I was visiting Boston with my partner and his parents and I was very excited to celebrate my birthday at Abe & Louie's. Since it was Memorial weekend, a lot of our reservations had to be made in advance. I even went as far as not celebrating on my actual birthday so that I could celebrate here. Our server Chris was amazing from start to finish. He was funny, polite and so nice. He told me Happy Birthday a few times throughout our meal which I found so sweet. He really made our dinner memorable. I would come back for dinner just for him! The cocktails and food were amazing as well. I lowered my rating because of a different server. He jumped in to "help" Chris by taking our dinner order. As soon as we finished telling him our order he rudely blurted "That's it?" He looked as if we had just insulted his mother. We awkwardly asked if it was too little. He responded to us like we were children. We explained to him that we had a large breakfast and lunch, trying all the good food in Boston and that we may order more if necessary. We just didn't want to over order and have leftovers that we would have to throw away since we were leaving the next morning. He still stood there waiting and said we should at least order another appetizer or side. At this point, my mood shifted and I stopped myself from further explaining that my partner's tiny mom is a diabetic/light eater and his dad's appetite has decreased into his senior years. Why do I have to explain that to him? He eventually said that we dont have to. Wtf? Why even waste our time and ruin our mood. What if one day he has a family come in for dinner that may have been saving up to celebrate such an occasion? His attitude totally shifted the entire course of dinner. Mind you my boyfriend even persuaded his parents to order a cocktail and wine, instead of their usual hot water and lemon because we are aware that we are at a nice restaurant. We ordered a cocktail/wine each, oyster rockefeller, bone in ribeye (22oz), rack of lamb, mashed potatoes, creamed spinach and green beans. That's almost a $400 dinner with tip! It was the perfect amount of food. There was even a bit leftover...

Okay I've been hearing that this is one of if not the best steak house in Boston. So when I went in a did have high expectations. The service is good, friendly, but nothing more. The drinks were basic and they used crushed ice which is a huge turnoff. Of course I ordered the steak and my only comment is that they do an amazing job at cooking the steak, seasoning wise it's lacking. Ambiance is that of what you'd expect of an older classic steak house. Would I go back? Possibly, but there are many other steak houses I need to try first.

My second Dine Out Boston 2026 Winter visit: Abe & Louie's, named "Best Neighborhood Restaurant, Back Bay" in "Best of Boston 2025". Founded in 1965. Table Bread: I especially loved the cranberry and walnut bread, which was on the plate. The delicate sweetness of the dried cranberries was deeply infused into the bread, while the walnuts provided a nutty aroma and crunchy texture. The butter was not too salty, offering a smooth texture and rich milky flavor, perfectly complementing the bread's sweetness. The rustic bread was equally excellent, with a firm crust and a soft interior; its rustic texture was quite comforting. Mushroom Soup: Thick and creamy, smooth and delicate in texture. The umami and earthy aroma of the mushrooms and the creaminess of the butter were mellow, soothing, gentle and rich. The saltiness was just right, with a subtle hint of sherry in the aftertaste, understated yet delightful. The black pepper ground on the table removed any fishy smell, added aroma, and cut through the richness. The brioche, after being toasted and soaked, became crispy on the outside and soft on the inside, adding an interesting texture. The chives were barely noticeable, which suited my personal taste. However, the portion was a bit too much, and it became somewhat monotonous towards the end. It would have been better if it was halved and supplemented with another appetizer lol. Flatiron Steak: A near-perfect steak, with a perfectly pink cross-section indicating medium. The meat was tender and juicy. The Chimichurri sauce, originating from Argentina, is made with parsley, cilantro, garlic, pepper flake, olive oil, and lemon juice, according to the waiter. The initial taste was surprisingly comforting, reminiscent of a combination of Cantonese ginger-spring onion sauce, and Szechuan chili oil. The lemon's acidity and freshness then emerged, somewhat alleviating the richness. However, it still felt a bit greasy towards the end, considering the sauce's base is a lethal amount of olive oil. The service was attentive, and the pace was comfortable, allowing me to fully enjoy the cuisine.

This was one of me and my boyfriend's little yearly splurges at a steakhouse. Since it was a splurge, we ordered quite a bit and still ended up with plenty of leftovers. My boyfriend ordered the potato leek soup and the salmon. He thought the salmon was just average and said he'd probably try something else if we went back. He enjoyed a zero proof lavender drink. I ordered the French onion soup and the pan-roasted chicken, and both were impressive. I'm not usually someone who finishes an entire bowl of soup, but once it cooled down, I ate every last bite. The cheese and flavor were amazing. The chicken came with a really tasty sauce and the best crispy potatoes. I had to keep my boyfriend from stealing them. I wasn't sure what to drink and didn't see sangria on the menu but the waiter said they could make one and it was delicious. Even though our stomachs were full, we ordered the cheesecake to go, and it was hands down the freshest, creamiest cheesecake I've ever had, topped with fresh berries. The waiter was nice, but not very personable, which was a little disappointing since it wasn't very busy. I would expect a bit more personality from a higher-end restaurant like this.

Abe & Louie's was bustling during the weekend and we were lucky to snag a reservation a week prior. The restaurant is vast and the interior is refined with dazzling chandeliers. Service was impeccable and we were able to get our food in a timely matter. Beef tartare (5/5)- the beef was fresh and the sauce evenly mended everything together. It was the perfect balance on meaty, creamy and slightly acidic. Creamed spinach (4/5)- spinach was cooked perfectly and was seasoned well. Bone in ribeye (4/5)- I ordered it medium well and it was exactly as I ordered it. The ribeye itself was beefy and delicious but definitely not the best I've had. Definitely the best I've had in Boston though. Overall great spot for date night or to celebrate any occasion.

Place is still unreal. Got the tomahawk for two and it was cooked perfectly. Service was efficient, and martini is well made.

My wife and I took our daughter during Parents' weekend. We had an early reservation before the hockey game that evening. We were seated promptly in the main dining room. We had a large and spacious booth and table. One waitstaff member came over and brought us water, bread, and butter. Our actual server came over, introduced themselves, and we ordered drinks and appetizers to start. My gin martini was made exactly as I asked, 3:1 with a couple of dashes of orange bitters. My wife's old-fashioned was perfect. We started with Oysters Rockefeller and the tuna tartare. The oysters were fabulous. The tuna tartare was also very good, but we were not a fan of the roe on top. We split a Caesar salad before ordering entrees. My wife and daughter split the 12-ounce fillet. I, in true Yelp style, ordered the 3-pound baked stuffed lobster. This is actually one of my favorite meals, and one that I don't have very often. It was served in a "lazy man" style, where the meat from the claws was out and part of the scallop and crab stuffing. All you do is eat!! Our sides were creamed spinach and hash browns. We summarized that it was one of the best meals we have had. The filet was prepared to order, perfectly medium rare, and very flavorful. The sides were excellent. The hash browns that our server recommended were unbelievable. Needless to say, my lobster was FABULOUS and worth the cost of admission. My daughter wanted to try the chocolate cake and the chantilly cream for dessert. Most of it was taken to go...LOL. All in all, this checked all of the boxes - atmosphere, hospitality, GREAT service, cocktails, and food quality. We will come back for certain.

I come here every time I visit Boston. And every time they are always a meal to remember. The staff is amazing. Love all the servers and bartenders. Even our bussers have always been the most kind and always so attentive. I love a classic steakhouse and this restaurant is exactly that. Musts for me every time I come are the clam chowder, the hash browns and anything off the dessert menu

My friend and I visited here in March 2024 for lunch and the initial intention was to order items from the restaurant week menu, but for some reason we weren't able to do so. We ended up ordering from the regular lunch and brunch menus, and our experience at the restaurant was still very good. The free bread with butter was very tasty, especially the type with darker colors, which I believe was rye bread. We ordered two types of cocktails, one called Poppin' Bottles and one called My Cherry Amour, and both of them had fruity flavors. They were mixed very well and my friend and I enjoyed the start of our experience very much as a result of the bread and drinks. I ordered the shaved beef hash and I thought the portion size relative to the price was very worth it because I was given a good amount of beef, potatoes, poached eggs, and muffin bread, all of which were filling enough for me to become full after the dish. My friend ordered the lobster club and in general had positive feedback about it without a reaction indicating that it was spectacular. Both the sandwiches and the tuna tartare were on the pricier end. Finally we had the vanilla crème brûlée, and since I cook this dessert at home, I thought it was okay because the vanilla flavor was only minimally infused into the mixture. Regardless, it was a good experience and I felt honored that I had the chance to visit a fancy restaurant like this in Boston. I am aware that the establishment has won some type of steakhouse award in Massachusetts from 2015 to 2017, so I would fully expect visitors to get steak here.

When my oldest daughter attended college in Boston, we dined here every time we visited her. It was her favorite restaurant. She's since graduated and now her sister just started college in Boston. During college move-in weekend, we came here in keeping with our tradition. This time however, the food was disappointing. My daughter (the current college student) ordered the filet mignon, cooked medium. When I noticed she only ate half of her steak, she told me it tasted dry. One look at her steak and I can see it was overcooked. It looked ashen gray! My husband attempted to try it and he said it was very very dry. How disappointing for the start of her college journey....

See previous reviews from four years ago. We've been here multiple times since. But have decided to update the review after the recent visit. On the evening of August 15, 2025, my party and I dined at Abe & Louie's and received rushed and dismissive service from Janice H. We were the only non-white guests in the restaurant that evening and could not help but notice a stark difference in how we were treated compared to nearby tables. Requests were forgotten. Courses were rushed. And the tone was condescending. We are regulars--not first-time diners, not tourists, and definitely should not be treated like minorities not belonging here. -- Prior Reviews -- Tulsa H. | Elite '25 62 Seafood reviews over 4 years ago & 10 Check-Ins The food was amazing. We were on the second floor dining--Saturday's, 3/13/2021. We just sat there and asked for Patrick's recommendations. Followed most of his suggestions, and bam. They were all great. See pictures: will definitely return while still in town. And ask for Patrick for recommendations again! Manager's response Business Customer Service Thank you so much for your 5-star review ! 10/10 best martini in town. We only came in for drinks as we had a function that evening but the service was spectacular with a classically elegant vibe. Seriously one of the best martinis I have ever had. Presentation was also too notch.

I had a great dinner here! As a matchbox collector I was immediately so stoked to see that thy had a bowl of matches on their host stand! There was also so cute Christmas decor that I really liked. I got a pornstar martini and it was very good! Then go food I did ceasar salad, filet, and au gratin potatoes. The potatoes were so incredible, definitely the star of the show. Everything was so good tho, and service was great too

Given the choice, however, I now prefer the modern, polished, almost clubby feel of this location in the Seaport. The restaurant isn't particularly large, but it's a beautifully designed space. For larger groups, they have a few round tables that work especially well, including one that perfectly accommodated our party of seven. You can always count on a great dining experience at any of Chef Jamie Mammano's restaurants. His commitment to the highest quality chow, attentive service, fine wines, and an elegant atmosphere has made him one of Boston's most respected restaurateurs. Our meal here was spectacular. The cocktails were perfectly crafted, and it's hard to go wrong with anything on the menu. Standout starters included the Wagyu Beef Dumplings, Tuna Tartare, and the Dry-Aged Bolognese Lumache. For entrées, we shared several different cuts of steak, all expertly prepared and presented sliced for the table. The Beef Wellington is also fantastic here. The sides are uniformly excellent, but don't miss the Char-Roasted Heirloom Carrots with Honey and the Yukon Gold Potatoes. Desserts are equally impressive. Highly recommend both the Milk & Cookies and the Bananas Foster. I'd like to especially thank our waitress, who provided exceptional service and helped make the evening truly special. We were celebrating my son's graduation, and her warmth, professionalism, and attention to detail enhanced what was already a memorable occasion. I also appreciated the excellent service from their new sommelier. Mooo continues to set the standard for the modern Boston steakhouse experience. VERY HIGHLY RECOMMENDED

The reservation process was easy and a group of 5 was easily accommodated on the day and time requested. We arrived together after a short walk from the office. Bonus points to Moooo for not only having complimentary coat check, but also safe bag storage knowing much of their clientele on a weeknight is in transit from the office to home. Please people, don't forget to tip the coat check girls, it is only the right thing to do. Seated at our table the restaurant was initially fairly empty, but filled up nicely while we are already enjoying cocktails, wine, and appetizers. The long bar followed by tables of various sizes filled the restaurant, but it never was too loud and there was plenty of space between tables that you did not feel like you were sitting on top of each other or listening to their conversation more then the person across from your own table. Like most fine dining experiences, the complimentary rolls were served warm and lathered in melted butter. Sinful!. We ordered several appetizers for the table to share including tuna tartare which was very tasty and recommended. I also recommend the Japanese wagyu beef dumplings which were both delicate and savory. Lastly, the calamari was crispy and hot with the right amount of heat from the lemon and herb aioli. To accompany the entrees we ordered the broccolini, Yukon gold potatoes and the highly recommended tater tots. The only issue we had was with the tots which we collectively thought were both slightly over cooked and tasted "different". Said another way, I have never had a tater tot that didn't leave me wanting to eat them one after another until they were all gone, but this one was more than enough and more than 3/4 of the serving was left for the bus-person. Three of us ordered the 8oz Omaha filet which were cooked to perfection and delicious. Why is there not a 12 oz offering like most steak houses? Literally mine looked like it was 4 oz on the large, stark white plate when served. Thankfully being cooked to a perfect medium rare and accompanies by a bordelaise sauce which is also a rarity to find offered, was a treat. The prime New York sirloin and prime ribeye were equally cooked perfectly and delicious. We passed on dessert or after dinner drinks, but certainly enjoyed our visit. I have eaten at the Beacon Hill location previously, but this was my first experience in the seaport, but it won't be my last.

The steaks were expertly prepared, the sides were very good, and the service was professional, attentive, and polished from start to finish. The wine list was also thoughtfully curated, with plenty of excellent choices. Unfortunately, the ambiance did not match the quality of the food or the prices. We measured the noise level throughout dinner at approximately 76-81 dB, making conversation difficult without raising our voices. For a restaurant where steaks range from around $76 to over $200 for Wagyu, I expected a more refined, relaxed atmosphere. I was also surprised by how casually many guests were dressed. I have no objection to casual attire in general, but at this price point I was expecting more of a special-occasion dining experience. Instead, many diners were wearing Bermuda shorts, T-shirts, and sneakers, which made the atmosphere feel more like a busy upscale neighborhood restaurant than a luxury steakhouse. If you're looking for outstanding food and excellent service, Mooo delivers. If you're looking for a quiet, elegant fine-dining experience where you can enjoy a conversation over dinner, you may be disappointed.

Our wait staff was incredibly attentive without ever being overbearing, and the whole experience was truly out of this world. I started with the Golden Tide, which was a delicious combination of pineapple and orgeat flavors. Refreshing, tropical, and a great way to kick things off. For appetizers, I ordered fresh raw oysters and the scallop ceviche, I honestly don't know much about choosing oysters, so my waitress basically gave me a mini oyster class and I was impressed by how knowledgeable she was! She explained the differences between oysters, including how some are creamy and briny while others are much saltier, almost like taking a bite straight out of the ocean. Such a cool experience and something I genuinely appreciated. And that scallop ceviche? Hands down, the BEST ceviche I've ever had. The scallops were incredible, and I loved that they served it with root vegetable chips instead of the typical tortilla chips. Sweet potato chips added such a unique flavor and texture. Absolutely delicious! For dinner, I had the sumac-crusted tuna with haricots and assorted vegetables, and it was fantastic. The tuna was flavorful, beautifully prepared, and paired perfectly with the vegetables. Between the food, the atmosphere, the energy, and especially the knowledgeable and attentive service, Row 34 delivered a dining experience that I'll definitely remember. This is exactly the kind of restaurant that makes dining out feel like an experience rather than just a meal.

I still think about it and wish I could ship it hahaha. service was also stellar. the fish and chips was just a tad undercooked (not their fault, it was a huge piece of fish!) and our waitress was so accommodating to replace the whole plate quickly and apologize for the inconvenience. she also gave us some great recommendations for local bars to check out after our meal. every time I'm back in Boston I'm definitely coming back to Saltie Girl!

Instead, we were seated in the bar area, which had a loud, club-like atmosphere and didn't feel like the right setting for a special occasion. The service also fell short. It was quite slow, a few of our items were forgotten, and our second glass of wine was served warm. The food itself was good, but considering the price point, I think there are plenty of other restaurants that offer equally good--or better--food with more attentive service and a more upscale dining experience. Overall, it just didn't feel worth the cost, especially for a celebration.

The interior is pretty stunning, with large paintings all over the walls. It felt like a European art museum turned restaurant which was a cool surprise. There are also some neat statues around, with a lot of the decor reminding me of Revolutionary times. The atmosphere is comfortable and classy, and I almost felt like smoking a cigar or something while I was in the booth haha Our server didn't rush us and we had plenty of time to choose from the wine selection. The basket of bread was terrific, all kinds in there which I appreciate. I had a piece that tasted like it had cheesy onion in there, which I haven't had before. I got a cabernet to start. My appetizer was a lovely, refreshing salad, mixed greens with kale, feta cheese, dried cherries, toasted almonds, orzo and walnut mustard vinaigrette. There were wonderful textures to enjoy and it's probably enough for two people. I also had the wonderful German Riesling white wine they had. I had to go all out for the entree, choosing the seared hand-carved tenderloin (two 4 oz. pieces) with two butter poached lobster tails! I haven't had lobster surf 'n turf in many years so it was fun to have again. The dinner was wonderful, with hearty medium rare steaks very juicy and bursting with flavor. The lobster tails were sublime, and well garnished. We also got garlic spinach and mashed potatoes to share which were perfect sides. Because someone sent an appetizer back, we got a really nice dessert of a chocolate cake and some kind of soft tan colored cake with a lovely crust underneath. The meal was phenomenal and I think everyone should experience at least once, especially if you're hankering for a great steak!

Ali was an exceptional server. He paid attention to all the little details that turned a great meal into a memorable one. Without us even asking, he brought extra potatoes and creamed spinach for the table and made everyone feel genuinely cared for. One of our favorite moments was when he noticed the two boys (both 12) tackling the huge bone-in ribeye. He jokingly told them that if they finished it, dessert was on him. They accepted the challenge, cleaned their plates, and Ali happily kept his promise! Not only did he bring the desserts, but he surprised them with an extra dessert, and each dessert plate had "Congratulations!" written in chocolate. Those thoughtful, personal touches are what truly set a restaurant apart. This is exactly how you wow your guests. It's not just about serving outstanding food--it's about creating an experience people will remember. Our party of seven (four adults and three teenagers) spent about $800, and every single dollar felt worth it. The food was phenomenal, but what made the evening unforgettable was the hospitality. A heartfelt thank you to Ali and the entire Capital Grille team--from the bartenders, bussers, chefs, pastry chefs, hostesses, dishwashers, and everyone working behind the scenes. It takes an entire team to deliver an experience like this, and every one of you should be proud. We can't wait to come back!

There are options for AYCE as well as by weight, and if you do by weight you have to weigh everything you get at the side buffet and only get meat from the counter, so we opted for AYCE because that seemed cumbersome. The service here was friendly and attentive and as long as your token is green, the meat literally comes nonstop! I really liked their sides and salads, especially the plantains and fresh fruits. The meats were perfectly done and though they didn't really ask, all my pieces were medium/medium rare which is how I like it. The cut that was infused with garlic was really good, as were the sirloin and the chicken hearts and spicy pork sausages. Some pieces were very salty, but I'm pretty sensitive to salt. The grilled pineapple was luscious. If we didn't already have cake waiting for us at home, I would have definitely indulged in some tres leches or lime cake. They ended the meal with cooked cheese dipped in honey or guava sauce which was interesting. The fresh fruit at the salad bar was really refreshing. I probably wouldn't come back because it's just way too much meat/food for me and not my usual favorite (also rather pricey for dinner/weekends). However, my family had a great meal here and I think it's definitely a step up from fogo de chao in terms of quality and service. If you're into Brazilian steakhouses (or steak in general) I would highly recommend this place.
