I wasn't a fan of the chai latte that I ordered, and neither those who ordered the matcha. But my coworker who frequents this place stated the London fog, baked goods, and drop coffee were all good. I have been here several times but always in a hurry so I don't always get to take pictures. Once again I had to hurry but I managed to snap this picture of my cafe de olla to go and it was AMAZING!! Selection of teas and coffees and special drinks. Ambience is a bit industrial, with most customers working on computers. Outside is more pleasant with several tables. Food was brought out, pleasant staff. Sandwich was decent enough but not much flavor and it was just the sandwich for the price no chips. Adding chips was $3 which was high to me. Was surprised they didn't accept cash, which seems to be the trend nowadays. I mentioned I like to use cash because it cuts the processing cost and for me I don't need to pay the bill later. The guy said well some people don't have checking accounts so it's better for the "marginalized" people which I thought nonsensical. I had the avocado toast which comes on one long piece of toast with fresh pesto, soft ricotta cheese, sliced avocado and a fried egg on top. It was delicious and the garlic flavor from the pesto left a pleasant aftertaste. My partner had the 5 spice pancakes that came with a large serving of real whipped cream on top. I like any type of whipped cream from canned to cool whip but always find freshly whipped cream a special treat. They list the local farms they source the ingredients from on the mirrors in the wall which was good to see. Came on a Sunday afternoon (12:30) and there was a short line to order. They have a nice variety of brunch/lunch items to choose from. We decided on the Extra Fine Breakfast platter and some coffee. We also came on a day they were having a pop up shop and dj in the parking lot. Our coffees came out relatively quick but the food did take over half hour to be served. My boyfriend and I came to this spot on a whim last weekend and oh my goshhhh it was great! We had something similar to a breakfast sampler plate. It came with 2 eggs, 2 strips of bacon, 2 sausage patties, potato wedges, and some toasted sour dough. How have I not reviewed EF before now?! It is maybe my favorite place to hang, eat breakfast or brunch, or sip coffee in San Antonio. First, the staff. They are not just friendly; they are comfort. I've only known them 2-3 years but it feels like a lifetime. Being greeted by name makes me feel I'm home. They are all tops but Jade is extraordinary. Jade is the type of employee that makes customers keep coming back. I always get the Extra Fine Breakfast on weekends. It's the best deal but also has it all. The drip coffee is robust and excellent. I always get a refill for $1 more. Now, the bakery. I haven't tried them all (I'm not a big berry guy). But the handpies are not to be missed. Delicate buttery pastry folded around ham. The cinnamon bun or anything is great. But I found what may be the best cookie in the world. It's a hidden miracle of sorts because it's called a Rye Choc Chip Cookie. It's almost soft, almost crunchy, not too sweet, a bit salty, no trace of a rye taste, and rich chocolate. The first one I took for my drive home. I had to pull over... Finally, the ambiance, no- vibe. I'm a Texan by birth but yearn for Tribeca and SoHo, Union Square and West Village. This is the only place in San Antonio that takes me there. Go and enjoy. When I visit a new place, I like to keep it simple, especially with the prices of today. I came in with a party of five. Everyone ordered for themselves at the counter. None of us got our food at once so each of us were eating one by one, someone in my party waited about 45 minutes for her breakfast after she had to remind one of the employees about it twice, it would be nice if the employees would wear some type of matching shirt so we know who's who. Another Patron actually thought that I was an employee because I was up serving water for my party, (its self serve.) The only condiments I saw was a bottle of crystal hot sauce. It would've been nice to see some jam for the toast and some ketchup for the potatoes and some salt and pepper packets , My scrambled eggs were perfectly cooked. The potatoes were perfectly cooked. The bacon was perfectly cooked good quality, the sausage tasted homemade,The bread was perfectly toasted. My plate came out hot. (Thank God and Thank you Chef) I have no complaints about the food. This drink has such a kick with all the spices. It's pretty much what expected. Reminded me of yummy Indian food. I also ordered the blueberry Yuzu muffin. Yuzu is a citrus so the muffin had a zingy taste. Not as apparent as all the spices in the Golden Milk. Overall I'd order both again. The service was good, only a few patrons dining in and outside.
