Way overrated by locals. Menu too large for fresh food. Are Chattanoogans that starved for a mediocre restaurant with a nice decor?

After trying to let the hype go down after being opened for several months, I took my daughter and family to eat. First we waited an hour, then we are seated in a bad area, and then to top it off our was bad. The food wasn't all that my chips for my salsa tasted store bought I could have gotten better from Walmart the portions were ok. The food overall was just average to say the least. read more

Well I'll just start with the fact right from the beginning I was brought dirty plates to eat my rolls from, sadly that was not the last of my problems. I ordered a steak (medium) with a loaded potato and a salad. When I finally recieved my food with the rest of my family sadly as I had suspected I didn't receive my salad. I mentioned it to my waiter just to cancel it. Apparently he did but he didn't take it off my bill. He didn't apologize for forgetting it either. I had planned to just enjoy my medium steak until I cut through it and it was what I would call well done. Solid brown straight through. While I was dealing with the fact of being pissed about how sad this meal was I noticed the people sitting beside me also had their main course come out without their salad. I had a gift card to help pay for this $50 meal but I would have got just as much satisfaction throwing that card out my car window while I was riding down the road. The dirty roll plate I mentioned actually had someone else's piece of lettuce stuck to it...I can only imagine how clean my other plates and utensils were. Good luck if you eat here. read more

The food was pretty good. I got a club sandwich and fries, and I enjoyed it. The portion was pretty big. Everyone at my table seemed to like their meals. No complaints, just regular, good food. Nothing to rave about, but we were pleased. However, the service was not good. Our server was very slow and I saw her talking to friends or family while we waited over 15 minutes for her to bring the check after we asked for it. It took a very long time to get drinks. I called the manager over to the table to express my displeasure with the service, and he said he'd do something about it, and walked away and we didn't see him again. It was very loud in the restaurant. Surprising it was so busy on a Monday night. read more

I came here once before fairly late on a Saturday night and had a terrible experience with our waitress. She was impossible to find most of the night, but as I've always been a huge fan of Cheddars elsewhere, I wrote this off as a one-time error due to a very busy night. I came back on a Thursday at 1130am to give the restaurant a second chance. Their parking lot was full, but I was seated right away... and then my long wait began. After 15 minutes of absolutely nobody coming to my table (despite wait staff walking by a few times with food for others and my menu being at the edge of my table), I gave up and left. Clearly, they are not hurting for business and don't find my patronage necessary. I won't be back for a third attempt. read more

In one word, " Nope". I've been here twice. The ambience is all this place has going for it. It boggles my mind how this place stays busy in the evenings and weekends. Does not have good service. They seemed frantic and stressed and were unable to bring our food out in a timely manner. They say the food is made from scratch. I highly doubt it. I can make better food at home. Seeing all the cars that filled up the parking lot at Cheddars made me curious about hiw good this place would be. Me and my gf went there and yes the deacor is nice and new which is refreshing for Chattanooga..but that is the extent of what was good. The food we recieved was so overly seasoned, I could not even stomach it. There was nothing special about any part of the meal. The vegtables seem like Something you would get from the frozen isle at Walmart. The food was way too greasy and the presentation looked like something you would get from a school cafeteria. You can get better food at Applebees for goodness sakes! We did get our meal compensated from the manager when he asked if the food was okay. That was the only redeeming part of the experience. We walked away from Cheddars feeling like we were dupped into it's exterior charms only to be fooled by the atrocious meal. Still so many people line up to eat there just because it's "new". Save your money...go to Chili's its essentially the same type of food except it's actually good and edible. read more

The waiters are great here but it is ran very poorly on the management end! I've only ate here twice with my family of 5 and we've had to wait over an hour both times to get our food when they had 4 of their cooks outside on break at the same time during supper hours on a Saturday night. Our meal was given to us for free both times due to the horrendous wait times and the food being cold, wrong or they were out of it. Overall I wouldn't suggest eating here during busy hours or days. read more

Stopped in for a quick lunch. Service was top notch. Our server was Summer and she did an excellent job. Food was good and came out quickly. Restaurant was clean and enjoyable. Would definitely go back. read more

My wife, son & I were seated in the bar section & after 10 minutes of not having our drink order taken by the 4 servers standing at the server station, or walk by our table we left. While walking out my wife told the hostess we weren't greeted & all she said was"Ok". Won't be going back there! read more

Food was decent the atmosphere reminds me of an army mess hall noisy and hard to hear, waitress was extremely rude on at least two visits to our table. I do not think any of this matters to the mgt as they are running people like cattle and the registers are ringing. Updated review: I gave cheddar's a second chance when my teenager begged to go for lunch. She claimed the fried shrimp were amazing. And I had remembered seeing a ginormous stack of onion rings that looked equally amazing. So off we go. we went for lunch on a Saturday and were immediately seated. Our server was at first very polite and attentive. I ordered the onion rings and grilled fish tacos with black beans. Daughter had the fried shrimp. Our food took a good while to arrive and when it did wasn't hot. The onion rings I think were sitting back in the kitchen a while as they were supposed to be an appetizer and came with our meals. They were the least hot of the food. They were tasty. Not my favorite onion rings and they were heavy on the salt. Still decent. Daughter loved them. My tacos were quite good, as were the black beans. Fish was perfectly seasoned and grilled. Lovely slaw and a spicy sauce. I will order again. I did try one of the shrimp and they were very good too. Just not hot enough. The prices are great for the amount of food you get. I may come back again... We'll see. read more

This is usually my favorite place to have a nice dinner with friends or my loved ones. However lately the service has been subpar. We went one night and they had started to through out their whole kitchen. People weren't getting their teas refilled, one table didn't even get the desert they wanted because the fudge was thrown out. Finally most most recent visit I got their blackened salmon and let me tell you it wasn't black nor was it even cooked. I don't think I signed up for food poisoning thnx. read more

Had a somewhat large group with me so i expected some longer wait time but not this... it took over an hour to be seated, the server was nice and showed up promptly to take our drink order and appetizers, then disappeared for well over 30 minutes leaving us without drinks, our appetizers showed up about 15 minutes before the drinks once he showed up to take the order for the food it took us over an hour to get that... the food was average at best, you can tell most of it was frozen extremely disappointed in this place, I hoped for better will not be going back read more

I was asked to come here by my sister and brother and law based on there positive experiences at this location. However when we arrived we were seated at a dirty table; we waited for twenty minutes and no one so much as greeted us. A couple came in seated in our same section after we waited for twenty minutes and they were greeted and served immediately. We then got up and left the restaurant. No one asked us why we were leaving or what our experience was...nothing. The food was great. The hostess, however, lied and said she called our name over the loudspeaker. She didn't. She gave our table to someone else, and we had to sit at the bar. We got our food before our drinks. It was better the last time I was here. read more

First time trying this restaurant and I would definitely go back and often. I had the ribs and tenders, red beans and rice, ceasar salad, and the onion rings appetizer. Everything was delicious. The service good with the only exception being that she brought me the honey BBQ ribs instead of the dry rubbed, but they we great. The prices were also very reasonable with large portions. Don't waste your money on this Cheddar's location. Beautiful restaurant but the service was terrible and the ribeye was the worst ribeye I have ever eaten. It was rubbery and did not have a good taste. My son commented that it did not taste like real meat. Very disappointed in the food and service. Service was terrible. Server Ramona forgot to put our food in we waited a hour for food and 20 mins for drinks. A party of 6 who got there 20 mins after our group of 4 was out before we even had checks. More than likely won't be back. I wrote a review about the service, but after returning a few more times, I need to give this restaurant another review. After receiving poor service at least twice, I was ready to give up on them, but I really like the food, so I thought I would try again, I've been back at least twice and while the food is as good as before, the service as greatly improve! Sat down for supper about 8:30pm. Place was not crowded and appetizers came out quickly and were very good. Our meals were then very slow to come out. Delicious food, but very slow to come. What if I told you that eating here was okay. Then you would think what is wrong, Right? Well to tell you the truth it deserves this rating due to the following: Food was so sweet, green beans, corn, Yes! my preference is not sugar in my vegetables. The other thing the waiter did not interact with us. Something else about him. My sister and I are a bit heavy set. No we do not order dessert. However, it would have been thoughtful to offer or entice to buy a dessert. Instead the way he interacted with us with my blond and pretty daughter, she left a tip stating service was lacking. I stopped by and picked up a gift card for a Christmas present. Accidentally left my debit card behind, I went back about 10 minutes later once I realized it was missing. The wait is worth it at cheddars! Banging appetizers( my picky husband who hates onions looooved their onion rings) great entrées, and if you enjoy a strong drink, try the painkiller. Coconut pineapple base, limited to two drinks with how strong the alcohol content is. If it's a nice day, go sit on the patio! You won't feel so cramped. If you are ever wanting to try this place out, give it a shot! My family lives cheddars! read more
