Heard about Petit Coquin and had to try it! We went for the Saturday night prix fixe menu and with 2 options for each serving we decided to just do one of each and share. Everything was phenomenal and surpassed all expectation. Service was great and the overall ambiance felt just right. Petit Coquin come highly recommended!

The menu is a pre set seasonal menu, so it's not always the same! My boyfriend made the reservation for us on the day before my birthday and the service was amazing. The over ambiance is a cool romantic evening, perfect for special occasions and events!

My waiter was incredibly kind and gracious throughout my entire visit. He keeps a close eye without being overpowered which was great. I was also greeted my several other team members who were very nice, I really felt like I was being appreciated. Let's get into the food! I started with the beet salad, which subtly told me that maybe I do like beets after all. It was very refreshing. My main course was the rainbow trout which was very flavorful and cooked to perfection. The green beans were incredibly fresh and the rice was fluffy. The crème brûlée is dangerous. I only intended to take a few bites but I looked down and it was gone! Overall the restaurant was an amazing vibe, with the addition of the cooler weather, I felt like I was back in France. Definitely recommend for restaurant week and just a nice dinner with friends or a spouse.

I absolutely loved the aesthetics -- there was plenty of parking, and when you walk inside, the décor feels classic, elegant, and welcoming. Our server, David, was extremely professional. His knowledge, attentiveness, and overall professionalism made this a really special birthday night for my boyfriend. We appreciated all the recommendations he made. We started with a Tempranillo red wine and a specialty cocktail. For appetizers, we chose the goat cheese salad and the French onion soup. Both were excellent -- the goat cheese salad was fresh and light, with an amazing crunch and flavor from the cheese. I would definitely order it again. The French onion soup was classic but honestly one of the best I've had, with the perfect balance of onion, salt, and cheese. For our mains, we ordered the beef Wellington and the lobster risotto, along with sides of blue cheese cauliflower and scalloped potatoes. The beef Wellington was surprisingly good -- I loved the crisp puff pastry combined with the mushrooms, beef, and sauce. The lobster risotto was chef's kiss -- absolutely delicious. I'm so glad they introduced the new menu because this dish was outstanding. The blue cheese cauliflower tasted good, though I wish the cream sauce had been a bit thicker so it would coat the cauliflower better. The scalloped potatoes, however, were phenomenal. We finished with a slice of strawberry cake that was incredibly moist and reminded me of strawberry ice cream with that nostalgic crumb coating -- really delicious. Overall, we were both extremely happy with our meals and the experience. We'll definitely be back to try more items and highly recommend it!

The wait staff are so friendly and welcoming. It's not a surprise that year after a year we see the same STAFF sticking around as opposed to many other places were turnover is so high. We love the menu additions in the wine list. The cocktails are crafted just perfect. We had the escargot and lentil soup for appetizers, shared the beef Wellington with Gruyère mashed potatoes and haricot vert. For the dessert, they had a scrumptious strawberry cake. After reading many positive reviews on Yelp, we decided to try La Frite Belgian Bistro. We initially attempted to make a reservation for three through Yelp, but it wouldn't allow us to book for our desired time. We were able to secure one reservation for two and another for one. Fortunately, after calling the restaurant just prior to opening, they kindly combined the reservations and accommodated the three of us without issue. When we arrived on a Saturday evening, we were pleased to find the main dining area small and quaint, creating an intimate and charming atmosphere. At first, we thought this was the only dining space, but they also have additional storefront dining areas on each side, providing ample seating. We arrived shortly after opening, and only a few tables were occupied. That quickly changed -- by the time we left, every table in the restaurant was filled. We were warmly greeted at the door and seated at a front window table, which offered a great view outside. The gentleman who seated us also served as our waiter. I don't recall his name, but he was exceptionally professional and attentive, providing outstanding service throughout the evening. We ordered a carafe of white wine, which our server recommended as a great value -- and it truly was. For starters (using non-French names for simplicity), we ordered a large portion of mussels in a basil, garlic, butter, and white wine broth. The mussels (moules) are offered in seven different sauces, and after tasting ours, I wish we could have tried every one of them. They were plump and fresh, served over an abundant, flavorful broth that paired perfectly with the fresh bread -- ideal for soaking up every last drop. Our second shared appetizer was escargot prepared Burgundy-style in a rich herb butter sauce. The escargot were tender, earthy, and generously coated in a garlic-forward herb butter that was absolutely delicious. Again, the fresh bread ensured none of that wonderful sauce went to waste. For entrées, we began with the Steak Au Poivre. We selected the tenderloin, which arrived perfectly cooked to medium rare. It was tender, well-seasoned, and accompanied by crisp fries and a fresh selection of cooked vegetables. Our second entrée was a crab and mushroom crepe. The delicate crepe was filled with fresh crab and mushrooms in a light white cream sauce that also draped over the top. The flavors were fresh, balanced, and beautifully seasoned. Although we were extremely full, it was impossible to pass on dessert. We ordered both the lemon tart and the chocolate tart. The lemon tart featured a crisp, flavorful crust with a firm, well-balanced lemon filling that delivered just the right amount of brightness. The chocolate tart shared the same crisp crust but was filled with a rich, decadent chocolate center with a smooth consistency that allowed the flavor to linger pleasantly on the palate. We will definitely return on our next visit. This truly is a wonderful gem in San Antonio

Service was excellent from start to finish. We were never rushed. We started with the escargot which were served with some basic bread. Delicious. Then each of us had the large mussels with frites. The frites were very tasty and served with two dipping sauces. They were not as crispy as I would've liked but they were very good. For dessert we shared the lemon tart which was the perfect ending for a delightful meal. So many delicious sounding things on the menu. Will be back next time in town.

I want to give the place 5 stars, but the service is lacking here - my table seems to be neglected no matter where I sit and orders have been overlooked where we have to remind the server of them. Our twelve guests ranged in age from 14-79 years, and everyone had a wonderful experience. We began with waters for the table, soft drinks, and cocktails/mocktails (Man Walks into a Bar, Amba No. 5, Don Alberto, Green Shug Collins). Due to our large party, we had booked a chef's tasting experience, which was spectacular. The appetizers were plentiful, flavorful, and unique. Our server, Anissa, did a wonderful job of explaining each dish-- its components, highlights, even suggesting that after finishing the beef dumplings, we stir the oil and yogurt together for an amazing pita dipping sauce. Our meal included four meats-- actually five, considering an off menu chef's creation for our pescatarian guest. It was such an immersive experience, I never took out my phone to capture photos of the food (or our group, sadly). Three desserts topped off the evening. When (not if) we return, we'll certainly request Anissa again. She made the evening a complete delight, even bringing out celebratory candles for our honored guests.
