    Dry potatoes

Took my mother and grandmother here a few weeks ago. We wanted to go early just to beat the dinner crowd. I hate to say we had a bad experience. We were the only table there and it still took a while to get food and the check. The potatoes were dry and stale as if they were cooked the day before. The sausage was dry as well. When we asked for a take home box to be polite, they couldn't find any container. Wished it was better but unfortunately not.

I'm a huge fan of this cute little fondue spot on Whitney Ave! Between 5 and 7 they have happy hour - $6 portions of raclette and $6 wine. We also got the fondue with shallots which was more flavorful than I expected - it was delicious! The place itself is adorable - a classic wooden chalet with only 7 or 8 tables and a really intimate, candle lit setting!

I took my daughter out to dinner tonight. We ordered one of their grilled cheese sandwiches. We liked it very much. The great thing was we were able to park at my daughter school and walk over. It was a lot of cheese for us. I am hoping that I feel good tomorrow. i want to mention that we were the only patrons in the restaurant the entire time we were there.

This is a great date spot. I would give this 4 1/2 stars but since I can't pick a half star, will round up to five because generally has been a great experience each time. The place is beautifully decorated and has very nice management. It has a very authentic Swiss feel (we actually went to Switzerland recently and tried fondue there and it was a very similar experience.) The cheese fondue is absolutely amazing. We also can't resist getting the single portion of raclette (which is hot melted cheese scraped onto something-- we did potatoes and bread). If they had chocolate fondue we'd probably be here every week!

YES! Adil has done it again! What an awesome spot to have as a part of our community. I almost don't want to write a review, because people don't seem to have discovered Au Chalet yet, but I can't help it. It's so damn good. You'll have a choice between a small variety of dishes. Trust me-- you're not here for variety. You're here for a tried and true methodology for delivering cheese to your belly in the most delicious possible way. You can choose between a cheese fondue pot, or raclette style fondue. Raclette is the specialty. It's a type of Swiss cheese and they slice a wheel of it in half, warm the cut side, and scrape the melty part of the cheese into your plate in one big gooey blop. Mmmmmmmmmmm. The food is incredible and the service is excellent. The ambiance is that of a cozy alpine chalet. I can't wait to come here in the winter (but have no qualms about coming in the peak of summer, to be clear!) As with the creperie next door, you're here to enjoy. This is not a quick stop, and you won't be rushed by the waitstaff at all. I work one block away from here and... oh man. I'm going to get so fat.

Great, intimate date spot (warm wooden interior that feels like a mini ski lodge), yet somewhat overpriced in our opinion. Between a 3 and a 4, but giving it a 4 for originality in NHV and potential. The food was very nice but didn't absolutely blow us away--the bratwurst platter=nicely cooked potatoes, a bratwurst, a couple gherkins, and a mini onion, with a standard warm raclette over the top. Wine didn't leave me with a good impression. Worth checking out for an awesome happy hour deal or for a romantic date.

    Fondue!

Swiss-inspired cheese restaurant that opened in May 2017. Cozy interior reminiscent of a Swiss ski lodge. Nice wine pairings (mostly French and Austrian), tasty fondue and raclette, elegant European music. Right next door to Crepes Choupette (operated by the same owner).

    Yay!

When someone finally acknowledged us, we were just told to "wait." Ten minutes later, we checked in again, only to be told that our table was still occupied, with no real update or apology. Trying to make the best of it, we went to the bar to order a drink while we waited, but the bartender responded with an attitude and told us "the host will be with you soon" -- which had nothing to do with the fact that we were simply trying to get a drink while we stood there waiting. It was an unnecessary brush-off. We were finally seated over 30 minutes after our reservation, and placed our full order right away, hoping to make up for lost time. But then the cheese board took another 30 minutes to arrive. When we asked, we were told there was some kind of miscommunication -- again, no real ownership or urgency. Then came the main course. I ordered the bavette steak medium rare, but what I got was clearly rare and chewy, as the photo shows. When I mentioned it, the waitress did say it looked maybe on the rare side to her but also that Bavette can come out like that looking red - but Undercooked and poorly prepared is not a feature of the cut. We didn't want to wait longer so just ate some. To be fair, our waitress was kind and acknowledged the issues, but it was one of the most frustrating "high-end" dining experiences I've had. At these prices and with this reputation, you expect better service, better pacing, and food cooked properly. Instead, it felt like we were an afterthought the entire night.

Unfortunately, the service didn't match the quality of the kitchen. At one point, I noticed servers handling bread with their hands and then bringing out food without washing them, which was honestly unpleasant to see while sitting at my table. It made the overall experience feel less comfortable than it should have been. I'd still come back for the food, but I really hope the service and hygiene standards improve.

We were seated by the window and were given freshly baked bread. We ordered the French classics: mussels, escargot, duck leg confit, and steak and fries. The mussels came out first and were pretty average. I usually like sipping the wine broth it comes with or dipping fries/bread into the broth. The escargot had plenty of oil and seasoning. It was actually too salty even though my coworker requested less salt on everything. I enjoyed dipping the fresh bread into the oil. Lastly came the entrees. I was a bit disappointed in both of them. The hanger steak was cooked medium rare like I wanted but the texture was not great. I was hoping for a more tender cut and this was a bit tough and lean. The frites were cooked well and very crispy. The duck confit was very tender but I didn't think it was amazing. Overall I don't think I will be returning to this restaurant with so many other great options around. I might be biased as I am not too familiar with French cuisine but we already sampled most of the classics already.

We found a charming and lovely restaurant with delightful French cooking. The deal really can't be beat. The small buffet area was ample both with options and flavor! She asked if we wanted a salad and choice of soups that they had for the day. They were brought out from the kitchen with a basket of rolls. We chose the creme of leeks soup. So warm and comforting! On the buffet: Turkey meatballs Chicken Dijon sauce Mussels & Clams Garlic sauce Also some sliced and cubed cheese were out on the buffet. For dessert they had small portions of bread pudding to help yourself to. We ate until we could eat no more! Marie was very kind and attentive. We were not rushed at all. We had a relaxing and pleasant lunch date. Honestly, if they were closer than us, I'd be there all the time. Maybe for dinner the next time! I ordered UberEats from them before and was blown away by the tremendous offerings and generous portions. I decided to dine in and it was even better! The restaurant is located on the busy Northern Blvd between Morgan and Glenwood. The inside has a 19th century French ambiance, decorated with French posters, carpeted floors and a cozy warm dining area. Don't worry about the never ending traffic noise, commotion , and construction coming from outside. The calm and peaceful ambiance along with the music playing in the restaurant canceled out all the exterior noise. I opted in for their lunch buffet, which offered a ton of food for an amazing $18.95 deal which you can hardly find in this day and age. The restaurant gave a nice basket of warm bread with a generous amount of butter in a ramekin followed by a really good Tunisian salad with a little bit of everything. (fresh greens, cooked carrots, chickpea salad, diced cucumbers peppers and their take on the Ratatouille-- really good) I was given the option of getting their daily soup or the French Onion Soup with an up charge. I took the French option soup without any hesitation. Last time I had a good French onion soup was back when I attended college in upstate. Glad I got to try the one from here. The onion soup has an abundance of flavor with a generous amount of melted cheese and onions. The buffet selections were at the table. It came with two entrees (a chicken and a beef) cooked vegetables, mussels, mixed rice, cheese selection and slices bread cake. The entrees vary each day so be sure to call in and check. The chicken was moist, and juicy, served with a mushroom gravy. Similar to a Chicken Marsala dish. The stewed beef with mushrooms was nice and soft. The veggies included carrots and onions. The mussels were cooked to perfection, simmered in a nice buttery sauce. The meal also includes a cup of coffee or tea. What a great way to finish the meal. Marie was super nice and friendly. She gave me some insights on the food and the different menus they have on different days. A great establishment going strong for 47 years! Thank you Marie for everything. I will definitely be returning with my family.
