. The gentleman behind the bar were tentative and I appreciated that. read more

If I could give 0 stars I would. The food was terrible, the service was even worse. My server "Keith" took our orders and we literally didn't see him for the rest of the night. We were sat down without silverware and waited 20 minutes until we asked another server for silverware, and she jokingly said we couldn't have any. The appetizers were cold ! but we didn't complain about that. Once the food was brought out about 40 minutes later we noticed several mistakes. The order was wrong, cold, and missing several things. I stopped the manager to tell her that the order was wrong, and she brought everything out, and replaced the cold food. At this point we just wanted the check and to go boxes. Also I mentioned to "Keith" I needed ranch for my salad lol I never received it. "Keith" sat the check on the table and walked away before we could tell him it was supposed to be separated. So once again i stopped the manager and she handled it. While we were waiting for the manager to come back with the split checks another server walks up and try to grab the money off the table and says "y'all ready", I was appalled because we had never seen him and he just tried to take the payment from off the table we didn't even have the check sitting there. The manager finally came back with the split checks and a discount of $4 for the horrible service.... yes $4. Usually when i go to this location it's great, but last night they were a mess and i wouldn't recommend anyone spend their hard working money there. I told them to look forward to my review and they can also look forward to a phone call. read more

Been to several others Cheddar's and the food, service was rather good. This location could use some training to educate the staff on proper customer service. Service was very slow and inaccurate. Where do I begin, well since the moment we set foot into this restaurant we had a terrible experience. We received a text message notifying us that our table was ready, we quickly closed our tab out at the bar and we're at the hostess stand within 2 minutes. There we were rudely greeted and told by the hostess, "Look at y'all coming up all late." After a few minutes of contemplating whether we would get seated we were directed to a table that had dishes on it but were told, "don't worry it's clean." Then the waitress Tiana .. As we ordered our food I asked for a substitute for a side on my dish but when the food was presented I was told there was no more. So then I asked for something else to replace the side but was told "I hope you know sides are extra," so I just ate the meal that was brought. Tiana never came to check on our table, never once brought us a refill and when it came time to pay, slammed the check holder without saying anything. Tiana did not ask us how we would like to be charged and rang us up incorrectly. I let Tiana know of her mistake and she was extremely disrespectful bickering back and forth causing a scene. Never have I ever received such terrible service. Do not come here! read more

This restaurant has HORRIBLE service. I mean horrible. please do not come here, you would basically just be paying to get treated badly.

I used to come here almost every other week! I've had about 95% of the menu. They give you large servings for what I think is a great price. After eating most of what they have to offer, I think the food is good. Customer service is a little off though. I usually get the 8oz sirloin cooked rare, with Idaho mashed potatos and the brocoli and cheese casserole. The reason I give them 3 stars instead of 4 is because of the recent overcooked steaks and poorly trained waiters I've had. Overall, if you're looking for a cheap restaurant with good food for the price, this is the place to go. Try the honey butter crossaints though, you wont be dissapointed! ;) read more

Service was pretty good, but I think our server was the only one who was happy to be working there. The rest of the staff moved sssllooowly. The food was so-so and definitely not high quality food, but what you'd expect for a chain. I had New Orleans pasta which wasn't spicy enough for my taste. We had an appetizer platter which was okay for what it was. I was overwhelmed by how BAD it smelled in their bar area. It smelled like it had been wiped down with a dirty rag. I almost gagged and I'm not an over reactor so it must have been really bad! read more

I have been to this location before and was excited about being back. However, this time was very unpleasant. It took so long to get our food which was ok cause we weren't starving but I heard other guest talking about it also. My table ordered tenders and grilled shrimp and steak (medium) and fried shrimp. The grilled shrimp were not regular grilled shrimp. They are bourbon shrimp that I was not happy with. The are served over small rice and the rice was also covered in the sauce. They should have mention at the time of order. The second plate with the medium steak had blood running out of it. After cutting into it a few times the steak was definitely a rare steak. I informed the waitress who said she needed to call the manager over, ok, he showed up with a plate and said can you just put it on the plate and we can cook it more for you. What!! I asked my lunch date would you like to have a new steak instead obviously my guest didn't want to bother so it was ok just to keep cooking it but the manager should have asked and not me!!!! He came back with the steak in pieces and this time it was better. I was so unhappy that their customer service was not at 100%!!!! I left with most of my food in a to go box due to I didn't even get to enjoy my meal while there from being unsatisfied. read more

My wife and I were looking forward to a dinner after a visit to the doctor. We went to the Cheddars on Highway 6 and University. We are both senior citizens. When we entered the restaurant and stood by the greeting podium, the pretty young black girl completely ignored us, then walked around the podium to open the door to a group of very young men in their teens or early 20's who were leaving. It took a while for her to sit us down, and then we were never waited on. We walked out after waiting for almost 15 minutes. We were greatly disappointed When we left, we saw who I think should have been our waiter leaning against the wall near the podium talking to the pretty young black girl. We voiced our displeasure but not any of them apologized or said anything to us. It was as if they didn't care. They don't deserve the 1 star I have to give them. If I could give this place less than 1 stars I would. Absolutely terrible experience. We were sat and had to wait 20 minutes before we even saw our server. After he finally took our order we waited another 20 minutes before he comes back to tell us the system was down and our food won't be cooked since the order wasn't placed. Then he shows no initiative to fix this and after we said we would leave and asked for the check for our drinks he told us he couldn't print a check and we should just leave and not worry about it. Completely laze service and terrible experience. I will NEVER go back to that location again read more
