Place is easy to get to, I love the fact that they also have easy parking. The place itself of very cute, love the plants that are all over the place. The Vietnamese coffee is a big no for me, the baby spice is great, creamy, and strong. The sandwiches were really good and was super surprised by the size of it. The service was awesome and they corrected the Vietnamese by adding some cream and it was wayyy better.
I stopped by the "newsstand" coffee shop for an afternoon pick me up, after having brunch next door.. it was my first time here. I had heard about it and couldn't pin point its actual location (visually). I had driven past many times and never noticed it until today! So glad I finally tried it because the iced coffee I got for my friend and me was perfection!! I ordered us the pillow talk, which is a burnt honey, horchata latte with coconut notes! Ohhhmmmmgggg one of the most delicious lattes I've ever had! My husband mentioned to me later that day that he heard their food is delicious as well, so I will most definitely be back to try a different drink and something to eat! Service was great and ambiance was casual/welcoming. Very cozy and pretty aesthetic with a little shop in the back area! Highly recommend!
On JOSEPHINE in the UIW neighborhood, specializing in CAFFEINATED & BREADY things, THE VIBE is young, trendy, cool. Inside fills up quickly on the weekend, but outdoors is free like fresh air (due to the heat?!). SANTIAGO & KHASHIANA are what I wish I was like (when I was their age), but at least they let me hang here. Also noteworthy for tasty & grammable PROUD MARY COFFEE, POPPI & SPECIAL MATCHA drinks (here or to-go). A Premium ("CURIOUS") YELLOW HONEY CAPPUCCINO from Costa Rica (my notes): Roasted cereal & milk chocolate, smooth finish. The kitchen was lacking some menu ingredients and 2 orders later, landed on some AVO TOAST - Toasty, crusty bread with a generous portion of avocado & tomato, topped with high-quality EVOO & sprouts. Simple, fresh, BYO sea salt. Good, could be better, have had best.
I had seen this place on TikTok before and always had it on a list of places to try and WHAM, I just so happened to be in the area. Thankfully, I came during the week and it was super slow here, so it was the perfect storm. Parking for me was easy, but I can see how it can be a pain. The interior was very open feeling, high vaulted ceilings and bright with big windows, a decent amount of seats. The service was great, felt welcomed the second i walked in! I ordered a bagel sando and two drinks, specially the cosmo and Wanda! Now THAT was good, I had never had matcha until then, it was super good, actually got me hooked on chasing that matcha flavor now. Everything was super good, it's just a little pricey.
The prices here are pretty steep at $9 for one of their regular size specialty coffees and $16 for their lox bagel sandwiche. Both were delicious, but on the price alone, I feel like I could get similar quality elsewhere. The service here was typical. Nothing special but not bad either. The shop is cute with plants and nice lighting. It's a nice place to come have a conversation with a friend or even a coffee date. Their pastries looked delicious. I haven't decided if I'd come back here or not. I liked what I got, but didn't truly feel like the it justified the cost.
I visited San Antonio a few months ago and I'm STILL dreaming of this place! I only had a couple days there and originally I wanted to try multiple cafe's but once I tried Newstand that was it, this is the only place I came to for the rest of the trip. I don't even know where to start, everything was 10/10. At first I seen the price of the Bacon egg and cheese sandwich and I was a little scared but I was hungry so I got it. Completely worth it! That bread is so fresh the whole sandwich was just perfection. My matcha... again I was planning to try different things this trip but the Miss Honey matcha just did it for me. And I loved the honeycomb in there it was a yummy treat. The staff were nice, friendly and honestly I loved their styles haha. I love the whole concept and vibe of this place, the menus are super cute too and I love all the natural light that comes in from the big windows. They even had a thrift room! I'd be a regular here if I lived in San Antonio!!
This place is a little hidden but so glad we decided to come here for our girls coffee. I love that they validate parking, what a great way to support people coming to the space. I got the lox bagel, it was amazing! It was such a big portion, my friend and I split it. I also got the tang ten matcha & it was delicious! Tasted like a creamsicle on top and then was less sweet in the best way. I'll be back! I like the vintage thrift option as a cute side quest. I will say that seating was limited, it was full when we got there and we were a group of 3, so the only options for us to sit and talk was the couch or the bar which made it hard to talk. Maybe it's a more study or work environment.
Recommend: Maybe I really enjoyed checking out The Newstand. The location is great, though parking was a little tricky to figure out. Inside, the space is on the smaller side, but the high ceilings and huge windows make it feel open and spacious. There's also a long bench facing outside, but with current construction going on, outdoor seating isn't really an option right now. The shop is clean, bright, and thoughtfully designed. In the back, there's a small retail area with an assortment of knickknacks, clothing pieces, and books, which adds a nice, unique touch. They offer coffee, matcha, breakfast and lunch options, and even a happy hour. Service was very quick and staff were friendly. I ordered the Tang Ten with Texas tangerine syrup, Kyoto matcha, and vanilla cold foam, and it was--perfectly balanced with just the right amount of sweetness for me. Overall, it's a charming spot with good vibes and solid drink options. I'd definitely recommend checking it out if you're in the area.
I was throughly surprised at how much I liked this place. The prices are on the higher side but the quality is pretty solid. I got the french dip sandwich as well which had great flavor. I wish the bread held up a bit better because the bottom was very soggy. I also think it should be on a bigger plate. It's a very very messy meal. I also got the miso latte and the matcha. I wasn't impressed with the matcha but the miso was good even though it didn't have much miso flavor (so a little gimmicky). They also charge for special milk (latte is already 8-9 bucks) which is kind of insane pricing wise because they don't list the price on the menu for alterations. They don't offer the coffee hot so if you want it hot maybe ask. Service is very nice, they do get VERY busy. We were lucky to get some seats next to outlets because there's not a lot of seats that have outlets and the seats are not comfortable.
I tried them again, wondering if maybe I was too quick to judge the prices. I was not. I got an iced chai tea for $9 and the tea itself tasted like plastic. They add on so many fees. I wish I could like this place and respect their prices. They are very honest on their instagram "home of the $9 latte". I find it a bit arrogant BUT maybe not my sense of humor and definitely not my coffee/tea preference. Mila coffee and estate coffee are too close by for me to come here again.
Finally made my first visit to The Newstand after wanting to check it out for awhile, and it definitely lived up to the vibe I was hoping for! I stopped by during the early afternoon after lunch, so it wasn't too busy and ordering was quick and easy. The employees at the register were super friendly, answered my questions, and made the experience welcoming for a first-time visitor. Although I had already eaten beforehand and didn't get to try any of the sandwiches or food items yet, the menu looked delicious and gave me plenty of reasons to come back. I did order an iced vanilla latte with almond milk, and it was so good -- smooth, flavorful, and honestly hard to put down. The decor and ambiance were probably one of my favorite parts. The space has a very chill, cozy atmosphere that makes it a great spot to catch up with a friend or just hang out for awhile without feeling rushed. My drink also came out pretty quickly, which I appreciated. One thing I was initially concerned about was parking, but I ended up finding street parking about a block away pretty easily. I could definitely see parking becoming more difficult during busier times in the area though, so that's probably something to keep in mind depending on when you visit. Looking forward to coming back soon to finally try the food!
I finally go to try this place! It's street parking, so you have to get lucky or park a street or two over, which is no big deal. There is also a parking garage on the backside where the first 30 min are free. The building has the tallest ceilings and a ton of natural light. It was crowded and the doors were constantly moving with all the business they got. I had a black cold brew, which was fantastic! I ordered a sticky bun, which was large and gooey and warm- seriously it was the best sticky bun I have ever had! I should've bought more! I had the Delicious Protein bowl, which was delicious with the right amount of flavor and spice! I was very happy with it and would eat it again. Don't wait like I did to try this place! Serious coffee, and serious food. The sandwiches I saw people order looked phenomenal!
I had never heard of The Newstand until a friend of mine suggested we eat there for brunch. When I first looked at the menu, I was a bit taken aback by the high prices. This menu read like an Austin menu! The place looked cute but it's still San Antonio, I thought... Still, I decided to bite the bullet and ordered a breakfast toast. I didn't know what to expect, but it wasn't what I was served... I got a plate with TWO toasts (what!) and they were generously topped with fruit and caramel on gluten free bread. I'm not celiac but I can still appreciate that the bread was pretty good, especially for being gluten free. The portion was so generous that I couldn't eat it all. I also ordered a brownie and it turned out to be MASSIVE. Also delicious. The coffee was good. So what can I say other than it was worth it!
Come early because they sell out of the baked goods. This place is very beautiful and equally delicious. We came here for matcha and coffee and we left very impressed. My banana bread matcha was probably one of the best bananas matcha I've had. All the syrups are house made and they are very unique. It was busy but the staff were pretty fast and also really nice. We want to come back to have breakfast and baked goods. read more

We visited this location for lunch on a Friday. food: I ordered the pickle country club and my hubby ordered the tribune.. both sandwiches were served warm mine was wrapped in butcher paper and cut in half, the tribune was served whole. The only complaint with the tribune was the wetness of the sandwich.. within a few minutes it was soggy. Other than that the flavor was good and nice presentation. Sandwiches do not come with anything I think for the price point chips should have been served with them. Drinks: huge menu of alcoholic and no alcoholic drinks (actually more drinks that food options) we ordered a flight of sweet wines and a glass of a red blend. Both were priced comparable to downtown establishments however the flight portions were small in my opinion. Location: downtown San Antonio across from the pearl on Broadway. A few free parking spots across the street and a parking a Garage attached to the bldg. overflow seating outside of inside gets packed. Typical coffee shop with people working on laptops. Staff seemed to be super busy had to ask for tables to be cleaned prior to eating and for water glasses. (Water is self serve) read more

Great drinks and food! The bagel with salmon and morning yogurt were both delicious -- fresh, flavorful, and beautifully presented. Their drinks are fun and creative, and you can tell they put real thought into the menu. The inside is pretty small with limited seating, so you might have to wait a bit for a table, but it's totally worth it. Bonus points for validated parking in the attached garage -- super convenient, especially for this area. Such a cute spot for coffee or brunch. Been here a couple of times, and will definitely be back for more! read more

The Newstand gave me a New York vibe. Cozy, high ceiling and every part of the location utilizes. The coffee was outstanding. I ordered a large, and it was huge! Prices are a tad higher than other places, but definitely worth it for quality and taste. My husband was impressed with the breakfast sandwich, he complimented the chef as we were leaving. I loved the Greek yogurt bowl. The yogurt was topped with fruit and honey. read more
I'm not gunna lie, I thought I was going to be getting a smaller or more bodega style breakfast sandwich. It was too big for just one person. Def would be served better as a half sandwich with fruit or something. Still was good though. Coffee is probably better ordered to-go. Sometimes I feel like you get more coffee that way. The vibes are fun here but very much a more boujie NY newsstand vibe, which means a little on the pricier side. read more
Great breakfast or lunch spot! Their drinks are phenomenal and aesthetically pleasing with some unique and rotating flavors. Sandwiches are great too! Plus there's a cute little vintage shop and merch in the back which is cool. Place is a little pricey but worth it. read more

Delicious surprise! I need to meet my attorney in this building and I came across a new stand and homemade bread, delicious sandwiches, tea and coffees. I have lots of help getting low carb options even though I did eat some bread ...a sandwich I couldn't resist.. the place is funky cool with plenty to read and there's a little back room as well. It's a must try if you are downtown. Service is excellent! read more
Since the building is being renovated it was hard to find, not going to lie. The inside is cute but small. The staff were great, they helped and explained everything. The cinnamon roll was very tasty and large portion. The coffee was really good I had the "paper route" I had some of my friends avocado toast, it was really good. read more

This is my second time going here. So far the breakfast items are pretty good and they're pretty large. I do feel like the coffee is not super strong. I do think it's a cute place in a nice area though. read more
I came in on a whim since I happened to be in the area and I'm so glad I made the choice. This place is amazing! The barista was super helpful when it came to the menu items and I ended up getting the brown sugar matcha and bagel sandwich. This was probably THE BEST salmon bagel sandwich I've ever had. Every ingredient tasted fresh and complimented each other. The matcha was nothing too sweet and I could taste the hint of brown sugar in each sip. Some people like to complain about the prices here, but I really think it's worth it, IMO. Everything is made in house. Will definitely be back to try their happy hour menu read more

My first question was about the parking situation. We just parked In The garage across the street. But I hear they will validate your parking if you bring the ticket in.The front of the building is still under construction. So Look for the white banner among the construction to find the place. I came in the evening for a too good to go order.I got a bag of baked goods. It was a great value. The chocolate chip cookies and sticky bun are heavenly!! I have yet to try the other two pastries but I'm sure they are great. The cold brew was decent. The cashier could have been a little more friendly maybe they had a long day. I love that they are open till 7. They do sell alcohol as well. They have a much larger menu than I was expecting. Many of the entrees are named after other newspapers. To keep up with the theme. They can be a bit pricy for coffee but they have a pretty decent happy hour for food/ coffee/wine.That I will be coming back for! The space is nice and open with a lot of natural light and they have a small vintage clothing area near the restrooms. read more
I've been to The New Stand so many times I just love it there! The food, the drinks, the owners everything about this place is amazing! It's one of my favorite spots to get some work done and the matcha is so good. You have to try the Cosmo & Wanda matcha it's seriously delicious and so cute. The sandwiches can be a little on the pricier side, but with In-house bread and quality ingredients, it's totally worth it. You definitely need to check this place out you won't be disappointed! read more

First time here and I left so impressed! I tried a little bit of everything, and every bite blew me away. The agua fresca? Easily one of the BEST I've ever had--so fresh, not overly sweet, just perfection. The avocado toast was done right, and their breakfast sandwich had such a unique twist to it. But the standout for me was the Times sandwich--light, refreshing, and exactly what I needed on a hot Texas day. The vibe is cozy, welcoming, and stylish. Bonus points for the vintage shop inside--such a cool touch that made me want to hang out even longer. The Newsstand is giving café, community space, and curated charm all in one. I'll definitely be back read more
The newstand just catered at an event that I was at, and all the barista's were super nice, especially Josh and the manger. The had a space set up on the side. They had a variety of food options, bakery, options, and drinks. I tried two of the Matchas that they had one hot and one cold and both were very delicious and flavorful. One had a blackberry purée base and the other one was a strawberry rose with a vanilla cold foam. I also got a lox bagel, which was really yummy and the addition of sprouts with everything else was a really great touch, the Matcha cookie is so good, the cream has a very flavorful Matcha profile, and the look of the cookie is giving Sugar cookie, but make it Michelin, and the blueberry muffin is just huge and all the fruit is bursting with flavor. Overall, the vibe of the barista's, the food, the bakeries, all really added to the ambience of the space! read more

After yet another episode of Elder Eats, we saw this establishment mentioned on the show and they featured an egg salad sandwich that made my mouth water! My mom used to make us egg salad sandwiches but she's passed 2003 and I haven't had one since. Mainly because places put so many different things in their egg salad and I'm kinda finicky on how I like mine. After seeing their version, I HAD to try it ASAP. We decided to make the trek downtown (actually on the edge of downtown) off Broadway that same day. There is a lot of construction in the area and not a lot of parking so beware, but if you are lucky to find a spot, run don't walk to the Newstand and definitely order their Egg Salad sandwich and have it with a side of their ENORMOUS cinnamon roll! The establishment is extremely small and seating is very limited, but it's also a great option to place an order and go have a picnic elsewhere. The food is amazing, the sandwiches are huge and overly stuffed and the EGG SALAD SANDWICH brought me back to my mom which was the icing on the top! Sadly their egg salad was better in a diff way than moms, but both equally craveworthy! The cinnamon roll was also enormous and had the perfect ratio of filling to icing but is definitely a shareable item for 4! Enjoy read more
This is an very expensive latte. A 12oz latte with oat milk and an extra shot is $10!!!. And I it take me to the moon and back. It is not worth the money. For people who thinks a $10 oat latte was an extra shot not expensive, feel free to pay it, but I would not go back. read more

Are dogs allowed and is there a size limit?
The restaurant space is very limited. I would be cautious of this. I'd probably give the restaurant a call just to verify what they allow as well.
