This restaurant is located in a small plaza right off Centreville Road. The entrance to the dining area is under the 'Dona Juanita' sign and the entrance to the carry out area is under the 'Charcoal Chicken' sign. I didn't get a chance to dine-in but their carry out service is fairly quick which is a huge plus for me for future orders. I had their pork & cheese Pupusa and Carne Asada tacos which were both delicious! Even though the tacos are a little pricey compared to other nearby shops, the Carne Asada had so much flavor which makes it worth the extra cash. The pork & cheese Pupusa is also delicious at a cheap price that you can't beat. Both are a must-try if you're in the area! read more

I have always wanted to try pupusas so the great reviews on Yelp took me here! We tried the cheese and the pork/cheese pupusas along with an order of the carne asada and chorizo tacos. The carne asada tacos were amazing and super flavorful! I didn't get to dine in but I hope to visit again soon so that I can get the full experience! Ordered carne asada and for the price it was not worth it. It took about 45min to get my food and then the food came cold. I wanted my money back but they said they couldn't give it back because I used card. They reheated me another plate but it wasn't good. Not coming here again. read more

My wife and I decided to give this place a whirl when the hankering for pupusas hit. Of course, although we went for the pupusas, we decided to explore the menu and I think we over did it, but man, that food was good! Casual ambience and friendly staff, soccer was on TV, and it was everything I expected from a local restaurant whose staple is good, ethnically diverse food. Here's everything we tried today (pardon my Spanglish): Salvadorian-style Horchata, Grande Pupusa Loca, ceviche (my favorite), fried sweet plantains, fried yuca, rotisserie chicken, and baleadas de carne. Everything was DELICIOUS, and I was especially pleased with the flavors in their ceviche. It reminded me of Peruvian ceviche I've eaten in the past that used a good amount of yellow pepper (or ahí) that gave it a hint of fruity sweetness and heat at the same time. Super good. I'll add pictures. I should also note that this place is named, "Tipicos Doña Juanita" now and the name on here is incorrect as of my writing this. read more

This place is great. Everything was very authentic and the food was delicious. We ordered queso pupusas, 1/4 chicken with yuca and fried sweet plantains, 1/2 chicken and carne asada with yuca and salad, and an empanada dessert. It was so good! The staff was very nice and the decor was nice. I didn't love the empanada dessert because I was expecting it to be sweeter, but overall it was delicious, cheap, and I will definitely be back. read more

Many of my fellow Manassatonians (I just made that up) may know the location for serving fantastic Peruvian chicken, but don't know the Mama Rosa name. Three different Pollo a la Brasa restaurants have been at this address in the last 2-3 years. After going by A La Brasa Chicken for many years, they closed down and this location soon became "The Chicken Place III". That didn't seem to last long, and over the summer/fall they changed to "Mama Rosa". It's all rather confusing, and I have no idea if there is any connection or common ownership among the three establishments. Not that I ever went to the previous incarnations anyway. The location here - the Rimpal Plaza Shopping Center on 28 Just inside the PW/FFX county line - is a pain to get in and out of, especially during prime Rt. 28 rush hour traffic. Despite my love for Peruvian food and Pollo a la Brasa, I never bit the bullet and ventured in. This past Friday, however, the wife and I couldn't decide on anything for dinner. The wife made a suggestion of "something burrito-ey", and I took the suggestion off the grid a bit and remembered that I had recently been craving Peruvian chicken, so I braved the traffic and slid into the Rimpal Shopping Center. It was just a bit after 7PM when I walked in. There were only a couple of patrons inside, and I was greeted pretty quickly after walking up to the counter. I grabbed a menu, but quickly had that replaced with a small card that had a smaller lunch/chicken/pupusas menu. I guess the large menu was for closer to dinner time and wasn't available? I didn't ask. There was no language barrier here, at least not from the guy working the register on this evening, but I guess I was taking too long to look at the smaller menu and he began to point out suggestions to me. I wasn't sure if he was trying to rush me, trying to genuinely be helpful, or just thought I was a stupid gringo wandering in on a whim, but I let it ride and placed an order for a whole chicken, sides of rice and yucca, and horchata. After a short wait (which I killed at a retail establishment a few doors down) my meal was ready to take home. And WOW, did it smell good. It was a challenge to not tear into the chicken on the way home. The smell was not deceiving - it tasted just as good. The breasts were juicy and tender, and the entire chicken was well-seasoned. Both the wife and I loved the chicken. The yucca was good, but we have had better in Manassas. The rice left something to be desired. The horchata tasted similar to other Latin/Peruvian restaurants, and is less sweet than the Americanized horchata at Cafe Rio. Overall, the wife and I finished our meals with the impression that YAY! We are fans. She would have no problem putting Mama Rosa into the dinner rotation an picking up a Peruvian chicken on occasion for dinner. We'd probably go with another side instead of rice, and I'm definitely trying their pupusas next time. read more

Love love this place. Got take-out at 8:30p on a Saturday and the place was still buzzing and food came out hot and made-to-order. Fave things: + Great price, generous portions, and they don't skimp: $14 for a whole chicken with sides (I got 2 containers of beans and a yuca to feed 4). $3ish for a pupusa with cabbage salad, and the pupusa was STUFFED (almost TOO cheesy). + HUGE menu. From Mexican to Peruvian and El Salvadoran and Honduran. Cashew and passion fruit juices. + Their beans side is slurp and lick good. + Horchata is the best balanced in the area. Not too creamy, tastes like rice, and the cinnamon isn't too overpowering. The only thing I wasn't too happy about: - They didn't fulfill all parts of my order and I had to go back for the yellow and green sauces and my 2 drinks. Will definitely come back because it's close to home and great value, but will be careful to check my food before leaving. Can't wait to go again! Asked for fries and got yuca! Brought my concern to the counter and was told to pay for fries! First and last time coming here and yeah the chicken did not taste right. This placed settled for a bad review instead of correcting a mistake and lost a customer over a potato! The Spanish guy at the counter..... your a real flamingo ! read more

I have never experienced such bad service in my life. My daughters ordered some water in a cup and the water tasted like chemicals. The water was so undrinkable we gave it back. Later on, we ordered our food and it took over half an hour for them to bring it to us. I had ordered the desayuno grande only to find it had hair in it. I sent it back with them and simply cancelled my order because this is unacceptable. My daughters ordered the tacos and described them as bland with almost no flavor. Giving this restaurant even one star is me being generous only because the tacos were at least edible. We have all learned are lesson and are never going back to that horrid place again. Everyone else should do the same. read more

What a great Peruvian chicken joint! Love this place! They're so sweet whenever I go in and place my togo order and I always get my food fast and it's always so fresh and tasty! I always get extra sauces and some places charge extra for that but they didn't charge me which is GREAT! Their chicken is really moist. The rice is great! And the Yuka is to die for! What a hidden gem, truly a must try!! Update: they changed their name to Dona Jaunita. Menu is the same bomb food!! The chicken is flavorful and cooked perfect every time. This is the best Peruvian chicken in Centerville, Manassas area. The sauces are good, green is spicier than most and the yellow has a honey mustard taste but very good. Sides are always fresh and very tasty. The pupusa is on point too. Or try their tamales, also very good. Prices are low and food is the best around. Promise you won't be disappointed if you're looking for authentic food that's fresh and delicious. read more
