I recently came here after and evening out in Manassas. This is o ly the 2nd time in my life that I've eaten Checkers. I ordered a double bbq burger with bacon, large fries and diet coke. The burger was delish. Super satisfying, big and full of flavor. The French fries had an odd taste to them. I think it came from the grease, which I could taste. They were not enjoyable. The fries had a nice little crunch to them so that was cool. I wish they had other diet sodas, like diet sprite or lite lemonade. Only diet coke. The burger was good so I would try another type burger on the menu in the future. read more

The hubs is a fan of their Wicked Strawberry soft serve on a cone. I usually agree to getting some Monsterella Stix and/or the Funnel Cake Fries - these sides are usually fresh-out-of-the-fryer, and sometimes it can be drained properly of the excess oil, and other time, it can be a bit too greasy. The Monsterella Stix are not your typical cheese sticks/mozzarella sticks - it has the Checker's famous crispy batter and is more on the salty end - no need for marinara sauce for these! The Funnel Cake Fries hit the spot if you're craving something sweet - these are light and airy, and taste just like you're at the carnival/amusement park - they are coated lightly with powdered sugar. Tried the baconator, fries , and drink. The burger was good and had a fair amount of bacon. Almost as good as Five Guys, very close. Noticeable was that the bacon was fully cooked and not raw or burned. Added a crunch to the burger. We did like the fries...there is something aboot the flavoring on the fries that adds just a touch of heat without being spicy. We decided to get some food after traveling from our red eye flight and needed some food. We don't have a checkers near me and seeing the sing brought back childhood nostalgia. I mean you gotta eat .... We got the pick two for $5 the bacon checkerburger with cheese and a small fry. Our food came out fast and I was honestly surprised by the freshness of my burger. The bacon was still crispy to my surprise and not soggy at all. I have to say I was seriously shook by how good it was . Our burgers were fresh and not greasy and the vegetables were crispy too . My aunt recommended Checkers to me because of the fries. I knew I had to try them, so I placed my order via drive thru. The lady taking the orders was really nice because she didn't rush me. It was my first time ordering here so I needed time to look at the menu. I ordered the Checkerburger which comes with a beef patty, lettuce, tomato, pickles, onions, mayo, ketchup, and mustard. The fries are delicious. They are crisp, hot, and perfectly seasoned. There is flavor in every bite. The burger was good too because it was full of flavor. It didn't taste stale and the food wasn't cold. I don't see Checkers here in the West Coast but only the East Coast. The equivalent is Rally's and I will check out their joint company for the fries. read more

I'll give any place two tries, because you never know if they're having an off day. I've given this place two tries, and both times I've been underwhelmed. The good: The fries. Total grease bombs, but they've got a great potatoey flavor accented with a pinch of complimentary seasoning that really accents the taste. Possibly one of the best fast food fries I've ever had. The bad: This is a burger place, and the burgers are deplorable. There's really no definable texture difference between the bread and the meat. None. It's like it's been sitting in a pool of water all day, transforming the meat into a moist, squishy disc of grayish-brown meat. And they've done nothing to the buns. They're just pulled straight from the wrapper, so they feel completely bland. The weird: Both times I've gotten mozzarella sticks, and both times they smelled like funnel cakes. They're not bad, and they taste on point, but it's weird how much they smell like cake. WHY DOES YOUR CHEESE SMELL LIKE CAKE? Two stars. On their own, the fries would be a solid five all day. This is the kind of place I'd go just for the fries! But it's not a fry shack, it's a burger joint, and the meat department is lacking where it counts. read more

3months ago I left a review on google on how bad your customer service is over BBQ sauce, and today it's even worst! I was just there buying my son chicken bites, at the end I asked for 3 BBQ sauces and they told me that they ran out of BBQ sauce and could only give me 1. Came to check out the $2 meal deal. I got the checker burger with cheese and a small fry. I was lucky to get a fresh batch of steaming hot fries, pretty good. Drive thru service was quick and easy. The burger was good value for 1$ . It came topped with shredded lettuce and tomatoes. Cheese was ok,not super fake like you'd expect. The meat is not as mechanically pressed and factory handled as your typical bk/macd patty. Careful though the bread was dried out. Pretty good value here. Pretty quick and busy. Be ready! I went to Checkers for the first time tonight. After a day of not having an appetite and wanting to get a meal. I chose Checkers after watching Undercover Boss. It was packed! The drive thru cashier was soooo nice and the line moved quickly. I look in the store and the crew (and Manager) are busting their butts creating orders correctly and making things happen. What a great experience! I will be a repeat customer. I used to love coming here. This last time may have discouraged me a little. We ate there yesterday and the food was no good at all well, the fries were great. But everything else was wrong. The chilly cheese burgers were not chilly cheese burgers they were one patty burgers. their were no mushrooms on the mushroom Swiss. Arguing math. I tried to order the $1 cheeseburger, $2 fries, and two apple pies for $1. The worker told me the total was $5.74! I said I think you made a mistake on my order. No response. I approached the window and restated that the order must be wrong. She repeated the total, $5.74. I told her "How can a dollar cheeseburger, $2 fry and $1 apple pies be $5.74? I moved here from California and one of the places I used to frequent was Rally's (otherwise known as Checkers on the East coast). I haven't been in a few years and this time, lunch at Checkers was going to happen. I had just left an appointment in Manassas and spotted this Checkers and thought I'd give it a shot. Remember, I am used to Rally's being really tasty. I ordered a cheeseburger (without bacon this time) fries and a Sprite. To my surprise, they didn't put a glacier in the cup. That usually happens at fast food places so you get less drink and more ice. So that was a positive. The burger and fries were decent - I remember them being much better or maybe I've been spoiled by all the great burger places here in Virginia. Like In n' Out Burgers, this location has two drive up lines and no dining room. Though they do offer outside tables. If you are alone in a car, I would suggest using the right lane since reaching over a seat is awkward for both the person at the window and the driver. I haven't had a chance to try Checkers since I don't live near any of their outposts. I spotted this one in Manassas and decided to give it a try. Ordered the Checkerburger combo, figuring their flagship burger would offer their best option. Wrong. I was served a pathetic, pallid little patty, on a less than fresh bun. It immediately reminded me of the sort of burgers served in high school cafeterias. The seasoned fries are a take it or leave it item for me, but for aficionados of that type of fries, it might be an attraction. BTW, there is no interior seating; one sits at concrete patio tables outside under awnings. Amusing in a retro way (unless the weather is awful). I don't go to the one in Manassas much because of the location - I live on the other side of town and I hate the fiasco that is Sudley Rd. - but I stopped here last night on a burger craving. My go to 2 for $5 special was still there - the Double Mushroom and Swiss. Mmmm. Reminds me of the old Mushroom and Swiss burger that I got at Burger Chef, and later Hardee's, when I was a kid. (Yes old timers, I said Burger Chef - blast from the past!) I've seen the reviews about the "communication issues" here. I am not a regular at any fast food restaurant, however if you are, this place is your best bet. They have a walk-up window and outside seating for anyone who wants to get some air while having a meal. The majority of customers use the drive-thu, which is accessible from both sides of the building, making it possible for the passenger to order without having to yell past the driver. Now in terms of quality, fat or calorie content Checkers food is not any better for you than the other run-of-the-mill fast food burger joints. However, the food is always hot. The portions are large and the deals are great. They always have some kind of special at low prices. In contrast, our friends with the golden arch offer some cheaper, but significantly smaller sandwiches, and I can't remember the last time my order was actually hot. Eating on the run? After a late night mid week hair appointment, I stopped by...truthfully because my other guilty pleasure (Roy Roger's) had already closed for the evening. I overheard the customer in front of me order a funnel cake!?!?! WHAT??! Seriously, I love funnel cakes so much that my Nana bought a funnel and made them for me at home lol. Food Poisoning. Only two words you need to know. This was from a few months ago but I guess it didnt post. I had a chicken sandwich and fries yesterday, and I've been doubled over in pain throwing it all up since then. It's all I ate, so there's few other explanations. What's worse is that I have friends and family who refuse to eat there, and my husband says it makes him sick to eat there. Wish I'd known that before going, but I will NEVER eat this food ever again!! It's appalling how many people were not surprised when I told them I was sick, and now thanks to checkers, I get to spend $$$ to pay for the emergency room visit to pump my stomach. Stay far away. I like Checker's. Always have. Yes the prices increase but they do everywhere else too. The big buford is a good deal and i love the fries. The fish sandwich is good as well and the bargains like 2 for 4 and 2 for 5 are a great deal. Totally didn't expect such a large drink. No complaint though, i drank it all. Really good shakes.
