Abe & Louie's was bustling during the weekend and we were lucky to snag a reservation a week prior. The restaurant is vast and the interior is refined with dazzling chandeliers. Service was impeccable and we were able to get our food in a timely matter. Beef tartare (5/5)- the beef was fresh and the sauce evenly mended everything together. It was the perfect balance on meaty, creamy and slightly acidic. Creamed spinach (4/5)- spinach was cooked perfectly and was seasoned well. Bone in ribeye (4/5)- I ordered it medium well and it was exactly as I ordered it. The ribeye itself was beefy and delicious but definitely not the best I've had. Definitely the best I've had in Boston though. Overall great spot for date night or to celebrate any occasion.

This was one of me and my boyfriend's little yearly splurges at a steakhouse. Since it was a splurge, we ordered quite a bit and still ended up with plenty of leftovers. My boyfriend ordered the potato leek soup and the salmon. He thought the salmon was just average and said he'd probably try something else if we went back. He enjoyed a zero proof lavender drink. I ordered the French onion soup and the pan-roasted chicken, and both were impressive. I'm not usually someone who finishes an entire bowl of soup, but once it cooled down, I ate every last bite. The cheese and flavor were amazing. The chicken came with a really tasty sauce and the best crispy potatoes. I had to keep my boyfriend from stealing them. I wasn't sure what to drink and didn't see sangria on the menu but the waiter said they could make one and it was delicious. Even though our stomachs were full, we ordered the cheesecake to go, and it was hands down the freshest, creamiest cheesecake I've ever had, topped with fresh berries. The waiter was nice, but not very personable, which was a little disappointing since it wasn't very busy. I would expect a bit more personality from a higher-end restaurant like this.

Place is still unreal. Got the tomahawk for two and it was cooked perfectly. Service was efficient, and martini is well made.

Awesome old school look and vibe! Service spot on! Whole staff polite and friendly! Steaks and dinner were excellent. A must if you're in the city

Abe & Louie's is very nice inside. My friend took me there for my birthday. The specials were well over $125 each. They brought a nice bread basket with butter, which was very good. I ordered the crispy chicken with crispy potatoes, and green beans. The chicken leg was overcooked & dry. The crispy potatoes were overcooked, and I felt that the green beans were undercooked. My friend had the filet mignon omelette and it looked nice and was full of meat. They gave me a delicious chocolate dessert with fruit, whipped cream, and a dish of vanilla ice cream & sang happy birthday along with my friend and other people in the restaurant. Nice touch. The service was fine.

My wife and I took our daughter during Parents' weekend. We had an early reservation before the hockey game that evening. We were seated promptly in the main dining room. We had a large and spacious booth and table. One waitstaff member came over and brought us water, bread, and butter. Our actual server came over, introduced themselves, and we ordered drinks and appetizers to start. My gin martini was made exactly as I asked, 3:1 with a couple of dashes of orange bitters. My wife's old-fashioned was perfect. We started with Oysters Rockefeller and the tuna tartare. The oysters were fabulous. The tuna tartare was also very good, but we were not a fan of the roe on top. We split a Caesar salad before ordering entrees. My wife and daughter split the 12-ounce fillet. I, in true Yelp style, ordered the 3-pound baked stuffed lobster. This is actually one of my favorite meals, and one that I don't have very often. It was served in a "lazy man" style, where the meat from the claws was out and part of the scallop and crab stuffing. All you do is eat!! Our sides were creamed spinach and hash browns. We summarized that it was one of the best meals we have had. The filet was prepared to order, perfectly medium rare, and very flavorful. The sides were excellent. The hash browns that our server recommended were unbelievable. Needless to say, my lobster was FABULOUS and worth the cost of admission. My daughter wanted to try the chocolate cake and the chantilly cream for dessert. Most of it was taken to go...LOL. All in all, this checked all of the boxes - atmosphere, hospitality, GREAT service, cocktails, and food quality. We will come back for certain.

I come here every time I visit Boston. And every time they are always a meal to remember. The staff is amazing. Love all the servers and bartenders. Even our bussers have always been the most kind and always so attentive. I love a classic steakhouse and this restaurant is exactly that. Musts for me every time I come are the clam chowder, the hash browns and anything off the dessert menu

My friend and I visited here in March 2024 for lunch and the initial intention was to order items from the restaurant week menu, but for some reason we weren't able to do so. We ended up ordering from the regular lunch and brunch menus, and our experience at the restaurant was still very good. The free bread with butter was very tasty, especially the type with darker colors, which I believe was rye bread. We ordered two types of cocktails, one called Poppin' Bottles and one called My Cherry Amour, and both of them had fruity flavors. They were mixed very well and my friend and I enjoyed the start of our experience very much as a result of the bread and drinks. I ordered the shaved beef hash and I thought the portion size relative to the price was very worth it because I was given a good amount of beef, potatoes, poached eggs, and muffin bread, all of which were filling enough for me to become full after the dish. My friend ordered the lobster club and in general had positive feedback about it without a reaction indicating that it was spectacular. Both the sandwiches and the tuna tartare were on the pricier end. Finally we had the vanilla crème brûlée, and since I cook this dessert at home, I thought it was okay because the vanilla flavor was only minimally infused into the mixture. Regardless, it was a good experience and I felt honored that I had the chance to visit a fancy restaurant like this in Boston. I am aware that the establishment has won some type of steakhouse award in Massachusetts from 2015 to 2017, so I would fully expect visitors to get steak here.

When my oldest daughter attended college in Boston, we dined here every time we visited her. It was her favorite restaurant. She's since graduated and now her sister just started college in Boston. During college move-in weekend, we came here in keeping with our tradition. This time however, the food was disappointing. My daughter (the current college student) ordered the filet mignon, cooked medium. When I noticed she only ate half of her steak, she told me it tasted dry. One look at her steak and I can see it was overcooked. It looked ashen gray! My husband attempted to try it and he said it was very very dry. How disappointing for the start of her college journey....

See previous reviews from four years ago. We've been here multiple times since. But have decided to update the review after the recent visit. On the evening of August 15, 2025, my party and I dined at Abe & Louie's and received rushed and dismissive service from Janice H. We were the only non-white guests in the restaurant that evening and could not help but notice a stark difference in how we were treated compared to nearby tables. Requests were forgotten. Courses were rushed. And the tone was condescending. We are regulars--not first-time diners, not tourists, and definitely should not be treated like minorities not belonging here. -- Prior Reviews -- Tulsa H. | Elite '25 62 Seafood reviews over 4 years ago & 10 Check-Ins The food was amazing. We were on the second floor dining--Saturday's, 3/13/2021. We just sat there and asked for Patrick's recommendations. Followed most of his suggestions, and bam. They were all great. See pictures: will definitely return while still in town. And ask for Patrick for recommendations again! Manager's response Business Customer Service Thank you so much for your 5-star review ! A nod to tradition on a road that looks very different from old world Boylston. Dark wood, leather booths, excellent service -- I see what you're doing here Abe&Louie's keeping the steakhouse mythology alive. But has the food continued to endure or is it the whisper of the greatness of steakhouse past? Flavorful marinated steak was a delight in my "Abe Monsieur" -- but it stopped there. Engulfed in two large slices of mostly bland brioche and what seemed like a sauce reminiscent of thousand island dressing, I was scratching my head wondering why we needed to have the poor piece of meat suffer. Similarly, my Wagyu carpaccio was covered in unseasoned greens and white button mushrooms. The one bright spot was my wedge salad with its thick cut bacon, crisp lettuce and blue cheese -- they served up the classic well. Carthage, Ancient Rome, Qing... are we watching another dynasty fall? Tavistock -- time to cast off Commodus. There was a greatness that was Abe&Louie's -- make us believe it again.

10/10 best martini in town. We only came in for drinks as we had a function that evening but the service was spectacular with a classically elegant vibe. Seriously one of the best martinis I have ever had. Presentation was also too notch.

The reservation process was easy and a group of 5 was easily accommodated on the day and time requested. We arrived together after a short walk from the office. Bonus points to Moooo for not only having complimentary coat check, but also safe bag storage knowing much of their clientele on a weeknight is in transit from the office to home. Please people, don't forget to tip the coat check girls, it is only the right thing to do. Seated at our table the restaurant was initially fairly empty, but filled up nicely while we are already enjoying cocktails, wine, and appetizers. The long bar followed by tables of various sizes filled the restaurant, but it never was too loud and there was plenty of space between tables that you did not feel like you were sitting on top of each other or listening to their conversation more then the person across from your own table. Like most fine dining experiences, the complimentary rolls were served warm and lathered in melted butter. Sinful!. We ordered several appetizers for the table to share including tuna tartare which was very tasty and recommended. I also recommend the Japanese wagyu beef dumplings which were both delicate and savory. Lastly, the calamari was crispy and hot with the right amount of heat from the lemon and herb aioli. To accompany the entrees we ordered the broccolini, Yukon gold potatoes and the highly recommended tater tots. The only issue we had was with the tots which we collectively thought were both slightly over cooked and tasted "different". Said another way, I have never had a tater tot that didn't leave me wanting to eat them one after another until they were all gone, but this one was more than enough and more than 3/4 of the serving was left for the bus-person. Three of us ordered the 8oz Omaha filet which were cooked to perfection and delicious. Why is there not a 12 oz offering like most steak houses? Literally mine looked like it was 4 oz on the large, stark white plate when served. Thankfully being cooked to a perfect medium rare and accompanies by a bordelaise sauce which is also a rarity to find offered, was a treat. The prime New York sirloin and prime ribeye were equally cooked perfectly and delicious. We passed on dessert or after dinner drinks, but certainly enjoyed our visit. I have eaten at the Beacon Hill location previously, but this was my first experience in the seaport, but it won't be my last.

The menu refers to these as "Greek cheese bread" but somehow that doesn't do it justice - these were immensely pillowy and cheesy, with an amazing crust, with homemade honey butter on the side. I could have had just these for dinner and been satisfied. They really nailed the bread. My other favorites: 1. Hipiti: spicy whipped feta with crispy potatoes on the side. I don't do well with spice but I absolutely loved this. 2. Marouli: winter lettuce with the most amazing vinaigrette dressing. My only knock to this is, presentation-wise, they serve it with half of the plate empty and the other half with salad. I don't understand why restaurants do this because - one, it only highlights the smaller portion and two, we're just going to mix the salad all around in the bowl anyway. 3. Boudeto: daily catch in a beautiful tomato broth. For a seafood dish at a restaurant in Back Bay, this was priced at a fairly reasonable $28. The only dish that fell a little flat for me was the tzatziki - needed a bit more seasoning. As it was, I was eating mostly just plain yogurt. The table-side preparation was cool, though. The space is its own visual dinner, there's simply a lot to look at (including a drawing of Poseidon riding a surf board). We got the big table in the back, which was a beautiful glass structure with a whole terrarium underneath. We couldn't stop marveling at it throughout the meal. Our waiter was wonderful - very helpful recommendations, came by to check on us often even though we were pretty far in the back, super patient with our questions. Hard to get reservations but worth it! Don't bother driving / trying to find parking unless you're willing to eat a hefty garage fee, it's Back Bay.

Salty Pig Pizza: A pizza with the same name as the restaurant! Who was the genius who came up with the idea of salted pig and beer caramel? It's brilliant! The salted pork appears to include Prosciutto di Parma from Langirano, Prosciutto Cotto, and Salcissia. Baking rendered the prosciutto's fat, which blends with the caramel to create a beautiful golden syrup that flows across the pizza's surface. The prosciutto was savory, oily, and tender; the minced salcissia retains its coarse texture and rich meaty aroma; the caramel was sweet and mellow with a honey-like sweetness, forming the top, middle, and base notes respectively. The arugula was slightly warmed, losing its astringent and raw taste while maintaining its crisp texture, helped to cut through the richness together with the Parmesan cheese powder. The crust was crispy, while the inside the dough was soft and chewy. The cooking time and seasoning were all just right, and the restaurant's proud wooden oven added a charming smoky flavor. Affogato: I had high expectations, but it was just okay. The espresso was too sour, and the vanilla ice cream couldn't balance it out. Their menu actually has like 10+ kinds of oysters, highly selective and premium. I really wish we had more time (and stomach space) to try more. But we already had like 3 dinners planned that night lol so this was more like a "stop by and eat as much oysters as possible" situation. Honestly I'm pretty sure the other food here is just as good, based on what I saw on other tables. Definitely coming back next time I'm in Boston.

First time here. We got the lobster roll. And while, sure, the menu said the pricing was 'MP'…read more(meaning Market Price, or...based upon current market conditions)...and while, sure, we didn't ASK what the price would be, on that day, I still think it would have been nice if the waitstaff voluntarily offered up that detail. (I'm certain the staff are aware that many of their diners express shock, once the price is disclosed...) Many folks simply make an assumption or a guesstimate, as to the price, when they see 'MP' on a menu, and this is usually based upon their prior experiences, ordering such a menu item. So, for example, I was thinking the lobster roll might be in the $40-45 range. So imagine my utter shock, when we received the bill, to see a charge for $69?? I have never in my life had such an expensive lobster roll. Yes, it was delicious, and the housemade potato chips were also great. The slaw was also good (though it was a very tiny amount...I would have liked more). But boy, did that price shock me. I would normally never have voluntarily ordered a $69 lobster roll. It simply never would have occurred to me, that a place would ever charge that much....

The interior is pretty stunning, with large paintings all over the walls. It felt like a European art museum turned restaurant which was a cool surprise. There are also some neat statues around, with a lot of the decor reminding me of Revolutionary times. The atmosphere is comfortable and classy, and I almost felt like smoking a cigar or something while I was in the booth haha Our server didn't rush us and we had plenty of time to choose from the wine selection. The basket of bread was terrific, all kinds in there which I appreciate. I had a piece that tasted like it had cheesy onion in there, which I haven't had before. I got a cabernet to start. My appetizer was a lovely, refreshing salad, mixed greens with kale, feta cheese, dried cherries, toasted almonds, orzo and walnut mustard vinaigrette. There were wonderful textures to enjoy and it's probably enough for two people. I also had the wonderful German Riesling white wine they had. I had to go all out for the entree, choosing the seared hand-carved tenderloin (two 4 oz. pieces) with two butter poached lobster tails! I haven't had lobster surf 'n turf in many years so it was fun to have again. The dinner was wonderful, with hearty medium rare steaks very juicy and bursting with flavor. The lobster tails were sublime, and well garnished. We also got garlic spinach and mashed potatoes to share which were perfect sides. Because someone sent an appetizer back, we got a really nice dessert of a chocolate cake and some kind of soft tan colored cake with a lovely crust underneath. The meal was phenomenal and I think everyone should experience at least once, especially if you're hankering for a great steak!

When we got there, parking was available right in front (street parking), and we quickly rushed inside to avoid getting soaked. The hostess greeted us and seated us within just a few minutes. However, the seating area felt cramped. My chair kept bumping into the one behind me, and I had to move often for the servers to get by. The table behind us was a large group, and every time someone arrived, they cheered loudly--cute at first but a bit obnoxious after a while. We were so close to the table next to us that their belongings ended up on our table when we stepped away. We chose the all-you-can-eat option, so we went to the buffet to grab sides. The line was a bit chaotic, with no clear flow, and it felt a bit cramped as we bumped into each other. That said, the variety of sides was amazing--different types of rice, chicken, pork, BBQ ribs, oxtail, yuca, cheese, plantains, salmon, and other fish. The salad selection was also a refreshing touch. Once back at our table, we turned on the green light, and the servers began bringing around the meats on skewers. We didn't leave hungry! Everything was cooked perfectly and delicious. We each also had one drink, which was decent, but not the best I've had. In the end, the meal cost us around $65 per person. Great place for an authentic brazilian meal.
