    Happy hour small plates
    Ashley M.

I recommend happy hour at the bar instead of the moving restaurant. We intended to eat at the main restaurant but the slow movement made us feel unsteady and nauseous. Plus, there isn't happy hour at the main dining, it's only at the bar. However, once moving to the bar, we had a great time! Happy hour drinks and food were well priced and very tasty! Service was speedy and kind. No complaints at the bar!

Dinner At the top of the tower of americas. You take a short ride to the top to the restaurant. Be sure to call ahead for reservations. The tables you sit at spins around so you get the full 360 view of San Antonio. The view is breathtaking. The food was below average and very pricey. I highly recommend eating at a nice restaurant or even a chain before coming as the dinner was not it. I would rather come for drinks and or desserts. The food had no seasoning

The food is good, however the service takes soooo long! I recommend ordering an appetizer as soon as the service first comes to your table and might as well order food too. Also, the server does not inform you that the molten lava cake dessert takes 30 minutes until you get to dessert. so there's another long turnover time. I don't know if they are understaffed but it has always been like this! Also it would be nice if Christmas music was played instead of loud instrumental music

We only went here for the view and the drinks. I would go back for the drinks. A little slow on the service but the crews were friendly.

I really don't understand the average and subpar comments here on Yelp. Is it people expecting filet mignon and pay for hamburger? I don't know. All I know is we had a terrific time with truly delicious food and expertly crafted cocktails! This was a treat, and we enjoyed every second of it! We opened with appetizers of a shrimp cocktail and their hummus. Our beverages of a Manhattan and chocolate & bourbon cocktail were absolutely amazing! The shrimp cocktail was visually stimulating with the fog coming off from the dry ice. The hummus was surprisingly delicious! My wife raved about her filet and I thought my grouper was scrumptious! Our service was absolutely top notch! I rate this visit on par or maybe a half a step above The Capital Grille. Keep up the great work! Hopefully we'll be back sometime.

We are members of Landry's Select Club. This is a very nice restaurant that we like for special occasions or just a "staycation"type visit. The chefs are always creative and the meals are presented well. We had a steak filet mignon with garlic mashed and a sea bass fish option. I recommend going right before sunset so you can see it during day and when it gets dark with all the city lights.

Beautiful restaurant with breathtaking views. We arrived one hour before closing for a late night family dinner. I ordered the filet mignon which isn't my go to but I loved it. Now for the real deal- our waiter Jason. He was one of the best waiters I've had in a long time. Sense of humor and completely professional. When in San Antonio a must is the Vhart House and ask for Jason.

Service was top notch, the food was amazing, we had the cheese fondue, the shrimp Mac and cheese and fish and chips. My wife said the clam chowder was excellent

The best views in the city. We ordered salad, fish, king crab and the crème brûlée flight.

This place was super fun experience! All the food we ordered was really good. My favorite dish was the Shrimp and Crab dip. I would get that every single time. FYI happy hour is only at the bar. Website was a little confusing about that but no biggie. The server Dave was very helpful and kind! We met both the AM Emily and the GM, they were very kind and wanted to make sure we had a memorable experience. We came in for my sisters birthday and they gave her a dessert with a candle and the server even gave her a card from him That was one of the sweetest things i've seen a restaurant do for birthdays. I love how it revolves so we can see all around the city during our dinning experience. The pictures from this viewpoint are beautiful. they also have spots that tell you whether you are looking south/north/east, etc The one downside was that they do not validate parking. That threw me off because MANY restaurants i've been to usually validate.

Chart House at the Top of the Americas offers great views of San Antonio's skyline, which immediately sets an impressive tone for the evening. The spacious, rotating dining area gives diners a 360-degree view of the city, with helpful signage indicating directions like north, south, east, and west--a unique and appreciated touch for orientation. We started with a selection of appetizers: calamari, coconut shrimp, crabcake, and hummus. Each dish brought its own fresh, delightful flavors, though I was a bit disappointed when they couldn't make a French martini. The main course didn't disappoint--the 7 oz. filet was cooked perfectly tender and had rich flavor. However, some elements could have used improvement; the mashed potatoes, though flavorful, arrived lukewarm, and the mushrooms lacked seasoning. For dessert, the hot chocolate lava cake was promising but didn't quite meet the high expectations set by similar dishes at other top steakhouse locations like Morton's. While it had the molten chocolate center, there was a subtle aftertaste that didn't sit quite right with me. One area for improvement would be better guidance on the pathway to the restaurant, especially given the size of the Tower of the Americas complex. Our server, though new and still learning the ropes, brought enthusiasm and did his best to enhance our experience. Also, the dining area was super cold in some spots and warm in others. Having visited several Chart House locations, I'd say this one was okay, but the overall experience could be elevated to match the scenic setting. Despite the small misses, I was grateful for a memorable meal and appreciated the lively conversation with my company. The restaurant remains a unique choice for anyone wanting a spectacular perspective of San Antonio and a relaxed evening with a view.

They greeted at the bottom of the restaurant and at the restaurant. They were very friendly as we were literally the first ones there. So they were having their meeting before breaking off and doing their job. Ambiance is nice. The view is good as it rotates around. We went full circle while we were there. Food was good but the server could have done better. He spilt drinks as he was filling up our cups , he didn't refill till our cups were empty and towards the end. Which he did apologize. He didn't take his time putting the plate down and spilt one of the dipping sauce on the table. I had told him my son wanted his burger plain and dry. No cheese and he gave him cheese. Other than that we were literally the first ones there and it was great.

We've been here before but it's been a few years. Before you go, know that parking is $25 and they do not validate parking - definitely a downside. When we arrived they already had our reservation pulled and menus ready for us, which was a positive. We were seated immediately on the outer ring so we had a great view as we turned, with one complete revolution every 55 minutes. The view is THE draw to this restaurant. Being able to have dinner while turning slowly and seeing the scenery turn from daylight to sunset to darkness with city lights is really awesome. For the food. We had the fried calamari and the coconut breaded shrimp for appetizers. Both were prepared very well. The shrimp had a great flavor and all three sauces were very good and paired well with the shrimp. The calamari was also prepared well and the light glaze was spot on! The calamari was a very generous portion. The Spinach salad (with eggs, Mushrooms, bacon and radish and warm bacon dressing) was very tasty and also a very generous portion. For our entrees we had spicy ahi tuna and prime rib, both with garlic mashed potatoes. The prime rib was also a very generous portion. It was prepared very well and the creamed radish and au jus sauce were also prepared perfectly. The garlic mashed potatoes were very tasty. The Spicy Ahi Tuna - a big disappointment. The chunks were the size of chunks of pot roast. The tuna was dry and despite ordering medium rare, it was overdone. The wasabi paste was actually a wasabi sauce and had almost no 'heat' at all. Not what I'm used to with all of the other restaurants I've been to that serve Ahi Tuna. I would not order it again. For dessert we ordered the volcano chocolate cake with Heath pieces and ice cream. Really, aside from plain ice cream - that is the only desert choice. Make sure you order it early if you want it because it takes 30 minutes to prepare (we ordered it when we ordered our meal) as indicated in the menu. The service was mediocre. My glass was empty for extended periods of time and we had empty plates for long periods of time. Despite ordering the dessert when we ordered our dinner, it took about 30 minutes after we finished dinner to get our dessert. The upside was the great view while we waited. When my Ahi Tuna arrived, I was not brought a steak knife - I only had my butter knife. My first soda glass had a foreign substance all over the outside - with dish washer power or food of some sort - not happy about that. I asked for a new glass and received one - but it also had a foreign substance on the outside of the glass, just not as much. Overall - most of the food was really good (except the tuna); The view was awesome; the service was mediocre at best for a restaurant as pricey as this one; and the parking was ridiculous. We may try it again in the future but we weren't as pleased overall as the previous visit.

Then, after the sun set over the Bexar County Courthouse, the curtains were opened and we were treated to a beautiful view of the River Walk. The timing couldn't have been more perfect -- it completely elevated the evening. Service was outstanding. Toryn was our server, and his approach was relaxed, friendly, and professional. From the atmosphere to the service to the food, Biga on the Banks exceeded expectations. Drinks were AMAZING! Bartender Rob made the best Negroni I've ever had. I asked him to use whatever gin he thought best--result was an artistic smooooooth full-bodied drink. Told him when I was done I'd lick the glass if it wasn't considered so uncouth for a 'mature' lady like myself to do so Hubby's Buffalo Trace bourbon old fashioned was also outstanding. Rob was the bartender last night who did such a great job, and his work was even better tonight. We highly recommend The EsquireTavern for excellent cocktails. We love the long wood bar and high copper ceiling upstairs, but love the intimate speakeasy atmosphere downstairs even more. We'll definitely be back every time we're in San Antonio! First review, Friday night: Drinks were great (Manhattan and Bourbon Old Fashioned). REAL drinks, no complaints at all about those. And the bartenders were very friendly and helpful. Those aspects of the Esquire get 5+ stars from us. But the appetizers were not good, close to inedible. It was about 8:30pm or so, so maybe they were getting ready to close out the kitchen but the chalupitas with chicken tasted like rubber, and no flavor at all. The seafood platter had something in it that was breading with shell inside, but no meat of any kind. We couldn't figure out what it was supposed to be. The shrimp was good and the fish was good but those other things... We'll always love the drinks, the long wooden bar, and the ambiance at the Esquire Tavern, but we'll eat somewhere else and come here for before or after dinner drinks. Over-hyped, over-priced, unfriendly staff, watery drinks and terrible guacamole…read more My wife and I had a very bad experience while dining in this restaurant during the Fiesta San Antonio. Boudros was highly recommended by friends, and was the first restaurant on our list to dine in during our recent visit. We arrived at the restaurant on a Thursday around 7:45 pm and were told by a young Hostess that no walk-ins were allowed until after 9 pm. We decided to modify our itinerary and instead had dinner at a different restaurant on the riverwalk, and made a reservation for Boudros online for the following evening. When we arrived the following evening for our reservation at 7.30 pm, we were escorted to a small table in the bar that was next to the entrance to a small room. The area was noisy with a lot of foot traffic. We asked for a table in a quieter room and were moved to a room in the back of the restaurant where it was easier to have a conversation. A few minutes later our waiter, Stephen, approached the table. We asked him for drink recommendations and among others he recommended the "Prickly Pear Margarita". I ordered the Prickly Pear Margarita, and we also ordered the tableside Guacamole. The restaurant was busy, but there were several empty tables in our dining area. After about 15 to 20 minutes, the waiter brought our drinks. The Prickly Pear Margarita I received was not even close to the description on the menu. The ice was melted and it tasted like Fruit Punch with alcohol in a martini glass. A few minutes later, Stephen approached our table with the Guacamole cart. There were pieces of onions and cilantro all over the dirty table cloth on the cart. He prepared the Guacamole in front of us and it looked very unappealing. We watched as he added an excessive amount of diced onions and cilantro. Being a connoisseur of Guacamole, and making my own for most of my life, it was obvious that Stephen had not been trained well in how to make Guacamole. After he mixed the sliced avocados, the diced onions and cilantro, he wiped the edge of the stone tray with a dirty cloth. The onions and cilantro over powered the taste of the avocado. Later that evening, Stephen brought a very fancy drink for a customer sitting next to us. The drink looked like frozen lime juice with line of frozen strawberry and a nice scoop of frozen lime juice on top. I asked Stephen for the name of that drink, and he replied that it was the same drink that I had ordered. I asked why it looked so different and he muttered something about it being the end of the batch and then said "I'm not the Bartender". He blamed the Bartender for making the terrible drink, and made no effort to correct the problem. Later Stephen returned with our dinner, and as he approached our table, he ordered my wife to "move your glass!" Needless to say she was quite taken aback at his abrupt manner with no please or thank-you. In all the staff did not have a very good demeanor and were very sullen and grumpy. Even asking for directions to the bathroom barely elicited a glance and the needed information. Maybe the staff was overworked because of the number of visitors for the Fiesta, but the terrible, over-priced food, did not make up for the unhappy staff, and we do not plan to return.

Appetizer was the delicately baked gruyere cheese puffs. One enjoyed the chile infused tequila , mezcal, green chartreuse, maraschino and lime juice. During dinner wines were enjoyed and included a rose and cabernet blend. Everything was great. Everything was hot and full of flavor. Wished he had saved room for dessert. Christian was our guide for this journey. Highly recommend.

Bar Loretta was such a fantastic find. We were staying at the Marriott Rivercenter on the River…read moreWalk and wanted to get away from the super touristy River Walk scene. Earlier in the day I took a walk through the King William neighborhood and stumbled on this beautiful old house with an inviting vibe. We were so glad we came back for dinner. We were a group of five with a reservation and from start to finish the experience was excellent. Our server, Raymond, was personable, friendly, and genuinely great at his job. He gave thoughtful recommendations and made the evening feel relaxed and welcoming. We started by sharing several dishes, all of which were spot on: Pears and Greens salad with lardons, frisée, arugula, radicchio, endive, Danish blue, and bacon vin - $16. Fresh, balanced, and perfect for sharing. Crispy Brussels Sprouts with maple, herbs, pecans, and cotija - $10. Crispy, flavorful, and addictive. Mac and Cheese - $12. Rich, comforting, and well executed. For mains, Raymond steered us in all the right directions: Mustard Glazed Faroe Island Salmon with warm fingerling potatoes, parsnips, mushrooms, frisée, and herb oil - $30. Beautifully cooked and flavorful. Tomatillo Shrimp with grilled Gulf shrimp, white cheddar grit cake, and tomatillo butter - $28. Bold and delicious. Loretta Burger with crispy prosciutto, manchego, arugula, tomato, grilled red onion, and smash sauce on a brioche bun. Choice of fries or tots - $18 (some had tots, and one had fries - tasty). Absolutely nailed it. Queso Fundido Burger with fried chorizo-queso blanco, charred poblano, and cactus salsa verde. Choice of fries or tots - $20. Indulgent in the best way. My dining companions enjoyed a variety of wonderfully prepared cocktails while I stuck with a Topo Chico. I still felt right at home. Overall, Bar Loretta felt like a world away from the tourist-heavy spots along the River Walk. Dining out has gotten so expensive lately and too often the food or service does not justify the price. Bar Loretta delivered on both. Great food, great service, great value. Highly recommend. We would absolutely come back. 5 stars

I've stopped into Bar Loretta multiple times throughout the years to enjoy their expertly crafted…read morecocktails but have never had the pleasure of enjoying a meal here until this past week. I was stuck between a few different options from the menu because so many of their entrees sounded delicious and went with the recommendation of my server to order the Pan Roasted Pork Ribeye. Y'aaaaaaaaallll. When I placed the first bite in my mouth, it literally dropped back open in shock (very unladylike, I know) and muttered "oh my gosh" with my mouth full before I even knew what I was doing. IT. WAS. SO.GOOD. The combination of flavors (sweet, savory, tarte, and spicy) is one I wouldn't have thought would work ....but the combo of the deliciously tender cut of pork, combined with the smoked almond blue cheese gratine, jalapeño sweet potato mashers, and a blackberry jus was everything I never knew I needed in my life in a dish. Combine this with the always exceptional service and delicious cocktails and it was a perfect visit. I will 100% be back to enjoy this dish again and encourage you to check it out too if you have the opportunity to stop in for dinner.
