First off, they change the prices of the kids menu. He said the online prices are different than the in-store prices. It's the same amount as an adult. The food is awful. No flavor and dried out. The pork chops are not pork chops. They are cubed pork steak. This is overpriced for the quality you get. I definitely wish I could have received my money back. read more

2 things that make me angry; an employee that blatantly breaks the rules and having to wait for them to put their cell phone down to take my money. Went through the drive thru a little while ago. The food was seasoned well and there were two strands of hairs in the mashed potatoes. I was not pleased or impressed. I tried calling the business to inform them of the hair in the food, however no one answered the phone. I was trying to get food out of convenience after running errands all day, however it is not convenient when I have hair in my food and the receipt states that a receipt and food are required for refunds. Warning long review! - lonnng wait time to receive food and it's not because the food tastes the best. Most people ordered "to go" and waited quite a while for food. I saw one person leave in disappointment of the wait time which isn't told upon order. Chicken - needed flavor. Cooked well. Mac n Cheese - depends on your tongue. I thought it was watery. My guests that were with me also said the same and that the noodles were probably overcooked. There was an elderly in my group that said the mac n cheese was very good. Fish and shrimp - no seasoning what so ever. Broccoli - watery Hush puppies - dry and no flavor They had loads of customers. One customer told us that the stew was very good. I did ask an employee where the restaurant got its name from. The owners great grandmother or grandmother told her husband the idea to start this restaurant for women who didn't have time to cook. Hence the name. The restaurant was quiet for the large amount of customers and environment was mostly clean. I wouldn't eat here or any other of its branches. I've been eating at Wife Saver for years. Everything is cooked to order. I'm never disappointed. My go to is the jumbo shrimp, chicken tenders and the wing dinner. Everyone raves about the Mac and cheese and broccoli casserole. Meh, they're just ok. Both could use some work. The cabbage, Lima beans and turnips are pretty good and of course the fries and onion rings. I'm not too fond of the remaining veggies so I can't say. The desserts are ok. The winner is the banana pudding. There's plenty of room in the dining area. The drive through sometimes has long lines but they work pretty efficiently to get everyone served in a timely manner. A good place to eat to get home cooked style food. Beware, Sunday's are pretty busy. They do offer online ordering. read more

I can't understand the reason for the low ratings, but Wife Saver has been an Augusta staple since the 1960s, and I love their food so much. I always have. My chicken tenders were hot and crispy. My Mac and cheese was rich and delicious. I just hate it was such a small amount. That could be better. The cabbage was also awesome. I loved it. It tasted homemade. Good evening, generally I don't get on here to talk about establishments and things of that sort but when things aren't correct I have no other choice. spending money in regards to supporting local restaurants and when we get to orders, things are not what we ordered or what today my fiancé had purchased two orders from DoorDash for this location when we received our orders one was missing the cornbread, and one side, the other was a whole meal, but they gave him baked chicken instead of fried the fries look like they were sitting under the red light for several hours like a handful less than even that like more like a kids meal portion and was missing his extra chicken, his other sides and his drink, banana pudding, and 2 veggie sides also. As I said this location has to do better with customer service and making sure people pay their hard-earned money and things should be placed in the boxes correctly. It wasn't even a busy time of the day. Forgetting more than 5 things is crazy work for me!! I'm disappointed and upset but they have to do better.! I really wanted fried chicken and as I was driving down North Leg, I spotted Wife Saver, so I decided to stop. I've never eaten there, but I'm willing to give anything a chance. I went through the drive-thru and it was REALLY slow, I waited about 15 minutes to finally place my order and another 15 to finally make it to the window. Once in the drive thru, there is no way to get out of line. I told myself I hope this food is worth the wait. I ordered the 2 piece white dinner with fries and fried okra. My food came out smoking hot. The fried okra was crispy like I like it and it's the best fried okra I've ever had. The chicken on the other hand was crispy, but lacked much flavor. It also needed the fat trimmed from it. I love fried chicken, but I despise eating chicken that isn't cleaned properly. I may give them another chance, but next time I'll be sure not to go thru the drive thru. read more

Ironically, I heard of Wife Saver in the Atlanta Area when friends told me I had to check it out when I visited Augusta again! I didn't know anything about what Wife Saver was all about, so when I got inside, staff happily walked me through all of their menu items. I decided on fried chicken (although you can get bbq or baked as well) and got their three piece mixed meal ($9.99), and later saw their banana pudding, so I had to get it too ($2.19) The combo meal I had came with a leg, a thigh and a breast. Let's get one thing out of the way....these guys can cook fried chicken! It was crispy, not super greasy, and really loved every bite. The meal came with two sides and your choice of bread, biscuit or conrbread muffin (was told to get the muffins). For the sides I got fried okra and potato salad. The fried okra was REALLY good. Crispy, well salted, perfect! The potato salad was actually not very good at all, and I didn't finish it. The muffins were also just okay. They came with two muffins, I ate half of one and didn't bother with the rest. Banana pudding was pretty decent but not as amazing as it looked or what I wanted. Not a ton of banana chunks, vanilla wafers were not crispy, and while it was good to try, my quest for the perfect banana pudding is still ongoing. Parking here is easy with their large private lot. Getting in or out of either exit/entrance are both fairly easy and there's a good amount of seating around if you want to dine in. Customer service was just fine, informative, and from walk in to leaving with my to go order took just 10 min I think if I didn't get the banana pudding, and got a different side Versus their potato salad, Wife saver would've been an easy 4 stars for me, because the fried foods WERE delicious. It was just the additional items I had some differences of opinion with, so i'd give them a solid 3.5, but no rounding. That's just me though. Go check them out! read more

This is the worst place I have ever ate at. The food is really, really gross. I had the chicken dinner (nasty) with Mac n cheese( bland, gross and not cohesive) and broccoli and cheese casserole (nasty and wet). I was pouring water out of it. The sides came in a container you sauce in. Very little container for a side. My husband had the chicken fried steak and he didn't like nothing about his food as well. Highly recommended by the friends I was visiting here. We all decided that gizzards is what everyone wanted at the hotel. Got there and saw the menu and it went left. I ended up with the Jumbo Shrimp Dinner w/ Okra and Mac. I thoroughly enjoyed the shrimp and the okra. I didn't love the Mac and cheese. It wasn't flavorful and it kinda dry. The brown sauce that they give with food is phenomenal. I didn't even open the cocktail sauce. I Okra was crunchy and nice. I also tried my friends gizzards and those were just as expected. I've been to various Wife Saver restaurants since we moved to this part of the country. Pharmaceutical reps loooove to bring this when catering lunches for our offices. The food is usually savory and delicious and tonight was the usual stuff. My issue is that the wait in the drive thru: it took 23 minutes to creep forward to the order box and an additional 25 minutes to have the food brought out. If this was the only time something like this had happened I'd likely brush it off. Unfortunately, every single foray through drive thru has ended in a similar manner. So, delicious or not, no more Wife Saver take out (unless it's delivered by the rep). read more

Horrible experience. Arrive and they lost the Togo order. Staff member throwing trash at the food in plain sight of customers. Meanwhile customers are waiting extended periods for their trash infested orders. Luckily ours was not on the side the trash was being thrown at. Get home. Large order of Mac and Cheese missing from order. Call them to get a refund for their mistake and they refused. Insisted I get back out in the cold, rainy weather to come back and pick it up. Ha, you have to love the name of this place! I had no clue this little local chain of diner type restaurants existed until recently. If you are fan of southern fried chicken, catfish, nana pudding, blacked eyed peas, mac n cheese and sweet tea you will feel right at home at this place. Their chicken is good, really good. Large portions of perfectly fried and not greasy goodness. This location has a drive-thru and I'm told the others one do not. Since their chicken is fried to order I recommend using the drive-thru for your chicken dinner. Ambiance is a bit sterile but our server was super friendly and order was brought out fairly quickly. I recently moved back to Augusta and made a Wife Saver run. The food as sub par. The thing that sticks out to me is a sign at the drive through stating "short staffed." I equate this to "you pay your employees crappy so people don't want to work there." Maybe figure out how to pay employees a living wage and all experiences would be better. Fabulosity!!! I was looking for some good Southern cooking and I found it in August GA!!! This place is amazing. The food is absolutely FABULOUS. Hands down the best in this town. I would not have thought that this little "fast food like" place would be great, especially when I saw the drive thru, but looks can be deceiving my foodie friends. The Fried chicken was cooked to perfection AND crunchy. The chicken fired steak a wonderful yummy goodness with gravy and the greens..... The macaroni and cheese was abysmal in that it was barely done. The fried chicken wasn't seasoned, and it immediately made my stomach hurt. The black eyed peas seemed to have come from a can, and no effort was made to jazz them up. The person preparing our food didn't out the fried okra in our bag so we can't comment on that.
