A small group of us came to eat lunch here today. It's a nice restaurant inside but was noisy and only partially filled. Parking is in front in its separate parking lot along with a free garage next door. I ordered one of their specials, the Atlantic Salmon and Shrimp entree for $27. A loaf of complimentary warm bread and butter arrived for the 3 of us to share and it was appreciated. The food arrived less than 15 minutes after ordering and my meal looked very attractive on its plate. The large shrimp were on top of the salmon which was on top of a bed of white rice with Chinese broccoli beside it. Taste wise it was good (3) but didn't wow me especially considering its lunchtime price. It was simply salmon, shrimp and rice put together and needed some kind of sauce to bond it all together in my opinion. It wasn't bad at all but I wanted more flavor. Finally our waiter was kind of hit or miss. A couple of times we needed something and he was no where to be found and the restaurant wasn't very busy. If I return, I would order a different dish hoping for something better tasting.

Hidden treasure. Original location. Beautiful garden, patio and interior. It's a vibe yall. A vibe. Opened in 1986. And if they rented apartments above the restaurant, I'd live there. Impeccable service. This is how I wish all Pappadeaux locations would operate. ENJOY and take someone cute!

I went to this location on Monday this week to have dinner because I didn't feel like cooking and Tyrone the bartender was so awesome and pleasant! He absolutely understood the assignment on what it takes to be a great bartender at a nice restaurant! He was very attentive, provided brief convo here and there, my cocktail was great and great customer service! I had the dish of the day which was: (CRISPY ATLANTIC SALMON & JUMBO CRAB* Seared salmon, jumbo lump crab, shrimp, scallop, lemon butter, potato purée 41.95) and a Lemon Drop Martini and the restaurant was clean and fairly quiet this day! I also had their appetizer fondue! Let's help raise these stars for this restaurant and go visit Tyrone! He was the best and made the experience ten times better!

(+) Food was excellent (+) Service was fast and exceptional Couldn't ask for a better experience on this day. We arrived on a Friday night just before 6 and beat the crowds. Our server was friendly and got us a highchair for the little one without us even asking. They placed us in a corner booth, which provided some privacy and a quieter area for the baby. As expected, the food was delicious, and our server was friendly and attentive. It was a pleasant evening for sure.

We came on a Friday night right before they closed and luckily the wait was only about 20 minutes or so. We waiting in the parking lot and since there's a club Nextdoor it was pretty loud. Also lots of people standing around in the parking lot. Not a big deal but I do prefer the location further down Westheimer. It's much quieter. The service was okay. The food was just okay as well. Highlight of the night.. the garlic bread and the drinks.

Snagged a last minute reservation on Easter with my mom and am so happy we did. I live 3 minutes away but have never stopped in to check it out. The service was great and fast even though it was so busy during the holiday. The food was very good and the portions are huge! Both of us had to take our dishes to go. The staff was extremely friendly and attentive. This is definitely a new spot on our rotation!

Yes big portion but that is not Papadeaux platting

Pappadeaux what happened to you! Pappadeaux has always, always been a go to, no fail option for us for 20+ years. One thing you could always ALWAYS count on not matter what was the food was fool proof. So to kind of go back to our beginning we decided to go to Papadeaux for our 26th anniversary (I actually REALLY wanted to go to little oyster and I wish we had) Lately it seems like the front of house staff is carrying the place. Busing tables, taking care of customers, getting shit from customers about food (the wait staff DID not make your food don't be an asshole!). Let me shout out to Lauren. Inspite of what I can honestly say was probably the worst food experience we have had at a restaurant to date, you were a rockstar. You tried your best but there are things that are beyond your control. We loved you thank you for being the best part of our evening. 1. Spinach crab dip- sounds great looks good. The cheese was masking the sour dairy. Hardly any crab or spinach. And 3 crudo for an entire like bowl common! Food took for ever literally like 45 minutes to an hour 2. The mains - Chilean seabass anf Papadeaux platter. Something was off wi the the spinach didn't realize till we left will explain don't worry 3. Pappadeaux platter fool poof right? Nope! The fries were "refreshed" in a batch of old oil. The fried seafood was just oil sponge I mean when you pick up a shrimp the oil was accumulated at the bottom and dripping oil. The kitchen specifically got the order wrong and the manager threw the waitress under the bus. I'm not ok with that at all. And that's not what I'm use to from Papadeaux management. And it was the kitchen staff that was literally the cause not Lauren! Poor girl was busting her ass to try to make things ok 3. The complimentary dessert- creme brulee 2 totally different textures on each side. One side over cooked and greasy (too hot on that side of the oven) the other side under cooked so quite eggy. The brine was not brule it was sugar mush. The little cookie was soaked in grease and stale. So one bite and spoon down for me. Now for the peace de resistance. - as we were leaving I felt queasy coughed then my food came up. I had to pull over multiple times to vomit because the combination of sour milk over cooked/undercooked creame brulee and the grease sponge of friend sea food. Pappadeaux idk what happened or why you changed but please revert to what you were known and loved for. I extremely rarely write bad reviews but this was pretty awful and I would rate this one of the worst food experiences of my life

Dined in for a Friday early dinner. Great quality and service as always. For a 6pm rush, we were able to grab a booth in the bar area. We ordered the fondeaux, shrimp and chicken tender platter, and a cocktail each (Grand Hennessy and Guava drink). Everything was good and our server was very attentive.

Fantastic Stuffed Shrimp n Dirty Rice Meal !!!

I ordered one of my favorite entrees here Monday night being the 4-Piece Stuffed Shrimp with dirty rice. Very delicious, savory and comforting. The shrimp were crunchy outside with a soft, gooey inside and full of flavor in every piece. The shrimp quality were noticeably high and they tasted very good even by themselves. The dirty rice was doughy, savory and meaty complimenting the pieces very nicely. Even the tartar sauce I took a few nabs at was tasty and not foul like ranch, but more cool, smooth and subtly sweet. The service was very attentive, welcoming, friendly and efficient.

I live in Spring and this is my go-to Pappadeaux's location! Staff is great and the food is always consistent. The people watching is pretty entertaining as well. The ambiance is the same at every location. Its great for date nights, friends or family outing, and celebrations. Parking gets pretty full on certain days after certain times and frequently spills into the adjacent parasites parking lot.

Atlantic Salmon & Shrimp*

I was so exited to try this place, and it did not disappoint! We got the crispy Atlantic salmon and jumbo crab, spinach dip, another salmon dish, and a Cesar salad. All were so tasty, and held over great for leftovers as well. The Atlantic salmon was so incredibly juicy. Triston was our server and he was the best! Whenever back in Houston I will definitely 100% be coming here again.

Came here with a group of friends, some of whom were visiting town. This restaurant is a well known staple in TX, so no need to dive deep on the origin story. Tons of locations around town, that I have frequented. Happy hour- We were suppose to meet for happy hour @ the bar but everyone in the group arrived late except me. So I got started by myself just before the 6pm cut off. I had a beer $4.95 & the catfish beignets $5.95. It's essentially catfish strips. They came out lightly breaded/seasoned and hot. It was fairly tasty for the economical price. My friends arrived too late for happy hour so we got seated for dinner once they arrived. Dinner - Normally the sautéed crab finger (meal not app) is my "go too". But I went quasi-healthy instead. I got the cup of lobster bisque, $11.95. It was a bit too sweet for my taste, maybe too much sherry? But it was fine. And the classic cesar salad, $9.95. A light dinner (but I had already had happy hour remember). Friends enjoyed there meals. Including Pasta Mardi Gras- a classic. The Snapper, a new & temporary item. I tasted a bite of this, it was good, well seasoned. Service - at the bar for happy hour my server was Anthony. He was fine, busy. Our dinner server Jameika was great, provided postive customer experience for a large party of 7, likely a seasoned server.

10/10 What a great place to celebrate a very special birthday for my father-in-law. An impromptu family lunch at Pappadeaux Seafood Kitchen was perfect for our family. No reservation required on a Thursday afternoon as the restaurant was not crowded. Started with the Greek Salad. Love how this is always made table side. Fresh veggies. Imported Kalamata olives. Capers. Peppers. Tomatoes. Feta cheese. Oregano. Tossed with Pappadeaux Greek salad dressing. So good. For lunch....fresh fish. Loved their blackened redfish. Swapped the dirty rice for green beans with almonds. The ginger glazed salmon was also a popular choice at our table. Lots of great choices for a family gathering.

It was perfectly flaky, rich, and paired beautifully with the crab fried rice. We also shared lobster and vegetables, which were just as impressive. Dessert was a standout--the carrot cake was massive and easily the best I've ever had. The ambiance had a romantic vibe with soft lighting that wasn't too dark, making it perfect for a date night. Our server was amazing--friendly, attentive, and very knowledgeable about the menu. Reservations are definitely recommended. We went on a weeknight, so it wasn't too crowded or loud, but I can see weekends being much busier. I can't wait to come back!

Unfortunately, this turned out to be one of the most disappointing dining experiences I've had in quite some time. We had an 8:00 PM reservation but weren't seated until around 8:30 PM. While delays happen and I was willing to overlook that, the experience only went downhill from there. We ordered Palomas to kick off our Friday night. The drinks took quite a while to arrive, and when they did, they were noticeably watered down. I politely mentioned it to our server, who quickly took them back and brought replacements, which I appreciated. Unfortunately, the second round was nearly identical to the first. When I brought it up again, instead of acknowledging the feedback, the server responded by saying it was "just not a sugary drink." That completely missed the point. I wasn't expecting a sweet cocktail--I was pointing out that the drinks tasted diluted and poorly made. What bothered me most wasn't the drinks themselves, but how the feedback was handled. I wasn't looking for free drinks or trying to be difficult. I was simply offering honest feedback, and it felt like my opinion was being dismissed rather than heard. Unfortunately, the food didn't redeem the experience. We ordered several dishes to get a good sense of the menu, and most were overwhelmingly salty. The salt overpowered any other flavors to the point that we couldn't finish some of the dishes. The sushi was the best thing we had, but even that lacked the presentation and quality I would expect at this price point. To be fair, the manager did remove the drinks from our bill as a courtesy, and I appreciate that gesture. However, by that point the damage had already been done. A resolution is only effective when guests feel heard and respected throughout the process. Instead, I felt like I had to defend my opinion and justify my feedback before anyone took it seriously. At the end of the day, a restaurant can be trendy, crowded, and beautifully designed, but none of that matters if the food and service don't deliver. Balboa Surf Club has the atmosphere and location, but in my experience it falls short where it matters most. Overall, I'm glad I finally tried it because I had always been curious, but now I know I won't be back and cannot recommend it. If you're looking for a similar concept, I'd recommend Hudson House. The atmosphere is comparable, but the drinks are consistently well-made, the food is much better, and the service has always been far superior.

The decor was a combo of old money Houston and mid-century mod. Lots of plants, lots of wood. Very dim. Service was slow but attentive and friendly. There are no mocktails on the drink menu, but they have a few on deck. They can also custom make you one. My husband ordered a Paloma and stated that it was very strong. For an app, we got the coconut shrimp. 10/10 -- well fried, coconut forward. Fun and easy bites. We also got the salmon roll and thought it was refreshing. Light umami, sauce was not needed. For our mains, we got the cheeseburger and redfish. My husband does not love seafood, but he devoured the redfish. It was flaky, buttery, with lots of crab. The burger was ok -- it reminded me of an elevated Big Mac. It was not a bad burger, but it wasn't that melty, gooey, buttery number some of us love. Get the lemon meringue. She is zesty, she is thick, she is tall. My husband, toddler, and I shared it and were stuffed. Balboa is a place I would take someone who likes seafood and good vibes.
