Tues 04/19, around 1600 hrs, sat outside, was the Husband's birthday and we thought we would go somewhere new. The waiter was very friendly but inattentive. This was especially annoying because when he came to get our order, he sat outside with us and chatted us up, and that we were his only table. He was MIA the majority of my meal which meant no water for 2/3 of the time. Husband's margarita was long gone and waiter never offered to get another when he did return. You'd think they would want to up-sell! Spinach dip appetizer was great, salads good, my mac-n-cheese was tasteless and Hub's prime rib was tough and overcooked. I love this place - everything about it - the atmosphere, the food, the prices, everything! We have never had a bad experience at this location - it's one if my favorite places! Of course, wait times always vary, but it's a big facility... We ate there a few days ago for lunch. The parking lot was full, we expected to wait but we were seated within 5 minutes. We had the chips and queso for an appetizer - never disappoints. I had the baked spasagna with garlic bread for the first time. You have the option to choose between three sauces, I chose the meat sauce. It was fantastic - big portion and very filling! My sister chose the buffalo chicken wrapper - she says it's her favorite wrap from any eatery. read more

I'm giving this review three stars but only because I love Cheddar's and have had a great experience at every other Cheddar's I have ever been to....except this one. It was very busy on the weeknight I was there. It took nearly 30 minutes to get my food. The waitress seemed very overwhelmed and would disappear for what seemed like long stretches of time. She only came by very sparingly after my food was delivered. I would highly recommend Cheddar's but probably not this one. read more

Had lunch with our children at Cheddar's. As usual, everything we had was tasty. The cost was average, $10 to $16 per person. I would rate it as $$. The waiter (Jay) was polite and efficient. The area was clean but crowded. We were assigned a booth for five people and I asked for a table, but one was not available. I would eat here again and recommend it to others. read more

After several visits, this is my first visit to Cheddars where I left disappointed with the food and especially the service. Service without a smile, everyone looks angry. They stopped serving fish tacos, the ultimate nachos appetizer was much less than ultimate and my glass of tea was empty for way too long. We were sitting right by the door to the kitchen and our server walked by, with a stern look on her face, multiple times. The ultimate nachos were stale and only had enough sour cream and salsa for a quarter of the nachos. One of our meals slightly warm, the other was acceptable. You can't beat the food for the price anywhere in Chattanooga. the wait is well worth it the food portions are extremely large could not eat my entire meal had to get a to go box and I have enough for another small me later the most expensive thing on the menu is around $14.98 but your average meals going to run you around eight or nine dollars and they also have a very friendly staff read more

This is a terrible restaurant. Somehow, my drink was way too salty and they ruined a grilled cheese sandwich. The service was incredibly slow, due to my server talking to other customers while we were waiting. I found their food to be overly processed and inedible. Very crowded and noisy. Menu is pretty extensive which means everything is frozen except the salad. First of all if you don't order an appetizer you won't get drinks and have your order taken for 10 minutes. My wife had chicken pot pie and I had chicken fried steak. Both weren't bad but not good either. The food reminds me of Cracker Barrel without the biscuits or O Charley's without the rolls (you get no bread). I'm not sure why this place is always busy. Generic menu. Though modest and large portions sometimes deserve praise, that's not the case here. I gave two stars strictly because the onion rings were tasty, though though bottom of the stack did get quiet greasy. My entree, the grilled shrimp had decent flavor, but arrived over cooked, chewy and cold. The temp was also chilly on the black beans and fries. My date had the ribs, which were tender and tasty, but again cold! When the waitress finally checked back with us and asked how everything was, we did tell her all the food arrived cold. Note: Not vegetarian friendly. The environment however is nice and clean. Sure, music they play would be favored by high school students or shoppers at forever21. I tried their grilled salmon with side of broccoli and apple yogurt salad. Just mediocre. I had the salmon with Bourbon glaze that was recommended by the waiter praising for its eye-rolling-goodness taste. My other friend claimed the burger was too dry and the chicken wrap was overwhelmed by ranch/blue cheese. I also had the waffle and chicken before and it's exactly what you'd expect. Nothing out of the ordinary. Ask for extra honey mustard because they serve it in a tiny sample cup sized container. The serving size was at average. Nothing too big nor small. Grilled salmon dish was quite small but I didn't mind it too much. Service was nice however. Our waitress was friendly and helpful. Get the fruit infused tea if you decide to ignore half of my review. That's one thing I found pretty good here. I went to lunch at the Cheddar's on Gunbarrel Rd in Chattanooga, TN today. The food was good...BUT...I will NEVER go back again. I am 58 years old and today was the 1st time I have ever had the table cleared while we were still sitting there! I'm talking buss boy taking our drinks away from us, and wiping the table down around us! The next people for each table were standing there staring and waiting at all the tables they were going to sit it!!!! I have never had such horrible service in my life! My daughter and I had a nice Easter dinner at Cheddars this evening. The lunch earlier at Firebirds across Gunbarrel Road was much more of an experience both for the palate and atmosphere. I am not saying Cheddars is a bad place...not at all. The service proved quite competent and we waited not a second for seating. However, one must purchase pre dinner bread; fine croissants, but still out of the ordinary to not be complimentary. Chips and queso was adequate but salsa tasted straight out of a jar from the supermarket. Barbecue chicken salad was with cold chicken, and a bit unseasoned and plain. My daughter had no complaints about her grilled cheese! Atmosphere is casual and the fish tank and unique ceiling fans are entertaining to a degree. The three stars are primarily for the fine wait staff and prompt service. I will return eventually, but this is far from my favorite local eatery. With Firebirds, Chile's, Chop House, Bonefish Grill, Abuelo's, PF Chang's, Bar Louie's, Big River Grill, and Ruths Chris all nearby, Cheddars needs to step up their game. read more

Water tastes like sewage. Even the staff won't drink it. The country fried steak is more like an overly done hamburger patty that is breaded. The breading tastes like pure salt. Can't taste any ginger in the rice for the miso glazed salmon. Salmon was pretty fishy tasting. read more

Food quality will depend on what you choose to order, ranging from very good to not the greatest. I recommend the salmon, which was great. Be warned that the club sandwich might not be what you are used to getting at other restaurants. Do not recommend...To begin with we were told the wait for a party of 10 would be 1.5 hours, or we could seat at two different tables and the wait would be 35 minutes. Needless to say we waited much longer than 35 minutes. When they finally seated us they attempted to seat us at tables that were no where near each other, when there was 4 empty tables all in one area. They explained that 3 of those 4 tables were being held for someone else and we could not sit there....that really made no sense. When they did finally seat people at those tables they only used 2 of the 3 open ones!!! Secondly, it took FOREVER to get our food once we ordered, I would guess close to an hour. Once our food was served it was COLD, a hamburger was so cold the bread was hard before it came to the table, the baked potato was under cooked and still hard, We ordered a water 2 times and we are still waiting for the waitress to bring it. We also asked for drink refills that were NEVER gave. The 3rd and final thing to top of this great dining experience was the server gave every one individual tickets...even the kids...she said she did not know how to add the checks together after we explained to here 2 times who was together. Once she passed out the individual tickets we had to read each one and figure out who they belonged to and then hand them back to her with our payment method. I gave her back my ticket along with my two children's tickets and my credit card to pay. When she finally returned much later I signed the credit card slip and left. Once I was at home I looked over the receipt she gave me and noticed I was charged for someone else entire ticket!!!! So I basically paid for another families meal!!!!Stay away from this place you can get the same food and better service at a Cracker Barrel. read more

I first discovered Cheddar's restaurant in Oklahoma last year. I was thrilled when one opened on Gunbarrel Road in Chattanooga, TN. My experience on 12/09/17 was TERRIBLE and I have several friends that have had similar experiences this past weekend. My family waited about 20 minutes for a table, which was expected. Then we waited 1 HOUR for our food to be brought to the table and when we asked our server why all these people around us that were seated 15-20 minutes after we were seated, had received their food, eaten, paid and left the restaurant BEFORE our food arrived, he very sarcastically replied "I don't know, maybe it was the food they ordered". He did have his manager take off the appetizer from our ticket, but no manager ever came to our table to apologize or anything. I tipped him 20% because I told him we knew it wasn't his fault but when the withdrawal came through my bank on the next Monday, the server had added $2.00 more dollars than I had written on my ticket for him (paid with debit card). I would not recommend this restaurant to anyone. Not only is the service poor, but the employees are dishonest too. read more

My family went to Cheddar's Casual Café to celebrate my mother's birthday since she had heard good things about it. Despite it being busy we only waited 30 minutes but then they squashed my party of 8 into a booth with an additional chair. It didn't seem like the restaurant was not designed to handle parties bigger than 6. We didn't even have elbow room at the table. Our waiter was very nice but drinks went dry several times with people having to wait for replacements. I have a food allergy and had to wait on the manager to become available to talk about menu items that would not have me in the bathroom for hours as well as breaking out in hives. Why is the staff not trained on the food ingredients? Even then the manager told me they use Montreal seasonings on the chicken (Montreal seasonings are for steak/beef generally and I can't find a lemon/pepper Montreal seasoning blend so it's makes me doubt the manager was well trained on the ingredients as well.) Three of our party received the wrong sides and despite our waiter being there with the manager telling me that the rice is made with a chicken stock that contains gluten I still received rice on my plate after ordering it without the rice. Fortunately I scrapped the rice off the plate and did not get sick after it had contact the chicken. Overall the food was very bland and although I read on their website that they take pride in fresh food I would be willing to be their vegetables were frozen. Although the service staff was friendly we will not be back. There are better places to eat on the same road. read more
