Shoutout to Allen amazing service & Chris two of the best waiters I've never had here. I love the seating this gives family style seating different from other locations. I also like this location because. If you want to go shopping before hanging, you have options to go shopping and then grab a bite to eat excellent excellent location for happy hour recently. My family has been to this location a few times already and it has always been a stellar experience - the food was well seasoned but not too salty, the service was quick and personable, and we always walked away more than satisfied. This time, however, was very much the opposite. This review is specifically for this one experience. My family of 4 came on a Friday night around 6:30 pm and the restaurant was probably about 1/3 full. We got sat next to the rowdiest table imaginable and it was just occupied by 4 gals. 80% of the noise in the restaurant was from them. I couldn't even hear the person next to me when they were talking because the group was so loud and inconsiderate. When I looked around the room, all of the other tables were shooting glances at the gals' tables. This went on for the entire dinner and by the time we left the restaurant, my ears were ringing from the ridiculous noise level. We felt like the staff should have stepped in to say something especially with how many other people they were affecting. Now onto the service. When we were sat by the hostess, we weren't given any menus. We only received menus about 5 min later when we were greeted by our waitress and without giving us time to look at the menus, she immediately asked if we wanted any appetizers. We got our usual crawfish and shrimp fondue which was delicious as always, no complaints with quality of the actual dish. We just didn't get any small plates to eat it with. We looked around for maybe 7-8 minutes and I even got up to go look for them myself before our waitress brought us plates. We didn't get any complimentary bread and butter at the beginning of our meal like we usually do and only got the garlic bread that came with the fondue so when we ran out of garlic bread and still had half of the fondue left, we asked for more bread and waited for almost 15 min before we got it which by the time it came, the fondue was cold and we already had our entrees. My parents, when ordering, told the waitress they were going to share and when their dish came out, they weren't given an extra plate to eat with. The lack of paying attention to detail was really off putting. They, of course, asked for another plate and didn't receive one for like over 5 min. As a precious waiter myself, getting a customer an extra plate doesn't take much at all. The Mississippi catfish opoulousa was so incredibly salty - both my parents and I really struggled to finish our dishes. I think it was the sauce that was too salty because when I tried bits of the catfish that wasn't drenched in salt, it wasn't as bad. The seafood was cooked well and wasn't dry. Probably 10 min into eating our entrees, a male employee randomly came by and tossed 3 to-go boxes onto our table. It came off really rude because we were barely halfway through our entrees and it was like they were trying to push us out the door. I think he was just trying to get rid of the boxes after coming from a different table but like still, what the hell? Our waitress came by and took the boxes, giving a quick excuse of "sorry I'll get y'all different boxes" and never came back with more until 15 min later when we were finally ready for to-go boxes. It took way too long to get anything - whether it was asked or not - last night and the environment with the unruly customers really ruined the experience for us and left a tainted memory of the restaurant. read more

A small group of us came to eat lunch here today. It's a nice restaurant inside but was noisy and only partially filled. Parking is in front in its separate parking lot along with a free garage next door. I ordered one of their specials, the Atlantic Salmon and Shrimp entree for $27. A loaf of complimentary warm bread and butter arrived for the 3 of us to share and it was appreciated. The food arrived less than 15 minutes after ordering and my meal looked very attractive on its plate. The large shrimp were on top of the salmon which was on top of a bed of white rice with Chinese broccoli beside it. Taste wise it was good (3) but didn't wow me especially considering its lunchtime price. It was simply salmon, shrimp and rice put together and needed some kind of sauce to bond it all together in my opinion. It wasn't bad at all but I wanted more flavor. Finally our waiter was kind of hit or miss. A couple of times we needed something and he was no where to be found and the restaurant wasn't very busy. We came to Pappdeaux for lunch and we're not disappointed. They have a great lunch menu which is served daily from 11 AM - 3 PM. Parking: there is a large parking lot which is self parking and they have a parking garage which is nice in the Texas summer. Service: the service here was top notch. Our server was very attentive and we never had to ask for refills. Food: we ordered off of the lunch menu and got an appetizer to share. We started with the crab cake appetizer and this was amazing. It was full of lump crab and seasoned so well. It was $33 and only came with one crab cake but it was enough to share for 4 people. They also serve complementary French bread for the bland their whipped butter is so good on the soft bread. I ordered the stuffed crab lunch combo and it came with chicken strips, fried shrimp, a stuffed crab shell and your choice of a side. They list fries at the side but you can sub the fries for an equal side like broccolini or butternut squash. I got the squash as my side and it was well seasoned and cooked perfectly texture wise. We also ordered the fried shrimp combo which is the same as the stuffed crab combo except the crab is replaced with more fried shrimp. These lunch dishes were $20 which was an awesome deal for the quality of food. I would highly recommend Pappadeaux's for lunch. The quality of food for the price is top notch. I went to this location on Monday this week to have dinner because I didn't feel like cooking and Tyrone the bartender was so awesome and pleasant! He absolutely understood the assignment on what it takes to be a great bartender at a nice restaurant! He was very attentive, provided brief convo here and there, my cocktail was great and great customer service! I had the dish of the day which was: (CRISPY ATLANTIC SALMON & JUMBO CRAB* Seared salmon, jumbo lump crab, shrimp, scallop, lemon butter, potato purée 41.95) and a Lemon Drop Martini and the restaurant was clean and fairly quiet this day! Pappadeaux what happened to you! Pappadeaux has always, always been a go to, no fail option for us for 20+ years. One thing you could always ALWAYS count on not matter what was the food was fool proof. So to kind of go back to our beginning we decided to go to Papadeaux for our 26th anniversary (I actually REALLY wanted to go to little oyster and I wish we had) Lately it seems like the front of house staff is carrying the place. Busing tables, taking care of customers, getting shit from customers about food (the wait staff DID not make your food don't be an asshole!). Let me shout out to Lauren. Inspite of what I can honestly say was probably the worst food experience we have had at a restaurant to date, you were a rockstar. You tried your best but there are things that are beyond your control. We loved you thank you for being the best part of our evening. 1. Spinach crab dip- sounds great looks good. The cheese was masking the sour dairy. Hardly any crab or spinach. And 3 crudo for an entire like bowl common! Food took for ever literally like 45 minutes to an hour 2. The mains - Chilean seabass anf Papadeaux platter. Something was off wi the the spinach didn't realize till we left will explain don't worry 3. Pappadeaux platter fool poof right? Nope! The fries were "refreshed" in a batch of old oil. The fried seafood was just oil sponge I mean when you pick up a shrimp the oil was accumulated at the bottom and dripping oil. The kitchen specifically got the order wrong and the manager threw the waitress under the bus. I'm not ok with that at all. And that's not what I'm use to from Papadeaux management. And it was the kitchen staff that was literally the cause not Lauren! Poor girl was busting her ass to try to make things ok 3. The complimentary dessert- creme brulee 2 totally different textures on each side. One side over cooked and greasy (too hot on that side of the oven) the other side under cooked so quite eggy. The brine was not brule it was sugar mush. The little cookie was soaked in grease and stale. So one bite and spoon down for me. Now for the peace de resistance. - as we were leaving I felt queasy coughed then my food came up. I had to pull over multiple times to vomit because the combination of sour milk over cooked/undercooked creame brulee and the grease sponge of friend sea food. Pappadeaux idk what happened or why you changed but please revert to what you were known and loved for. I was so exited to try this place, and it did not disappoint! We got the crispy Atlantic salmon and jumbo crab, spinach dip, another salmon dish, and a Cesar salad. Came here with a group of friends, some of whom were visiting town. This restaurant is a well known staple in TX, so no need to dive deep on the origin story. Tons of locations around town, that I have frequented. Happy hour- We were suppose to meet for happy hour @ the bar but everyone in the group arrived late except me. So I got started by myself just before the 6pm cut off. I had a beer $4.95 & the catfish beignets $5.95. It's essentially catfish strips. They came out lightly breaded/seasoned and hot. It was fairly tasty for the economical price. My friends arrived too late for happy hour so we got seated for dinner once they arrived. Dinner - Normally the sautéed crab finger (meal not app) is my "go too". But I went quasi-healthy instead. I got the cup of lobster bisque, $11.95. It was a bit too sweet for my taste, maybe too much sherry? But it was fine. And the classic cesar salad, $9.95. A light dinner (but I had already had happy hour remember). Friends enjoyed there meals. Including Pasta Mardi Gras- a classic. The Snapper, a new & temporary item. I tasted a bite of this, it was good, well seasoned. Stopped in for a "hangry" meal after battling the Black Friday crowds. I expected a huge crowd, but the lack of people was surprisingly calming...maybe everyone was still enjoying leftover turkey! We were seated immediately. Our hostess mentioned a new procedure where the waiters hand out the menus (not a big deal for me, I practically have the Pappadeaux menu memorized, but I appreciated the heads-up!). 1. They say that you eat with your eyes first. I ordered the grape salad and it certainly lived up to expectations based on its appearance. However, it was more of a soup than a salad. The dressing was overwhelming. There was enough volume that there was a small layer of fluid resting on the bottom of the bowl. It was by far one of the worst salads I've ever had. For $16, it was not worth a tenth of the cost. If you feel completely compelled to have their great salad, under no circumstances let the staff, who prepare it at the side of your table, add the dressing. You will be thoroughly disappointed. 2. Misleading tips. We had a party of nine. The waitress that helped us rarely came by to refill our water which oftentimes sat emptied for significant amounts of time. And automatic tip was added to the bill. She intentionally did not provide us a tab so that we could see an itemized list of our charges but rather ring it up at the side of the table. The papas company does not notify you that the tip has already been added in and encourage you to add an additional 18% or greater tip on top of the tip that's been automatically added. That is deceptive and appears to be rather intentional on their part. I don't know circumstances should you ever agree to sign anything with respect to your bill without an itemized paper printout first. You otherwise run a significant risk of overpaying for your meal at their restaurant. read more

I've always been a big fan of Pappadeaux. When friends ask for recommendation for cajun seafood in Houston, its always Pappadeaux. My recent visit to this location made me think otherwise. It was only a mediocre experience. I've summarized into a list of Do's and Don'ts below: Pappadeaux: 1) Do offer more non-fired specials or fresh seafood selections, Pappadon'ts: 1) Don't clear our table even though we were not ready to leave. Buser cleared our table too abruptly. 2) Don't make customer wait too long. Tried to get attention to pay our bill by raising our hands for 5 minutes before someone came over. 3) Don't spend too much time chatting with certain customers while making the others wait. Pappadeaux does it again. My family and I were in the mood for some seafood and Pappadeaux is a family favorite. We decided to meet up at the NRG location around lunchtime on a Sunday. Bad idea! That place was more than packed and had about a 2 hour wait. We looked up the next closest location which happened to be this one. They said they could accommodate us with no wait. I've been to a few locations around town, but never this one. First off, from the jump, I fell in love with this place. The parking lot is huge and even had a garage for additional parking. I don't know if we missed the lunch crowd or this location is just that chill. Come to find out, this is the OG Pappadeaux in the city. Walking up, there's a beautiful courtyard with a fountain, patio furniture as well tables set up closer to the entrance if you want to dine outside. Walking in, there's a small bar off to the left and a clean, large dining area to the right. We were greeted immediately and taken to the back where they had larger tables for big parties. India was our waitress for the afternoon and she did an outstanding job from start to finish. What keeps me coming back to this chain is the delicious food. It's a little bit spendy, but you are getting quality and quantity. They always start you off with the freshest loaf of French bread. It always comes out warm, crackly on the outside but soft in the inside. They serve it with delicious butter. Now I usually get an appetizer or two for the table, but we wanted to dive right into some meals. If you do decide on apps, everything is good. Jump out of your comfort zone and try the crispy alligator and thank me later. My go to entrees is usually the Crawfish Platter or the Sampler Platter. I like platters so I can eat a few different items. The Sampler Platter comes with cajun chicken tenders, fried shrimp, catfish and crawfish served over a bed of fries. This dish never disappoints. They season and cook everything to perfection. The sauces are never needed in my opinion but compliment the food well. We didn't partake in dessert this go around either, but get the key lime pie if that sweet tooth hits. Overall, as expected, my experience here was great. I have yet to have a bad experience at any Pappadeaux and it still remains one of my favorite chains in the city. Now I know, this is the location if you want a more chill atmosphere without major waits. I will be back! read more

Pappadeaux has disappointed me, not sure why they decided to remove fried alligator & boudin from the menu (literally two of my faves)...and they've joined the price gouging gang for a spot that was $50 for 1-person, is now $75-$80 (with tip); you a couple, it'll run ya'll $130-$150...so, as i started this by declaring my disappointment, here's the reason outright: "while nothing special has changed with regards to ambiance, service & food quality; the prices have risen exponentially...the overall product is overpriced & overvalued" read more

My family and I have been dining at pappadeaux since I was a child. We absolutely love this restaurant and the food is unmatched. Tonight was not great. Our waitress was somewhat cordial but the service and normal decency was lacking. The restaurant was not busy at all and had maybe six tables be waited on at the time. Not once were we asked how the food was or how we were doing. We had to ask other servers for refills on water. My mother and I felt we were last on our servers list and many of the other servers came to check on us when our server was nowhere to be found. The food was excellent as always but overall this evening left a very bad taste in our mouth. It felt a bit discriminatory in some ways unfortunately. Sad. read more

This is my 2nd visit to this location with family. I usually go to the NRG location because it is closer to my home. The servers are always very friendly and helpful with menu recommendations. For appetizers, we got the fried calamari & octopus, crab & spinach dip, & raw oysters. They also serve warm complimentary bread with butter. It was my first time trying fresh oysters and it was definitely an interesting flavor. I didn't love it but I would be open to trying it again. I always get the chopped salad with grilled salmon medium rare and the portion is huge! I always end up having to take 1/2 to go. My family got the Atlantic Salmon Alexander with sauce on the side, chicken pasta, and chicken strips and fries for my daughter. They help to box your to go which is always something I appreciate. The service was certainly ok - but the food and selections have either been removed or under cooked. At one point - I couldn't even get tea. It got super crowded after church so we made sure to get an early start for Fathers Day. Honestly I only frequent Pappadeaux in Houston because the seafood obviously never disappoints. Love the outdoor patio area, great for special occasions and pics by the fountain. I removed a star because I miss Pappadeaux incredible brunch buffet. The food never disappoints but I must say my last visit I was little disappointed with the jumbo shrimp brochette. The shrimp weren't jumbo at all.
