It's been at least five years since we've been to Cheddar's... maybe closer to ten, though honestly, I'm not even sure it's been open that long. Let's just say - it's been a while. Our first experience all those years ago wasn't anything to write home about, but our 9-year-old recently went with his grandma and hasn't stopped talking about the honey butter croissants. So tonight, after football games, we decided to celebrate the end of the season and give it another shot. And let me tell you - it did not disappoint. We started with the honey butter croissants (of course) and immediately ordered another round to take home for breakfast tomorrow. Our server, Anika, was absolutely fantastic and talked us into several great options. I had the Painkiller cocktail to ease the sting of our football loss and... wow!!! It deserves a spot on the MonkeyPod menu in Hawaii--it's that good!! I ordered the Pecan Salad with balsamic vinaigrette, my husband had the ribs, and the kids shared the chicken tenders. All excellent choices. For dessert, Anika steered us toward the chocolate cake over the monster cookie, and she was so right. Worth every single bite (and the blood sugar spike that came with it). We'll definitely be back - and we'll be asking for Anika. She made our kids feel special and treated us like we were the most important table in the restaurant. Such a great experience all around. I ordered Country Fried Chicken and it comes with two sides. Based on the picture i though it came with mashed potatoes. So i ordered a side salad and what i thought would be extra mashed potatoes the waitress didnt correct me. After the waitress had delivered the food and left i realized this could not be two sides of mashed potatoes. I finally had to flag another waiter since she was no where to be scene. She came over and told me the plate just comes with the chicken, toast and gravy. I thanked her, but.. it just ruined the whole experience. Five stars based on tonight's experience at Cheddar's and a HUGE shout out to our server, Dillon. He was absolutely amazing. He was attentive, he was friendly, he was efficient. The kitchen was on its game tonight as well as all of our orders were prepared perfectly and came out hot! We were pleasantly surprised by the minimal wait time for a party of four on a Saturday night. The restaurant itself is clean and continues to be well maintained. Service here is mediocre. After watching the hostess come over to the bar area and just stick her hands into the fruit, wipe her hands only to turn around to do it again was crazy to see. Cleanliness of this restaurant was something that blew me. Never seen a cheddars restaurant of this untidiness. Utensils had food residue on them so I requested plastic. What a disappointment. We have been coming here for years for family dinners and just a great place to get a good inexpensive meal. My 22 year old wanted to celebrate his birthday her with 12 of his family members. We added ourselves to the wait-list and had no problem getting seated. Kiki was out waitress. She was great! She had a great personality and took care of all of us. My son, who's birthday it was, ordered a drink that took 30 minutes to get to him. Kiki kept checking on it and said they ran out of vodka? Then he ordered a steak and chicken tenders with fries. The steak smelled and tasted like propane or gas. It was not eatible. We sent the steak back but everything on his plate that has steak juice on it tasted like gasoline. By the time they sent the steak back to him everyone else was done. And it still smelled like gas. Kiki was very apologetic and was all over the place trying to make things right. The manager, Jason, finally wandered over to our table and had zero personality. He didn't apologize for anything. He didn't even say anything. He just stood there. I told him what happened to my son's entire experience tonight and he didn't even respond. It was like he was overwhelmed with what we said and just walked away. It was so awkward. I think part of a restaurant manager job is just to be friendly and interested in what the people are saying about their experience. We weren't freaking out on him. It was just so weird. He did comp my son's meal and that was super nice but just maybe a friendly smile would have been suffice. We did tell him what an amazing job Kiki did making up for what the night turned in to. The place really needs some love. The wall was falling apart behind us and obviously the grill wasn't working. It's too bad that there is just a little work that needs to be put into the place and a little customer service training for the management and then they will be back in business. read more

Was at the Cheddar's on 8172 W. Bell Road on 7/31/26. Asked the hostess (scraggly hair with flowers in it) if we could sit at a booth in the bar. She said that she could only seat up in a high top table at the bar as there was no bartender, currently in the shift change mode. We asked what was the difference between a high top and a booth. She got snarky with us and said if we didn't want the high top to go somewhere else. We talked to the manager (skinny guy) who had no management skills and he said he would look into it. I used a $30 gift card to treat me and my significant other to a nice meal at home. The receipt and text I received stated my order would be completed by 8:21pm, 40 MINUTES LATER, and I still have not receive my food. I confront the hostess again about the delay on my order after she states it'll be "right out" and she admits she "misheard" the name of the order. So although the car description matched, AND I checked in on the spot# I was in, she had me wait 40 minutes because she misheard the name?? It is unacceptable. After she gets my order, she hands it to me with ZERO apology while also texting on the job (review the tapes for 9:01pm time frame) ! I understand it is Mother's Day ... but Mother's Day lands on the same weekend every year and it is also 2026. There is no reason the receipt and text I received should be so off from the actual wait time of the restaurant and customer service to be so poor. I had high hopes but was disappointed, came on a Saturday afternoon, it wasn't busy. I was seated in the bar area. The customer service was horrible. You literally are forgotten after you get your order. No one to flag down for refills on drinks and my appetizer never made it to the table. The lettuce was not that fresh a lot of it was translucent, pasta was not fresh. The fries were hella cold. The salmon was super tasty and cooked to perfection and I was very thankful for that. My family and I dined here for my mother's 75th birthday party. Our server was so patient and gracious. We really appreciated the fact that everyone made her feel so special. It's one of her favorite restaurants. The food was really good. I had the white fish with lemon pepper seasoning. It was fresh and well seasoned. Today after church my family and I decided to eat out instead of me cooking, and we chose Cheddar's. Honestly, I left disappointed. Cheddar's used to feel like "comfort food done right" -- generous portions, great flavors, and scratch-made meals that made it worth the visit. This time, it was the opposite. My husband ordered the bourbon glaze salmon with shrimp, broccoli casserole, and coleslaw. My son and niece had chicken tenders, my oldest had a cheeseburger, and I ordered the Caesar pasta salad with grilled chicken. My salad came out soggy, missing croutons, and with just six tiny slices of chicken. One bite and I had to send it back for chicken tenders instead. Overall, the food didn't feel fresh or scratch-made -- more like corners were being cut. The service, however, was excellent. Our waitress was attentive and kind, and honestly, she saved the experience from being worse. Another issue was the seating -- the booth cushions were so worn down we were literally sinking into them, which made dining uncomfortable. Cheddar's used to be one of my favorite family spots, but sadly, the quality has gone downhill. Service was great, but the food and atmosphere just aren't what they used to be. Love going to this place for lunch! It's surrounded by so many stores and it's very central. Almost all the tables in the place are booths so they're very comfortable. We love their salads! The service is always fantastic!! Today my husband had a cheeseburger and coleslaw. He goes on and on about the coleslaw. (I guess I better learn the recipe for it.) lol I had chicken tenders and fries and a side salad. The side salad is actually quite large for a side salad! The chicken tenders were really good! I ordered the fries extra crispy which I have done on at least two previous occasions. They were not crispy, and even sort of soft and floppy. I didn't bother to send them back (nor did I the other times) because I was already full with my side salad and eating two of the tenders. I brought home the other tenders for my husband to have for a meal when I'm out as you get like six fairly large chicken tenders in the order. I did ask the server if she had told the kitchen extra crispy on the fries and she confirmed that's what she had done, as she has a "crispy" button when entering the order. So for some reason, the kitchen can't seem to get these fries crispy or they don't bother reading the order. If I order fries again, I will definitely send them back immediately if they don't come out the way I requested. Let me start this off with I normally like this restaurant but the service is always sub par & tonight it was just awful . We sat down & waited for over ten minutes for our server. I finally asked the girl at the hostess stand for help. When the server came over I ordered a margarita & my daughter a Shirley temple along with our pasta & another pasta to go. My daughter received her drink after we were done with the appetizer. I wasn't offered water or anything & was still waiting on mine. My margarita came when we were almost done with dinner & that's when I told her I'd just have a water since we're almost done eating. We finished eating & we're still waiting on the to go pasta that was ordered at the same time as our dinners. We sat there for another 14 minutes after eating for the to go food. Our server came to tell us the back of the house didn't see our to go order & asked if we wanted to wait although I had already paid for it. She then brought me the receipt and said I didn't pay for it & I showed her where I did pay for it, she apologized that she's "blind." Shared chicken pot pie & monte cristo with a friend so we could try both. Pot pie is served in hot bowl with crust just on top - delicious. I thought Monte Cristo was strange. When the drinks arrived we ordered our food and informed the waitress we were going to order a 3rd entree to go. We figured we would order when our food was delivered. 20 minutes later our entrees were delivered and we informed him (not our waitress) we wanted to place an order to go. He said he would tell the waitress. After we finished eating, our waitress finally returned to "check on us". For all the time wasted waiting we chose to not order the 3rd entree and paid and left. Often times when you microwave a leftover from a restaurant the result is less than desirable however, NOT THIS TIME!!! I allowed myself a good night sleep before posting this so I could calm down and look at it again. We have only been there once before, years ago, for brunch. Nothing bad stood out about that visit, but nothing memorable either. We decided to try it for a family birthday dinner last night. We saw how popular it was and, going at 5:30, expected to wait 20-30 minutes. When we checked in at 5:20, we were greeted nicely and told 10-15 minutes for our party of 5. That was good news. We provided our cell phone and name and went outside to wait. At the 40 minute mark and seeing people that arrived after us be seated before us, I went in to ask. I was apologized to and told that it was only an estimate when we arrived and they didn't know how much longer it would be. When I questioned the lack of an estimate, all of the people at the podium (4-5 employees) all started to try to tell me their reasoning about why they couldn't do that. I wasn't argumentative, they were defensive, bordering on rude, but we waited some more. At the 55 minute mark 6:18, we decided to go inside to wait, hoping that our presence would keep us on their minds. At that moment, the cell phone told us that our table was ready. We checked in at the podium and were told they didn't know why it notified me, there wasn't a table ready for us yet. No new estimate. At 6:35, we were escorted to a table. We were greeted by a server that obviously was OVER his job. If ever a person wasn't meant for a customer service position, this server was them. None of the attitude was directed at us personally. We heard it at each table he visited around us. Sighing, eye rolls, shoulders down, Eeyore in human form. The famous honey croissants were set on the table, no napkins, no plates, no comments. Drink order was next in 10 minutes. We were ready to order both appetizers and our entrees, and he seemed grateful for that. Appetizers came in a reasonable time, still no small plates. But we were starving at that point. We ate communal style from the serving plate and repurposed the plate the croissants came on. At 7:20 I commented to my party that we had now been on the property for 2 hours. Still no dinner. Tables around us were served, to mixed reviews. There were orders that were incorrect, people waiting for their adult drinks decided to just go get them at the bar instead of waiting. Finally the food arrived at about 7:45. They were mostly correct. We did have one side that was missing, but I wasn't told until we got home later, so we didn't address it at the time. However, overall, the food was adequate but not good. The pork chops were dry and overcooked, though the sauce was yummy. The sides were cafeteria quality. The broccoli and cheese was mostly cheese, no chunks of broccoli, just the tiny greens specks of the tops. The mashed potatoes were dry and not seasoned. The portions were good. Finally, our server returned to ask about dessert and apologize about all of the issues and delays. Right before tip was going to be calculated, we saw our first glimmer of "happy". I don't know where to put this next comment, so at the end will have to do. When I went to check in after the initial arrival check in, the smell of weed was strong at the podium. With so many employees standing there it would have been hard to determine which employee(s) it was coming from. I know weed is now legal in AZ, but smoking it at work, or on your way into work doesn't seem to be helping their customer service skills at all. It also could be that impaired individuals can't properly operate the notification system for the waitlist. Or it could be completely unrelated to our experience. But if you can smell the weed on the employees that greet you, THAT is a first impression that a family friendly restaurant probably doesn't want. I hope they can fix their issues, I hope that this was not a normal experience for their guests. But, WE will never be back. read more

The croissants are delicious!!!!!!!!!! That is their bread basket before your meal. The menu has a good selection and variety of options. Burgers, steaks, seafood any and everything you could want.
