Big shout out to Chamard for still doing take out of their delicious food. Just had a great beef bourguignon dinner with charcuterie and salad. Quality was great and a great way. Not to have to cook tonight. Next time will order dessert!! Keep up the great job read more

Confrontational, unwelcoming, mean as sin; maybe I'm too tan? Horrible hostess that didn't even look up at me when I said hello. Then she started haughtily going on about not able to move up my reservation when I mentioned there were available times on Opentable. After a wonderful spring trip and warm, top-notch establishments in Mystic and Westerly (Shipwrights Daughter and The Bistro at Ocean House among others) we felt like we were spat on. We left after I let her know that their burgers are good but not that good! The kind server who was helping seemed like he knew how to treat patrons and HUMANS. Too bad they all have to be around that unhappy woman. Never again. Our first experience there, my friend and I sat at the patio tables and we were ignored while trying to order our food until we asked if we were in the right place. The burger was so good that I brought my family here as our last stop before heading home to Boston. What a way to wrap up an otherwise amazing trip. Shame on you, Chamard. read more

Wow! On a recent Friday I went with some family and friends to The Bistro at Chamard Vineyards and it was fantastic! We had a great meal and sampled excellent wines (Stone Cold White is one that worked perfectly with what I had). The food was superb - artisnal, flavorful, abundant and so attractive. Each plate was both exciting to see as well as taste. The Bistro's ambiance was warm, inviting and very comfortable. We had a wonderful farm table towards the back with a stunning view. As the sun dropped lower the light was magical - creating the perfect setting to enjoy the experience. The folks at Chamard should be mentioned as well as they are friendly, knowledgeable and genuine, making us feel right at home. After lunch we took a casual tour. We explored the grounds and even during the winter with the vines at rest, the place was so beautiful! What a great way to spend the day. I would recommend this to anyone who wants a relaxed, memorable experience - any day! read more

Had an excellent brunch at the Bistro yesterday. The vineyard has changed ownership since I was last there + the changes, all positive, are very noticeable. The Bistro is decorated with sculptures made from barrel staves, very appropriate + very attractive. We began with some Mediterranean spreads which were all very tasty. My friend had scrambled eggs in brioche with smoked salmon. I had an omelette with spinach, tomato + a local cheese. Both came with a generous salad with a light vinaigrette. We shared a bottle of their rose', which was very dry + crisp, and perfect with the food. We thoroughly enjoyed the meal. We will definitely be going back. read more

The wine is surprisingly good. They grow some of the grapes on site and import some from Chile. Maybe from other locations too. The food was good but not amazing. Still worth a trip just to try the wine. They have a tasting room where you can do flights. Otherwise order a la carte since they have 2 oz pours, by the glass and by the bottle in the main dining room. Good for date night or any dressier occasion. read more

Came for a late afternoon lunch. Although busy, we were able to get a table. Had a lovely meal. Everything we had was fresh, tasty, and beautifully presented. Hubby had the corn and clam chowder and I had the heirloom tomatoes with burrata cheese. Although I didn't think I could eat another bite, we had the croque madam as well asthe succotash. Yum, yum, yum. We will certainly go again. read more

A great Saturday afternoon we spent with a dear friend who flew in for the weekend. What a fabulous lunch we had, sharing many dishes, sipping wine. Chamard more then delivers on food quality and service. Carrie Ann waited on us and was helpful on recommendations on food & wine. We can't wait to go back again!! Make a date and get there! read more

Absolutely beautiful. Delicious food and great wine. Service was exceptional. Great addition to the already amazing vineyard!

We had an amazing dinner at Chamard. The polite host and hostess took our coats when we walked in, and our table (which we had reserved) was ready right away. I was impressed with the menu selection -- I really think that anyone could find something that they would love here. I ended up getting the Harvest Salad, which was light and refreshing, and the Parisian Gnocchi. The gnocchi wasn't heavy but was extremely flavorful and rich. The service was incomparable to any other restaurant I've ever been to -- that's how great it was! Everyone was so warm, welcoming, friendly, and ready to help. Had the almond tart and the creme brulee for dessert and we will definitely back, hopefully in the summer when the vineyard is growing! I've never been inspired to write a positive yelp review before coming here. Chamard earned it! read more

Absolutely fabulous lunch! I've been to the vineyard in the summer months but recently needed a place for lunch in the Clinton area. I was pleasantly surprised to see the delish menu and rave reviews for the bistro and quickly made a reservation. I'm glad I did because it was very busy on Saturday afternoon. Even in the winter the grounds and vines were beautiful, covered in snow. I will certainly come back again! read more

The food is 3-stars worthy but because of the price tag, I'll go with two. Every dish was priced about $3-4 more than it should have been. Gnocchi ($20) very, very under-salted, asparagus side dish was what looked like a single asparagus shaved into ribbons (for $7), flatbread was pretty flavorless and was basically an oven-toasted pita ($11), mac and cheese was the best but it was $11 for maybe one cup of pasta total. Their chardonnay was nice, as was the sauvignon blanc. Service was lackluster-- I could tell the waitstaff was barely trying to act like they cared about my table. read more

What a charming, lovely place for a meal. My husband & I came here for lunch while my sister-in-law finished her shopping at the Clinton Crossing outlets. We had their Malbec with our meals & it was delicious. Beautiful atmosphere as well. read more

My husband and I had so much fun here! We were staying on our sailboat at the Cedar Island Marina and were looking for a place for dinner. A guidebook to the area given to us by the marina listed this place. It's 3 miles from the Marina and therefore required a taxi, but it was so worth it! The wine was delicious, the food scrumptious, and the grounds beautiful. Our waitress was very attentive and provided us with prompt service. She also offered recommendations regarding taxi companies since we were not familiar with the area. We hope to come back some day! read more

Chamard Bistro - Vineyard before sunset. - French Near Me - Clinton, Connecticut

See all

We went to Chamard's for a late lunch on a sunny mild Saturday afternoon in October. The vines were being harvested that afternoon, so that was cool to see. The bistro was pretty crowded, and we had a reservation but we were late, so we waited anyway. Things quieted down and we sat at a nice natural wood table in the lounge with comfortable stools, rather than at the standard rectangle tables in close proximity to other people in the main dining room. Menu was the same, and we got to see what was going on in the open kitchen. The food was pretty amazing and we were glad we went there! The husband is French and won't eat salad unless it's bonafide "French" style, and he devoured the frisee salad (!) We ordered four entrees: the seared duck breast with roasted grapes, lentils and spinach (it was awesome), the steak frites (fire grilled ribeye with thinly sliced deep fried potatoes and herb butter) -- the steak was the table's favorite entree item along with the duck. We also order the burger with side salad, it was okay, a very salty burger patty and overall dish, but we ate it. Then we had the pork chop entree, it was tasty with the roasted veg and baby potatoes. Again the favorites were the duck and the steak. The wines were good, a little dry for my taste, but the chardonnay seemed to be the best of the three we tried from the Charmad Estate (a rosee, a peachy-white blend, and the chardonnay). We ordered the small 2-oz pours of each, and it was the perfect amount. Dessert was GREAT! we had the raspberry almond tart (that was a taste of heaven in a buttery bite), the chocolate ganache bomb (it was also a chocoholic paradise moment), and they have the best chocolate pudding ("pot de creme") it was so rich and delightful. Each dessert has a dollup of freshly whipped cream on top, lightly sweetened, it was perfect. And they made a pot of french pressed coffee for the table, served with these crystallized sugar stirrers and fresh cream. Such a delight. They never rushed us away, despite the fact that dinner service was beginning soon. We kept ordering stuff, and enjoying ourselves. The servers and chef staff were all nice and made us feel welcome and refilled the water pitchers (we like that we didn't have to ask for water). The outside was lovely and lots of people were doing tastings outside, people seemed happy. We'll definitely be back! read more

Your get MORE then what you pay for. One of the best grass feed burgers I've had, same goes for the aioli fries. View of the Vineyard is really nice. Highly recommended! read more

Haven't been to Chamard in years. Loved the new bistro. Spectacular room, fantastic decor and great food. Hard to believe you are five minutes from I-95 and the outlets. Wanted to try everything on the menu. Bibb salad with beets to die for. Shared a bottle of sauvignon blanc, which was surprisingly tasty. The service was top notch. I will be running back soon. read more

Excellent food, wine, service & atmosphere! It reminded me of a mini Napa. Definitely a great place to go with friends for a wine tasting & dinner. read more

Pretty location all wines were not available for tasting. The menu is rich in choices but portions are small and the price point is high for what you get. In short a good way to enjoy a spot with friends. read more

Farm fresh food for lunch and a beautiful vineyard. Mac n cheese with fresh salad. Service was friendly and attentive. Everyone at the table enjoyed their meals. After lunch we went for wine tasting. Having already done another earlier I was able to compare. The tasting here cost more for less. 5 wines this time and portions were smaller. If I come back it will be for the food and a glass of wine but not the taste. read more

Really delicious I think the best fries and burger I have ever had. But the Brussel sprout dish was strange and the salad was actually kinda bad. The wine is delicious and packs a punch! Will definitely go again read more

We went for a late dinner Sunday evening. The Vineyard is very dark at night, one small pole lamp outside the building is all that is there - so bring a flash light (or iPhone with light capability) to walk in from the parking lot. We sat at an elevated table in an alcove, very cozy and warm inside. We had burgers (medium rare and medium well) which were cooked perfectly. Waitress Carianne was very attentive and food was served in a timely fashion. We ordered a bottle of the Estate Chardonnay which was very good, but I wish they offered a way to keep it cold as it warmed to room temperature quickly after our first glass. Never had a bad meal here. Would definitely return. read more

My husband and I were married at Chamard in 2012. We actually had our rehearsal dinner in the bistro before it opened. The burger is awesome! In my opinion, the fries here are the best in CT! I dream about them! Great spot! read more

This place was great. Jenna was a fantastic server, even took my mother and I downstairs to show us a function room after lunch. She was knowledgable about the food and wine. The building is beautiful, food was delicious. Even on a snowy afternoon it was a gorgeous view. read more

Joined another couple here on Saturday night before heading up to the Fleetwood Mac concert at Mohegan Sun. This is a very charming and romantic place. We arrived a bit early and had some good red wine (Chliean, not from on-property) in their tasting room where a fantastic jazz guitar duo were playing. When we were seated the apps and main courses were all fantastic. We had the short ribs and a rack of lamb special. Very good indeed. The French onion soup and crab cakes were also fab. The waiter was also very pleasant and helped us get along to the show on-time. Can't wait to go back during the warmer weather and tour the grounds. read more

The burger is to die for. A bit pricey, but a great place to take visitors or have a nice small brunch or event.

On June 22nd we celebrated our 50th Wedding Anniversary and 70th Birthdays with a surprise party for my wife at this beautiful venue for a little over 100 people with a Mama Mia theme. Our eldest daughter did all the heavy lifting - She met with Amy to organize the space, menu, wine list and she was able to book a band - Dancing Dream an Abba Tribute Band to make the theme official. Kathy took over for vacationing Amy assisting us during the final stages - she was incredible. Kathy even took part in helping to keep it a surprise when we arrived. Amy, The entire Staff who participated, the Chef, Kathy could not have done anymore to make this day any better. PS: I did catch Kathy dancing to the music. Thank you to everyone. read more

We arrived early to sample some wines. The wine and music, in the tasting room, was just what we were hoping for. Great selection, help picking out wine, friendly wait staff, nice music. The bistro section seemed stretched. Although we were there at 5:30 for a 7:00 booking, they could not find us a table until 7:25. Unfortunately, cannot comment on food because we left at 7:20 in search of food......it looked good on plates we saw coming out of the kitchen. We were sorry to miss out, but did not want to wait. read more

I recently went to the Bistro..Which I have been several times before and the food was amazing,. I went with three of my closest girlfriends after a wine glass painting event held at the vineyard. Three of us order the cod special which was supposed to be stuffed with crabmeat..There was very little.. Our meals were cold!..My other girlfiend order the gnocci which she ate as we sent our three meals back to be warmed up..Which took about 15 to 20 minutes before we got them back. I think if your going to charge 28.00 to 30.00 a meal it should be hot and worth the $$..I am in no hurry to return! read more

The wine was great as well, I rly enjoyed their white. Would definitely recommend! read more

CT HAS A NEW GASTRONOMIC RESTAURANT!! Last weekend, my family and I went to Chamard Estates to try their newly opened restaurant, 'The Bistro at Chamard'. I am a fine food enthusiast and was pleasantly surprised at the quality and presentation of the food we were all served. The steak I ordered was cooked to perfection, and the Chilean Syrah, a great wine, was a perfect compliment. Some of the group opted for a simple burger - the fries, alone, are worth the trip (they are served "French Cornet Style") - and they did not disappoint. My wife who had salmon, still raves about it. I also liked the semi-open kitchen concept where you can see the the Chef and team working on your meal. The oversized farm table, where we all sat in the rear overlooks the vines and was the perfect space for our group. We can't wait to go again to enjoy another magical experience. From the quality food & wine, to the gorgeous estate and grounds, 'The Bistro at Chamard' is the setting for a wonderful adventure. read more

In the midst of a driving rain storm, a friend visiting from Massachusetts and I stopped in for a hot cup of tea and a desert. When we asked the young hostess and waitress if this was possible, they did not seem to appreciate our not wanting to dine in full, even though the place was virtually empty. The waitress promised to bring water, but it never appeared nor did knapkins. It appeared the two young women were more interested in chatting with one another rather than making us feel welcome. The exception was the wine steward, Michael, who greeted us with much cheer and good will. His happy presence and the inviting decor enable me to rate Chamard with 2 stars-otherwise, the experience was dissappointing; not sure we want to visit there again in the near future. PS we both being non-drinkers, did not sample the wine, but the selections appeared to be of wide variety one would expect no less of a winery. George Egan - long time Madison resident. read more

This place is gorgeous - you are in another country; the food is delicious - carefully prepared and served - the waitstaff is attentive and cheerful - the wines are very, very good, maybe not superior, but very good. I love it here and will return. (I wish they would add some beer to the menu). read more
