I stand by what I say about this place. Really good and relatively inexpensive food here and so much of it! The chimichanga with steak was pretty bready but there was so much meat that the ratio of protein to carb is great. The quesadilla was also pretty good with so much cheese and meat. The pupusa loca was as good as always. Staff is always smiling and so accommodating, making sure we were taken care of. The patrons are also happy and the table next to us was talking about how good the carrot and orange juice was. Good vibe restaurant.

It was one of the good recommendations we had for awhile. The food was really a comfy food and feels like home made food instead of the usual feel of restaurant food. It was really good and would love to go back again.

Chicken Chimichangas $13.25

We stopped here after a long day of touring Manassas National Battlefield. Traffic was hectic getting there but that's not the fault of El Mirador. We were seated quickly and our drinks delivered post haste. The Mrs had the Chicken Chimichangas which came with rice, beans and sour cream. She enjoyed it very much. $13.25 I chose the carne tacos (3) which also came with rice and beans. The pieces of beef were very tender. Delicious. But, the rice and beans were beyond great. If I'd have known that the beans were so good, I would have just ordered a platter of that with rice and some tortillas. I've had beans at many places. These were TOPS. $12.50 Wish we were local so we could enjoy their food regularly.

Four colleagues and I were first-time diners at El Mirador on a Friday afternoon for lunch. We had to pull together two tables to sit all five of us. This was not a problem to the accommodating staff. They greeted us with a big smile and took great care of us for the next 90 minutes. The dining menu was quite extensive, with helpful pictures and descriptions. As we were to find out shortly, there were no specific lunch items or smaller portions. We started with guacamole and chips, which was amazing. The guacamole was the best, according to all of us. It had a thicker consistency than other guacamole we had had in the past and tasted super fresh. Our orders came out as they were ready. My tacos al carbon came out first. The portions were huge with four tacos (2 Chix and 2 steak), a generous heaping of beans, yummy rice, and toppings for the tacos, including tomatoes, lettuce, and avocado slice. It was outstanding. I managed to eat most of it but could have shared it with another. Next out was a chicken dish with plantains substituting rice and beans. It was a beautiful dish that was thoroughly enjoyed. A beef burrito appeared next, and it was the thickness of an arm. Chicken fajitas appeared through a cloud of smoke. Lastly, a three taco platter was delivered: one chicken, one beef, and one beef tongue taco. All these dishes were freshly prepared and delicious. It took a little bit of time for everything to show up, but it was not an issue. The staff was delightful and happily accommodated some substitutions on the menu. We all remarked that we would like to eat here again in a couple of weeks when we return to the area.

Ate lunch here with the wife on a Friday. Quite a few tables inside and most were occupied. Lots of takeout going on. We both really enjoyed our food and it came out piping hot! Typical ambiance and decor inside. It's one of those places we've all been where there's alot of action and movement with great food being pumped out. Enjoy!

SOLID, I cleaned my plate! Had the beef tongue and wanted more. Tender, juicy and did not need doctoring. Highly recommend the place. A little hole in the wall but had a steady stream of clients. Will be back to try the other dishes. Best pupusa I have had to date. Belly was happy!

I went to El Mirador on Friday night. I ordered a Pupusa Loca and a chicken burrito. The pupusa came very hot, but once it cooled down, it was super delicious: filled with cheese and beans and some kind of vegetable. The burrito was a little disappointing. It was filled with only chicken. Luckily the plate also came with beans, rice, avocado, lettuce, sour cream, and melted Mexican cheese: that part was simply delicious as well. I just wish there was more inside the burrito. I would recommend eating there though.

El Mirador is such a gem! This Salvadorean restaurant offers a nice extensive menu, offering sopas, sandwiches, salads, platters, Tex-Mex items, seafood, sides, and drinks/beverages. We came here for lunch, and we ordered: +cheese pupusas - these were made perfectly, with the slightly crispy edges, and the cheese was the right amount of saltiness and generously used for the filling! +chimichanga - this came as a platter, and I opted for the carne asada for the protein - note that if you don't request any other ingredients, the chimichanga only comes with meat as the filling; I'd probably ask it to be filled with cheese and beans next time! It was fried wonderfully, and I was a huge fan of their refried beans! +horchata - this was creamy and cinnamon-y, and one of the better horchatas I've had! The staff here are super friendly and welcoming, and they do check in with you often! The place does get jam-packed, and there seems to always be a wait. However, that doesn't affect the service at all - the staff are on point! Would love to come back and check out the rest of the menu. Plenty of parking in the shared plaza lot. +tasty pupusas! +simple chimichangas! +all foods made-to-order +friendly & welcoming staff! +plenty of parking in the shared plaza lot

I drove 2 hours to this area to pick Tulips. After that, it was time to eat so I turned to Yelp to look for Latinx food recommendations and stumbled upon El Mirador. As soon as I walked, it was a busy place. And I could tell it always was. That's always a great sign. We ordered lots of food (pictured) and everything was delicious! Food is freshly made, but you also get your food pretty quickly after you order. Only reason for the 4 stars is because they forgot one of our meals (there were 5 of us)...they brought everyone's meal except for one. We waited a while, maybe 15 minutes (we were trying to be patient) but eventually went up to the counter to check on the soup. We eventually got it but it was very late.

That combo is rare and I refuse to take it for granted. The food is just incredible across the board. And I mean ALL of it. I have yet to order something that didn't completely deliver. The flavors are bold, authentic, and made with what clearly feels like actual care and love going into every dish. It's the kind of food that makes you stop mid-bite just to appreciate what's happening. And the prices? Beyond reasonable. You are getting so much food and flavor for what you pay -- it never feels like a splurge even when you go all out on the order. I find myself coming back any chance I get and honestly the hardest part of the visit is just deciding what to get because everything is that good. It's become one of those non-negotiable spots for me -- the kind of place I'll drive for and never think twice about. If you're in the Manassas area and you haven't been to La Jarochita yet, fix that immediately. You will not regret it, you will not leave hungry, and your wallet will thank you.

We drove out of our way to try this place and honestly it was a bit confusing to figure out where to order. There are two lines and it's not very clear which one we are supposed to get in for what. Especially because some of the items are duplicate on both menus. I noticed there was barely anyone in the "restaurant" line. Anyway, we sort of got a little bit of everything and wasn't completely brown away. I liked that they let you add your own toppings, and all of the sauces that have available were great. But the taco meats all sort of lacked a bit of flavor. Carnitas are my favorite but these were a bit inconsistent. Some pieces were very nice and juicy where others were hard to chew. I will say the place is very clean and spacious. They're pretty quick with your order as well. The food was lacking flavor for me personally. Overall, I don't think I would go back.

Reviews were beaming, but I was immediately disappointed that the usual complimentary chips and salsa for the table was over $7.00 - hard pass. The tacos looked great, they photo very well. The server was very nice and allowed me to do a la carte on the tacos and get 3 kinds. These fell flat as the tortillas were rubbery and didn't taste fresh. The meat flavor needed love. I really enjoyed the included refried beans side, but the rice wasn't tender soft, but brittle. If I returned, I'd probably try an enchilada to sample the sauces. Overall, I left "full," but not satisfied.

WHAT I ATE - Virginia @ El Garage Restaurant…read moreManassas, VA We stumbled on El Garage Restaurant while shopping around Manassas and are happy with our find! There are tons of Mexican and latino eateries in the Manasas area. Some good, and some great! We think this a great one for great tasting food, affordable prices and authenticity. They have a pretty extensive menu of items. We were curious about the food kept hot in the steam tables, and we were introduced to BARBACOA! We also wanted to try something different and had not had goat or lamb done Mexican style. What a treat! Warm, tender lamb and goat, seasoned perfectly and accompanied with Mexican rice, black beans and fresh, hot tortillas. We'd say the portions of meat were generous, and so good we ate everything! The green chile sauce was spicy, but not terribly so. Watch out for the red sauce, as it may be spicier than most people can tolerate. I'm not normally a fan of Mexican rice, but this rice was very flavorful, with perfectly cooked tender grains that had the rice amount of "stickiness" to keep it on the fork or in the taco. For drinks, the cooling, sweet/tart house made Tamarindo was so good and kind of lemony in flavor. They also have Jarritos brand tamarindo in bottles, but trust me. Fresh made tamarindo is better! El Garage Restaurant is on our list of place to stop for lunch or dinner when we are in this part of Manassas. VIDEO LINK: https://youtu.be/GfoSv3cZ2pE
