We stopped in here because our youngest said we eat Mexican too much ...ha no such thing. So in order to give him a break he chose Cheddars. Now the Margaritas off HH are pretty inexpensive on HH even less. It was super quiet we were in between shifts and the process was so smooth and the waitstaff super on top of it and friendly. We sat in a high top in the bar because my husband wanted to watch Golf and they were able to accommodate. The honey butter croissants were what Nolan Our youngest (19) pounded he also got the Buffalo Chicken wrap and really enjoyed it. We had the Cheese Curd app and you really can't go wrong there great start. I also had the tender salad tossed in Buffalo Sauce the waiter even brought extra for us on the side. So thoughtful. Salad was crispy and tasty. My husband got the Key West Shrimp and Chicken and also enjoyed it. Well made food for well made prices. With all the inflation it's really nice to get this service, and well made pleasantly sized food for the price of a petite plate elsewhere. Food is usually delicious & cooked to order. Service went really downhill for quite sometime. With the recent change in management, however, there have been massive improvements. I hope to be able to update this review with a higher rating, if these improvements continue, and I certainly hope they do. It's a great place where you can get a great meal that is reasonably priced. Nothing tarnishes a good meal more than bad service and lets hope that has come to an end. read more

Got to Cheddar's and sat in a booth in the bar area. Ordered the Maui Margarita. When it arrived the presentation was poor, the cactus shot that comes with was not a shot but what looked to be what would be left over if someone had taken the shot. I flag down the bartender. I bring the lacking shot to the attention of the bartender and he states, we ran out of the liquor and that's all that was left. I then ask what will you be replacing it with? He says, whatever you want and walks off. A few minutes later he brings over something clear in a glass. I ask, what's this, because I haven't been asked what I'd like. He says it's tequila. Ok. I order spinach dip, it comes out, presentation is poor but it's hot and I'm hungry so I eat it. I'd really like another drink but I'm a bit taken back by not being offered an alternative and having to settle for whatever the bartender wanted to sit down so I don't order one. I decided I wanted to order some croissants. I asked the waiter if they had fresh ones. He said he'd check. He brought me some that were NOT fresh. I could tell by looking at them and I confirmed this after the first bite. I brought this to his attention and he said for fresh ones it would be about 20min. So dissatisfied as I specifically asked for fresh ones, not whatever was back there. I decided to ultimately not order an entree and leave. This experience was poor and concerning because the restaurant was empty. read more

The food is well seasoned and tastes fine but the chicken breast in the Dijon chicken w/ mushrooms was spongy, it didn't have the texture of real chicken. It's tasted like TV dinner chicken from the frozen section. For a restaurant that is named scratch kitchen I was expecting better. read more

I just ate there with my son last Friday which was two days ago. I used to like this restaurant but this must've been the slowest service I've ever had in many years. I had to ask at least three times for a drink refill and the food took forever and most of all I could never find a way to get a bill to pay and finally the manager came by and let me pay him. The food was good but the service was so bad that it cancels out any pleasure I had from the food. One thing that was kind of strange as it seems like there were no females at all that worked in the restaurant; even the greeter himself was a male. In theory that shouldn't matter but just in my personal experience it seems like women have better customer oriented personalities than men do and this restaurant was no exception to that rule of thumb. We are visiting from Reno, Nevada and have never heard of Cheddar's, the name alone intrigued us. We were rushing to the hotel to make in time for my NFL team to play so we didn't have time to eat. Not only was the order ready fast! The food (ALL of it) was utterly delicious! We all loved every thing we got. (That has never happened)! And the price! How?! It's so affordable, portion size is amazing, and the taste is outstanding! Thank you! You have made lifetime customers (now bring one to N.Nevada). Also, whether it's fast food or a restaurant, it seems something is always wrong/forgotten in our order. Like literally every time. And there was not one thing missing, nor wrong! This particular store hasn't recovered from Covid staffing and supply chain issues yet. Burger was mediocre, at best. I've had the classic burger before and this version today looked and tasted like Wendy's. Pass on the burgers. Burgers under $10 many meals $11-14, Steak & Shrimp $16 and the portions aren't skimpy. So many Austin restaurants are getting too 'prissy & pricey.' My issue is not with the food. My issue is that I had to go to the ER on 8/20/23 after possibly being drugged by the server. Our server was extremely creepy, and kept pressuring us to drink alcohol. When I declined and opted for water, he seemed a bit put off that my partner nor myself wanted to drink alcohol. 25-30 minutes or so after being seated and given our food/drink, I started feeling as if I was intoxicated (again, I had NO alcohol nor did I order any alcohol). I became dizzy, nauseous, and like my head was spinning. My face and neck started turning red. I noticed that my water tasted kind of chalky and a bit bitter. I later went to the ER and even the attending Doctor on staff was leaning towards the idea that my food/drink was altered in some way. My family and I were in town for the weekend. After being at lake Travis all day, my family and I decided to get a bite to eat at this location. Being fans of Cheddars, we knew the menu and what we wanted. After the hostess sat us down, our waitress, Amanda, came over to greet us. She looked tired but i just blew it off because i figured she may have had a long day. She took our drink & appetizer orders and said she would be back. Once our appetizers were ready, a Hispanic woman brought our appetizers, Amanda brought our water and a black guy brought our food once Amanda took it. I'm adding this because this is important to the service we got from Amanda. I know food service is challenging, but if you're tired or don't want to be there, then you have have to push through your tables. Amanda was not attentive AT ALL after our food arrived. Our water never got refilled until the end when we were paying. (We were thirsty the whole time and tried to find her) She came over one time to see how we were doing but she was super dry when asking. She was more attentive to the other tables and i literally was ready to tip her good. As you can see in the picture, our finished plates were never picked up, the water wasn't refilled. The whole service was trash from her. Everyone else that brought our food was so nice. We had to ask a Hispanic worker nearby for a To-Go box because Amanda literally checked out and was no where to be found at the end of our meal. Been here once before about 2-3 years ago, was not impressed then. Came back because co-worker mentioned fish on the menu and I've been trying to include more of it in my diet, and I am NOT a fish eater. asked for sweet tea, got served barely sweet tea. croissants were served before ordering. while nice they were nothing to rave about, nor was the butter drizzle. ordered pre-meal salad for wife and cup of potato soup for me. salmon for her and cornmeal battered whitefish for me. salad came, waiting for soup...and waiting...waiting....finally got soup as wife finishes salad. salad was obviously pre-made, not made from scratch. soup? hot but too much bacon. didn't have time to finish soup because meals arrived. made from scratch and they arrived that fast? cornmeal fish: looks like a lot of fish pieces to me (about 6, about 2" wide by 4-5" long; I later discover the smaller pieces are stacked on top). also has fries and cole slaw. cole slaw is ok, but 'bland'. fries are ok. the fish? the cornmeal was a little on the thick side so after you broke it in half was when you could how skinny the filets were. no wonder they gave me 6. the last 3 filets were what I would call acceptable thickness, but I didn't finish it all. since my familiarity with seafood is negligible, I couldn't tell if the texture of the fish was normal. definitely not like the fish (cod/halibut) and chips at 2 other seafood restaurants we've started frequenting. it was almost kind of 'wet' as if it had not been cooked enough. strangely, Cheddar's serves 'whitefish' seafood and salmon. in small print on the menu it says their whitefish is 'swai' and is imported from fish farms. a quick Google tells me that the fish is heavily farmed in Viet Nam and that it is MUCH cheaper than other whitefish. that explains why they are able to sell it so cheap at Cheddar's ($12/plate). Now, let's talk about the waiter. He was OK except for one thing which he repeated several times. You know how hen you are served something, people will tell the server "Thank you"? his response to that was "of course". seriously? you tell your customers "of course"? Conclusion: I'm still not impressed by Cheddar's and not going back. No matter how nice it looks, the food does not measure up to the surroundings. I would describe it as Long John Silver fastfood being served Olive Garden. At least I don't appear to have gotten food poisoning. read more

Random first time here because every other brunch spot was an hour and a half wait. Huge menu with cheap foods and cheap drinks. The portions are plenty, great for the price but not for quality. The food was decent, lots of lows, very few highs. Pretty salty overall and the execution of our food wasn't well -- executed. I made the mistake of ordering a sirloin steak, asked for medium rare, came out closer to rare. It was almost impossible to cut through the meat without shaking the table. I enjoyed the crispy chicken soup they offer, great for a hangover. Besides that, my fiancee liked one of the margs, apparently not too sweet and decently strong. read more

Another win for Cheddar's. Mom, the hub and I were here right as they opened on a Monday morning. We'd been on the road since 7:00 am and were ready for food and drinks before our short trek to the Austin airport. Our time was limited because of our flight departure, so I was a little worried, but we were in and out quickly. We had gotten out of the car for a stretch and were not sure which entrance to use when a very friendly employee greeted us and told us to come on in through the bar entrance - love that Texas hospitality! We were seated quickly. It looked like they were a little slow to get started up with service, but after that everything was brilliant. Our waitress was friendly and we had an awesome chat about Iron Maiden shows. Food was pretty fast and delish. My buffalo tenders were perfect. They're never as crispy as the regular tenders but the (four piece) appetizer is still the perfect portion size. Mom's vegetable plate was good also - french fries were crispy/tender and perfect. My husband had the cheese bites - those looked amazing and I don't even like cheese. Bottom line - food was well-prepared and delicious, we were in and out in 45 minutes (perfect timing for our flight), service was awesome and will definitely visit again when we're in the area. read more

I ate at Cheddars's in Slidell, LA and it was the best restaurant experience I've had in years. The croissants were so delicious I just wanted to order a dozen to go. The food was excellent and priced at very good pricr for the amount of servings The pecan salad and spinach dip was the best I've eaten before. I'm going to tell everybody about how great the food was and can't wait to go again. Please build one on the Mississippi coast in Gulfport or Biloxi. I'm a Cheddar customer for life!!! read more

I came here with a family a couple of times. I always received excellent service here. The food is good and you get a nice portion for the price. The drinks are affordable and mixed well a margarita will run you around $6 no matter the time. I like the ribs and fried shrimp platter eith Mac n cheese and mashed potatoes. The burgers are good and are good tasting. I like coming here, because I know what to expect food and drink wise and I continue to get great service at this location. The only reason I didn't give it a 5 star is because I need to try more menu options to be complete fair regarding their food quality and taste. However this is a great casual dining restaurant and good if you have kids because it's noisy anyways and filled with families. read more

Tried it for the first time after hearing everyone rave about this place! Atmosphere is great and the service was amazing. We had Chris who just made the entire night perfect! Made us laugh, kept us entertained, was extremely helpful, and always around. We've eaten here numerous times and the food has always been very good. I've had sandwiches, burgers, chicken fried steak and chicken (love the gravy) and steaks just to make a few. The steak is very good and very reasonably priced. Ask for a side of the bourbon glaze and dip your steak bites into that little cup of deliciousness. The service has always been good on our visits. We've sat in the bar area and the regular seating, and I prefer the bar area. There are tv's in case a game is on and the vibe is just a little more upbeat. Don'tcha hate it when the restaurant you actually want to go to is crowded over capacity, to the point of being a fire hazard, and you're too hungry to go very far so you end up at the place next door? This is what happened to me Saturday evening. I had been craving a steak from Texas Roadhouse, but they were waaaaay too crowded because of, I guess, World Cup. I remembered this Cheddar's having very good food a few years ago, but the quality went downhill ever since. But I decided I'd give them another chance. I didn't let going to Cheddar's stop me from ordering a steak. And fried shrimp. With a loaded baked potato. And steamed broccoli. And a beeeeeeer. The steak was actually really good, and I was surprised at how big it was for the low price (damn near 8-oz). What I was even more surprised about was the fact that they got the cooking temp correct. The steak was tender; I saw no fat; and the spices they put atop the steak gave it great flavor. The baked potato was great, too. The breading on the shrimp was too thick for my taste, but the shrimp itself was good. Service was top-notch. Bartender Dorothy gave me whatever I wanted (well, things that she, personally, had control over) whenever I wanted them. The people sitting next to me were loud, drunk, clumsy and annoying, so I quietly slid over a few seats to escape their insufferable alcoholic madness. Dorothy said she was getting ready to cut them off, so extra kudos to her. Personally, I'd rather cut them *up*, but that's just me. The meal was very filling, to the point where I couldn't even finish my beer. I didn't want to get a to-go box because I wasn't going home for several hours, so I stuffed as much food as I could in my pie-hole, and lamented the amount of food still left on my plate. But, hey, a waist is a terrible thing to mind. The very first time I went to a Cheddar's, I expected more, um, cheese on the menu, but Cheddar's has made it back into my rotation anyway. I have been having the worst experience at cheddars this last experience I had was very distasteful and therefore I will never go back. The last time I went I was served poorly as well as this time. I sat with nothing to drink having to eat my entire meal like that and once the server brought me a drink after I ate my meal it was club soda instead of sprite. Cheddar's is one of our favorite restaurants in Austin. My husband loves Salmon with Bourbon glaze and that is always his go-to meal. However, today we picked up curbside, and brought it home. The bourbon glaze did not look right, and when he started eating, it was VERY spicy. Certainly not what he was use to in the past. It's been over 5 years since my prior review of this location, and an update is due. My "home" Cheddars is the one at Arbor Trails. But, this time, I had some friends in town who were helping their son convalesce after foot surgery, so I had to pick a place that was close to Cedar Park. After consulting several friends, and not really finding anything that had the right food and the right atmosphere where conversation was possible, we defaulted to Cheddars. It was a Saturday night, and, like all Cheddars locations, it made for a chaotic lobby. I was absolutely floored that, with the crowd gathered, I was seated immediately with a table for three and the other couple not being there yet. We were seated in the glassy "greenhouse" wing, which ultimately proved far less noisy than the loud and crowded main dining room. In short, we were able to enjoy a relaxed meal and catch up for almost two hours without ever once getting the bum's rush. We ordered an appetizer of the onion rings, which are always sinful and plentiful. I have my favorites at Cheddars, but this night I went off-road and chose the Grilled Catfish, which was surprisingly good and didn't have the muddy taste often associated with catfish. Everyone was pleased with their meals. The service we received, while a little shaky at first, settled out to quite good overall. The only disappointment of the night was in not finding a chocolaty-decadent-enough dessert that the mom could take home to her son, primarily because Cheddars had actually run out of their one dessert that fit the category. Imagine running out of chocolate at 8:00 on a Saturday night. I'll bet a lot of ladies went home disappointed that night. And, yes, I'm only talking about dessert. Cheddars is not "buy local", but for a chain, they serve credible food at a very incredible price and provide a decent atmosphere. Let's put it this way: I've spent way more at some very tony local Austin restaurants for a far less satisfying time. In the final analysis, it's not always about getting the smallest portion of pretentious WTF food for the biggest price: it's about achieving your primary goals and objectives for the evening while being pleasantly surprised that you still have money left over to spend elsewhere. I absolutely love this cheddars location. Always sit In the bar area and get great friendly efficient service no matter time or day. I order the steak and fried shrimp combo with Mac and cheese and potato. Amazing steak cooked perfectly every time. Have had several things from there menu never a bad choice when here. And you definitely can't beat there amazing strawberry swirl margaritas. Great taste, presentation, and alcohol ratio. They never fail me and only $4. Highly recommend this restaurant especially this location. Friendly staff and delicious food. read more

My mom and I visited this Cheddar's location yesterday, and it was very delightful. We love Cheddar's, and was impressed with their COVID regulations. Had a bad experience at another location with staff not properly wearing their masks. But, everyone here was on point. Our waiter was a delight and gave us outstanding service. We love Cheddar's home style meals, and the sides are the best. They have the best carrots, green beans, mashed potatoes, etc. Doesn't really matter what we order, it's always good. Sent it back and it was perfect when our waiter brought us out some fresh nachos. Ticket times were long for how busy they were. Our waiter and the manager are what saved the day. Finally tried this place with some friends after an outing. Walking in, there is this interesting fan which I imagine more decoration than anything, but pretty. I ordered their grande margarita which I was incredibly surprised how large the drink was. It was also quite delicious. I ordered their buffalo chicken wrap and I do believe I would pass on that, but my husband got their Ribs and they were delicious. The meat fell off the bone, quite saucy which I also like!
