One of the newer boba spots in the SGV, Charlie's Tea is another chain making its way over from China. I stopped by around dinner time and there was a short wait, but I was in and out pretty quickly. I ordered the Phoenix Dancong Oolong Milk Tea with boba at 30% sugar. The drink itself was pretty decent. The tea flavor was noticeable without being too strong, and the sweetness was just about right. The only thing I didn't really enjoy was the boba. It was a little too soft for my liking and lacked that chewy texture I usually look for. Overall, I thought the tea itself was good, and I'd probably come back again. Next time though, I'd skip the boba and just order the tea by itself.
Charlie's Tea is a very solid, above average milk tea spot. I would put them close to Molly, 3catea, and heytea level. I ordered the osmanthus oolong latte with osmanthus jelly. My drink was smooth, silky, and well balanced with a strong tea base. The jelly was nothing special though. Very basic and not close to the special texture of torotea jellies. Overall a really solid place, but with such heavy hitters like molly and 3catea on the same street, it struggles to stand out. I can see myself including this in my rotation once a while. You order on the tablet and pick up at the counter, so don't expect much service. The interior space is very tight so not a great place to hang out and chat or study.
My friend has been OBSESSED with Charlie's Tea. She lives close by and comes often for their BOGO deal on Uber Eats, and she drinks one during the car ride then the second at home lmao. I've only tried the Clovershrub Tea Latte ($6.49) since that was the BOGO deal that day, but I liked it! Floral and reminiscent of MollyTea. I don't think you can go wrong with anything on the menu, to be honest. They're located in a plaza that's also connected to the Hilton in San Gabriel. A two level parking garage is underneath that's convenient in getting to either location. I'll be back to try other flavors and toppings!

The tea was barely noticeable. At the very least, the drink is thirst quenching. I arrived at Charlie's Tea (San Gabriel) on Tuesday (around 11AM - Opening Time). Parking is simple. There's a convenient underground parking lot; sign says, "2 Hrs Customer Parking Only." There's also a couple spots to charge EV vehicles. Customers primarily order at the self-service kiosk. Staff is polite and diligent. Staff promptly greets new visitors before resuming their work. My drink took about five minutes. As mentioned, I ordered the Peach Oolong Milk Tea ($6.99 - Less Ice - 70% Sugar). It's a very unmemorable drink. The tea flavor was drowned in milk, and I had an underwhelming experience. There's hints of a quality base, but the amount of ingredients screamed frugal. Still, the drink is refreshing enough. On ambiance, Charlie's Tea (San Gabriel) is comfortable and clean. There's about five tables and a plush bench. I also enjoyed the instrumental piano music. There's also a gender neutral restroom. Overall, I appreciated my underwhelming visit to Charlie's Tea (San Gabriel). The drinks were not the most memorable, but I believe with better adjustments, there's sincere potential. Charlie's Tea (San Gabriel) is not awful. 3.9 out of 5
Popular tea brand in China with hundreds of locations worldwide, Charlie's Tea finally made its way to LA. They have a very limited menu, only offering variations of milk teas. Since they only focus on milk teas, the quality of each drink is pretty good. I have tried the Misty Peach Oolong Milk Tea, Clovershrub Tea Latte, and Phoenix Dancong Oolong Milk Tea. All drinks tasted pretty similar with slight differences. The tea flavor and aroma really stuck out. The drinks didn't feel too sugary at all. They were actually quite refreshing to drink. Although I don't think this tea shop lives up to Molly Tea's standards, my partner and I were still pleasantly surprised with our visits here. There are 5 small tables with bench seating all the way in the back of the shop, not a great spot to hang out at.
With all the boba shop in the area, the teas must really stand out to survive. I don't recall if there were options to get pure teas. I only saw milk teas or lattes. I dunno about the other drinks, but my clover latte was pretty average. I tasted a lot of milk. More milk than teas. I like the cups and all. It was pretty & cute. However, that was the end of it. Employees provided minimal services. We ordered thru the kiosk. One of the staffs mentioned about posting on IG to get a free gift. So that was nice. The manager or owner was not good with customer service. When we were waiting for drinks, these 2 ladies walked in and kept staring at us. No smile or anything. In fact, they looked pshhh...I really thought they were just regular customers until the lady in a white blouse walked to check in on the staffs and inventory...lol like what? You're a part of the establishment, but no greeting or anything nice.. Good luck

I always had to park underground and the parking spaces are tight. The first thing I saw when I stepped into the shops are the different creative designs of the cups that were really pretty. I ordered the Jade Dew Jasmine milk tea that I thought was a bit too light for me. The drink taste good but the tea was a bit light tasting and wasn't creamy enough. Packaging is cute tho.
I was really excited to try this place since I've heard good things. I ordered online for pick up. I got the clover shrub black tea with the hazelnut cream top and the green grape jasmine tea. The cream top comes separately when u order online. I put the cream top in my drink and took a taste and I realized the cream was SOUR. IT WAS SPOILED and went bad. I was so sad cuz I really wanted to like it. I ended up having to throw my drink away too since the cream already got inside. Sadddd I tried taking the cream out but some of it was already mixed into the drink. I ended up calling the store to tell them their batch was bad and he told me to refer the 3rd party site I ordered from in order to get my refund. The grape jasmine drink however was pretty tasty. It was light and the grape flavor was good. I got it with golden boba but it wasn't really sweeten. At least the texture was there. Overall I would try their other drinks. But this time left a bad taste in my mouth.
The charlesshrub tea latte was pretty. I tasted alot more tea which is good. I got 100% sweetness and it was perfect still. For the grape one it was super sweet so i think 70% wouldve been good for that. I wouldnt mind coming again. Didnt have a bad experience with them yet but i did notice they were busy even without the long line so i guess people are ordering online for pick up or delivery. It is in the corner and parking is easier if you go downstairs.
Came here on a Saturday after having lunch elsewhere. Parking was a bit of a challenge. It's a large lot but there's also just a lot of people. We did get lucky and there was only one person ahead of us when we got here so we were able to order quickly. I got the green grape jasmine tea latte with light sugar and it was very refreshing although I'm not sure I got a lot of green grape but I prefer it that way. The ordering area does get pretty crowded as there's not a ton of space but I like that they have some seating towards the back away from those waiting on drinks.
This review was for the aromatic lemon tea we order, it was too bitter from the pounded crush rind of the lemon and not much tea flavor! I do like their wide option of other tea and adjustment to the ice and sweetness ! Staff were really nice ! I might come back next time to order maybe one of their milktea ! Worth a try

Glad I was finally able to try out Charlie's Tea! I've seen their stores in China before and didn't realize they had expanded to the US. I popped in quickly to order two drinks while my friend waited nearby in the car. It's located in the plaza right next to the Hilton (I've been here for Cotti Coffee before) and has underground parking. On a Saturday afternoon, it wasn't too crowded. This location is fairly small with limited indoor seating, though they have some seats outside as well. I ordered my drinks via the kiosk and waited ~10 minutes before they were ready as there were a couple orders ahead of me. They make the drinks super quickly; they were calling out numbers almost every minute! I was super impressed with their speed. I ordered two drinks off their signature collection, which is their top 5 most popular/recommended drinks. I got: Misty peach oolong milk tea ($6.99 for medium) Ceylon black tea with pecan cream top ($7.49 for medium) For both drinks, 70% sugar was the recommended level. I figured it's a Chinese chain and shouldn't be too sweet, so I went with their recommendation. Just FYI, the other 3 drinks on their signature collection are the jade dew jasmine milk tea, green grape jasmine milk tea, and moonlit osmanthus oolong milk tea. When you get the drinks, the first thing you notice is the beautiful cups. There's a display in the store of all the cups they use and they're all so colorful! Of the two drinks, my favorite is the ceylon black tea. The peach oolong had a fragrant peach flavor, but for some reason it tasted a lot less sweet than the ceylon black tea, even though I ordered both at the same sugar level. The ceylon black tea had the perfect ratio of tea to milk to sugar imo, so I enjoyed it a lot more. I used the spoon they provided to scoop some of the pecan cream and that was delicious with the crunchy pecan bits as well! I will say that the drinks are a bit pricy for the size. I came on July 4 when they were offering a 26% discount on all orders, so that helped, but between the beautifully designed cups and the small-ish portions, this definitely felt like a luxury boba spot. read more

This is my newest obsession, whenever I want milk tea this is my to-go place. My favorite drink would be jade dew jasmine milk tea, the perfect balance of floral and tea. I opted for the 50% sugar level and the drink was perfect. Parking: Since the plaza has so many different restaurants parking can be a challenge, if you don't mind the walk they offer underground parking. read more

Ordered online. Pick was easy with no issues. A few tables inside as well as a few outside. Inside the Hilton Plaza, located in the corner. Same plaza as Cotti and TSUKE Artisan Noodle. The only problem is the parking. It's difficult to find parking no matter the day of the week. DRINKS: Fragrant Lemon Tea 4.25/5 70% sugar. Not bad. Got it with Jasmine Green Tea. It is fragrant alright. This combination tastes like floral lemon green tea. Lime slices in the drink. Rock Oolong Tea w/ Cheese Top 4/5 50% sugar. Ok/fine. Drinkable. Reminds me of Cha Redefine. read more

Parking: Very tight and small parking lot. More spaces underground but it gets filled up pretty fast. How many import teas are we gonna get in sgv? I'm not complaining though, I like the majority of them and Charlie's tea is a great addition. They fall under the line of molly tea and auntea jenny expansion into California. I prefer Charlie's over both the competitors in terms of milk tea. You are getting about the same size and same experience. But there was no crazy line and the misty peach + green grape milk teas are delicious compared to what some competitors offer at least in my preference. You are getting the usual $7+ tea for the high quality tea but I honestly think they did it the best. There was only one machine to take orders and this can be a potential bottleneck, im sure you can order through hungry panda and fantuan. The service was normal, there's limited seating and it's more of a grab and go shop, but it's enough. read more
WHY DOES IT SMELL LIKE MUSTY DURIAN IN HERE? At first I thought they might have a durian drink on their menu, but they didn't. Also the B grade on grand opening, isn't the best, but I guess it's just the location they're in and growing pains, but YOU KNOW WHAT? Despite all this, this is a great and formidable contender in the Valley Blvd BOBA WARS. I'd put them on the same level as Molly Tea for the quality and taste of their milk tea. You know the Chinese mean business in their boba and if you go to a place with one of those thin 3 pronged flute straws, you know it's going to be legit. They currently have some deals since they just opened such as posting on Instagram for an air freshener/scent card and you get a scratcher card too for future purchases and discounts. I went on a Thursday afternoon after the lunch rush and it was quite busy for that awkward time. Makes sense since they just opened and since they only have 1 ordering kiosk. I can't imagine what the weekend or Friday night crowds are like, but despite this the staff is super efficient and I didn't have to wait long at all for my drink to come out. Like many of the newly emerging Chinese tea franchises in SoCal, the cup and bag design and overall aesthetic is immaculate. Great for pictures and I love that it's actually cute and has some colorful, elegant flair to it versus the minimalism slop we are subjected to. Love the ancient Chinese art with the people all holding tea. There's some seating to the side back, but it's limited and the waiting area is the place that gets the most crowded. Beware on a busy day or night though. I got their Clovershrub Tea Latte at 70% sweet and less ice. I had no concept of what a clover shrub was, thinking that it's like the grass clovers that we have here in America, LOL. After Googling it, it's a flowering plant from the pea family. Very lightly floral and a creamy milk tea taste and flavor. Delicious and if it weren't for the straw stopping me, I'd inhale all of it. I was skeptical at first due to the smell and the limited menu, but Charlie's Tea is definitely one of my top boba spots. However, I must preface every review I write for any business in this plaza. It's a PvP zone with no regard for human life. Cars just turn and back out without a care in the world and it's super crowded up and down stairs. I would park elsewhere, at your own caution, and walk to this plaza. read more

I'm glad to find this tea place. I love my peach oolong milk tea and my topping is tea Jelly. I got it 70% as recommended and it came out perfect for my pallet. I'm not a big fan of sweet drinks and I thought it may come out a little too sweet, but it is not too sweet at all My hubby got Brown sugar bubbles Ceylon black milk tea with 50% sweet. He loved it. It also was a good sweetness. The place is cute , small with 5 tables and one side bench sofa a long the wall in the back area. Not good for big groups. It is more of take out. Fast and friendly service. read more
Located in the Hilton Plaza in SGV, adding to the already super packed plaza is Charlie's Tea, a new tea spot that's adding to the huge variety of tea shops on Valley Blvd alone. First impressions is that the style is very similar to Molly Tea. Cups, caps, straws, and overall design is very similar. Is that a good thing? Very much so. Parking - Free in a crowded parking lot, underground parking is also available. I would honestly park across the street in the 99 ranch plaza if there's no parking whatsoever and just walk across. My wife and I visited during their grand opening weekend where they were doing BOGO. We were able to get our hands on some tasty Misty Peach Oolong Tea. It was super refreshing especially since it was a bit of a warmer day. Packaging is wonderful, design overall is very cute and definitely has a "bouncy" vibe to it. This is definitely a go to drink if you like the lighter side of tea. The sweet peach + oolong flavoring is always a good recommendation. We also loved that the interior is not too small but not too big either. Couple tables inside but it's mainly a grab and go type tea shop. Decorations all around along with friendly & quick staff is also a nice sight to see as well. Happy to have a lot tea option in a crowded SGV area. Will definitely be returning another time to try their other drinks. read more
New boba shop in the SGV! The shop reminded me of Chayanyuese in Changsha with their signature pecan ceylon tea. Located in a plaza with a lot of food and drink options, there is a plentiful underground parking lot as well as some surface parking. I tried the Pecan Ceylon Tea and the peach oolong tea. The Pecan ceylon tea had a delicious whipped topping and was perfectly balanced with the light milky tea. The peach oolong was also pretty good, with a light fruity milky taste. We added golden boba to it, which was fresh and tasty. We came on 5/20 so it was the BOGO 50% off deal. The service was patient with giving recommendations. They called our number and need the receipt to verify your order. Getting the order was quick and there were plenty of tables inside to sit and drink at. Overall, would recommend this place! Fresh and light milky lattes. Their menu is pretty small but I hope to be back to try another one of their teas. read more
Only tried one tea so far and had to give 5 stars. Disclaimer is that I did try this spot for the first time because of their buy one get one free deal. I ordered a grape green milk tea and it was tasty! I thought the combination sounded odd and maybe not good but it was surprisingly good. I feel like their milk could have made it extra special as in it tasted more like cream. The aesthetics of the shop was elegant and the designs for their cups and napkins were added detailed touches done just right. The tea shop has been on my mind since and I have been telling all my friends how much I enjoyed it! read more
Charlie's Tea is located in the same plaza as A Bakery, TSUKE Artisan Noodle and also newly opened NaiSnow Tea & Bakery. Charlie's Tea is having their grand opening this weekend with buy one get one free selected drinks, which is what brought both my husband and I today (their grand opening special runs through tomorrow with a different drink as part of their buy one get one free deal). The wait wasn't really too long and I believe we waited about 30 or so minutes total to order our drinks and to pick them up. For this grand opening special, we ended up getting: Ceylon Black Milk Tea, $6.69- We both decided to take advantage of this deal so we got a total of 4 drinks for the price of two. We ordered 2 drinks to be made with no ice and no sweetener. We ordered the other 2 drinks to be made with no ice and 30% sweetener. The drinks made with the 30% sweetener was a little better than the one without but I could also drink it without sweetener (just as a reference, I typically order 25% sweetener or no sweetener at tea houses because I think drinks made with 50% sweetener is too sweet for me now). The tea was very good and paired perfectly with the milk used. The tea was smooth and just made right. --------------------------- (Total= $13.38, tax included + after grand opening special) When we got inside this small tea house, there was one kiosk by the window to order (and yes you are also able to get the buy one get one free special on that kiosk) and also one employee by the counter to take your order (which is what we ended up doing, just because of us being next to make an order). The employee helping us was nice and he also spoke English (for those wondering if one would have trouble ordering). Overall, we had a great experience at Charlie Tea and would come back. But the major downfall is the parking. Although there is an underground parking lot, you are required to pay. But on this day that we visited, they were not charging for parking but am sure this is not how it normally is since there is a sign regarding self parking prices ($10) in the underground parking lot. read more

Checked out this new tea spot in San Gabriel named Charlie's Tea. It is in a small shopping lot area with pretty tight parking. The store itself is a little small. But it does have some chairs and tables in the back. I ordered their Jasmin tea and it tasted pretty good! Interior-wise I like the color scheme and the drink was delicious. Had to wait a little bit but I think it is actually pretty good. read more
The grape Jazmin is soooo good! That is my to go drink when I order from here. The service is always great, everyone is kind and welcoming, the place is clean and has inside seating as well as soft music playing in the background. I will say I'm a little disappointed because I believe they are cutting cost and giving plastic bags instead of nice somewhat paper insulated bags with a beautiful design. The paper bag looks really cheap so I hope they can go back to the more attractive insulated bag. I would definitely recommend this place. read more
With the rise of modern luxe boba shops popping up left and right, this one was alright and not my favorite. Prices are quite reasonable but if you wanted to add a topping like boba it's an additional $1. Added Brown Sugar Boba to one of our drinks and it was a disappointment. Mushy, no bounce or chew that good boba has. Ceylon Black Milk Tea -tea flavor was quite mild, would have preferred it to be a bit stronger. It wasn't overly creamy which I prefer. Moonlit Osmanthus Oolong Milk Tea -floral but not overly floral but wasn't as strong as I'd prefer either. Good but not great. read more

Came here during their soft opening got the green grape jasmine tea latte and the ceylon with pecan cream top; amazing 10/10, perfect sweetness, fruit flavor not overwhelming at all and tea strength is very good, not bitter, and you can taste it! Wanted to go back the next day because I slurped it up so fast! But I wanted to try the toppings, so I waited a bit! Came back today and got the Dancong Oolong milk tea with boba and the peach oolong milk tea, peach is subtle and tastes super delicious not overwhelmed at all, like the grape! The dancong milk tea is sweet and has a good tea base and the boba is soft! Looking forward to the next drink! read more
Grand opening in April 2026. I heard Charlie's Tea is a popular drink spot in China. I ordered the Ceylon Black with pecan cream top and the Misty Peach Oolong Milk Tea, which are among their top five drinks. I liked the Peach Oolong much more--it was smooth, with a rich tea flavor and a nice hint of peach. It actually reminded me of Molly Tea. The Ceylon Black tasted more like a regular milk tea with cream, not as flavorful as the Peach Oolong. read more
Charlie's tea couldn't have picked a worse parking lot, because it will take you longer to park, than to actually get your order. The tea itself, is great, it is comparable to Molly Tea. You're basically choosing this if one or the other has a longer wait time. However, you're just here to grab and go, the shop itself is very small, so you don't really have space to hang out here. Fresh brewed tea + freshly boiled boba....What's not to like. The teas are more traditional vs your classic milk tea or powered drinks. Our teas were still warm as they brewed it fresh and just added ice which is as fresh as it gets. I didnt mind the lightly cooled temperature. We got the Peach Oolong and Oamanthus Oolong. Both with ice and recommended sugar. Drinks were by far the best versions of Oolong Ive had in a long time. Aromatic amd authentic. Service was quick given they were packed when we went but you can order off a kiosk or at the counter. Minimal seating inside but they give you an awesome insulated bag for take out. Parking is difficult but it's underground. Definitely recommend if youre in the area! read more
It may be the best milk tea I've ever had! The tea is freshly brewed and fragrant. Perfectly balanced. I got the Moonlit Osmanthus Oolong Milk Tea and enjoyed it very much. I just wish it was a bit colder and maybe a bit more ice, especially since the tea is made hot. But I wouldn't want to dilute the tea either. The service was fast and friendly, even when it was very busy. You order at a kiosk and then wait for your drink. It's in a small shop with limited seating in a shopping place next to the Hilton. There's free underground parking which is a huge plus. read more
Came again to try peach oolong tea and osmanthus oolong. The peach oolong tea has a bitter taste which is interesting and is actually a pleasant surprise. Tastes very different than other boba shops. The osmanthus oolong is very nutty which is also surprising to me because osmanthus usually isnt nutty but i enjoy them very much read more
Consistency and speedy regardless how busy they are, this is my 2nd time visiting them and each time there is a line and there's a reason for that. Great tasting milk tea, similar to Molly's tea house but different flavors. I honestly like this one more, better tea taste imo. Well try them and let me know your opinions. Quick service even with a long line out the door. We waited around 30 minutes to order. Here's the drinks breakdown: Moonlit Osmanthus Oolong Milk Tea has a floral taste with a slight Oolong aftertaste. Refreshing and best with the Osmanthus jelly 4/5 Phoenix Dancong Oolong Milk is a creamy yet slightly fruity taste with a sweet aftertaste. With Osmanthus jelly (not included in original drink), it makes it a bit more floral. 4.5/5 Small interior with a kiosk and a bench as well cute decor. No lines, no wait, easy to order at kiosk and barely any wait for my drink! Can't complain. Also, a simple post on social media to get their car freshener freebie! Charlie's Tea Jade Dew Jasmine Milk Tea was really refreshing after a long day. The 70% sweetness is perfect, while lots of tea flavor coming through. Super cute packaging as well! Jade Jasmine Milk Tea - 4/5. It tasted super mid on my first visit, but when I came back, it was great. They might still be figuring out the ratios. The cream top is smooth and not overly sweet. The store was crowded for their grand opening, but the drinks came out quickly. Parking in this plaza is chaotic though... you might be better off parking in the plaza across the street. read more
