I came here for a birthday brunch during my recent trip to New Orleans and this was a standout meal! I always have high expectations when visiting this city and this restaurant is upholding those standards. The location is great, decor is classy, lovely outdoor seating and it was extremely clean including the restrooms. We were a party of 7 and our waitress was polite and attentive, she kept my water glass full, the table joked about how I was working her because I drink so much water. I ordered the chapter lV salad and it was excellent, super fresh and all the toppings complimented each other. The pepper jelly vinaigrette was a standout, an unexpected dressing I'd love to try making at home. I got the redfish for my entree and it was superb, perfectly seasoned, excellent portion, and reasonably priced. The crab fried rice was far better than expected, this is a plate where you want a little of everything on each forkful. 3 of us ordered this dish and we all cleared our plates. Only bummer was someone at our table wanted a pancake a la carte but we were informed the chef doesn't allow that. The food was good, but a cheap lunch it ain't. I went with a group of coworkers for lunch on a Tuesday. There were 5 of us and we did not have reservations. Luckily we got there early enough to beat the lunch rush and were immediately seated at a tall round table. The table had proportionately tall chairs with low backs; nice for the aesthetic, but uncomfortable. I got the seafood linguine, which was very nice. Despite having a fair share of butter, it felt a lot lighter than the typical smothered-in-sauce pasta dishes. It was a refreshing change of pace. Initially I had also wanted a cup of gumbo, but they only had a $10 size which I assume was a bowl, so that was kind of disappointing. The kicker here was cost. I'm still adjusting to the new inflation prices, so I'm giving some leeway, but $31.07 (all inclusive) feels like a lot for lunch, especially since I could've easily eaten it all in one sitting. I would hope at that price at lunch I'd at least have enough leftover for another meal. My table decided to pay via the QR codes on our checks. When you pay that way there is a tip selected by default. However, we were considered a large group so gratuity was already included in our bills; if we hadn't caught that and selected a custom tip of zero, we would have double-tipped. There is a bus stop hub nearby, so it's fairly easy to get to by public transit. If you drive you're going to have to pay for parking, but the HEAL parking garage is nearby. read more

A friend of ours suggested this place, and I was over the moon ecstatic to see that this was one of the many restaurants owned and operated by the family! An enormous disappointment for our son's 30th birthday. The minute we entered and told the hostess of our 12:30 pm reservation, an over zealous employee came out of nowhere, citing without question, "there's a hour and a half wait time." How stupid did she look when the fact of the reservation was repeated. We were seated 35 minutes before asking for a manager due to no service. When the waitress finally arrived, she stated that she had three other orders to take before ours. Who does that! She never returned, literally. After the second complaint to an employee, a woman came to the table to take the order, but did not acknowledge that she was the manager requested until being told that we were waiting on the manager. She took the order, and in less than 20 minutes, it arrived fresh and hot. Still no waitress who had passed our table and look our way without ever stopping to provide service. Finally, again, she came by over 90 minutes into the dining experience to ask if we wanted dessert. CHECK PLEASE!!!!! Zero is always our hero when dealing with servers who are lazy, inattentive, bias, prejudice, disrespectful, or plain ole' dumb. Chapter IV is ONE and DONE! I've been wanting to try Chapter IV for brunch and finally got the chance to over the weekend. The restaurant was packed when I arrived, but I was able to sit at the bar. Giselle was nice and gave great recommendations. I started with the gumbo, and it reminded me of my grandma's (old school filé). The gumbo had chicken, sausage, hot sausage, and shrimp in it. The rice was a little hard. I do think $12 was pricey for the portion. The same portion is $8 at other restaurants in the city. I also ordered the catfish and grits. The grits were creamy topped with fried catfish, corn maque choux, and crawfish tails. The dish was delicious! Unfortunately, the restaurant only serves unsweetened tea, so I opted for the lemonade. The lemonade was made in-house and had a good flavor. Overall, the restaurant was clean and beautiful. The staff was friendly, and the food was pretty good. This kills me to leave this review. I had been looking so forward to finally trying this restaurant for brunch as many of my friends just love the food and service. Where do I start? Brunch was a busy JazzFest brunch - lots of people in town and this place was full. There was no one 'working' the front door - just people everywhere, couldn't see a floor manager or a host or anyone organizing the crowd. I joined my friends and one person at the table had been waiting over 20 minutes for a drink he ordered. When I joined it was at least another 15 minutes before the server approached the table and took my drink order. My friend mentioned he was still waiting on his cocktail and the server said it should be out shortly. Actually my drink was served before my friend's was, his cocktail came out about 15 minutes after mine was delivered. In fairness to the server he looked like he had way too many tables. After waiting for at least 30 minutes we finally got our food ordered and my friends food came out about 30 minutes later. Note that I placed my order at the SAME TIME as my friends but there was no food for me and the person delivering the order to the table didn't notice. We tried to stop them to ask but they dropped food and ran back to the kitchen. 5, 10, 15, 20 minutes - no server and still no food. I finally got up in search of the waiter who I think was with a table in the front of the restaurant? I told one of the ladies working the bar that I never got food and she responded 'it will be coming out'. I tried to find a manager, a captain, just SOMEONE but gave up and went back to my table after telling another food runner I still had not received my order. Another 15 minutes goes by and I FINALLY see our server. I told him that I had not gotten any food, my friend never got his second cocktail... he said my food was coming out and he kept on moving. Another 15 minutes goes by. I get up again, this time I find a mature lady at the front of the restaurant and she appears to be a server. She graciously listens to me and tells me she will find my server and what's going on with my order. Shortly after that the server appears and brings me complimentary gumbo which was appreciated as I was hungry and my friends had long finished their food. The server explains that he forgot to put my order in and that is why it took so long. Finally! My food comes out and the server mentions several times my food will not be on our ticket. Honestly?? I guess thanks but at this point I was so hungry and tired of waiting and being ignored I was just over it. At least 3-4 employees knew I was waiting on food and the only one that did anything about it was the nice lady working in the front of the restaurant. My food was really good, hot and full of flavor. I think I would have enjoyed the meal if I didn't have to wait for an hour after everyone else had gotten their meal. I'm giving two stars for the food and the super nice lady that followed through for me. If she had not I don't think I would ever have received food. This RUINED our brunch - me getting up time and time again to try and find our food, drinks, and server so I was getting up alot and constantly interrupting conversation so perhaps I could eat. We are friends and two of us had not seen each other in over 5 years and we wanted to celebrate and order tons of food and drinks but that did not happen. Get it together Chapter IV, don't take so many reservations that your service can't back up guests actually enjoying their time at your restaurant. This was my 1st visit to chapter IV, and i must say i really enjoyed my food, i kept it simple and it worked for me. I ordered a starter as my meal chili ribs and chicken wings with a side fries. There were a couple of large groups there, but our food still came out fast and hot. We tasted each others' meals, and I must say, everything was tasty. I read another person's somewhat negative review on the catfish, grits, and corn. That's what I ordered and I thought it was delicious. The grits was hot and creamy, the fish was crispy and well cooked, and the corn was really tasty - not overly seasoned, but flavorful. Wow, I initially was so excited to come here for a private event. We rented out the establishment for a few hours with an open bar. You can tell they have some experience with events, but I think this was a heavy task for them. I was denied drinks at an open bar (yes, open bar). Our servers were generally nice but definitely pretty frazzled (especially to say that we were ordering from a limited menu and were all on one tab) and weren't quite on top of things. Also, as beautiful as the windows allow for the space to be, it makes for a very HOT experience in summertime Nola, lol. We were all sweating especially after eating those hearty, warm dishes. Stunning all around... Upon entering, I was pleased to see an array of table and seating options. High top tables to romantic two tops and larger table configurations for large groups. The bar is spacious as well for folks that prefer bar seating. I came in on a Sunday for brunch with my family.
