I really wanted to like this place, but the food wasn't the best. The bread they served at the beginning was good. The onion soup lacked flavor. The scallops with crab risotto were burnt. I did enjoy the risotto! I also had the duck confit. It wasn't good. but it wasn't bad. The first bite had me fooled. It was salty and a little dry. The fries served with it were delicious! The service was kind of slow, but the waiters were nice. The ambiance was nice, but more casual than I expected. I can't say I will return, but it wasn't a HORRIBLE experience.

Bistro09 has amazing French cuisine, in my opinion it's my favorite French food in San Antonio. I also love their oysters and their happy hour. This visit was for a happy hour stop at the bar. Their drinks are wonderful and their happy hour appetizers are delicious as well. Their dining area is beautifully decorated with lovely art and an elegant seating area and the bar area has a French cafe feel with bright decor giving it a light and airy feel. The service is top notch with wonderful servers and bartenders every time we visit.

Love this cute little bistro! The atmosphere is delightful and the service, food and wine unparalleled Friday lunch is the best ever! They have this seasonal melon salad right now that I could eat everyday! The steak frites is amazing and the ahi tuna perfection!

It's Restaurant Week in San Antonio which makes it a great time to try a new dining option on your list. B9 had a tasty-looking menu so we decided to give it a try. Located in Alamo Heights it is a trendy yet posh-decorated spot with indoor and outdoor seating. As soon as I walked up, the host opened the door for me. I was greeted by the waiter as soon as I sat down. The service was attentive and courteous throughout the whole evening. My friend and I ordered different items from the Restaurant Week menu so we could get a better range of their offerings. Here is what we had: house-made ciabatta, the Frisee Au Lardons (bacon salad with a poached egg), French onion soup, cod with shrimp, tarragon chicken with veggies, profiteroles, and Creme Brulee cheesecake. Every dish was executed beautifully. The bread and butter service was delicious. The French onion soup was savory and satisfying. The salad had a light dressing that worked well with the greens. The fish was delicate but packed a lot of flavor. The chicken was fall of the bone tender. The only thing I didn't care for with the chicken dish was that the sauce made the chicken skin soggy, so I removed it. The desserts topped the evening but I was so full I couldn't finish my Creme Brulee. I was very glad that I tried this restaurant and enjoyed the visit.

In town to celebrate a birthday and was introduced to this gem by my Aunt. We had such a wonderful time. Our waiter Ray was probably the most attentive and accommodating waiter that I've ever experienced. Come to find out, he has been serving my Aunt for at least the past 20 years (that speaks to the confidence level she has in him). The ambiance was very nice and cozy. I ordered the braised short rib while my wife had the duck confete with asparagus soup. Our meals also came with some of the best bread I've had. Everything was delicious. As an added treat, my aunt introduced us to the owner Damian, whom she has also known for many years. When in San Antonio, this is definitely a spot to try.

I was scouting out a restaurant for a business event, so my husband and I dropped in for a bite. The wine and food were good and the service was on point. We did have our event at the restaurant a few weeks later. Everyone enjoyed the food and had a wonderful time. The menu was prefixe by our choice the kitchen was very flexible and helpful in working with our budget. The staff took really good care of us. We would definitely come again!

Our final stop during Restaurant Week...this place was magnificent! The portions were huge considering RW menu, service outstanding, and the food...just wow! The flavors, the textures, the presentation...simply amazing! We loved the quaint feel of an authentic French bistro, with beautiful art and modern accents! We'll definitely be back!

GREAT service, GREAT food and GREAT company. Their outdoor patio is nice for small intimate parties. Their menu has a large selection. Their drinks are awesome. The truffle fries and escargot are a must try.

Met a group for Saturday happy hour at Bistr09 and really enjoyed this relatively new Alamo Heights addition. A few of us had been here before for happy hour, before the infamous pandemic, and I was glad to see it up and running. Their creatively named "Deep Space Happy Hour" does not have a large menu and the app selection is even smaller. Even thought that usually is an issue for me, this time I was ok with the small selection because the portions were not so small, and everything is $5! I order the Flying Cigar, at a friend's recommendation, which is a lamb filled roll, and a Margarita pizza slice. I enjoyed the cigar. It was quite good and I also enjoyed the pizza. I also wish I had tasted the truffle and Parmesan pizza slices since I love truffle. I did send my happy hour wine back, and ordered off their happy hour menu, instead. The HH wine selection had only three wine choices from their aptly named wine of the week selection. I ordered a rose, but it had a flat taste and didn't have the usual rose slight fizziness. However, a friend order their Shiraz blend, from the happy hour selection, and enjoyed it immensely. Overall, I enjoyed the place, atmosphere, service and my off happy hour menu wine. The food portions were a good size. The Lamb roll was large, and, I mean large, and the pizza slice was really two small slices of pizza. I will likely come back again and do recommend giving this place a try!

Excellent service. Merari (not sure of spelling) was great with suggestions and was so friendly. The food here is amazing. Bread was warm and fresh baked. Seafood was incredibly fresh. Lamb cigar was a unique appetizer that was delicious with excellent seasoning and subtle kick. Must try! Crab and avocado salad was absolutely decadent and my favorite! Restaurant was beautiful with lots of art work throughout, and I loved the e patio with lots of cushioned benches to hang out. This is a fantastic place to have dinner.

The food, atmosphere, and service were exceptional, which is exactly why we chose to come back. I work long hours, and we finally had the opportunity to enjoy a date night together. We were looking forward to spending quality time with each other over what we remembered to be an amazing meal. We were greeted by a lovely hostess who was warm, professional, and welcoming. She seated us promptly, and unfortunately, that's where our experience completely fell apart. We were seated in the middle of the dining room in a restaurant that wasn't particularly busy. We were clearly visible, yet no one ever came to greet us. At first, we gave everyone the benefit of the doubt. We assumed they might be getting organized or perhaps a shift change was happening. We patiently waited, confident that our server would be with us shortly. While we waited, another couple was seated after us. Within minutes, they had been greeted, had drinks on the table, and their server was attentive from the start. We continued waiting. I made eye contact with multiple servers, yet not a single one acknowledged us--not even with a simple "We'll be right with you." Three more tables were seated after us, and each was greeted and taken care of before anyone ever spoke to us. The table beside us, a group of four ladies, was seated and immediately welcomed by their server. We honestly thought, "Surely he's coming to us next." Instead, he walked away without so much as acknowledging we existed. After sitting there for an extended period without a single interaction from anyone on the service team, we quietly stood up and walked out. Even then, no one stopped us or asked if everything was okay. Before leaving, we asked to speak with the manager because our intention wasn't to complain--it was to make someone aware of what had happened so it could be addressed. Unfortunately, that interaction was just as disappointing. The manager offered to cover our meal, but by that point, it wasn't about free food. It was about being completely overlooked and made to feel invisible. The conversation felt more like an attempt to make the situation disappear than a genuine effort to understand what had gone wrong. I watched the manager warmly engage with other guests, smiling and making conversation, but with us there was no eye contact, no empathy, and no real acknowledgment of how embarrassing the situation had been. It left us feeling as though the message was simply, "Here's free food--let's move on." To this day, I have no idea why we were ignored. The restaurant wasn't overwhelmed. Maybe there was a breakdown in communication. Maybe another reason entirely. I don't want to speculate. What I do know is that no guest should ever be left sitting long enough to watch multiple tables arrive, be served, and settle into their meals without even receiving a greeting. As someone who serves as a Director in luxury hospitality, I understand that mistakes happen. Restaurants and hotels get busy, communication breaks down, and no operation is perfect. But what defines great hospitality isn't the absence of mistakes--it's how they're recognized and recovered. A sincere acknowledgment, a genuine apology, and making guests feel seen can completely change an experience. Sadly, that's not what happened here. We left feeling embarrassed, forgotten, and incredibly disappointed because we know just how exceptional Mon Chou Chou can be. I truly hope this experience is addressed, because no guest should ever have to make the walk out of a restaurant wondering why they were never even welcomed.

There's an empty lot next door for parking as well as some street parking, but both are pretty limited and hard to come by. If you can Uber, I recommend it. The outdoor tent setup is really pretty and feels like a romantic date night and the main dining experience, while the inside is much more basic, but air conditioned. We were seated indoors which was good since it had just rained and the weather was quite muggy. Our unfriendly waiter (so French) came over right away to take drink orders. Our group consisted of one beer drinker, one cocktail sipper, one soda guzzler and one water drinker. The drinks were very good. For appetizers we started with the grilled octopus and escargots, both of which were delicious and the stars of the meal. For entrees two of us ordered the steak frites, also ordered bolognese, and côte de porc. Nothing was bad at all, but nothing really stood out either. For dessert we tried the crème brûlée and chocolate ganache, which were fine to finish the meal. If you go, definitely get the grilled Spanish octopus, that was the standout dish for me. For a party of four, our bill came out to $360 plus the tip. I'm glad I finally tried it, but with the higher prices and kind of average food, I don't feel a strong urge to come back anytime soon. Maybe in good weather I would uber over for some drinks and great appetizers.

Five words. OBSCENELY OVERPRICED AND ABSOLUTE SLOP…read more AVOID THIS PLACE!!! My rating is a NEGATIVE 10, however that choice is not available. Sam L. is correct in his review. It bears repeating. OBSCENELY OVERPRICED AND ABSOLUTE SLOP. I went there for my birthday, and I need a redo of my birthday. I cannot comprehend how ANYONE could rate this as not poison. I was sick during the night from this food. It was just awful. The only good item was the fresh baguette that was served with the escargots. The escargots were flavourless and obscenely overpriced. I requested salt. It did little to redeem them. I had the absurdly overpriced duck - $45. It was flavourless, dry as a bone, miniscule in size, served with frisée (awful), and an overabundance of roasted potatoes. $45 for this is a crime. I would not serve this to a starving stray dog. The plate was clearly designed to extract maximum profit for a tiny strip of dry duck. The fat on the duck was equivalent to to the minimal amount of protein. My dinner companion and I ordered pomme frites as a side. We imagined that it would be a reasonably sized side plate. They brought a TUB. It was a serving bowl size. We commented about this and the staff say that they like to 'make sure that people are fed'. I certainly appreciate the sentiment, but oh my, not THIS place. I had the special desert. Nope. It was an abysmal failure. It was supposed to be a coconut rice pudding with mango sauce. It was served with a flavourless piece of millefeuille on top. Pointless. The rice pudding and mango sauce were pre-cooking school level. Again I revisit the pricing on this. Criminal. I was out with a friend who was kind and generous enough to take me out for my birthday, so I put on a brave face. This place should shut down immediately. It is a revolting excuse for food. Actual excellent french food can be found in NY for FAR less than these prices. I will cook a french meal (satisfying and delicious) for any person who disagrees. This place is a trashcan. PLEASE I beg of you, do NOT waste your money! Stay home and cook, or take me up on my offer.
