I'd give 5 stars but they're using plastic ware instead of metal ware, and styrofoam plates, and that's kinda a star breaker for me. And maybe because it's kinda in a sketchy part of town, and a bit plain looking. But every time I've been, and it's been a lot, the food and service has always been great. It's always been clean. My mistake never got any better just got worse. Selection was horrible tasteless nothing worth eating. A friend was in town and wanted to try a soul food buffet. We went around noon and I thought it would be packed, but there was plenty parking. Walking in, it's like most buffets, pay the cashier, then off to the food. The food was pretty decent, they had a few different tries of meat and vegetables to choose from. An Augusta classic! This family run restaurant has been serving up great food for around 40 years. A trip today reminded me why. A buffet full of fresh made veggies and meats . The squash casserole and rutabagas were so delicious I had to get a second helping. Fried chicken was tasty and the fried pork chops were awesome. Tender and flavorful! Salad bar too with cole slaw and potato and pasta salad. Had to try the banana pudding and a delightful whipped key lime fluff. And course good cooking has to have sweet tea. Great customer service. Clean with an old-school cafeteria feel. They have pretty good selection to choose from. The price is not bad. I feel like this place could be a lot better as far as the food goes. The sides could use some love. Tried the green, cabbage and green beans the appearance of the all was great but they all taste like they are using a particular season in all three that is not appealing at all. They all have the same flavor and it's not good. I don't know what the recipe are but it needs improvement. Macaroni though it looks good it's bland and needs seasoning. I think the biggest disappointment was the cat fish. It seemed like the fish is pre cooked and sitting in a warmer or something before they bring it out. If so the texture is being affected in a negative way. Its chewy and old tasting. It needs to hit the buffet table fresh out the fryer. I tried the smothered chicken the gravy needs attention. The look matches the flavor not good. I prefer an onion type gravy flavor. This had no flavor and the chicken tasted old. The fried chicken wasn't bad pretty good actually. The field peas were on point probably the best side I had. Salad and dessert bar were really good. Mediocre food. Place didnt have a clean feeling. Bathroom had poop everywhere... DISGUSTING. One of the workers was heard saying and I repeat "Oh heck, I just crapped everywhere"... im grossed out. Use to love the place 5/5 every time. Had eaten there at least 5 or 6 times a year with family since around 1979. But, taste and quality dropped during Covid and has not recovered yet. If you want a home cooked country filled meal this is definitely the place. It's buffet style and all you can eat. Any soulfood dish you can think if is on the menu....yep rutabaga is on there. Simple, striaght forward southern food in fresh abundance. I typically do not eat @ buffets (the NE is not know for good buffets). The fried chicken is excellent: tender, moist, crunchy, lightly spiced & NOT greasy. The mac & cheese is very buttery & cheesy, lima beans, greens, mashed potatoes, gravy, stuffing, sweet potaoes (w too much all spice for me), creamed corn, pork chops, fried fish, green beans, & lots of veggies for salad. Texas Pete sauce & hot pepper vinager for the greens. Excellent fresh brewed tea & sweet tea. I was not as impressed w the desserts. I have had excellent banana pudding but sorry to say NOT here. As you can guess this is a christian base restaurant ( like most in the south ) the food is very good especially the fried chicken, and catfish , is a very humble place where every body knows each other you won't be a stranger for long , the prices pretty much affordable for the amo of food. Horrible. I cant believe that they charge $14 for an adult buffet. Who in their right mind would pay that much for this. When I asked the lady if they had a take out menu, she said very rudely we dont have take out menus so I left after that. I'll never come back here again. read more

Not bad, but not good either! Historically, I've been known to write extremely long reviews. I like telling you the who, what, when, where, why and how of my decisions to visit the place I'm reviewing in hopes that you feel like you were there with me. Some like to use sarcasm in their reviews or humor, some wordsmithing and bullet notes while others write very straight to the point. Still others enjoy detailing each aspect of the business from the food and service to the ambiance & decor. Unfortunately, The Harvest Table Buffet just doesn't inspire me to encourage others to come here for a meal in my traditional scribe. Although it seems to be a popular place, I couldn't help but wonder if maybe its because nothing else seems to be around this highly industrial area. The staff was as friendly as could be and reminded me of those old 80's diner sitcoms like Alice. I totally kept expecting someone to say "Kiss my Grits!" The decor is 1980's-ish old school for sure with plenty of southern food items on the buffet you'd find on the table at your grandmother's house for dinner. However, my grandmother was a far better cook than this! Best items were the chicken and fried fish. The meatloaf was practically inedible to me, like it was made from canned dog food instead of USDA beef. The veggies and other side items were okay, some much better than others. But overall I doubt if I would visit for a meal ever again. We were only briefly passing through, but I certainly hope to find some slap-your-mamma good food on our next pass through Augusta. I go to harvest table on the regular for the chicken and salad. The fried chicken is the best part about this place, to me because I don't eat pork! This is a long-standing staple in the Hyde Park Community of Augusta. It is a one price buffet with a large variety of delicious all you can eat southern cuisines. You'll find a salad bar (just ok), several kinds of meats, veggies, starches, and desserts. Drinks are included with your meal. The hot table trays are kept filled with piping hot foods ... yum. I rated this no frills buffet eatery a "3" star because it has been here for a long time and is in need of a restoration... new clean carpet, better lighting, paint and wall decor. The dessert bar could use a little improvement as well. This establishment seems to be okay running as is because it is the only "soul food" buffet in miles. As long as the money rolls in (and it does!) it appears that improvements will happen when situations becomes dire. This place is crowded on weekends especially during the after church hours. The wait can be extensive. Bottom line: Food is decent and plentiful. Facility is no frills and could be maintained better. read more

This update is for the date of December 2, 2015. I attended a funeral that day out of town and not eating at the repast at the funeral; my mother, my cousin, and I decided to dine here. To my surprise that day was a great day to eat here!!!! The food was delicious!!! I had a small salad to start my meal off. I didn't want stuff myself with salad before my GOOD meal, as Madea would say. That salad was soooooo good I wanted to eat just salad!!! But I wanted some real food as well. I had fried chicken, rice and gravy, cabbage, rutabagas, liver and onions, collard greens, and sweet potato soufflé. Everything was DELICIOUS!!! I had to force myself to eat all that because I was so stuffed. I wanted another plate of real food and another salad but my stomach wouldn't allow it!!! I see why my neighbor eats here almost every day, and we did see him come in that day, because it's good food that you can really enjoy. I'm trying to set up my next visit NOW!!! The food was delicious and satisfying. The restaurant space is a bit cramped but they are maximizing it for seating, which is extremely close and compact. The waitstaff is constantly walking around and they bring the drinks to you after you get seated. Make sure you keep your receipt out on the table because you pay before you sit. They do have carryout available which is great if they're crowded. But if you get a chance stop in and enjoy a plate or two...the dessert bar is loaded with something for everyone as well. read more

The food is delicious, and the service is great. The food taste the same as it did back in the day. Even the tea taste down home. Even though it's 40 years old, it is always clean. The restrooms are clean also. And well stocked. The people who work here are always friendly and homey. It's like eating at a soulfood event. Did I say event? Yes I did. Because that's exactly what it is. The buffet bar is always clean and stocked with fresh food. No dried out items from sitting all day. Total comfort food and good ol' southern home cooking and hospitality. I had lunch on a Saturday. It was a well spent $11.75, which by the way, includes a drink. I believe the items on the buffet change daily with the exception of a few "always there" dishes. I can tell you that the following items were DELICIOUS: fried chicken, squash casserole, macaroni and cheese, salad(their mixed with dressing), turkey and dressing WITH gravy, and the potato salad. I just about "ate my back out" on my first visit. I didn't even make it to the dessert bar but I was told they had peanut butter pie. Now I saw the peach cobbler and it looked "slap yo mama" worthy. I also noticed that no one was in a hurry to leave and the place was full of "regulars." Our waitress was funny, friendly and attentive. What an absolutely terrible place to eat! Styrofoam dishware to start. They cut corners on their food and you can clearly see it and taste it! The meatloaf is topped with ketchup. Stopped by here for lunch for the first time today, and was satisfied with my choice. This is the traditional southern buffet, and just about every I had was good. Today they had meatloaf, roast, and pork chops as the main meats. Each was seasoned well. They also have a nice salad bar and a TON of sides to choose from, along with a dessert bar. This is one of the better soul food buffets that I have been too in the area.The buffet was $10.50 after drink and tax, so there are cheaper options but it was worth the price.
