They also have good little snacks so you aren't eating on an empty stomach. There's nothing fancy about the seating area - just grab a seat wherever and hang out. Amazing and eclectic wine bar!! This is one of our favorite places to relax, especially for a "Sunday Funday"! There is indoor and outdoor seating, a great selection of wines that are predominantly European. If you are a fan of US wines, they have a couple as well. The decor is unique, especially the facade which is alone worth the visit. Wines are reasonably priced they have a nice selection of light bites, including cheese, very fresh warm sourdough bread and olives just to name a couple of our "go to's". From the outside, I would never have guessed this to be a wine place. It's a small building covered in graffiti art and has the vibe of hipster/grunge. But inside, you'll see floor to ceiling shelves of wines sold by the bottle. You can also purchase just a glass to try, if you prefer. As a wine enthusiast, I've been wanting to check this place out for a while. I've been following their events on Instagram and greatly enjoyed their Beaujolais coverage, with my favorite post being one where the owner's shirt had 'left the chat' prompting a top comment that still makes me laugh: "Well, that escalated quickly." I asked the friendly staff what they would like people to know about this wine bar and they said that they want to introduce more people to great wine in a fun, non intimidating way. The knowledgeable staff definitely contribute to that mission offering detailed descriptions of the wines, delivered in a way that shows they really understand the wine and have enjoyed it themselves. You'll go inside to order from the menu on the wall where you can order food as well. They have a refrigerator with cold wine for purchase plus many other carefully curated wines lining the walls. We enjoyed the Suire Samir Blanc white wine during our visit, it was perfectly chilled, crisp and delicious. We're excited to come back to try some of their food and explore new wines. Cute little wine place! The interior is small but they sure make up for it with a great selection of wine. I stopped by really quick and asked for some recommendations which the counter person was happy to help with. I tried a local rose which was wonderful and was exactly what I was looking for. I visited for an event. The event didn't go as smoothly, but it wasn't Little Death's fault. This place is great. It offers a good variety of wines that you can with buy by the bottle or glass. You can ask for recommendations if you don't know what you should get or if you just want to try something new. Prices are reasonable. For those that don't drink wine, they also offer a few beers. The oysters now (although still east coast) not cleansed properly which is noticeable before and after ingesting. Lots of grit on the oyster and even moss often you can find on your finger tips and napkin afterward. This place is SO cool. My trip to SA had a lot of culinary disappointments, and this was one of the bright spots of my trip. I had yelped a bunch of places before my visit, and had bookmarked it as a place to stop while checking out the murals. San Antonio has a street art initiative and maps all the murals. The Little Death is smack in the middle of that map. It is an absolutely lovely place to stop and cool down with a glass of wine while you are pulling over and illegally parking to snap pictures of walls. I gave up sodas years ago but greatly miss carbonation. As a result, I have spent the pandemic touring the sparking wine section at total wine. I stopped here, and they had a lovely, ice cold cava available for $6. I got a heavy pour by a friendly, beautiful woman and had a seat at a communal table. And to top it all off, they have purse hooks! It sounds like a stupid little thing, not not having to toss your handbag either on the table or floor, is a special treat that women greatly appreciate. It is the little things that set you apart. Not that this place needed it. It looks like an old service station, they have glass bottles available with water, have a nice outdoor area, and are dog friendly. They also had a great selection of snacks which I wish I would have taken advantage of. There is construction in the area and parking can be an issue, but it is worth the effort! An amazing and unique wine tasting experience and a hidden gem along the St. Mary strip. Our friends recommended it to us and we made sure to stop by while walking the area. The vibe is quiet and french but surrounded with loud street art and a nice array of food and appetizers. My wife and I stopped by and got a $5 glass of chilled cinsault which was an absolute steal and a great treat on a hot day. We paired that up with their single cheese plate, sourdough bread, a side of fig jam, and an order of olives and oil and it was all delicious.
