It was awful from the time we walked in the door. Hostess was rude and ignored us. Finally another waitress came up and apologized on their behalf for them being so rude and seated us. My hamburger took 45 minutes to prepare. Ordered a sweet potato only to find out they don't have any once my hamburger was finally brought. Lots of employees standing around socializing while 3 to 4 employees were busting their butts to get all the work done. Overheard the bartender trying to get some of the employees standing around to help wash dishes because she was going to run out of glasses to pour drinks in! Very poor management. read more

I have visit this place plenty of times before in the past and this was my first visit back in awhile but to say I was highly disappointed would be a understatement. The initial wait time wasn't bad to be seated but when were seated at 4:50pm and noone even came to our table to offer a drink or anything and have countless waiters just walk by with any acknowledgement was highly disrespectful. We finally left our table at 5:30pm to go find a manager only for him to sit us on another side and didnt bother to check on us and the only reason we received any help was due to a waiter walking back towards the kitchen. Decided to stop and grab a bite at Chili's on the way to Atlanta but I chose Cheddar's since I had never been. The service was promt and the server was knowledgeable and helpful. However upon receiving our bar drinks(top shelf LIT & mixed specialty drink) it had absolutely no alcohol, I mean tasted like pure juice or mixer. Needless to say we spoke with manager on duty (Eric) to ask if they could remake in his presence, but believe it or not the asshole told us they don't remove drinks from bill(as if that's what we asked for). Then manager proceeded to recommend extra shots although we would have to pay for them. So basically we were forced to pay for drinks we absolutely HATED. Even though we tried to explain to his dumb ass a Long island drink has the most Alcohol of any mixed drink yet we got a glass of sweet and sour he still refused to remake the drinks. He then explain that Cheddar's had the most competitive prices for drinks, but what the fuck is a drink deal when your missing the main ingredients ALCOHOL? If giving me juice instead of alcohol is the way you keep those prices lower that's not a fucking deal at all, more like a rip-off. I will never return and I wouldn't recommend anyone to visit. Party of four for Sunday brunch (11:30 am). After being seated, waited 15 minutes with no attention from wait staff. When a waitress finally arrived in the area, she elected to take 10 minutes to take the orders for a party of ten people that arrived 5 minutes after us. In frustration we left the restaurant and went to another nearby restaurant where we received excellent service and a good meal. NOTE: While living in Lexington, Kentucky, we ate at the Cheddars there often and we were always pleased. The Augusta Cheddars could learn from them. read more

Not worth the trip... plenty of open tables (with dirty dishes) waiting to be bussed for the next customer. Took 30+ minutes to be seated because of lazy staff. I noticed 3 tables sat in leaned during our entire wait. Two of those booths were never cleaned during our entire visit. Wait staff was lazy and slow, it took nearly twenty minutes just to get a beer. Our waitress had attitude and refused to look me in the eyes when asking about my extremely late beverage. Floor looked like it hadn't been vacuumed in over a week. Manager acted like there was no issue with any of this. Two tables near ours had issues as well and had management around and were obviously feeling the same way as us. I'll never be returning to this establishment and will voice my opinion of this place on multiple social media sights to try and get the word out. Stopped in for lunch today. Restaurant was busy like every other time I've eaten there. We were seated very quickly. Waiter was attentive to our needs. There was a large party ahead of us so our food took longer than usual to get to us...... Much longer. Try to have something different every time I pop in. My boyfriend and I have added this to our top 3 in Augusta. Cheddars has great American style food for really affordable prices. Additionally, they have no need for a Happy Hour because their drink specials are good on their own. My favorite is the ribs, and my boyfriend's is the cheddar bacon burger. I also love that they have a multitude of sides from which to choose. The parking is terrible, and generally the wait isn't too bad--even if you have to park across the street. I only come here twice a year when I have family visiting. For some reason they insist on going to Cheddars. Overall, the food is extremely mediocre, nothing on the menu is particularly exciting or well executed, and the service isn't great. Walking in the door we were greated by a crowd of at least two dozen people standing as they waited to be seated and it seemed as if every third table was sitting clean and empty. I'll never understand the practice of making customers stare at empty tables as they wait simply because the kitchen is slow. We waited twenty minutes and were seated at a table that had been empty all along. The three parties seated around us had no food...not a good sign. Sensing a sizable wait we scanned the menus and ambushed our waiter when he came for the drink order. Our drinks arrived, mine had lettuce floating in it...how? I don't even...what the....moving on...we wait an hour for some cheeseburgers and chicken tenders. My burger didn't come with fries...I was supposed to order a side, somehow that part of the conversation was lost while ordering...I'm sorry...I thought this was America! Where are my fries? Whatever...I didn't need them anyway. My burger tasted good! Not great, cheese not melted, too much bread, but certainly edible. Worst experience ever. I have been to other Cheddar's which were good so for a quick dinner we pulled off the freeway and went to this Cheddar's i Augusta. I wish I could give this less than one star. It is clear the employees, including the manager just don't care. We were seated quickly and were able to order quickly, but that's it. My husband and I both ordered ceasar salads, which never showed up. Instead, we got our dinners with the plates half full. when we looked puzzled, the server said - "oh, your broccoli is coming". no apology no nothing. I told her she may as well skip the ceasar since we never got it. my Husband ordered the dijon chicken and half his plate was empty. When I asked him where he sides were, he didn't even know he should have ordered two sides because the server didn't bother to ask. He then ordered a side and asked about his salad and she said is was coming. Well,she disappeared for what felt like forever. We finished out meal, stacked our playes and waited. and waited. She then comes to our table hand out stretched with a ceasar salad. Really? We sent it back and told her to take it off the bill and then bring us our check. She appeared confused. She wandered around aimlessly for a while , then she gave it to her manager to take it off the bill. The manager seemed perplexed and then wandered around herself, because apparently she had plenty of time on her hands. Eventually she signed off on it, no apology, no table visit. Terrible service, bland food and just an overall disappointing experience Avoid this place, they don't care. The absolute worst experience at a restaurant that I have ever encountered. Waited for a over an hour and a half just to be seated. While waiting we watched multiple people just walk in and get seated immediately. When I would ask the hostesses how much longer our wait would be I was met with catty attitudes and eye-rolling. After an hour and 45 minutes we got fed up enough that we asked to speak to a manager. He was even worse than the hostesses, and was the rudest of them all. He spoke down to us and was incredibly disrespectful. To top it all off there were multiple tables all throughout the restaurant that hadn't been bused, the floors were filthy, and the place reeked of cigarette smoke. I have never been more disappointed in a restaurant in my entire life! Once it became clear that the manager and other employees couldn't care less about us we chose to eat elsewhere and I strongly advise that you do the same. Last night (Saturday March 2), a friend and I decided to eat at Cheddars in Augusta, Georgia. We arrived around 10:30 pm with the intentions of grabbing something before they closed. We sat at the hostess stand for over 45 minutes before being told we could sit at an empty booth in the bar area. There was a sign that said first come first serve but we were told the area was full. After seating ourselves we sat for another 30+ minutes before a server greeted us. I don't remember her name but she is best described as a short red-haired caucasian female. We weren't given menus until we asked and after taking our drink order, never received them. She repeatedly checked on the tables near us but never came back to bring our drinks or take our order. After waiting so ling, I decided to ask a bartender to take our order. He put in our order (croissants, spinach dip, and a small Caesar salad) and was very pleasant. After placing the order I decided to go to the restroom to wash my hands. I was VERY disappointed with the conditions of the restroom. The soap dispenser was broken and laying on the counter and there was a plastic measuring cup sitting in a casserole dish with soap in them to which another customer told me to "dip some out". Thats not acceptable. Upon returning to my seat our water and tea was there (the tea had NO sugar). We then realized the cheese dip was old and very cold, along with the croissants being old and dry (the butter didn't move from where they put it on them). I was then informed they were out of salad. At this point the manager of the evening, Larry, was speaking with the tables near us because of their food order issues and I asked to speak with him. Larry was VERY unprofessional. He went back and forth with being able to fix our order and "I can't get anyone in the kitchen to work". One of the cooks was seated in a booth on her phone and "they turned everything off" were the responses we got. He offered to reheat the cold spinach dip and I declined. He then asked what else we wanted because "you're not paying for anything tonight" as if we were really given anything. I stated I would take anything hot and he said okay. He got back from the kitchen and stated they had closed the kitchen so we couldn't get anything hot. I replied with "so you all have no hot food and nothing to offer"? To my surprise Larry grabbed his crotch and stuck his tongue out then stated "oh I have something to offer"! I was taken aback! We had been there close to two hours, we had not been seated or given drinks, we got cold food with no replacement or substitute, and after saying there was nothing left to do he decided a sexual gesture would close the deal. I usually enjoy my experience at Cheddars but this was unacceptable! I am home from college for a week and my reason for going was that a friend here was having a bad week, this was the cherry on top. I typically understand order problems when going to eat close to closing but this was extremely disheartening. read more

Upon arrival, we were greeted by 3 people at the hostess station who appeared to be annoyed. It would seem that we were interrupting their technology time based on the iPhones glued to each of their hands. One of them showed us to a table and left. We sat at the table for a good 10 minutes before being recognized by a server who just happened to be passing by. Our server was concerned about our wait and lack of attention and quickly tried to remedy the situation by offering us some free croissants. He took our order and apologized again before heading to the back to drop off our order. We witnessed him go by the hostess station to ask why they hadn't notified anyone that there were new guests in the restaurant and he was met with the same attitude that we were. Our server certainly saved the day. Had it not been for him and his commitment to great service, we would have quickly exited and never returned. I'm still inclined to share our experience due to the fact that management was nowhere to be seen until our server went to find him so he could ask us about our satisfaction with the food. We ordered 3 different entrees...steak, fried catfish and Key lime shrimp & chicken. All of the food was seasoned very well and the portions were large. The sides were decent but our fries were cold. Overall, I probably would not return due to the way we were treated but the food is good and our server was awesome! We made sure to tip him accordingly. read more

Arrived tonight early as we had 2 kids in tow and it was valentines day, i was a server for 10 years and understand Valentines in a restaurant. From the moment we sat the server was RUDE. Not just negligent but RUDE. It took forever to get drinks (waters and such, bar drinks aside- not her fault) and when we did get them they were wrong! When the additional 2 joined the party she walked past them multiple times without asking drink orders. Food was FINALLY ordered i did not receieve my salad with my meal much LESS before. Absolutely no prebussing was done even though we were stacking plates, we promised our kids valentines desserts....she came to the table with checks in hand after not seeing her for 20 minutes. I asked for a dessert and she said "oh, ok" and walked away then came back MAYBE 30 seconds later and laid the checks down- i figured she put in the dessert and came back so we could pay and be ready to go after dessert. No dessert on my check. ANOTHER 10 minutes goes by and she comes to collect payment and my friend asked about the dessert not being charged and her response "i forgot about it" i told her to forget it. She brings our cards back and hands them to us and i had to stop her to hand us a pen. We fill them out and she actually comes back and leans over out table, dirty dishes, upset kids without dessert, and take the credit card slips and walks off. TERRIBLE service. I understand seeing 2 single moms with 2 kids on valentines isn't your idea of a "tipping" table... But you never know who you are serving and ALL tables should be treated fairly. Other than the AWFUL service the food was good but i don't think i will be back. Over 2 hours of pretty much having to beg for what we wanted on what was supposed to be a special date night for our kids. read more

Went here for a large group event. They were very unprepared for us. The area where they sat us was not large enough to accommodate everyone. There were booths with missing tables that they had to bring in tables from outside. It took us about 30 min to order. One of the guests at our table of four ordered croissants which took 30 minutes to be delivered to our table. Our drinks took 45 minutes to arrive and our food an hour. When our food did arrive, my entree was missing half of the combination and the waitress did not realize it. One table of over 6 all received their food and ate except for a small child. The child's food did not arrive for over an hour and fifteen minutes. Overall, this was a terrible experience and will not be going back. read more

I ordered the steak and rib dinner with the cheesy broccoli (at the recommendation of the server) and southern green beans. What an incredible disappointment. My server, Kyle, was the best part of the entire meal: attentive, kind, alert, and prompt. The steak was overcooked (I'd ordered medium, and there was just a "glimmer" of pink in the very center of the steak; the rest was well done and had the texture of liver), my ribs were - how can I describe this - easy to get off the bone, BUT the ends were over cooked and the meat crumbled in my fingers, almost like the edges of a piece of meat that's been cooked to death in a microwave. The cheesy broccoli was the only thing I ate, and it was definitely "meh"; I've made that recipe myself much better at home (hint: don't use cheddar cheese as it does not melt as well as Velveeta), and the southern green beans were grayish-green in color, completely tasteless, and very, VERY overcooked, but not hot. Even though this is the closest steakhouse to my motel, I doubt I'd ever go back. The food just didn't satisfy at all. read more

Cheddars used to be my favorite place to eat when they first opened. The buffalo chicken wrappers were what I got every time, but then I switched to the New Orleans pasta. It used to be really flavorful and delicious, but my family and I went again last night and I don't think we will be going back. Once the hostess seated us, it was a good 10 minutes before the waiter came to the table to take our drink orders. The place was nearly empty. From where we were sitting, I only saw one other table of customers. When the waiter finally came we gave him our drink orders, our appetizer order and our meal order. We ordered the spinach dip and the croissants. The appetizers were the best part of the meal. My daughter ordered the buffalo chicken wrappers with lettuce instead of cabbage and they brought it to her without lettuce or cabbage and the fries were overcooked and had no salt on them. I ordered the New Orleans pasta and it was super bland. It had no taste. If they are going to call it New Orleans pasta it should have some spice to it. It had no flavor at all. I added a lot of black pepper and some buffalo sauce to it to make it taste good. My mother ordered the country fried steak. The gravy was an odd color and tasted weird. I also don't like how they bring you a new glass every time you need a refill. They don't take the empty glasses and it seems they don't refill it as much when they have to bring you a whole other glass. The table gets cluttered with dirty dishes. Since neither of us was impressed with our meals we decided to order dessert. I asked for the Homemade chocolate cake with ice cream for us to share and the waiter came back to the table to inform us that they didn't have cake. I said, "That's fine, we will have the monster cookie and ice cream instead." He then informed us that they didn't have a cookie either. He told us what dessert they did have, but we opted not to get anything. Our waiter was polite and he was on top of things so besides waiting 10 minutes at arrival for him, that was a good experience. The last couple of times we have eaten at Cheddars have not been great as far as the taste and quality of the food, so I think we are going to Chili's for now on. read more

One of the worst restaurant experiences I have had in quite a while. We felt like we were in an episode of Restaurant Nightmares. The experience began with a disinterested hostess who all but ignored a gentleman asking for toothpicks when we walked in. We were seated and our waitress came to take our drink order and she immediately turned her back and began interacting with another table instead of listening to the order. Our drinks arrived timely and flat. She came back to take our order, again, in a timely manner. There is nothing more that happened in anything resembling a timely manner. Our waitress walked by our table twice stating that our food would be right out. This was over the course of at least 40 minutes. While we waited, and waited, we noticed several dirty tables waiting, and waiting, to be bussed. We also noticed an elderly couple who were frustrated in waiting for their to-go box, ice tea refills, and check. This restaraunt is new to the Augusta area so I didnt know what to expect. I had never heard of it before, but yet it was always packed every night so I figured they must have been doing something right. Our first visit to this restaraunt was a very good experience. The inside was very nice. I thought the huge fans above our table were a nice touch and the aquarium was very pretty. I opened the menu expecting to see high prices like other restaraunts around our area, but I shocked to see that they were reasonable! Our waiter was very nice and he seemed like a fun guy. Our food came to our table soon after we ordered, which was also great. The dinner was good, but what REALLY took the cake was the dessert. I highly recommend the Cookie Monster sundae for it is by far one of the best cookies that I have ever eaten. I recommend this restaraunt to anyone. Whether it's dinner for 2, a family outing, or group gathering, I think everyone will be satisfied. read more

We had a party of 9 out-of-towners on a Friday evening in June, but the wait was only about 25 minutes. Our server was attentive and answered our questions knowledgeably. The food was hot and delicious. When local familly members came into the restaurant from a rehearsal dinner to say hello, carrying leftover rehearsal dinner cake, our server brought out saucers and forks. I thought that was so considerate, especially since we would not be ordering dessert from the menu. The lime in the coconut cocktail was soooooo good, too. We plan on eating at Cheddar's next time we visit Augusta as well as other locations around the country. read more

I have eaten here many times and had a simple Sweet Sixteen Dinner for my daughter (her request) and I've enjoyed it every time. The night of the dinner, I paid for all of the kids and the one waitress working with me made sure no one went over the amount and each order was correct and on time. There was one time I was invited to a lunch with my daughter's friend and mother and our waitress didn't seem upbeat. I could tell something was wrong. The others got upset because of how she was acting however back in the day I used to be a waitress so I looked further into it. I assumed she had a bad day...could be an abusive issue or anything of that nature. I gave her $20 for a tip and left an encouraging message on my slip. This place only gets a single star because the one good thing about this experience was our waitress, Mercedes. Started off as a 45 minute wait for our party of five. When multiple parties of 4 were called before us we inquired and from the hostess we received enough attitude to water California. We were seated and patiently waited for our waitress. She was so sweet. What we didn't understand was why the lobby area was overflowing with guests waiting to be seated when we were sitting near two bussed tables and one stacked with dishes. We recognized the manager chatting it up with the hostess girls but not doing much else. By this time we'd ordered our food and were informed there'd been a mix-up with our ticket a while later. Watching tables empty but not filling up seemed odd...but so did the ant that was crawling on my husband's arm. We spoke to the manager about the attitudes, awful customer service, and the ant. I'm convinced he won't do anything about those issues...he looked barely old enough to sign up for military service. The food was fine and, again, we greatly appreciated our waitress. Only 4 tables ahead of you it will be soon. 15 mins later only 3 ahead of you. The entire time since we got there people streaming in getting called to tables AND many unbussed tables are seen. Then they call us. Will you sit at 2 tables? No we travelled an hour to enjoy a meal with friends. In an hour and 15 mins they couldnt sit 7 people?. Ask to speak to manager got the inept young snot who says we just called you to ask if you would split up. You already asked we said no is now over an hour and a half if you cleaned off some of these tables we could have sat a long time ago. Best part in back room, as we are speaking to this guy, are empty tables! Why cant we sit there? Because they are set up for 8. We are 7 we will sit there. No he is accomodating us, in his words, by splitting us up! We can't sit there. Told him we were leaving he didn't care. Went to Carolina Ale treated much better. We were calm no yelling or nasty words just worse customer service ever. Never never go there. It wasn't because we were 7 people we spoke to 2 women who were waiting when we got there and they were still waiting when we left! Totally unacceptable never go here. We were seated, don't look under the tables at the booths - the floor is dirty and there was debris from the previous occupants. We sat there for 10 minutes without being acknowledged. We were finally asked if we had been helped. We said nope - instead of helping us they said they would get our server. Finally took our drink order and disappeared again. Finally showed back up to take our order. They were not even busy and it took over 30 minutes for our food to arrive for 3 people. My fried chicken salad had hardly any fried chicken on it - maybe one crusty old, cold chicken tender, maybe. My boss (who I think she enjoyed) ordered the chicken tender plate and had a heaping mound of tenders. I think he got the ones that should have been on my salad. Didn't provide the asked for condiments, had to ask for refills. And slapped our tab down on the table without asking if we wanted anything else.
