I'm puzzled by recent reviews, especially since my dining experience was exceptional. We were seated within 5 minutes. I ordered the country fried steak (absolutely delicious); my son, the sirloin & shrimp; my oldest grandson, the herb crusted chicken; my middle grandson, some type of pasta dish w/seafood; my youngest grandson, the grilled cheese (which I helped him finish) from the kids menu. It was a bit of a wait for our meals, but every meal arrived hot & fresh to our table. Besides, it gave us more time to enjoy their delicious crescent rolls! The restaurant was very clean. Terrible service with the food being okay at best. It is a surprisingly very busy restaurant which would explain the horrendous wait time. My friend described this place as "similar to Chili's" which I was okay with because I love Chili's. But I don't find this to be like Chili's at all. I ordered a sweet tea and chicken sandwich. My friend got a pasta dish. The only time my sweet tea cup was full was the time it was brought to the table. And from then, the waitress just completely did not care about our table, until it came time to settle the check. Although she did a 5% job at best, I tipped her 20% because it's the holidays and I hate for people to say that I'm contributing to the "cheap Asian stereotype." So we've got a rogue crappy waitress out here thinking she's doing everything right. On top of that, the food was not that great. My sandwich came with some pretty sad looking shredded lettuce. And it also seemed like the chef decided to put the fries in my sandwich for me. The fries were also terribly soggy even though I asked for them to be fried extra crispy. This place has gone down. The customer service is unspeakably horrible. Waited 15 min for a hostess to come out. Then when seated she just threw the menus at us. Took the waitress 15 more minutes to just get us drinks. Mind you the place isn't packed. The bartender just sat there when I put my drink in 15 min prior being we were seated by the bar. Took any additional 25/30 minutes to get checks back. I feel bad bc she forgot to add auto-gratuity. We tipped her well. I hope everyone did. So I just caught wind that she was fresh out of orientation. So I feel bad for her. She asked the manager for assistance and they let her drown. That's bad management. Overall likely won't be back. I haven't been to Cheddar's in years. My daughter turned 11 and wanted to go as a birthday dinner. It was a Wednesday evening and they weren't packed. We were seated minutes after arriving. I already knew what I wanted (chicken fried steak). Lol We were seated in a booth and our waiter came out to take our orders. As we were ordering my sister noticed a roach on the wall. The waiter took care of it, but he said that he would get the manager. We ended up moving to a table, but never saw the manager. My sister didn't order anything, but my kids got steak and shrimp pasta, and I ordered the chicken fried steak. It tasted great as usual. The total for 4 meals and drinks came to about $50. For our inconvenience, the waiter didn't charge us for the croissants. Lol read more

My husband and I got a gift card to try this place out. We have been here for 4 years and have never been. The outside is really nice so we were excited to try it. We got there at 6:00 and they called us back around 6:25, so the wait wasn't to bad. There was a lot of people there and I heard from others that it was under staff. Our waiter was really nice, it was a little hard to hear her because of the party next to us but still nice. The food was amazing, my husband said it was the BEST burger he has had here. I would have to agree my wraps were the best I've had here as well. The reason I ranked it 4 stars instead of 5 is because, we never got refills for our drinks and it took about 30 mins for our dessert to finally get to us. They were busy so I get that. We ordered a monte cristo sandwich and after it came, we were told they were out of raspberry sauce. We asked for dipping sauce for the chicken fingers and the server gave us a dirty look and said, "Well, what do you want." We ordered two cups of baked potato soup as appetizers. They finally came after the entrees were served. We were ready to leave and still had not gotten the spoons we requested. When we complained, the manager hid in the kitchen. Okay place in a good location in Walton way. I've eaten here a few times now and the main problem is consistency. If you are fortunate, you might get some of the best chicken tenders around. One of us ordered an appetizer with a side to be brought out as the meal didn't happen I ordered the shrimp and chicken, apparently Cheddars is getting 6 portions out of a chicken breast this was the tiniest portion I have ever seen. On July 13, I ordered ahead for curbside pickup. They gave me a pickup time of 7:30pm. I arrived at the correct time, and sat there, waiting and waiting for my food. I called inside multiple times and they promised my food was coming soon. Around 8:15pm, I finally received my order, 45 MINS after they said it would be ready. Now, I understand that the kitchen was apparently understaffed that day, but if you know you are understaffed, you should advertise longer wait times. If I had known it would take over an hour for food(I placed the order around 7pm), I would have gladly gone elsewhere for something to eat. Instead, I was forced to wait in my car for food that was promised would "be done soon" for so long that it was too late to try to get a refund and go eat elsewhere. To make things worse, when I spoke to the person who brought my food, requesting a contact from their manager (because this wait was ridiculous), she took down my number and promised me someone would call me. Of course, one week later and I still haven't heard anything. It doesn't matter that the food was good, the customer service and wait times were terrible. Don't advertise a pick up time if the food won't be ready for another 45 minutes! read more

Visit on 6/6/17: Got the salmon and strawberry salad, brother got 12 oz steak with baby carrots and a baked potato, and we shared the cookie and ice cream for dessert. Fine dining this is not, nor is it trying to be. Salad was good and they didn't skimp on the fish, but there were no pecans in it, despite what the menu says. Brother seemed happy with his dish, and I tried his carrots -- they were good. Dessert faltered for me. I like my cookies chewy, not crunchy, and the vanilla ice cream tasted unnaturally sweet. I get the feeling that's a regional difference that the locals are accustomed to: my brother has lived here for three years and didn't seem to mind. I don't remember the name of the waiter, but he was so friendly and attentive. Water glasses never went empty and he checked in on us at least three times aside from taking our order and bringing our food. I usually don't get service that sweet, but being from the West Coast and having recently lived in Albuquerque, I'm not used to Southern hospitality. That bumps this place up from three and a half stars. Glad we came here because I wanted a salad and because I never got a chance to try the Cheddar's near me when I was living in Albuquerque. After finally asking the hostess if someone could take our order, we ordered drinks and food (we'd had plenty of time to read the menu by now). When the food arrived, we asked for silverware. No dice. Finally, they brought us a fork...and no knife. After a long wait, they finally brought us knives, as apparently there were none clean in the restaurant. I can guess why--the place was a pig sty. The table next to us had stacks of dirty dishes on from before we arrived there, and they were still there when we left. I could look around and see several other tables that had never been cleaned either. Food wise, the food was very mediocre (I had potato skins and my dad had chicken fried steak). This location is more run-down and dirtier than Mark's and my favorite Cheddar's in Kenosha, Wisconsin. The other Cheddar's has lots of bus staff in addition to wait staff. This location didn't seem to have any bussers--at least not mid afternoon. The poor wait and host staff seem to be doing it all. One way this Augusta Cheddar's management shines, though, is that this location gives each customer a free honey butter croissant upon seating. So yum! The Augusta Cheddar's also has more lunch options, including less than $7 combos that puts this sit-down restaurant in the same price range as some counter-service restaurants such as Panera. My lunch order was wrong (again, get the wait staff some help!), but the meal looked so delicious that I didn't send it back. The dish was so good! The carrots were sweet and tender, the broccoli was super fresh, and the salmon was fresh and cooked perfectly. This location even included extra bourbon glaze.
