Recommend: Yes Food:One afternoon after church, I decided to try something new and stopped by Camp Outpost. I ordered the cast iron queso and a blackened fish taco. The queso was absolutely delicious--I cleaned the plate! The chips were super crunchy and tasted like they were freshly made, which made it even better. The blackened fish taco was also really good, served on a corn tortilla with slaw that complemented the fish nicely. The menu has a wide variety of options, from salads to burgers and sandwiches, and there are definitely several items I'd love to come back and try. Service:The ordering process is flexible--they offer QR codes if you prefer to order digitally, but they also provide physical menus, which I appreciated. Everything felt smooth and convenient during my visit, even though I arrived just before their happy hour (which I believe runs from 3-7 daily), so I didn't get to take advantage of those specials. Ambiance:From the street, this place looks like a cute little spot, and it only gets better once you walk in. There's a covered outdoor patio with plenty of seating, plus an RV in the patio area that looks like it might serve drinks (it was closed when I visited). The patio seems like it would be perfect for a cool spring evening or early summer day to hang out with friends. Inside, the space feels like a fully renovated older building--everything is updated, clean, and beautifully decorated. There's a great mix of seating options, from more intimate tables for two to larger group setups. The big windows let in tons of natural light, making the space feel open and airy. Overall: Camp Outpost is a great spot with a welcoming vibe, solid food, and plenty of options on the menu. I'd definitely come back, especially to check out happy hour and try more dishes!

Fast service and plenty of seating inside and out. The food was really flavorful with filling portions. There's a bar and they had cookies for dessert. It's a very laid back vibe. They have daily happy hour. The parking lot is very small so if you go when it's busy you'll probably need to find street parking.

Camp Outpost is one of those southtown gems that I wish more people were talking about! This amazing restaurant specializes in high wood-fired quality rotisserie, slow cooked over oak. Everything from their menu is made fresh to order and the flavor in all their meats is unbelievable! Since their opening they've added a happy hour menu which includes bites from $4-$8. They also have great beer specials and frozen cocktails specials in their happy hour menu which makes it the perfect spot for an after work spot. From their main menu I really like their Outpost Club which is the rotisserie chicken, hickory smoked bacon, romaine, herb mayo on a texas toast. For sides, I highly recommend their crispy brussels sprouts which comes with a side of cesar salad dressing which is absolutely genius!

Checked this place out earlier this month for happy hour, chips and guac are good, have that nice crunch. It's a sit down place where you order off a QR code so service is very basic. The inside looks like an older camper van. The outside seating area is nice and big for lots of groups and dogs.

On our first visit to Camp Outpost we had our pups with us so we were looking for a dog friendly spot to grab lunch and we lucked out finding this cool spot. Right on the edge of Southtown, Camp Outpost is a great spot with wonderful food and an amazing outdoor dining area. They have seating inside as well but the outdoor area has ample space with large tables and plenty of covering for shade. There is astroturf and plenty of vegetation surrounding the fenced in outdoor seating, The food and drinks are perfectly made and, you order at the counter and the food is prepared in an open kitchen area then brought to your table by a server. The service wax great and the restaurant was spotless inside and out. I'm so glad we found another option for dining in South Town and I can't wait to go back!

I had the Cobb salad and my friend had the fried chicken sandwich. So good! The fries were served in a cute little metal cup, but I think it retained moisture and made the fries soggy, so dump out your fries when they are served. Order at the counter. Food is delivered quickly. The vibe is cool. The outdoor patio is going to be really nice now that the weather is cooling down. The location of this space is ideal for date nights or group exploits. During the day, you can walk over to Camp Street to spend time at Chris Park, Ruby City, and the San Pedro Creek Culture Park. On the Second Saturday of each month (in the evening), you can drive down S. Flores to 1906 S. Flores for an art walk; on First Friday, head the other direction--down S. Alamo--to Blue Star art galleries for a similar experience.

*** very solid choice for lunch - try the rotisserie chicken! *** Camp Outpost delivers "wood-fired rotisserie meats and seasonally fresh grilled sides." I found this place by searching Google Maps along my route through San Antonio back to New Mexico. Then I perused the trusty Yelp app to verify its goodness. My daughters and I snack a lot on road trips, so we weren't super hungry. While the staff members were super friendly, one kept asking if we needed more food. We didn't. We all shared the following: + Half Chicken ($21.95) - includes roasted Yukon potatoes, corn, poblano peppers, onions, chimichurri + Brussel Sprouts ($7.95) - sea salt, cracked pepper, Caesar dressing The chicken fell off the bones. It was juicy and tender. After we devoured the chicken, we all fought over the potatoes. My oldest and I really enjoyed the Brussel sprouts, but my youngest could care less about them. We washed it down with some fantastic sweet tea or a Mexican Coke. BONUS The serve very good iced water at each table. Clean sex-neutral restroom with a large community sink in a separate area. Free, but funky parking lot. It was easy to get to even when the lower level freeways were closed due to recent flooding. Indoor and outdoor seating. I'm a fan. Margaritas at happy hour

Spent a week in the area for work and ended up here for dinner 3 times. The happy hour deal on margaritas means order 2 for sure. All the food I tried was fresh, service was quick and super friendly, the outside area nice on a warm evening, the inside nice when it's too warm! Avoid the Riverwalk tourist overload and higher prices, go here and relax and have a good meal. Chicken sandwich excellent, fried pickles gotta try if with friends, they give you a Lot, tacos good flavor, club sandwich massive and worth it, margaritas fantastic, old fashion not too shabby either. 2 margaritas, steak tacos, tomato cucumber salad, chips and guacamole... $37 at happy hour. Great deal!

Not impressed. Cute concept tho. Got there in time for happy hour, thankful but bill was still rather high Don't trust the tip calculator, they include taxes They don't really serve you, you order and they accompany you to your table of choice , then pretty much dump you to fend for yourself. After paying 25% tip, not happy. Inside or outside seating, all very hard on my back, bring a seat pad. Very echoey if it bothers your ears, go outside where they have another bar Chicken looked better than it tasted, very Smokey. Think Costco may taste better. Honey mustard dressing is more like just plain horseradish so careful Fish taco didn't have much taste Parking is free but the private lot is limited Not worth our trip but you may think otherwise

Another great experience. This place rocks. Staff has always been great and the place is very inviting. Awesome spot to hang with friends. Maybe a lunch date. It really is well round for all occasions. The food is awesome. A must try. I love picking up for lunch and my favorite is the outpost club. I switched it up and got the gluten free bread and it was a winner for me. Give them a try soon.

Drinks and food at Camp Outpost was great! It was awesome to sit outside and the Rotisserie Chicken was fantastic and delicious! Great place to bring some friends and chill outside.

LOVE IT! The first time I went, we sat outside and did not have a very good experience. The service was slow, no one refilled our drinks, they even cancelled one of our orders. Second time, sat inside, great service. Food is wonderful!

Delicious food and incredible customer service made this a five-star visit! I stopped by for a quick bite with friends and definitely want to return because of a stellar experience. Shoutout to the entire team for the hearty welcome they gave me when I walked through the door and checked on my table throughout my time there. Kudos to the manager for stopping by to check on us as well. This service along with the laid back vibes created the perfect atmosphere to unwind.

Then, after the sun set over the Bexar County Courthouse, the curtains were opened and we were treated to a beautiful view of the River Walk. Drinks were AMAZING! Bartender Rob made the best Negroni I've ever had. I asked him to use whatever gin he thought best--result was an artistic smooooooth full-bodied drink. Told him when I was done I'd lick the glass if it wasn't considered so uncouth for a 'mature' lady like myself to do so Hubby's Buffalo Trace bourbon old fashioned was also outstanding. Rob was the bartender last night who did such a great job, and his work was even better tonight. We highly recommend The EsquireTavern for excellent cocktails. We love the long wood bar and high copper ceiling upstairs, but love the intimate speakeasy atmosphere downstairs even more. We'll definitely be back every time we're in San Antonio! First review, Friday night: Drinks were great (Manhattan and Bourbon Old Fashioned). REAL drinks, no complaints at all about those. And the bartenders were very friendly and helpful. Those aspects of the Esquire get 5+ stars from us. But the appetizers were not good, close to inedible. It was about 8:30pm or so, so maybe they were getting ready to close out the kitchen but the chalupitas with chicken tasted like rubber, and no flavor at all. The seafood platter had something in it that was breading with shell inside, but no meat of any kind. We couldn't figure out what it was supposed to be. The shrimp was good and the fish was good but those other things... We'll always love the drinks, the long wooden bar, and the ambiance at the Esquire Tavern, but we'll eat somewhere else and come here for before or after dinner drinks. Over-hyped, over-priced, unfriendly staff, watery drinks and terrible guacamole…read more My wife and I had a very bad experience while dining in this restaurant during the Fiesta San Antonio. Boudros was highly recommended by friends, and was the first restaurant on our list to dine in during our recent visit. We arrived at the restaurant on a Thursday around 7:45 pm and were told by a young Hostess that no walk-ins were allowed until after 9 pm. We decided to modify our itinerary and instead had dinner at a different restaurant on the riverwalk, and made a reservation for Boudros online for the following evening. When we arrived the following evening for our reservation at 7.30 pm, we were escorted to a small table in the bar that was next to the entrance to a small room. The area was noisy with a lot of foot traffic. We asked for a table in a quieter room and were moved to a room in the back of the restaurant where it was easier to have a conversation. A few minutes later our waiter, Stephen, approached the table. We asked him for drink recommendations and among others he recommended the "Prickly Pear Margarita". I ordered the Prickly Pear Margarita, and we also ordered the tableside Guacamole. The restaurant was busy, but there were several empty tables in our dining area. After about 15 to 20 minutes, the waiter brought our drinks. The Prickly Pear Margarita I received was not even close to the description on the menu. The ice was melted and it tasted like Fruit Punch with alcohol in a martini glass. A few minutes later, Stephen approached our table with the Guacamole cart. There were pieces of onions and cilantro all over the dirty table cloth on the cart. He prepared the Guacamole in front of us and it looked very unappealing. We watched as he added an excessive amount of diced onions and cilantro. Being a connoisseur of Guacamole, and making my own for most of my life, it was obvious that Stephen had not been trained well in how to make Guacamole. After he mixed the sliced avocados, the diced onions and cilantro, he wiped the edge of the stone tray with a dirty cloth. The onions and cilantro over powered the taste of the avocado. Later that evening, Stephen brought a very fancy drink for a customer sitting next to us. The drink looked like frozen lime juice with line of frozen strawberry and a nice scoop of frozen lime juice on top. I asked Stephen for the name of that drink, and he replied that it was the same drink that I had ordered. I asked why it looked so different and he muttered something about it being the end of the batch and then said "I'm not the Bartender". He blamed the Bartender for making the terrible drink, and made no effort to correct the problem. Later Stephen returned with our dinner, and as he approached our table, he ordered my wife to "move your glass!" Needless to say she was quite taken aback at his abrupt manner with no please or thank-you. In all the staff did not have a very good demeanor and were very sullen and grumpy. Even asking for directions to the bathroom barely elicited a glance and the needed information. Maybe the staff was overworked because of the number of visitors for the Fiesta, but the terrible, over-priced food, did not make up for the unhappy staff, and we do not plan to return.

The orange chicken had great flavor with just the right amount of sweetness and kick, and the pretzel was warm, soft, and perfect for sharing. Service was attentive, the atmosphere was lively, and everything came out just right. Definitely a spot I'd come back to.

Bar Loretta was such a fantastic find. We were staying at the Marriott Rivercenter on the River…read moreWalk and wanted to get away from the super touristy River Walk scene. Earlier in the day I took a walk through the King William neighborhood and stumbled on this beautiful old house with an inviting vibe. We were so glad we came back for dinner. We were a group of five with a reservation and from start to finish the experience was excellent. Our server, Raymond, was personable, friendly, and genuinely great at his job. He gave thoughtful recommendations and made the evening feel relaxed and welcoming. We started by sharing several dishes, all of which were spot on: Pears and Greens salad with lardons, frisée, arugula, radicchio, endive, Danish blue, and bacon vin - $16. Fresh, balanced, and perfect for sharing. Crispy Brussels Sprouts with maple, herbs, pecans, and cotija - $10. Crispy, flavorful, and addictive. Mac and Cheese - $12. Rich, comforting, and well executed. For mains, Raymond steered us in all the right directions: Mustard Glazed Faroe Island Salmon with warm fingerling potatoes, parsnips, mushrooms, frisée, and herb oil - $30. Beautifully cooked and flavorful. Tomatillo Shrimp with grilled Gulf shrimp, white cheddar grit cake, and tomatillo butter - $28. Bold and delicious. Loretta Burger with crispy prosciutto, manchego, arugula, tomato, grilled red onion, and smash sauce on a brioche bun. Choice of fries or tots - $18 (some had tots, and one had fries - tasty). Absolutely nailed it. Queso Fundido Burger with fried chorizo-queso blanco, charred poblano, and cactus salsa verde. Choice of fries or tots - $20. Indulgent in the best way. My dining companions enjoyed a variety of wonderfully prepared cocktails while I stuck with a Topo Chico. I still felt right at home. Overall, Bar Loretta felt like a world away from the tourist-heavy spots along the River Walk. Dining out has gotten so expensive lately and too often the food or service does not justify the price. Bar Loretta delivered on both. Great food, great service, great value. Highly recommend. We would absolutely come back. 5 stars

I was stuck between a few different options from the menu because so many of their entrees sounded delicious and went with the recommendation of my server to order the Pan Roasted Pork Ribeye. Y'aaaaaaaaallll. When I placed the first bite in my mouth, it literally dropped back open in shock (very unladylike, I know) and muttered "oh my gosh" with my mouth full before I even knew what I was doing. IT. WAS. SO.GOOD. The combination of flavors (sweet, savory, tarte, and spicy) is one I wouldn't have thought would work ....but the combo of the deliciously tender cut of pork, combined with the smoked almond blue cheese gratine, jalapeño sweet potato mashers, and a blackberry jus was everything I never knew I needed in my life in a dish. Combine this with the always exceptional service and delicious cocktails and it was a perfect visit. I will 100% be back to enjoy this dish again and encourage you to check it out too if you have the opportunity to stop in for dinner.

We walked in about 15 minutes before our actual reservation so we hung out at the bar and had a drink. Before we were done with our drinks, the hostess came over to us to let us know our table was ready. I did not know that this was an open kitchen concept but I was thrilled when I seen it. We were seated by the kitchen. I thought it was bd a bit noisy but the kitchen staff was quiet which allowed us to enjoy our meal and conversation. The waitress was very nice and observant. She did not interrupt our conversations, she waited until we sat plates aside as we were done to avoid reaching over us, and she even took pictures for us. She also offered us glasses of prosecco to celebrate with. We ordered the roasted carrots and pork belly for appetizers and the short beef ribs and steak for entrees. The food was so good! I mean, the steak melted in your mouth! I thought the steak at Bohanan's was great but I think Signature got the best of them. The service and food were flawless and I cannot recommend this restaurant enough. I'll be back for my birthday and other celebrations/events.

Did the tasting menu and had a great experience overall. The service and pacing was good for me but…read morenot so great for others. One guest was served butter and a pho amuse bouche at the same time so she took a good spoonful of her butter, dipped it into her pho, and ate it because nobody told her what she had just been served. I can't imagine what she was thinking. Started with some fresh bread and a generous medallion of a butter and onion ash roll. Nice touch. The pho came to me cold but I found out it was intended to be hot. I guess if it's not served immediately it gets cold really fast because it's just a sip or two. It was very clean and OK flavor but I prefer the deep, umami richness of a fatty pho broth. Continuing with the amuse bouche, I was served a platter of three pieces--a scotch egg, cornbread truffle and fries, and something unmemorable. The scotch egg and cornbread were OK but at this point I was starting to wonder if I was wasting my time and money. Then I tried the tuna and that was a flavor bomb. Cubed tuna over a creamy coconut sauce with a hint of heat, balanced with fresh citrus and purple potato crisps for some added texture and a tasty salt finish. This was visually stunning and just singing in my mouth. I absolutely loved it! Scallop and caviar topped with smoked king salmon, and crispy leeks. This was rich and decadent and I appreciated the crispy leeks to balance the otherwise soft textures. Wished the lime was a little more pronounced to help brighten and lift some of the richness, but still a very good dish. Charred romanesco broccoli with a romesco sauce and green salsa was served with pickled raisins and a heaping serving of shredded manchego cheese. This was good but not something I'd want to reorder. Raspberry bergamot lemon sorbet was just the refreshing bite needed before the heavy hitters. The Texas Wagyu coulotte was cooked to perfection. It was simple, served with mushrooms, and didn't need a lot of fuss. For desert, I was served a persimmon chocolate mousse with orange, a rolled persimmon slice, and dollops of what tasted like yuzu. As full as I was I was able to finish this all. It was creamy, rich, and balanced with citrus notes. And finally, the service ended with a mixed plate of petit fours which held up well the next day and were all very good -- a brownie, dulce de leche, macaron, chocolate chip cookie, and some sort of citrus gel. In all, I think the tasting menu was worth the price. I think chef did a great job balancing flavors and textures, plating beautifully, and staying true to ingredients while having fun experimenting. If my pho wasn't served cold, I didn't see some poor service, and the extra amuse bouche trio wasn't served I probably would've given this 5 stars. Maybe next time.
