a variety of foods on a paper plate

A friend was in town and wanted to try a soul food buffet. We went around noon and I thought it would be packed, but there was plenty parking. Walking in, it's like most buffets, pay the cashier, then off to the food. The food was pretty decent, they had a few different tries of meat and vegetables to choose from. Our waitress kept our drinks full. They did have desserts, but I was too full to try to eat anything else.

An Augusta classic! This family run restaurant has been serving up great food for around 40 years. A trip today reminded me why. A buffet full of fresh made veggies and meats . The squash casserole and rutabagas were so delicious I had to get a second helping. Fried chicken was tasty and the fried pork chops were awesome. Tender and flavorful! Salad bar too with cole slaw and potato and pasta salad. Had to try the banana pudding and a delightful whipped key lime fluff. And course good cooking has to have sweet tea. The Kelly family has great food here so try it out.

Meh to just okay. Canned greens, canned green beans, etc. I don't like going to restaurants and paying for canned goods. Catfish was fried with flour instead of cornmeal, yuck. Place seemed dirty.

Mediocre food. Place didnt have a clean feeling. Bathroom had poop everywhere... DISGUSTING. One of the workers was heard saying and I repeat "Oh heck, I just crapped everywhere"... im grossed out. Im sitting here at the table disgusted. The food wasnt bad. Shrimp ans grits was good. Everything else was ... ok. Not bad and not slammin good. I wouldnt be back but I wouldnt discourage anyone from eating there.. despite the poopy situation.

Horrible. I cant believe that they charge $14 for an adult buffet. Who in their right mind would pay that much for this. When I asked the lady if they had a take out menu, she said very rudely we dont have take out menus so I left after that. I'll never come back here again.

Not bad, but not good either! Historically, I've been known to write extremely long reviews. I like telling you the who, what, when, where, why and how of my decisions to visit the place I'm reviewing in hopes that you feel like you were there with me. Some like to use sarcasm in their reviews or humor, some wordsmithing and bullet notes while others write very straight to the point. Still others enjoy detailing each aspect of the business from the food and service to the ambiance & decor. Unfortunately, The Harvest Table Buffet just doesn't inspire me to encourage others to come here for a meal in my traditional scribe. Although it seems to be a popular place, I couldn't help but wonder if maybe its because nothing else seems to be around this highly industrial area. The staff was as friendly as could be and reminded me of those old 80's diner sitcoms like Alice. I totally kept expecting someone to say "Kiss my Grits!" The decor is 1980's-ish old school for sure with plenty of southern food items on the buffet you'd find on the table at your grandmother's house for dinner. However, my grandmother was a far better cook than this! Best items were the chicken and fried fish. The meatloaf was practically inedible to me, like it was made from canned dog food instead of USDA beef. The veggies and other side items were okay, some much better than others. But overall I doubt if I would visit for a meal ever again. We were only briefly passing through, but I certainly hope to find some slap-your-mamma good food on our next pass through Augusta. There has got to be better soul food options than this in a city that honors their native son (James Brown) with his own statue. 2.5 stars overall 2017/17

After a delayed flight, I just wanted dinner in my suite and ordered the Grilled Rib Eye Pork chop with Broccollini and mashed. I was amazed at how delicious this dinner was! It came quickly (within about 20 minutes) and was delivered by one of the very friendly front desk clerks. The chop was cooked perfectly and was delicious, juicy, and tender. I loved the broccollini as it still had snap but was not undercooked, just enough that you tasted the fresh flavors. The garlicky mashed were REAL potatoes with a good amount of butter...excellent! I really enjoyed my meal, and it set me in a better mood after hitting 5 cities so far this week (and it's only Thursday!). Loss of 1 star as they had no rolls or bread to go with it, and that should be a standard.

Compared to other buffets, they didn't have much of a selection. They had the usual fruit and salad, but as far as meat offerings, they had fried shrimp, fried flounder, chicken wings, and prime rib (it was cold). The side offerings were rice, red potatoes, and mixed vegetables. Some of the seafood offerings were served on ice and there was clams, shrimp, and crab legs. I didn't get a chance to try the many desserts. They also had a pasta station. The pasta was the best part of the meal. The chef cooks it in front of you and you have a choice of chicken or something that looks like imitation crab. The live music was ok. The wait staff was attentive to our needs. The buffet is pretty pricey. Do i think it was worth the $30/40? NOT AT ALL.

First things first... the hostess Lyne set the tone immediately. Personable, funny, and quick-witted. She picked up on my husband's "I like to cause a little trouble just because I can" energy within seconds. Without missing a beat she said, "Listen... we're going to put him in time out right there." Another guest nearby started chuckling and I knew right then we were in good hands. Our waitress Kim was just as amazing. Attentive without hovering, friendly, and she kept checking on us to make sure we were good and boxed up once we tapped out. Now let's talk about the food... whew chile. I ordered the Lady Killer and let me tell you... it absolutely understood the assignment. Whatever magic was happening in that kitchen... keep doing it. The salad was huge. I only made it a few bites before I had to surrender. The rest went upstairs with me because wasting food is not in my ministry. And the cocktail... round of applause... smooth, balanced, and pretty enough to make you pause before the first sip. All in all... great energy, great service, and food that delivered. The manager walked around inquiring about the service given. Someone mentioned they weren't happy about their food and she appeared genuinely concerned as she further asked questions and how to take care of the matter. I was impressed. For me it's the small things like this that'll guarantee me being repeat... Separate review for the hotel itself coming up!...

They had popcorn shrimp and fried flounder with baked fish but it was too salty for me and hush puppies also but no fried clams today. Moving on I explored the next set of tables and the meatloaf was moving fast along with the steak station so I went for the bbq spare ribs and some green beans and mashed potatoes which was good pl as the everything was hot and tasty. For plate #3 which I must put in a Willie. D disclaimer that I only sampled the small portions on my plates no full plate were eaten at least not by me!. Made it back to the steak table and asked for a medium well done piece which I had was perfect because after learning never ask for well done because it become a expensive hockey puck. Dessert was hood had a variety plate with the cherry pie, red velvet cake, apple pie, banana pudding and bread pudding on it. The apple pie was good as was the red velvet cake Alot of the food here seems pre packaged which I saw myself but in a cage with covid and not enough help I can kind of understand something's done like that My conclusion is yes they did a great job today with seating maintained the food line good and the hostess was great also.

No greeting just cash or card and here's you receipt . * Waitstaff overwhelmed. We seated ourselves, after finally finding a cleared and clean table. Waitress was stretched way to thin, showed up about 4 to 5 mins afterwards. We saw the waitress 2 times. Initial seating requested spoons. She told us where to find and get the spoons ourselves. Never asked if we wanted a drink refill during the visit. Just too busy handling too many customers during a rush time. * Dishes - wet water dripping from them. Went thru 6+ plates to find a dry clean dish. Can only imagine peoples hands, now wet and transferring themselves to the next plate in the stack. * Food - plenty of the less popular items available. Fried chicken pieces looked old and well picked over several times. Never saw a single Wing piece in the 45+/- mins we were there. Fried Fish was real good, Meatloaf was pretty good, Ribs were very good, White Rice a little under cooked but eatable, Black-eyed peas good but need a slice of bacon for flavor, Fried Shrimp were more breading than shrimp, Sweet Yellow Corn was good,. * Sweets - Ice cream good, Chocolate and Carrot cake's pieces a little on the dry side. * General Issues - Food on floors, and buffet counters. Small kids serving themselves on the buffet line and making messes. A couple customers loudly using gutter trash talk, like it was a Friday night bar. SUMMARY: Basically the place has turned into a HOG fest. Even watched 2 customers placing food in their tote bag and large shoulder purse. Seniors 2 Ice Teas, $45 including tip. We have tired and retired this once fantastic 5/5 location about 4 times now over the last 5+ years. It just has not recovered to anywhere near what it once was. We don't see coming back to this location.

But South Carolina has the best BBQ of all the southern states when you can find the right stuff. BBQ Barn is the right stuff. They've got pulled pork with quality sauces, hash similar to what I make myself (therefore excellent), delicious southern sides, sweet (and unsweet) tea, various other meats (their burnt ends are yum!) and some desserts that look great but I haven't tried yet. They also aren't a buffet style restaurant which is a great thing in my opinion. They have a good amount of seating but I don't think they'll fit lots of large groups so keep that in mind. They do have a drive thru and you can order food to go. Unfortunately, they are also like other good BBQ places in their limited hours; they are only open Wednesday-Saturday each week so they can't be Sunday dinner or Monday emergency dinner unless you plan well ahead. The staff are nice and the restaurant is always clean enough. When we aren't making our own barbecue, we are probably getting barbecue from BBQ Barn (or the only other good bbq spot in the CSRA).

I also can't speak highly enough if the sauces. I am a big fan of the spicy georgia red bbq sauce. The gold is also great, just a mustard flavor. I'm tempted to buy a bottle the next time I visit. My recommendation - Come visit on a warm day. Order a platter of food (2 meats will give you plenty of leftovers) and a slice of cake. Sit at the outside tables and enjoy.
