This place is always good. Food is consistent, place is spotless and the wait staff are nice beyond measure. We got chips and salsa to start, and they refilled our chips for free. We both got the chicken club salad, but instead of fried chicken we got grilled. The chicken was pretty overdone, but not so much so that I felt the need to send it back. I don't know how they do it, but this place always makes you feel welcome, and I have never had bad service here. This is a really good place to go eat. I was hesitant at first due to the name, location, and food type. The reviews do the place justice. It was really good food. You also got a good portion. There wasn't too much or too little food. Which is really nice to me as I hate when restaurants try to give you 3 times the amount of food you really need. To me it seems like a waste when they do that. The server was very nice and very helpful. My wife usually has a hard time choosing what she wants to eat and the server helped her choose what she would like best. Plus everything is so fresh tasting and not packaged/frozen tasting. This is one of my favorite places to get what I think is the best Prime Rib in the valley. The service is always very friendly and efficient and the atmosphere is lends itself perfectly to couples looking for a little romance. Everything is a bit pricey but worth every penny. Food great, Service poor. We made a reservation for a birthday celebration on a Friday night. They were packed, but they were ready for our party of 10. Initially, I thought the service was OK, until we had to keep asking for things that should be standard. Water refills, little requests like ranch dressing, soup and salads not coming out, etc. I love Charleston's, and the one in Chandler seems to be much better together than this location. Overall, I still enjoyed the food. I do know the manager brought out some plates and heard some of the misses. I guess it would have been nice if they had owned up to it and maybe picked up an appetizer as a gesture? I was waiting, nothing, so hence my review. Overall, for the $$$, I expect the little things to not be an issue, but they missed them. I am not sure if they were under-staffed, it was very crowded and loud. Will we be back? Went into Charleston's Tuesday night for last minute Happy Hour deals. We sat in the bar and had the pleasure of sitting in Justin's section. He was friendly, quick, and was the exact definition of a wonderful server. My friend and I started with the spinach artichoke dip which Justin recommended and was as amazing as he described. I got Moscow Mules which were some of the best I have ever had. My friend is a very picky vegetarian and loves the impossible burger from Charleston's more than any other restaurant. Went in last night because I was craving prime rib and key lime pie. As we were walking in we overheard a very energetic server interacting with her guests. Requested her but unfortunately she was already cut. Ended up sitting in Christian's section and were not disappointed with service or food. Ordered a glass of Kim Crawford Savignon Blanc; one of my personal favorites. Price point was great especially considering the size of the pour. My mom and I ended up splitting the pork chop with mashed potatoes and the sweet carrots. We also started with a side salad with Christian's recommended dressing. Each salad came with a croissant. EVERY SINGLE PART OF OUR MEAL WAS AMAZING and even though we split everything the portions were so big we took half home. Food is not cheap but the quality makes it worth it. We were too full to even order the pie so I'm just gonna have to go back asap for just dessert. Cant wait! read more

My family and I have been coming to Charleston's for some time now and it never disappoints. Had a small mix up on the appetizers where it was no ones fault but they were very quick to make everything right. Alfonso was our waiter and he was so great the entire time. He took his time with us and made sure we had everything when we needed it. The rest of the staff were quick to pick up our empty plates, and empty glasses. Greatest service all around. We had dinner here last night and were disappointed. We ordered drinks and another waiter delivered them with 2 other drinks in his hand and spilled some of the other drinks on my wife's foot and all we got was "opps". He did not return with a cloth or anything. She ordered prime rib medium and received medium rare so she sent it back. When she got it back you could tell it was nuked which made it tuff. I ordered the catfish and the all crust pretty much fell off the fish before I could dip it in the tartare sauce. Before when we were there the manager would work the room asking how things were and if he do do anything to make it better. Never saw the manager. We will not be going back any time soon. read more

Review #1 Sunday I was invited to dinner at a place called Charlestons. This place caught my attention as soon as we arrived. When I stepped in door I heard this soft jazzy southern music, and was greeted by a friendly hostess. There's a soft romantic atmosphere as I are walked to my seat. The de'core was very southern style, with dark mahogany wood and gas lamps burning all around you. This was my first time eating at Charlestons, even though my friends tried to describe the place and the food to me I had to try for it for myself. This is an experience you have for youself. There was a couple with us from Chicago who had been to Arizona before. Charlestons is their requested place to eat whenever the are in town. I've eaten at several good restaurants all over the country, and I would give this place 5 stars on taste and style. I went to a place in Plano,Texas called Red White, and Blue. The main theme and menu, was all types of southern soul food. Soul food consist of foods like; fried chicken, mustard greens, mac and cheese, fried fish, potato salad, sweet potato pie, peach cobbler, and many other dishes. I thought that was an experience, but after going to Charlestons I have definitely had a change of heart. For dinner I had the catfish platter, served with two sides of my choice. I chose fried okra and sweet glazed carrots. There were nine different sides to choose from or to add to your meal. They also have seven different specialty dinners, like Grilled Pork Chops, Baby Back Ribs, Center- Cut Filet, and so much more. Not only was the food delicious and perfectly cooked, it was hot when it arrived at the table. The serving size of all the the meals that I seen were huge and well worth the price of $15.00. The most expensive meal on the menu is the 14oz Roasted Prime Rib, which is only $23.00. They have a large variety wine and regular drinks to chose from. All the deserts are $7.00, inculding Bread Pudding, Hot Fudge Brownies, Key Lime Pie, and Ice cream. We came in a very large group of people, and the service was very friendly, timely, and organized. I would recommend this place to anyone looking for a excellent experience and good food. . The prices are very affordable, and the portions are sizable. They also have large refillable dinner drinks, and a large variety wine and beer to chose from. The fish was crispy and perfectly cooked, the honey glazed carrots were to die for, and the fried okra was exceptional. Don't just take my word for it, go and experience it for youself. read more

Just moved to Mesa and discovered this restaurant. We have been 3 times in a few weeks. Everything we have tried has been amazing. Service has been great. Would recommend the dynamite shrimp, hand cut filet, and key lime pie. Sometimes the steak isn't cooked as well as I would like it but they always fix it. I ask for medium and sometimes it comes out medium rare. Last time they fixed it and compensated us for it and it was still delicious. Will be back soon. read more

I usually don't have a problem with a restaurant if I get bad food or service one time. At Charleston's three times, now, I've had to send my meal back because they had cooked my steak wrong. When the food is cooked propely, however, it is excellent. The atmosphere is dark and a great place to take a date. The food is not quite as good as you would expect for the price. The ambiance is basically like Olive Garden, which again is disappointing for the prices. At the Charleston prices, they could stand to squeeze fewer patrons in (thin out the number of tables), so I'm not forced to listen to kids arguing over iPads and chicken nuggets. We love Charleston's! Dined there too many times to count! Recently at this location we had two negative experiences. Today we tried their spinach artichoke dip. First bite was perfect. No problem. Second bite immediately became attached to the roof of my mouth and was far too hot to eat. Severe burns to roof of mouth! No warning that it would be this hot and first bite was fine. Should have been warned or cautioned!!!! Nothing!!! Roof of moth began sloughing skin immediately! Worst roof of mouth burn injury I've ever had by far. Not happy!!!! I actually have buyer's remorse even several days after eating here. High prices for not a lot of food. We both were hungry about an hour after eating here for dinner. No bread before our entrees..me and my fiance were staring at each other starving, waiting for our food. We would have ordered a Cesar Salad..but they didn't have one on the menu (I thought that is standard steakhouse fare). Our waitress was somewhat of an apparition. We asked for horseradish to go with the primerib and she asked a follow up question and then never came back with it. We couldn't even flag her down to ask for it again...although randomly without a word she would bring drink refills even though we didn't need or ask for them yet?!? I didn't feel the loaded bake potato had enough topping...so I guess it wasn't that loaded after all. Overall disappointing. read more

When you walk in, it's dark and relaxing. The atmosphere is nice, quiet, with alot of dark wood highliting the place. The food is good, but be careful because the price can add up quickly. This will always be a restaurant I go to, with burgers and steaks and spinach dip. The best way to think of this place, is a lower grade of Houstons. It's almost there, but not quite. read more
