We can turn something as simple as grabbing breakfast into an adventure filled with laughter, conversation, and, of course, great food. This time, our morning led us to Pan & Coffee, a bakery and café I picked after spotting its impressive 4.7-star Yelp rating. Pan & Coffee is located on Stone Oak Parkway in San Antonio and proved to be every bit as charming as we expected. From the moment we walked in, the café felt warm, inviting, and bright. The open, airy layout, high ceilings, and oversized windows bathed the space in natural light. First, the bakery case immediately steals your attention. Rows of beautifully crafted pastries behind perfectly constructed glass cases practically beg you to take one or three home. Smile. Their selection includes flaky croissants, colorful conchas, sticky monkey bread, cinnamon rolls, fruit-filled pastries, and other freshly baked treats. My brother and I couldn't resist ordering a cinnamon roll and a lemon pastry, and both were absolutely delicious. The pastries were generously sized, making them perfect for sharing or keeping all to yourself. For breakfast, I ordered the avocado toast while my brother chose one of their breakfast sandwiches. Both dishes arrived with generous portions and were fresh, flavorful, and satisfying. Pan & Coffee also shines when it comes to its beverage menu. In addition to traditional espresso drinks, they offer creative specialty lattes infused with Mexican-inspired flavors, including the Dulce de Leche Latte, Brown Sugar Latte, Café de Olla, and the unique Concha Latte. Pastries are pretty good. Some of the coffee drinks are even great. But the service is incomprehensibly slow. I ordered two croissants to go and a latte. The latter I waited I would say at least 25 minutes for. No, that's not a typo. You could argue I should have asked for a refund or just left, but I already felt committed at this point. I watched them batch up 10 drinks at a time, work on them a bit, walk away, come back and do the next step, then walk away again. Batching drinks makes sense for an order. It doesn't make sense for the whole restaurant. People who ordered 15 minutes after me were getting their stuff at the same time. Drinks at the end of batch were fresh and hot, drinks at the front were of course sitting for that entire time. I could see they were busy, and I prefer to not give people a hard time, but at minute 20 I finally asked if my drink was still being made. Firstly I got the chilaquiles with chicken and my husband got the full three proteins in his: egg, avocado and chicken! My husband said these are the chilaquiles he had been looking for! I agree! We entered flavor City with this one but top notch came the desserts! Almond conchas!!! S'mores too!!! Oh my goodness! Yummy overload! We've never heard of an almond concha before so we had to get it and it was like eating a cinnamon roll of love! The gooey s'mores make you want more! We are it right in the car and didn't care about the flaky mess we made! My mouth is watering again at the thought! Pretty place, but I do NOT recommend getting the milanesa torta, plain and dry, it has no flavor at all. Over price for a torta not even good, worst milanesa torta I've ever had, and they add a salad on the side like who eats a salad with bread, at least it could've been rice or beans on the side. I did not ended up finishing it. I also got the Nutella croissant it was okay the Nutella was way to messy they added a lot of water to the Nutella that it made a whole mess, I would not come back here. First time trying this place and was great overall! I liked how spacious it was, and it was perfect for studying or having small get togethers. You order at the counter and they give you a number, so you can sit down until your food and drinks are ready. Initially, I ordered a matcha latte with oat milk. When I tried it, it was super super sweet, and I later learned that even though it is not included in the menu, the regular match includes several pumps of vanilla syrup. I wish this small ingredient was on the menu, because it really makes or break a matcha for me. I prefer my matcha unsweet. Best chai latte!... spicy just like I like it. Their breads are to die for, specially the torta de elote (cornbread), and the P&C chilaquiles (added eggs, chicken and avocado) were plenty for 2 and delicious. The place is bright and ample. My husband and I love trying new coffee shops, we are self-proclaimed coffee connoisseurs and love good coffee. We've noticed that a coffee shop with good coffee usually points to great food. And on our way to a long hike, we decided to stop by Pan & Coffee, didn't know what to expect and were a bit apprehensive. Boy were we pleasantly surprised! You entered and are instantly hit with the aroma of fresh baked bread! It's a clean chic brunch spot, they have self-serve pan dulce. We got the monkey bread and their torta de elote, we paired them with a triple-espresso salted caramel latte and a hot triple-espresso dark chocolate mocha. Holy moly were we on cloud 9! The torta de elote tasted like a mix of corn bread and caramel brûlée! The iced latte went very well with it, the dark chocolate mocha was one of the best drinks I've had in a very long time. The monkey bread was our absolute favorite, not too sweet and just the right amount of crunchy-ness and softness. The staff were very welcoming, told us about their items and were so friendly. This was an amazing little spot my husband took me to for a surprise breakfast date. The cashier was very nice and answered all of our questions. I was glad to be able to find items on the menu that I could eat. The food was delicious and we did take some pastries to go, though I was disappointed about one thing. For this being a "Hispanic" establishment, which the cashier was happy to state, they did not have or know what café con leche is. I am sure my husband saw my look of confusion and disappointment as he quickly suggested a latte instead. It would be great if this could be added to the menu as it is NOT the same as a latte. I really miss going to the bakers back home and in different establishments throughout Latin America and ordering a café con leche. There are limited places here that do offer it. The restrooms were clean and they were promptly clearing tables. Walking in, you can smell the fresh baked pan that adorns the cabinets as you walk up to the Order line. Staff is friendly and helped navigate new flavors of lattes. I went with the concha latte at half sweetness. It was yummy. Although I wish it were served in a coffee cup rather than a to go cup when I said it was for here. It's always more inviting that way. I had the chile verde chilaquiles with an over easy egg. They were tasty, but I would likely try something else next time. The tortilla chips were soggy from the beginning and the egg was lukewarm. Hubby eyed the Peach Danish and Fudge Chocolate Concha so we got that to go. I had the Avocado Toast with 2 sunny-side-up eggs on the side. We got the Ham and Cheese for Dad. Passed by today while waiting to meet up with my friend for lunch. I bought her an Espresso Croissant so she could try the yumminess. I bought one for myself and a Nutella Croissant which looked so enticing in the pastry case! It had powdered cocoa sprinkled on one side just like the espresso glaze on the espresso croissant. And these things were HUGE!! I saw some new items like the Amore Mio Croissant that was berry-inspired, a Cardamom Cruffin which they were out of a Double Chocolate Fudge Concha and an Almond Amaretto Concha. I'm not a Concha fan but those were certainly unique and am sure tasty. I almost got the Smores Croissant but really wanted to try the Nutella Croissant which was calling out to me. When I picked it up with the tongs, the Nutella was dripping on the wax paper and I had to carefully place it on my wax-paper tray. Totally enticing and drool-worthy and I couldn't wait to try it!! I'm not even Nuts for Nutella, LOL!! I had to rush out so I paid at the cashier's station and the clerk even noticed how huge the croissants were! She said it depends on who's baking them as far as pastry chef. I figured the bag was going to get wet with the Nutella so I asked for a plastic bag after she bagged them and she offered a box which was fine. I had finally tasted the Nutella Croissant later in the day and the dusted cocoa powder was a dark chocolate, perhaps unsweetened cocoa powder that complemented the creamy, chocolatey Nutella. This might be dangerous, LOL!! YOLO!! ;-) The parking lot can get full since there are other businesses who have designated signs for them in the small lot but walk across the way and there are dedicated parking spots for Pan & Coffee marked on the pavement. Exploring coffee shops nearby has been on my to-do list this past year. This one has quickly become one of my favorites thanks to their pastries. Shout out to the smores croissant! Their breakfast menu isn't extensive, but the food is really good. The egg sandwich was surprisingly very filling and will probably be my go to from now on. I've tried most of their specialty lattes, and always find myself wanting a stronger cup of coffee. The flavors are good but sort of muted. I can't tell if it's a me problem, but I also feel like the lattes never come out hot enough. I don't mind too much considering their coffee prices aren't as outrageous as other coffee shops. Parking can sometimes be a pain since the lot is shared with a few medical offices. Expecting the medical offices to be closed on the weekend, I was surprised at how full the lot was on a Saturday morning. A quick lap or two around though and I was able to find a spot, so don't be discouraged if you see a full lot because they're worth the visit. read more

Very extremely impressed. Walking in to the smell and sight of bread being made fresh was instantly exciting. Made me ready to try the food. They have such nice looking and creative pastries. They match the look too, very good. The s'mores croissant was so much better than anything I could have imagined it to be. Perfectly sweet, moist, and crisp at the same time. So so impressive. The chai tea latte was also very nice. Super smooth and tasty, just about perfect. The staff was so pleasant as well. They were quick to work on our order and coffees. On top of that super accommodative even offering us another plate to help with our table space as we were working on assignments. So considerate! This has always been one of our go to places for work breakfast meetings but we decided to head here for family brunch Easter Saturday so we skip the crowds on Sunday! Place was packed but service was fast and there were plenty of tables both inside and out. We got some pastries to go ready for Easter as these are always superb and this time I deviated from my normal oats bowl ( which is pretty fabulous) and tried their spinach quiche which was delicious and had a perfect crust - hard to find them this well made! Before heading to the counter, grab a tray and pair of tongs and pick your pan from the large selection encased for you to choose. Then head to the counter to order your drink and foods. There are so many pan selections to choose from that I almost couldn't decide. I ended up trying two and they were amazing! My latte was a little too sweeet but still pretty tasty. We absolutely loved our visit to Pam & Coffee! We were looking for a quaint brunch spot that wouldn't be super packed, but still had great food. Pan & Coffee hit all of our marks. Once we arrived we were all in awe of their bakery display, that featured a ton of interesting and yummy treats, including a double fudge concha that looked to die for. We stopped by here since we happened to be in the area and wanted to try a new coffee place. When you walk in the entry way is plenty wide enough for you to feel like you can breathe. The seating is slightly blocked off due to several pastry cases that are self service. There are metal trays and parchment paper so you can select you own bread, muffin, concha, etc. if you want it warmed you just ask at the counter. This is such a great concept! When you approach the counter there are menus hanging above the cashier - the writing is kind of small, but I also have glasses so maybe I just need my prescription checked lol. The menu is fairly diverse offering traditional breakfasts, Mexican inspired breakfasts, and a few other options. We ordered two of the chilaquiles options- one with red salsa and one with green. I added chicken and eggs to mine and it was delightful. The chips remained nice and crunchy and the shredded chicken was still moist. We also got the cinnamon roll pancakes - they were HUGE so I'm glad we shared. It comes with a sweet icing as well as syrup, plus the bread is a little sweet so it can be a little overwhelming if you're not big on sugary breakfasts. I opted out of the syrup on my half and it was perfect, my husband drowned his side in syrup and I couldn't handle the sweetness. There are quite a few spots to sit that include tables and half table/ half booths which was a nice option. It was reasonably busy while we were there, but the food still came out fast and it was relatively quiet considering how busy it was there. The coffee was good, but my husband felt it was too strongly of coffee (he likes very sweet coffees) so I went to their drink station. There's an area with sugar and creamer available for customers so I was able to fix his coffee to his liking perfectly. While the food and coffee were both pretty good, we wouldn't necessarily go out of our way to go back. It's almost 30 minutes away from our home and it's quite a trek so maybe we would be back if we happen to be in the area again. read more
