I really wanted to love this place.. The cafe is really nice and feels cozy. It was a small cafe but the way they had decor and stuff on display gave it a home vibe. Me and my friend went on a Sunday around one so it wasn't really busy. They don't have much baked jtems but we opted for the macaroon box which had 6 different flavor of macaroons for $18. They were so good. I only tasted 3 but deff worth it for a try. The lemon flavor was my favorite. As soon as you get to the center of it you feel a burst of the sour tartyness. The raspberry was also good it had a mix of sweet and sour but it wasn't overpowering. The last one I tried was the Carmel. I had mixed feelings about it because I love that you can taste the deep Carmel flavors but oh my was it super sweet. I had to drink my water as I was eating it to help flush it down. I love sweets but that was to much. Now for the customer service part.. we weren't greeted and the cashier seemed to be either in a mood or a rush. But as I mentioned it wasn't busy. My friend tried pronouncing Cannelle and the lady came off so rude about it. My friend apologized for not knowing the pronunciation and then pointed at the pastry she wanted. The lady kept trying to correct her and just look so annoyed. Then she rang us up and proceeded to walk away before we even paid. She didn't say anything she just walked away.. So then we paid and left. The customer service alone is probably a reason I wouldn't go back. I was shocked..
Came here for their opera cake slice. I'm unsure if all bakery items are made in house or not. Service at the register is slow, but that's ok. I took mine to go and ate it later in the day. It was unfortunately dry and stale. White disappointing...
Yummy! I came here in a recommendation from the shop owner of Rollfast Ranchwear and I was not disappointed! This is the real deal, y'all! Strongly recommend stopping by!
We stopped here for breakfast & it was delicious. My husband had the La Croque Madam & I had eggs with som baguette toast. The service was fast. The food was fresh & so good. The atmosphere is cozy & cute. This is "real deal" French food too. It was also an affordable treat.
We were staying at the Hyatt Hotel and decided to walk over to this place for breakfast. It was a good decision. They have plenty of baked goods and pastries, as well as some breakfast sandwich croissants. We both had the bacon, egg and cheese croissant. It was delicious, and accompanied by some greens. The place is very cute.
Definitely a hidden gem downtown! A bit off the normal path, but worth the few extra steps lol We had a few pastries to include the chocolate almond croissant and chocolate croissant -- both flaky, buttery, and delicious! We both had a cappuccino and my only issue was that it was not super hot (I should've asked) since I know some restaurants don't make the coffee as hot as I like it. We grabbed a ham and butter croissant to go and that was also amazing. Will definitely be back!
Hidden gem of a French bakery! I went with the plain croissant, which was light and flaky, yet moist--like the real thing. Latte was good--in a cool cup with a twisty handle--fun and oh so French.

In the top 2 places we visited on our trip to the riverwalk! And I say top 2 because we can't decide between La Boulangerie or Four Brothers, where we are dinner. But pastry and coffee, this place hits it out of the park! Everything is made in house! It's a French bakery and when I say French, I mean it's really French. The owner works in house and moved here from Paris. She has all ingredients imported in from France. Freshest ingredients and real ingredients, down to the flour! It's not on the riverwalk so you have to walk a bit but it is soooooo very worth it. I bought 2 loaves of Sourdough and pastries to bring home and will def be making the trip back to visit!
My wife and I are in San Antonio to celebrate our 15 year anniversary. We wanted breakfast and walked about 15 minutes from our hotel to this breakfast spot. Not knowing how great it was going to be. This was the first breakfast we had on this trip and decided after we are we were not going to get breakfast anywhere else. This was going to be THE spot for us. We enjoyed everything and loved how quaint it was. They were also playing good music but not loud. Just the right volume. My wife loved her classic crepe and I had two sunny side up organic eggs on sourdough toast with an iced coffee and it was excellent. I then had to have a pastry so I got the peach pastry and we spit it. It was excellent and we finished it with a tiramisu! Loved the service and it felt very authentic!
The reviews are accurate! This gem is phenomenal! 10/10 for quality of food! The staff are friendly and take your order as soon as you are ready, there is plenty of seating inside, and it is clean. It's downtown, so parking is......not great....but just plan to get your morning walk in or Uber your over. The pastries are fresh, the bread is baked in house and I wish I could have tried more food than I did. I have already made plans to return with friends next weekend :) The pastry was perfectly sweet, not overloaded with sugar but not dry, like what you would find at Panera. The baguette was perfectly crisp on the outside and soft on the inside. The tomatoes and basil were freshly chopped and the portions in the sandwich were perfect. Do yourself a favor and check La Boulangerie out! You won't be disappointed :)
Wonderful French restaurant and bakery.with fresh homemade yogurt. The crepes were delicious. Service was excellent and fast.

Ohh La Boulangerie, what can I say but delicious. A cute spot on Broadway in downtown San Antonio. Sylvie the owner is originally from Western France and moved close to Paris then came to San Antonio. Their baking ingredients are sourced from France and the recipes are from her and her husband. And they're a local restaurant which I love supporting! We had the Petit Dejuener Deluxe breakfast which includes one pastry (either a croissant, chocolate croissant or bread pudding), a baguette (with either butter, homemade jam or honey), organic fresh eggs made to order or quiche slice, fresh squeezed orange juice and a yogurt with granola and fresh fruit and a black coffee or tea. It's a great option for those unable to decide on what to eat for breakfast. They have sandwiches, individual baked goods, à la carte items and hot and cold drink options as well. Coffee is strong n tasty Quiche is not dry at all Baguette and croissant are fresh baked Homemade jam Fresh squeezed OJ! Makes me happy! And for those in Austin...they opened a second location in Austin West lake area. read more

Ok, second time in, and it continues to bring me back to Europe. The staffs hospitality, friendly welcome... I know a big name bakery opened up around the corner on Houston. For us it's good but screens tourists. La Baoulangerie is small, cozy, and a European feel. Then the food, come on now! You taste the homemade love. Yes, I will take a baked fresh, with French flour Baguette to go please! Downtown residence, if you haven't gone your missing out (from a guy who lives in Europe 3-4 months out of the year) Tourist... You will thank me later. read more

Wonderful relaxing lunch that was absolutely delicious. Just like being back in France. Excellent food in a reasonably sized portion. Each ingredient in my smoked salmon sandwich and my spouse's crepe was fresh as was the in-house made baguette. For dessert I enjoyed the crème brûlée. Wonderful service from the French couple whose business this is. Short walk from the Alamo and a lovely respite after a long tour. read more

We decided to stop inside before another store opened. The place was hopping with lots of customers. We went up to the counter to see their baked goods. There were a few gluten-free options like the macarons, creme brulee, and some other items but they were a bit pricey for us. We didn't stay but the staff was nice. read more
Excellent french cafe located downtown that is easily accessible from most hotels. This was the first place we visited. The iced coffee was both hydrating and energizing. I thoroughly enjoyed the fruit tart. There was a light ganache later between the crust and pastry cream. A French radio station was streaming in the background. The vibe was very welcoming and relaxing. It was a welcome respite from the excessive heat in the middle of the Dat, especially coming in from an arid climate. Do visit!! read more

My friend from France called me the other day to tell me I should try something called a "King Pie" or "Gallete des Rois". This seems to be something similar to a king cake with a small surprise (mini stature/ baby) inside and is a special treat made in January. She had looked up bakeries/ patisseries in San Antonio that would be making them and suggested I visit La Boulangerie. I called in advance on a Thursday to make sure they would have it on the Saturday I was planning to stop by. The woman assured me that if I came in the morning that they would! I tried to call the morning of as well, but couldn't get an answer. When I arrived on Saturday morning and went inside, I was surprised to see how dirty the place was overall. Each table had a mess left on it and it didn't leave me wanting to dine in. I quickly went to the counter to order the treat my friend suggested and was unfortunately told they decided not to make them for the weekend. After driving 30+ minutes just to get it... it was very frustrating. While the items in the display case did look delicious, I wasn't interested in trying anything else in a place I wouldn't be willing to sit down at (dirtiness). I wanted to love this place, but instead just found a place that I will never return to. read more

So happy to find this spot in San Antonio. We had croissant sandwiches and crepes. Everything was tasty and well done. YALL !!!!! The kouign amann ... one of best I've had in the states. My husband and mother-in-law had the flan Parisienne. My niece had the fruit tart. Everyone was very happy with their food. They say 4 stars. I bumped it up for the KA. Cappuccino was also very nice. They have French limonade and Orangina. Inside it was kind of a tight squeeze but it reminded me of being in a big city or France. They play modern French music inside too. Go! Go! What a wonderful discovery--a genuine French bakery with owners hailing from Paris! We indulged in French flan, pecan tartlets, croissants, and café au lait, and all I can say is, absolutely buttery! I adore it and will definitely be back for more. read more

It's a little bit eclectic - as in odds and ends for furniture, decor, menu tableaus and such... everywhere. It's a bit of French attitude - as in they aren't going to accommodate your special requests like butter and a knife to spread it with over a croissant - too happily. The butter they give you is cold and hard and basically unspreadable anyway. And with good reason! The croissant needs no butter!! It is almost as buttery as butter itself. It's a morsel from heaven! But if you're expecting marmalade with that croissant, you're out of luck. You SHOULD have ordered it when you ordered the croissant. And it's gonna cost you extra, btw. Who knew?! Avoid having any extra requests, cause you're going to have to go back and stand in line behind the 30 other people who have arrived and are waiting for the one harried woman who is taking and dispensing orders, while also overseeing the kitchen staff and interacting with vendors, AND taking calls. "Understaffed," is an understatement. The woman has a good reason to be grumpy. Say what I might about everything else, you are pretty much guaranteed exquisite pastries and lovely French things to eat. Worth it. read more
