Good but I don't understand the hype. We had a party of 4 and eveyone loved their food, but I thought it was good but not great. I liked my chicken piccata but didn't enjoy my side items. I ordered the Couscous and mashed potatoes. I will say the Desserts were "lights out" the key lime pie was fantastic!! My friend ordered the chocolate cake and she loved it!

My recent dinner at J. Alexander's at Hamilton Place was nothing short of exceptional. We had a reservation for a party of 8 at 7PM and were seated immediately -- a great start to a fantastic evening. Let me just say this: Shane, our waiter, was the true highlight of the night. From the moment we sat down to the very last bite, he delivered impeccable service with genuine warmth and personality. He made everyone feel welcomed, relaxed, and well taken care of -- truly above and beyond. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The ambiance of the restaurant exudes quiet luxury -- stylish, upscale, and perfect for both special occasions and elevated dinners out.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] I ordered the Steak Maui with smashed potatoes and a side Caesar salad -- absolute perfection. Others in our group tried the roasted chicken, NYO mac & cheese, and ribs with fries, and every single plate was a hit. The flavors were rich, bold, and expertly seasoned. Drink selections? 10/10. Not a single miss. And because it was the first visit for everyone except me, Shane surprised the table with complimentary desserts to share -- a kind and unforgettable gesture that left all of us smiling. If you're looking for great food, an elegant vibe, and standout service, this is it. Ask for Shane -- you won't regret it!

We Love this place !! [[HIGHLIGHT]]The service and ambiance here is amazing every single time[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]]. We normally stick with the steak Maui, mashed potatoes, and a side of orzo rice -- it's our go-to and it's consistently great. I switched it up this visit and tried the Brussels sprouts as well , and they were absolutely delicious. Highly recommend!

Popped in to J's this afternoon for a quick cocktail. The bartender behind the bar clearly ignored us. Two ladies came in thru the bar door sat down & was presented with menus immediately. At this point my husband and I had already been sitting for 5-7 min. [[HIGHLIGHT]]I know J's can get busy on a Sunday afternoon after church however this clearly was not the issue.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] We had a drinks , paid the check & , left. Just dissappointed as he clearly saw us sitting. Too many other restaurants to frequent if service cannot be provided. Will still visit again just a bummer.

J.Alexander's is one of my all time faves. We lived in Chattanooga for over a decade, and when in the area now, we always make a point to visit! My go-to order is the grilled salmon (it's amazing) with the orzo & wild rice. Their house salad is one of the best around! My daughter ordered a grilled chicken Caesar salad, along with a side of fries. Desserts are also excellent. My favorite is their key lime pie. Service is always stellar, and I've never had a bad experience here!

We went here for my aunts 72nd birthday. She goes to this restaurant in Boca ( a lot) and she figured since she could not find a fancy Italian restaurant, she wouldn't go to her second choice. I had the ribs which were meh at best. The ceaser salad was meh at best as well. Not somewhere I'd go back to personally

Jordan was A great server our table didn't have to stop and asked for him he was so attentive checked in on us often. Food we amazing think I was the only person at the table who finished the entire plate 4 others had to take away boxes. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Ambiance was higher end feel.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Shout out to the lemon drop, Blanton whiskey and Chattanooga whiskey at the bar.

Bridgeman's focus on prime cuts and classic steakhouse offerings really shows in the execution. Service was polished and attentive from start to finish. Our server was knowledgeable about the menu, offered thoughtful recommendations, and checked in consistently without being intrusive. Drinks arrived quickly, courses were paced well, and the entire experience felt professional and seamless. Located inside the historic Read House, Bridgeman's Chophouse delivers the upscale steakhouse atmosphere you hope for on a night out. The dining room feels elegant without being stuffy, with warm lighting, classic decor, and a refined energy that makes it equally suited for date nights, celebrations, or business dinners. The setting elevates the experience and makes the meal feel like an occasion.

Nothing arrives looking like it spent twenty minutes being positioned with tweezers. It's meat, bread, potatoes, pickles and sauce--the sort of food that requires napkins and leaves evidence. The Reuben is borderline obscene. A heap of deeply colored, tender meat barely contained between aggressively toasted bread, melted cheese and pickles. It's messy. It falls apart. You stop caring almost immediately. The turkey club is the quieter surprise. Thick slices of actual turkey--not the sad, uniformly circular stuff that's been haunting office refrigerators since the Eisenhower administration--piled onto grilled bread with bacon, avocado and enough richness to make the whole thing work. Then there are the potatoes: thick, fried rounds with crisp, dark edges and soft centers, served without ceremony alongside ketchup and a creamy orange sauce. Simple food done properly. There's nowhere for bad technique to hide. And that's really the appeal of Main Street Meats. They're not trying to convince you that lunch needs a backstory. They butcher animals, understand meat, make sandwiches and appear to take all of it seriously without taking themselves too seriously. Michelin noticed the place. After eating here, it's not particularly difficult to understand why. Come hungry. Order too much. Get the Reuben. Wear a shirt you don't particularly care about.

It was also a beautiful day so we sat on the patio. I love that they work with local organizations for fresh vegetables and meat! Our waiter was very nice and fairly attentive. But the food... For the good - the crab cake was delicious. It was like all crab meat with no filler and was very tasty. The pimento cheese was also SO yummy. You could tell it was made fresh and had a great flavor. The pita it came with was fine, a little over-grilled. I was not crazy about the fried okra. I wish the pieces weren't just cut in half, because to me they had that slimy okra texture inside. My gf said they weren't THAT bad, but I really had to push myself to eat them. The rosemary fries have a great flavor and were crispy (I prefer thicker fries but my gf enjoyed these). I LOVE mac and cheese and was super excited to try theirs. It was very creamy and had a good flavor but there was way too much cheese for the amount of noodles. Like the ratio was pretty off. Now for THE issue. My gf ordered the Filet Mignon, medium. It came raw and without the blue cheese compound butter. By the time the waiter came to check on us, I was half done eating. He took the steak to be put back on the grill and brought it back with a bowl of crumbled blue cheese. It was still raw inside. He brought us extra fries, but by the time it came back I was done eating. She asked for it to go and it was STILL RAW. She had cut it, so it was super obvious if you looked. The manager came and talked to us and they took it off the bill, but for a $40 filet mignon it should not take 3 tries to cook it right and it still not really be right. She said there are cold spots on the grill and they're training a new line cook, but it was not a good look... I'd maybe give more of a pass if they were packed, but there was no one eating inside and maybe two other tables of folks outside.

Not far from where we were parked we found the Wooden City conveniently across from it all (dare I say a brisk walk's worth) with Mellow Mushroom and Ben & Jerry's establishments at both corners. We were given the options of staying inside or being placed outside and we chose (biased a lil) the opportunity of eating outside. We were taken care of accordingly by Jonathan, who is a perfect example of someone that makes tourism worth it, we chitchatted back-and-forth and came across some great options on our appetizers and drinks. While we waited for drinks, we were served water with ice as the weather outside was pleasant but a little too hot for the afternoon... When the appetizers arrived, we were greeted by not only demonstration, but taste above what I've had as of recent. The Beet Ravioli took back my wife to a time where she made something of similar taste and the Rigatoni took me back to California when I tasted something familiar then. From being seated quickly upon entering, to explaining how the ticket validation thing worked (more info at the end), customer service was some of the best I've been shown. The ambiance is chic but casual-great for both cozy date night or fun family night. Our server was so friendly and patient as we asked questions about the menu. I ordered the grilled salmon with spicy crab remoulade and my guy ordered the smoked wings with a side of fries. I was happy that I was able to select my own sides from the ones on the menu so I opted for the fried Brussels sprouts with maple and bacon and the buttermilk whipped potatoes. After a short wait, our food was brought out. This was truly one of the best salmon dishes I have ever eaten! The salmon was cooked to my liking, the potatoes were soft and fluffy and the fried Brussels sprouts were absolutely divine and perfect. The remoulade was a little salty but it may have been just been my taste. The potatoes helped with that so it was not a deal breaker. My guy was pleased with his food as well and I could tell he enjoyed everything he ate. We agreed that we would take this trip back just to eat this meal again. It was truly a wonderful experience, from beginning to end. I highly recommend trying this gem out! Pro Tip: The restaurant validates parking. If you park in the lot across the street, do not prepay on the app or online. Ask the servers at the front to validate to save the $18 parking fee before you order and within 15 minutes after entering. Unfortunately, we didn't do this and the restaurant cannot reimburse the money after you've already paid. You've been warned!

It's always nice when visiting from out of town when you can get a variety of local beers all in one place. The server was also so nice and talked with us about the area, which was thoughtful. The inside was huge! But we sat outside under their covered porch. They have TVs, but there weren't any fans. If it's hot, I'd opt for inside! Will def return again especially on their special nights during the week!

Restaurant is beautiful with warm colors and wood touches you associate with a steakhouse. My order: Cocktail: Vieux Carre 5 stars - fantastic! A must try if you like Bourbon. App: Tuna Poke, 4 stars - fresh and tasty tuna with crispy wonton chips - there was also warm white rice on the plate which wasn't cohesive with the light, cold tuna. I left the rice on the plate. Truffle, Parm., Meatloaf, 4 stars - this was a very- very, rich, decadent meatloaf. Large portion with excellent mashed potatoes - the heavy richness of the meatloaf with the buttery mash was over the top - proceed with caution lol! Wait staff was fantastic, efficient and engaging.

Not sure if they are always this busy but they are located in what appears to be the heart of Chattanooga near a bunch of hotels so I suspect it is always a bit of a wait. I got their house salad with a side of ranch, and then for dinner I got what may have been a special - it was a 7 oz filet, crabcake, and shrimp, on a mashed potatoes. I will say that while I did enjoy the food, it is not the best steak, crabcake, or shrimp I've ever had. I do want to say that our waitress went out of her way to be amazing. By that point in the day, I was exhausted and just so hungry. She was attentive, got our food out to us fast, and was so kind.
