We ate here over the weekend to celebrate my dad's graduation from Harvard. We were all in town from Wisconsin, and while we have been to other Chart House locations, this was our first visit to the Boston location. The building is absolutely gorgeous - formerly the John Hancock Counting House, I loved that it was steeped in rich New England history. The staff was very kind, but my dad walks very poorly, and we were disappointed that they weren't able to accommodate our request to be on the first floor instead of the third. Considering there is no elevator, and there are a lot of stairs, it made it hard on my dad. That alone is the reason I am giving this restaurant 3 stars. The food was delicious, and I was thrilled that there were so many seafood options, given that we were right on the wharf. The New England Clam Chowder was by far the best I have ever tasted. Creamy with succulent clams and potatoes, I wished I had ordered a bowl instead of a cup! For my entree, I chose the shrimp linguine, and it was very good. I enjoyed the pesto in the dish, as well as the crispy prosciutto. For dessert, I opted for the lava cake - a staple in our family, we always get it when we go to a Chart House location.

I would've never thought I'd get one of the best prime ribs at this spot, but I did! I'll admit, I haven't tried that many different prime ribs, but Chart House nailed it tonight. Perfectly cooked, perfectly seasoned, and unbelievably delicious! The 3 potato garlic mash it's served with was awesome too. I also got the lobster bisque to start and that was also the best I've had thus far. The ambiance is very fitting and gives a cozy vibe. Our server was also amazing and went above and beyond for us. Truly a great dining experience. Highly recommend!!

It's a chain restaurant under the Landry's brand, buchbeach Chart House restaurant has a personality all its own. We enjoy Chart House because we can always count on a good meal in an upper scale restaurant at a reasonable price. The building this Chart House is in use to be John Hancocks counting house.

We just had drinks so I can't comment on food, the rusty bar was lovely. However for a place that is old school and known for years, I wish my Manhattan had the cherry it deserved instead of the red cherries used for Sheryl temples. Service overall was good.

Stinky was here for Christmas dinner. The restaurant is nice and it was quite crowded. Did not see any regular menu and all they had was the Prick's Fix one for 81 bucks. Service a bit slow. Mostly just beef and seafood. Stinky had the Chowdah, Strip Steak and Chocolate Lava Cake. Chowdah ok but had a different taste to it. Don't know known what they added to it. The steak was a bit tough and cooked more well done than medium as requested. Was kind of disappointed. Could only eat about half. The highlight was the Chocolate Lava Cake. This made Stinky flash his famous grin. So wicked tasty and yummy! Would like to come back and try this restaurant again with the regular menu and on a regular day.

Beautiful place!! The old brick building the restaurant is in is gorgeous and combined with the location right on the harbor, this place screams quintessential Boston. I came here for dinner with my husband, my parents and my in-laws. We started with calamari, shrimp cocktail, and meatballs. Shrimp cocktail was great and came served "smoking" on dry ice. But the kim chee calamari was my favorite! I've never had calamari like this and the sauce that came on it should come on all calamari everywhere! For my entree, I ordered the lobster stuffed scrod and it was fantastic! It was a perfect portion size, stuffed with plenty of lobster and just melted in your mouth. I ate the whole thing! For dessert, my husband and I shared the chocolate ripple mud pie and OMG. It was one slice but I wanted to eat the whole pie! Definitely check this place out for a classic "Boston" dinner :)

Ambiance was fine. Food was mid. Lobster roll was mediocre. Not really any flavor to the lobster, roll or mayo base it was in. Lemon wedge saved it. Fries were stale. Server came by once to take our drink order and once for our food order and acted like it was an inconvenience and never came back. We were the only people in the bar area except one guy watching golf and one person at the bar. Glasses sat empty the whole time without being checked on. VERY disappointing for the price tag. Especially in a city with such AMAZING food.

We love Chart House in New jersey and this one is in a historic building so we decided to stop in. Had a reservation for 5:15, were seated right away. The interior is much different than NJ but I loved it, it has a lot of charm and fits well to the Boston vibe. We waited for a bit until someone came over for the first time but once a server came over, he was very apologetic and explained that he didn't know we were seated as there is multiple floors, we completely understood. After that, the service was quick, food came out very quickly. We ordered two apps, the ricotta meatballs and peppered ahi tuna. Both were very yummy. For dinner, we split a filet minion with the chimichurri butter and it was tasty. The service was great especially.

Went to the Chart House for dinner recently and I would recommend this spot if you're looking for a fancy upscale restaurant next to the waterfront! What I look forward to the most at upscale restaurants is the great service they provide to our table. For this matter, we went as a big party and the servers did a great job handling our table and being understanding about minor inconveniences (i.e. order mix ups, water refills, etc). I am also a fan of their decor and dim lighting they set during dinner time. Valet parking is also present at the front door. Great for company dinners! As for the food, I typically don't order this but I really really enjoyed the coconut crunchy shrimp entree, especially since it comes with this coconut cream sauce that complements it so well. The shrimp were coated lightly but were very crunchy at the same time. I also enjoyed the mango sticky rice that it came with. I'd definitely get this dish again the next time I'm here. I ordered the lobster bisque, however I was not a fan of this soup since it had a very strong sherry flavor and little, if any, lobster bits in the bisque. The clam chowder tasted just okay. The sauce on the kimchee calamari also tasted more like a sriracha mayo rather than a kimchi sauce. Their burger was also surprisingly pretty tender and juicy! Their truffle fries are a big portion and have a good balance of truffle and cheese as well! We always order the hot chocolate lava cake, and the mini was a great size for those who can't have a full cake to themselves. Do note that the smaller version is less "lava cake"-y due to its size compared to the full size version. What we ordered: - Lobster Bisque - Kimchee Calamari - Coconut Crunchy Shrimp Entree - Truffle Fries - Hot Chocolate Lava Cake

The Chart House in Boston is an Institution that is a MUST and always a Fantastic place for a Special Occasion Dining Experience! We're celebrating Mother's Day Today; but we've been here for Birthdays and Anniversaries; and everything has always been excellent!!! Please ask for Zoe!!! She will make your Dining Experience one that you will come back to enjoy, year after year!!! (This is actually our second Mother's Day dinner being Blessed to have Zoe as our server!)

the cockroach that came out of my dinner

Absolutely Disgusting and Unacceptable I cannot believe what just happened at what's supposed to be a high-end steakhouse. I was halfway through my steak and lobster tail ( an expensive meal) when a cockroach crawled right out from under my plate. Yes, you read that correctly: a cockroach. The waiter actually killed it right on the table, next to my food. When I told the manager, their response was unbelievably casual. They said, "We sprayed for them today, so that usually happens when we attack their homes." Seriously?! That's their explanation for a roach showing up on a dinner plate at a supposedly fine dining restaurant? As if that weren't insulting enough, they only took off the sides and appetizer from the bill. Not the main dish that the bug literally came out from. The lack of professionalism, cleanliness, and basic customer care is astounding. If you value hygiene, class, or even basic decency, stay far away from this place. I wouldn't go back if they paid me. Absolutely revolting

Chart House was decent. It definitely would have been better with better service. My group went on a Sunday in June in the early afternoon. Chart House is situated on the wharf in Boston very very close to the aquarium. We were able to walk there. Best place to park would be the parking garage near the aquarium. My party of three was sat right away. Despite being sat basically immediately, our server did not greet us for over 15 minutes. She gave us water and then did not come back for a while to see if we were ready to order. I only ordered one cocktail the entire time due to the slow service. I would have gotten more had the service been better. The menu had a good amount of options and variety to order. They did have a great selection of seafood. The prices were decent for the location. I got a margarita which I expected to be large based on price but was "normal" sized. It had a lot of ice so felt small. The food was very good. We got the chopped salad and chicken sandwich which were both very good. I was tempted to get this fish tacos but they came with ranch on them which felt very odd to me. I would rather have a crema or aioli on them instead. The chopped salad was good and the presentation was awesome. It had to be mixed well to eat well. The sandwich was great although the portion of fries seemed small and they were nothing to write home about. Overall, it was decent but I may or may not return, especially based on the poor service.

After a quick Yelp search, you find yourself looking at Neptune Oyster reviews. We ended up going from Fenway Park to Neptune Oyster by taking the train. When we arrived, we saw there was a substantial line. We ended up waiting about 1 hour and 20 minutes. They make you stand in line outside the restaurant and have signs that say, "Please don't block the other business entrances" and "Please stand behind this sign." Meanwhile, I'm thinking this is 2026 and Yelp must have some sort of online or phone number check-in system where they could text you once your table is ready. But I think, selfishly enough, the restaurant does this so other people walking by notice the line, and it acts as good advertisement for them. Anyhow, we decided to try the lobster roll with fries, six oysters, the bluefin tuna crudo, and their "clam chowder." Yes, I put "clam chowder" in quotes because it was more of a soup than a traditional chowder. I could have gotten past the texture, but it had no flavor and, unfortunately, we had to send it back, which I don't think I've ever done at a restaurant before. The oysters and tuna were pretty good, and I enjoyed them. The lobster roll was also decent, but nothing that I would rave about. Maybe that's my fault because, again, they are not a lobster roll restaurant. It says it right in their name that they're an oyster restaurant, so partially my fault. I was guided by Yelp when I searched for lobster rolls and thought maybe they were known for them due to all the pictures posted on their Yelp page. Overall, I think it's a little overrated and not worth the wait and the $130 bill.

At one point, people were practically trying to drink the sauce straight from the plate. That is when you know it is hitting on another level. Turns out, it's about what you can expect from this type of chain: good service, very pleasant ambiance...and thoroughly mediocre, overpriced food. Wouldn't be surprised if a lot of it came directly from Sysco. Previously I had tried the "Legal Seafoods Clam Chowder" sold at Costco, and found it to be very so-so compared to the "Captain Parker's" version sold at Market Basket. I was hoping the in-restaurant version would be much better. Wrong. Probably the most appalling thing about the food here were the fries, which come with most of the dishes unless you specifically ask for a substitute. I was glad that I did, because when I tasted my friend's fries, they were just about the most dry, bland, doughy-like frozen fries you could imagine. Only thing you can do with fries like that is to oversalt the bejesus out of them, and drown them in ketchup. Best thing we (party of 4) had was the Steak Salad---but when the menu says "petit sirloin" you dang better believe they MEAN "petit," lol ... it was about 3-4 mouthfuls tops! Really more of an appetizer worth $15 at most, not the $28 normal entree pricing. Fish and chips were particularly dismal---the fish was tasteless, most likely frozen just like the horrible fries. I've had better fish and chips from humble diner type places like Mike's Roast Beef in Everett, for Chrissakes. Hell, even Friendly's Fish and Chips doesn't seem that bad in comparison, lol. Swordfish and trout were somewhat less bad, but also suffered from the avalanche of cardboard fries. Anyways, now I know: I wasn't missing anything all these years.
