My group occasionally picks this place for birthday dinners. What I like - plenty of selections on the menu, lots of food for the money, good variety of non-alcoholic beverages besides soda. We try to stick to locally owned and operated restaraunts, but while in the Hamilton Place area we decided to try Cheddar's for lunch. Since it opened the parking lot has been packed so we figured lunch might be a safer bet. There were indeed a few people waiting for tables, but since we opted for the high tops in the bar area we were seated immediately. We've been back twice since our first visit, and were pretty surprised by how much we liked it even though it's a chain. The food is good, and at lunch it's a pretty unbeatable value for the quality and amount of food you get. I've had the chicken pot pie and was really impressed with it, again especially since I wasn't expecting to be particularly blown away. The honey butter croissants are also really good. Overall, we've had three good experiences there and while I don't think we will make it an every-weekend kind of destination, I'm sure we'll be back. read more

Cheddar's is a great restaurant with a homey atmosphere, beautiful decor and terrific prices. You get a lot of food for the money. They provide a wide variety of foods and their signature queso dip is superb. The service has been great every time I've been there..... and I've been there many times and plan to keep on going. Yes, it's that good. The staff is right up front and honest with you when you walk in, in telling that you will have a wait time for a table, but it's worth it. If you don't want to wait so long, go somewhere else and make room for those who love this fabulous restaurant. read more

Great prices + great quality food. A perfect combination for a great experience, especially for Valentine's night! My significant other & I went to Cheddar's for Valentine's day night. We expected it to be packed, but we were seated immediately. The bacon cheeseburger is what won me over. My S/O ordered the smokehouse burger and loved it too. We frequently try new burger joints in an attempt to see if anyone can top our all-time favorite -- Red Robin's for him and Five Guys Burger and Fries for me (Red Robin's back cheeseburger is my 2nd favorite). We haven't found anyone who could replace our favorites in several years until we had Cheddar's. I heard they were good, but didn't expect it to become my favorite. I was even more surprised that they were able to top my S/O's favorite burger (something from Red Robin's that comes with onion straws.) Every ingredient, from the lettuce to the bacon was absolutely delicious. It's been years since I've had a bacon cheeseburger with actual quality bacon. Even Red Robin's has become low quality in the bacon department. It's always rubbery, thin and stringy. Only a few bites of the 2-3 bacon strips are ever edible since most of it is that white fatty rubber crap. I was pleased that the burger from Cheddar's came with plenty of bacon and it was crispy and edible. I even commented on how the mayonnaise was "real." It's so rare to have real ingredients these days, but our food tasted close to a homemade burger would, only better. I loved the bun too! Strange, but even the buns were delicious. I don't know what kind of bread they use or how it's done, but it seemed to be that Cheddar's aims for quality in every single ingredient that goes into their burgers. On the smokehouse burger that my S/O ordered, there was onion straws, bacon, cheddar cheese, and some kind of mayo/bbq type of sauce (similar to what they put on most burgers that come with onion straws.) Our total came out at $28, which was a total surprise since it was V-day night and considering the size of the burgers and the order of appetizers + a large beer. Our total order was: the two burgers (mine was like $6 something and his was only $5 something, not sure why the price difference since they were similar but his had onion straws and mine did not), both came with fries, an order of tortilla chips that came with a queso sauce and salsa, a dr. pepper, a and a large beer. As for portion size, you may get a bit more chips and fries at other places, but you pay for it big time when the check comes. I was impressed at the size-to-price ratio. The queso was the best yet. Not the average white, bland stuff -- it's real cheese (finally!), thick, and comes with beef. Both the salsa and queso was slightly spicy and flavorful. The only things I didn't love with were the fries and onion straws on my S/O's burger. The onion straws were really greasy and soggy. Not crunchy and delicious like mini onion rings should be. Fries are also a big part of a burger meal to me, and I wasn't impressed with theirs. They weren't special and I didn't even end up finishing them. They were kind of dry, perhaps not very fresh. The kind you can get choked on without a drink. We definitely left full before either of us could even finish our burgers or fries. I still had over half my burger when we left and yes, it was still delicious at 2am. The atmosphere was upbeat. Pop music playing a bit loudly, but pleasant since I wasn't in the mood for quiet eating. I'd rather hear music than people's crunching and clinking of forks. We could still hear each other talk okay, so it isn't maddening. I loved the enormous fish tank and the fresh whimsical look when you walk in. It felt very clean and comfortable. The staff were perfect - not over-doing it, but stopping by enough that we never had empty drinks. There was a bit of a wait once we finally figured out what we wanted, but no longer than 35 minutes. Just enough that required a smoke break. People told us to expect a 2 hour wait and overpriced food. It was the complete opposite though. Cheddar's is the perfect place for both burger and cheese lovers. I loved the homemade-quality menu items! They had different soups and burgers and almost everything on the menu sounded really delicious to me. read more

I have been to this restaurant a handful of times and every time I have to wait to even be sat. Don't get me wrong, because I don't mind waiting 5-10 minutes, but 30 minutes every time is a little extreme since I go during what is considered their slower times. It is overly crowded and there is almost no room to walk, so it's uncomfortable and awkward and you can't move. The layout is very bad. Now to the food we go; the first couple of times it was good! No, it was great! The second couple of times not so much. This time, my chicken wasn't cooked properly, My tea was not mixed properly, and our waitress was not the best. She only came by about 3 times the entire duration of about the hour and a half we were there. She was very forgetful and we didn't feel properly serviced to be honest. All in all, it could have been much better, but it still could have been worse. Update: we are now both very sick and have a feeling it was due to this since it is both of us and we both ate the same thing. Update: I called Cheddar's to let them know that we were puking and up sick all night and they basically told me that I had to be lying because they didn't have enough calls on it. My wife ate at the Chattanooga Cheddar's on 7/11/14. We both ordered the Chicken Pot Pie with a side salad. The food was good. There was a Croissant Roll with the salad that was drizzled with honey. It was delicious. The only complaint that we have is that the restroom doors are too heavy and hard to open. My wife is using a walker and had a difficult time getting into and out if the restroom. Came to Chattanooga from Ga for my sons little league football game and decided to go here !! There was a short wait for our party of 9 to be seated , this was the only positive !! First off it took our waitress to long to even come get our drink orders , the alcoholic beverage I ordered they didn't have I ordered another one and it took approximately 20 minutes to come out , by then I didn't even want it anymore. The food came out and the crossaints came out at the same time , the food was super mediocre at best. Me and another young lady in our party ordered the pasta salad and both asked for more Cesars dressing and I never received mine at all, hers came eventually but she was almost done. My 2 daughters ordered hot honey wings and got broccoli instead of coke slaw and neither one got the broccoli even after asking for it twice. The young lady was unconcerned and very unapologetic for the all the mistakes she was continuing to make. Needless to say a party of 9, she should've been busting her ass for what would've been an awesome tip !! Instead she made us feel like we were a burden so therefore she missed that opportunity!! This was the worst meal we've had in Chattanooga. Our server ignored us unless we flagged him down for something. He never offered refills without us having to ask. We waited for at least 40 minutes for our meal, and the restaurant was not busy. And when we finally did get it the food had obvious been sitting under a heat lamp. My sons grilled cheese sandwich was like a solid rock, and my steak had an odd mushy crust that had to be scraped off. We've always been Cheddars fans, but will not be returning to this location. read more

First time here for lunch with coworkers. I had the grilled chicken pecan salad, which was good, but it really is hard to mess that up. My companions had the Monte Cristo with fries, which they both enjoyed, but saying the bread was a bit too soft. The fries are very tasty and nicely seasoned. We did go there during lunch in December and this is the mall location, so it may be better a different time of year, but we waited over 35 minutes for our food. Service is always good, food taste great and the prices are extremely inexpensive for the food the food you're getting. The only reason they are only getting 4 stars is because they messed up and entire table of orders when I dined in with three other friends. Everything came out of order (ex. appetizers came out while we already had our food) and my broccoli was raw with cold butter stuck on the side lol. I asked for my broccoli firm..not raw but they fixed everything and made up for it by cutting our bill in half. So all four of us ended up eating for under $28. I have to say first that my friends, my husband, and I, really had fun and enjoyed each other's company. I had the chicken Alfredo with a house salad with the spinach dip and chips for a starter. The chicken Alfredo was a little light on Alfredo sauce and seasoning and the chicken was charred. I took it home with me and added a little salt and garlic and it was wonderful. Other than that, I heard no complaints. If something goes wrong with a meal, it's usually my plate so don't let my meal put you off of Cheddar's My bestie and I had a cocktail. It was half strawberry and half mango with a cactus juice side shot. We love the cactus juice and asked for another shot each. Instead of getting us the shots, our waiter came back with a message from the bartender informing us of the price of a shot. THAT is why the 4 stars. When a customer orders a shot, you bring them a shot not information on the cost of said shot. Waiters and bartenders need to just please their customer. We cancelled the shots and went elsewhere for drinks. I highly doubt that 2 $7 shots would break the bank since we spent much more than that at the place we went to for drinks after leaving Cheddar's. read more

First of all let me start off by saying this was my time eating at this particular chain of restaurants. I had no idea what to expect so going in I kept an open mind. When I walked in I was so impressed with the decor and architecture of the building. It was very aesthetically pleasing and comfortable. The staff was welcoming and seated us right away. Almost immediately our waitress, Cinnamon, got out drinks and appetizer ordered. The speed of the service was relatively normal. I did not feel that they were taking too long at all. I was I fact pleasantly surprised with the speed. We ordered the Texas cheese fries to start and they were AMAZIN; reasonably thick fries covered in a couple different cheese and topped with bacon. I normally don't like restaurant bacon because most of the time it has a really overpowering and offensive flavour but this was stellar. Not to mention the serving that they gave us was remarkably huge for an appetizer that costed roughly seven dollars. I ordered the BBQ Chicken salad, fully expecting giant chunked chicken pieces in the salad. Not only was I wrong, I was very please to see that the chicken was thinly sliced barely close to shredding. Or made the chicken to salad ratio PERFECT. Again the portions were GIANT. I expected a tiny bowl for the price it gave but it was close to he size of a steering wheel on a car. All in all, I am very likely to return. The service was astounding. The food was delicious. The price is VERY much worth what you get. Five stars. read more

Great experience!! Great food/great choices!! We ate at the bar because REALLY busy and was just the two of us. The bar staff was great! Fairly attentive for being at the bar. The reason I give them a 4 instead of 5 is because I was not able to sub my rice. That was weird. They cooked my food how I asked and didn't make me feel like I was causing trouble asking it to be cooked a certain way. If you are going during weekend/busy hours be prepared to wait. As long as you're ok with that and know ahead you should have great time!!! read more

I usually always enjoy Cheddar's. This visit was not so great. We were seated very quickly in spite of a long line, so I thought to myself "hey this is going to be a great experience". Well it really wasn't all that bad, only a few bad things ruined what should have been awesome! I ordered the Key West chicken and shrimp. I typically love it and this time was no exception. I had the carrots and broccoli casserole. My gf had the 6oz steak with broccoli and a house salad. Our onion ring tower came right out and was awesome. The wait staff was great too. The problem was that when our food arrived, my carrots were down right COLD. When I mentioned this to the waiter, he immediately took care of it,. Only thing was he returned with a tiny dish of carrots to replace the triple the amount of cold ones that I had on my plate originally. This was not the way to correct a faux pas in my opinion. I could easily have given 4 or even 5 stars had it not been for this incident. I will give them another chance as they have been great in the past. This is the second less than stellar visit I have had here in the last 6 months or so hence the 3 stars. read more

Well I'll just start with the fact right from the beginning I was brought dirty plates to eat my rolls from, sadly that was not the last of my problems. I ordered a steak (medium) with a loaded potato and a salad. When I finally recieved my food with the rest of my family sadly as I had suspected I didn't receive my salad. I mentioned it to my waiter just to cancel it. Apparently he did but he didn't take it off my bill. He didn't apologize for forgetting it either. I had planned to just enjoy my medium steak until I cut through it and it was what I would call well done. Solid brown straight through. While I was dealing with the fact of being pissed about how sad this meal was I noticed the people sitting beside me also had their main course come out without their salad. I had a gift card to help pay for this $50 meal but I would have got just as much satisfaction throwing that card out my car window while I was riding down the road. The dirty roll plate I mentioned actually had someone else's piece of lettuce stuck to it...I can only imagine how clean my other plates and utensils were. Good luck if you eat here. read more

So I went to eat here today I brought my daughters stroller and the waiter insisted that he put it away so it wouldn't be in the aisle. I forgot my purse was in the bottom of my stroller until he brought it back and my purse was gone ! One of the staff Members stole my purse ! My daughter is 6 months old and has allergies her medicine was in there, all my cards, 150$, and so many other things were in there that can't be replaced. The manager acted like he didn't care and insisted that none of his staff would do such a thing. He didn't even question any of them. He didn't look in the trash or on the cameras. He didn't even care. I'm calling corporate tomorrow. I've already called the police but I'm very upset because not only did they steal from a single mother they stole from an innocent child. The waiters are great here but it is ran very poorly on the management end! I've only ate here twice with my family of 5 and we've had to wait over an hour both times to get our food when they had 4 of their cooks outside on break at the same time during supper hours on a Saturday night. Our meal was given to us for free both times due to the horrendous wait times and the food being cold, wrong or they were out of it. Overall I wouldn't suggest eating here during busy hours or days. read more
