These sunken bottle holders are thoughtful. If you are sitting across from guests you can see them.

What a nice treat in a sea of fried clams and lobster rolls!! An excellent selection of traditional French cuisine using local ingredients paired with local wines. The 19 Chard was very good. Enjoy!

This is a great place. We stumbled across this place somewhat accidentally and were pleasantly surprised. We were able to get a seat overlooking the vineyard and it was incredible. Our bread was hot from the oven. The muscles were plump and juicy. My Crocque Madame was amazing, with a perfectly cooked egg and great ham. and were pleasantly surprised.

Cappuccino and pot de creme - both very good!

This might be one of my more frequented restaurants, especially for a nice lunch. I always get the Madame croquet, because where else can you get it?? It's been consistent over the last ~6 years which is a huge testament to the kitchen. I love being able to see the kitchen. Service is always good. Can't wait for the stone cold red to return to the menu. Love checking out the art on display, as it changes just about every time we come.

Grass fed burger minus the bun, $18
Paula E.

Last Saturday, I sat in the tasting room section, but ordered from the bistro. The tasting room is nice, but kind of a tight fit. There was live music (man with guitar), and that was really nice - especially being in front of a fireplace. Food: my friend and I both ordered the grass fed burger. I asked it be served without the bun. The portion was perfect, and the food was tasty - especially the fries and both sauces. The burger was $18, and based on the quality of the food and the portions, it was worth it. Downside: we each ordered a glass of the same wine. When we received our bill, each glass was $12! Way overpriced, in my opinion - we would've prefered to just order one whole bottle - I wish the waiter would've suggested it. Overall, I would visit and order food from the bistro again! The deck and outdoor ambiance are amazing (weather permitting)

Charming place for lunch! This was our best lunch ever! Kayla our server was fantastic! She was very helpful and kind. I enjoyed a flight of wine, which was 3 2 ounce pours of your choice!! We started with the Camembert en croute. Life changing pastry with melted cheese and sliced apples with a caramel sauce. The croque madame and chicken cordon blu was served hot and delicious! I would definitely return, and recommend this great place!

Raspberry dessert

Saturday late lunch venue. Great place! Refreshments: Had the tasting wine flight - any 3 glasses from wine menu. Very good option as you try 3 different wines for $15. Food: had the salad to start, friend had the Camembert which was actually a whole wheel of cheese covered in pastry, far too much to eat as came with baguette too! I had the chicken which was delicious. Gnocchi also good. We didn't need it but had dessert. The raspberry cake was not too sweet. A lovely walk after lunch around the grounds. Would def recommend this place for a lazy weekend lunch!

We went there for brunch on a way home and were very surprised of the high end quality of food. Service is good but slow. Duck dish was amazing. We will be back.

Should I make a reservation for a Tuesday evening, or is it safe to assume it won't be too busy?

I think they have trivia that night so I would make a reservation just in case :)

Completely unique, it was a place where you could stop in for a light meal prepared by a world-class chef in a lovely historically significant building. With many regular customers returning weekly, Cocotte was a meeting place, a community, a casual yet special restaurant to meet old friends, to make new ones, and to enjoy a chat with Chef. The food was exceptional, prepared with an intolerance for anything less than the highest of standards, with an abiding and generous love for delicious cuisine. Nowhere else on the shoreline will one find tartiflette, escargot, and raclette together on the menu alongside delicious cocottes, omelettes, and perfect French salads, to be followed by a gorgeous selection of desserts. The finest French teas, lavender lemonade, robust New Orleans coffee, and gelato in flavors like blood orange or amaretto cherry. The chef and his wife sought to offer a place that was unique and special to the region, including traditional French pantry items, cook's tools, and other beautiful merchandise. Several customers were known to travel from afar for their almond croissants. Local residents will be hard-pressed to find such a place with its relaxed atmosphere, paying homage to its history, appreciating its original lovely antique architectural details, where the diner would never be rushed, in a world where most of our dining choices value the bottom line far more than relationships and a traditional dining experience. It is these very special characteristics that made Cocotte completely beloved and valued by its discerning and cultured clientele, who packed into the restaurant during its last weeks, wanting to experience Cocotte for one last time, express their appreciation, and to say goodbye. 323 Main Street, with so many lives and histories held within your time-worn, dignified and softly age-mellowed walls, surely the story of Cocotte will be one of your favorite memories.

First off can we talk about the bones of the place. The Taft building which once was a hotel now sits and houses a very charming French restaurant with a chef who could care less who you are or if your camera is permanently to your hand. I sat at the bar and the chef seated me. I opted out for their three course pre fix bar menu. Chef and owner Vincent who had trained under ICONS in the culinary world met me with this good old fashion old school attitude that today's foodie influencers could never understand. Serious poised stern energy that I love so much about old world cooking boh lore. The food was great. The playlist was upbeat, the kitchen had energy. This place should be the hardest reservation to get in New Haven.

We returned for Father's Day and we were seated immediately without a reservation, though I think we just got lucky so I don't recommend this. We all shared the warm olives, the croquet poulet sandwich, the fries, the quiche lorraine, the chateubriand, the roasted beets, and the strawberry ice cream. It was all a hit, and when a 3.5-year-old and a 22-month-old are enjoying your food without any coaxing or help, you know it's fabulous! My husband got some cocktail and I got the phony Negroni mocktail. Service was great and the atmosphere is chic without being uptight or snobby at all. We all left really happy. I still dream about that sandwich. I'd love to go back and try other things on the menu. I'm sure they knock everything out of the park. I am hoping Le Mazet will be our special occasion restaurant.

My daughter was eating so much of this steak and so were we! It was sooo tender and we loved the gravy on top. The fries were amazing and when they were drenched in that gravy it was chefs kiss! What really brought it all the together was the salad paired with it- it was light and refreshing and the dressing was so good! For dessert our server suggested the chocolate custard so we got that and a berry handpie. We ate both and kept saying "oh my god" with each bite. My daughter especially loved the chocolate custard but my husband and I loved both equally! We immediately said after our meal how we have to come back. We cannot wait to try other menu items and their cocktails next time. We are huge fans and will definitely be back!!

Restaurant That Feels Like Family…read more My family and friends always visit this restaurant at least two or three times a year when we travel to the East End of Long Island, and every visit is a pleasure. This time, we ordered the Red Rooster salad, the Shopska salad, and the beet salad. For our main courses, we enjoyed the Chicken Valdostana and their signature dish, Maple Leaf Farms Duck. What makes this restaurant truly special is not only the food but also the warmth and hospitality of the family who runs it. The owner has Bulgarian-American heritage, and his wife and son, Christopher, always make us feel welcome. Christopher deserves special recognition. Whether he is working behind the bar as a bartender or serving guests as a waiter, he always takes the time to talk with us. We genuinely enjoy our conversations with him, and his friendly, personal approach makes every visit feel special. The hospitality is sincere, and we never feel like just another customer. Instead, we feel as though we are visiting friends and are welcomed as part of their family. It is rare to find a restaurant where the people make you feel so comfortable and at home. This family creates a warm, inviting atmosphere that keeps us coming back year after year. We highly recommend this restaurant to anyone looking for delicious food, wonderful hospitality, and a place where guests are treated like family. We always look forward to returning!

I've had a lot of clam chowder over the years, and the only bowl that beats this one is from Legal Seafoods in Boston. That's saying a lot. The staff was warm and attentive throughout, and our waitress Erica was wonderful, friendly, quick, and clearly knew the menu well. Only note: prices run a bit steep. We stuck to water/appetizers and still walked away with a solid bill for two chowders, one order of seafood cakes, and one order of pork pate. But between the food, the decor, and the overall ambiance, it was very nice experience. Highly recommend.
