This place is trash! Staff is so rude. First time dining in at this location and haven't even been sat yet and i know i will not be returning. Two could eat for under $20 and may have some food leftover. The croissants are the bomb. My favorite meal is the blackened catfish with the Cajun seasoning. The sides are all really good especially the the broccoli cheese casserole. If you have room for dessert you have to try the Cookie Monster. I haven't had anything on their menu that I did not like. Excellent friendly and professional service, friendly staff keeps refilling your soft drinks, even homemade lemonade and sodas. The food has always been of consistent quality then menus has a wide variety of American favorite. Classy interior, spotlessly clean and I have never bee disappointed with anything I ordered. I love the food at Cheddars but was a bit let down tonight at this location. The food was great as always - their monte Christo is the best I've had ever and so is the broccoli cheese casserole. Their honey mustard and ranch are epic and so are their honey butter biscuits (but I still wish those came as an automatic free appetizer like they used to) However. We had really bad service tonight. It took over 10 minutes to get our drinks and mine (the texas tea) was clearly watered down (compared to the other several locations I've visited) and the server was extremely inattentive. I understand being busy but we were one of three not demanding tables he had and it was awful. I know the hostesses are cute but leave them alone and run my freaking credit card so I can leave!! I've been here once before and received great service so it's really hit or miss...that server needs to be retrained or let go NOW. read more

I come here very often. I always order the chicken and shrimp with a baked potato and the broccoli and rice casserole. Always delicious! I never have the same server, but they're all friendly! I love their Texas Tea drink, full of vodka although you couldn't tell. The prices are unbeatable. Sometimes there can be a bit of a wait, so get there early! read more

We really want to like this place because the food is delicious but the service is not. After visiting three different locations, my family & I find ourselves wondering why we keep coming back. First time (Sugarland), could not cook a steak correctly to save a cow's life. As expected the manager stepped in & the item was taken off the check & a substitution meal was provided free of charge but our revised check was for another table. Despite all the confusion, our waiter was awesome and all things considered our experience was positive. Hence the next three visits... Second time, this location. No major incidents I can remember besides asking to move to a booth being akin to a conference on world peace but our waiter seemed to be on something...real jittery & had to be told things repeatedly. Third time (Beaumont), out of multiple items (one being a major component in multiple dishes) but didn't think it would be wise to tell people when they first come in (full disclosure, it was Mother's Day.) Waitress was ruuuudddeee. Fourth & final time(?), this location. Waited ten minutes so they could clean a table for us...no big deal...table was wet but still dirty. Hostess wiped it down with dry napkins....magic disinfectant I guess. Finally got someone with a wet rag to come over & wipe it. Enter our waitress, a sweet girl but not all there. Asked multiple times what we wanted to drink ignoring the fact that we had neither menu nor silverware. Ok it's just drinks but come on...big puzzle piece missing. Salads were ordered but went missing. Upon inquiring about them, "oh you want those before your food?" *crickets* Finally received salads to receive rest of meal 2 minutes later...received a cold meal I should say....so it was sitting in the window waiting on our salads which were coming with our meal? Seems kinda backwards.... Never mind the arctic AC temperature...I know this is Texas...but brrr...... If you go & decide to eat inside, take a jacket & have a lot of patience. The seats we're also dirty. 3 waiters pasted the table up before asking for our drinks. We over heard one of the waiters state " well that's not my table". Came here for my birthday. We love the food but the service is always found wanting. The service tonight was the worst we've ever had! It took the waitress 15 minutes to bring us our drinks (non-alcoholic) and when our food came, my food order had not been put in. Where do I start? Now no one with sense goes into Cheddars and expects a five star dining experience, but this was just dismal. In all my times dining at Cheddar's one of the things that has been spot on is the croissants. Those buttery, sweet delectable morels. When those were delivered to our table undercooked and over-dripped in "honey" butter I should have known to abort the mission, however A day without food made me and my partner go against our better judgment. I opted for the salmon and ceaser salad. She opted for the garden salad and steak. The service was prompt for sure. Our waitress was attentive and she did a great job making sure we were taken care of, but every dish we had was subpar. The steak was tough. So tough that I think my partner actually walked away from the dinner table having burned more calories than she consumed. The salmon was dry. The garden salad arrived full of egg which would normally be fine, but the menu made no mention of it being include in the salad. I ordered the El Patron margarita which is SUPPOSED to have both Patron Silver and Citrónge, but tasted more like sweet and sour with a splash of Taaka. The drinks taste like they are all premixed. Thankfully the manager removed this from our bill. We politely paid for our food and left, however we will NOT be returning. Apparently they were recently purchased by the same company that owns Olive Garden (Darden). Perhaps that can explain why this experience was so monumentally worse than all of the ones before. Absolutely disappointed with this locations lack of service and quality of food. I ate here on a Friday night and had the Shepard's pie. I previously ordered the onions rings which were on the sour side and I could not stomach. Having waited over Thirty minutes for my meal, I was only able to finish a quarter of it. I requested a to go box and took the rest home. Saturday I went to try and enjoy my leftovers and as soon as I plunged my fork into my mashed potatoes I hit something hard. What I found was appalling and unappetizing. A huge chunk of potato was not mashed at all and was just left lying in the middle of my meal. Had I found this at the restaurant I would have been flippant. I will not be eating here again and will not recommend this location to anyone, i'll stick to the barker cypress location as they seem to know how to service correctly and finish prepping their entrees. read more

Overall the atmosphere was nice. Wait time was very manageable with he exception of having several large parties waiting. Now as far as the food and the waitress I was very displeased. I ordered steak and shrimp where I also asked for grilled shrimp to be topped on my steak with the addition of mushrooms. Needless to say I got the shrimps and mushrooms separate as sides not as I asked and how the menu stated it would be. Also, with the grilled shrimps I found a salsa sticker at the bottom of the bed of rice that it was served over that's stated "used before Monday." Now I know my meal didn't come with salsa neither did I ask for stickers letting me know when to use, but I dare not waste anymore time complaining of what wasn't right besides all the items were cold. read more

At 10:30pm on a Saturday they were short staffed & very slow! Sausage in the beans & rice was not very good. Lemon pepper chicken was great! Painkiller drink was very good! Mac n cheese was not the greatest. Cheddars in San Antonio is much better. This would be at the bottom of my favorite Cheddars location list. We ordered an extra set of croissants and one of us ordered another drink. It never came. When I received my food, it was hanging off of the plate and touching the table. So as my gf and I were eating she chewed on something hard and it turned out to be a nail! We simply wanted to talk to the chef and we waited about 10 minutes. My mum ordered chicken fried steak with baby carrots and green beans. All her good came out hot and fresh. It took no more than 15-20 for our food to arrive. Went into Cheddar's today for a monthly meeting. Our service started out pretty good but then went down hill. My friend and I both ordered drinks from the bar and 1 appetizer to share. After our drinks arrived I ordered a salad , my friend was going to get a take out order but the service came to a complete stop. We sat in the booth talking for over a hour before either of us realized nobody had come by our table. The floor managers (Josh & Taylor) were on the floor but neither came to our table. We quickly realized that our server had in fact clocked out and left the building, without informing us that we could 1.) close out the tab or 2.) offer his table to another server(later we found out he had, but she too forgot about us). So while waiting we notice Josh go to the table behind us and ask "how is everything?" He then skips our table and goes to another table and ask the same question. Meanwhile Taylor is laughing and smiling at a young lady at the bar. So now we're 1 1/2 hour into no service AND being passed by both managers and several servers. So now I'm asking for the highest manager in the restaurant. Not realizing it would take another 10 minutes for someone to come. So out comes Josh and he goes to the table behind us yet again asking if everything was ok. They inform him that yes indeed everything is ok, he then looks around to other tables to see where the "manager seekers" where, I said that I'd requested to see him. Now let me say this, I've waited tables for many years and have been the trainee as well as the trainer. So I'm speaking from experience. I proceeded to explain the situation to him and instead of him apologizing and correcting, he tries to defend the wrong. I informed him that I've waited tables so how we were handled(or the lack of) was very poor. He offered to personal assure that my dear friends food would be made w/priority in which she declined. He removed the food from our ticket but made us pay for the drinks(horrible decision-making). Once the ticket was corrected, he simply dropped it off at the table and kept moving. He issued a half apology(upon his first time to the table) but nothing more. So against our better judgment we paid for our drinks. Before leaving I stopped at the hostess stand to ask for contact information to corporate. She brings Josh to the front and he has a receipt(not even mine) with the store phone number on it. Claiming it's a franchise and the general manager is the only information he has. By this point I'm furious and offended so I snatch the paper from him and leave. Our organization was planning to hold our monthly board meetings here, but that will never happen. The service was beyond poor. I will tell everybody I know to refrain from coming into this particular location. There needs to be a complete overhaul from management on down to wait staff. I'm hoping the general manager will read this but if the people I came into contact with today are a representation of whomever he/she maybe I've got high hopes. read more

Worst meal I've ever had in a restaurant in Houston,Texas. We ordered the blackened catfish, and the dijon chicken. The "blackened catfish" was actually pan sauteed, with a sprinkling of cajun spice, and the "dijon chicken" was grilled chicken with honey-mustard salad dressing on it!! The catfish was undercooked, and the chicken was over-cooked. When we complained to the waitress, she checked in the kitchen, and they told her that "that's the way they do it here." Really? Pan-cooked chicken is "blackened"? And salad dressing on dijon chicken? The manager was "away" so I couldn't complain. We paid our bill without eating, and went to another restaurant. Cheddar's is one of the best places to go for good food and cheap prices, but that's about all it has to offer. The drinks they serve are pretty disappointing and the place gets very rowdy, to the point that you have to yell for the person sitting next to you to hear. The food here is priced similarly to something like chili's but the quality is much better. The service however is about the same if not worse. On many occasions I've been served by people covered in tattoos and spoke in Ebonics. There's really not much to say about this place other than it has good food for cheap, if service is a big concern then this place probably isn't the best choice. read more
