Soup of the day and Ham and Cheese Sandwich
    Claudia D.

This is a cute, old school looking bistro on Main Street. We came in for lunch during the week, so it was quiet. The service was okay, not too friendly. We ordered the soup of the day (leek), which was delicious and flavorful. We also ordered the ham and cheese sandwich on a baguette with butter and a side salad, which was very good! Although we didn't stay for more, we would definitely come back for another quick bite.

Had a lovely lunch with friends. Two of us were familiar with the NYC restaurant. We were greeted warmly by a charming man with a French accent, and seated quickly. Lunch was wonderful! S. loved the escargot, and received extra bread when she asked. R had the pissaladière, and thoroughly enjoyed it. My croque Monsieur was eggy and decadent, and the stone-ground mustard vinaigrette on my salad was delicious! It was actually a light lunch. There isn't much ham or cheese in the sandwich. R's pizza, though, was LOADED with onions. I was almost sorry that I hadn't ordered it.

I have often admired the ambience of Demarchelier Bistro when passing by, and we finally decided to go for a late dinner on a quiet/rainy evening. It's worth mentioning that are open (as of summer 2023) 7 days and stay open later than many of the other restaurants in Greenport. We sat outside and the hostess and server were kind and welcoming, including to our dog. There are a few outdoor tables for two that are sheltered from the rain, another rarity in the area. With the small marble tables and bistro chairs, it is like sitting in front of a cafe in Paris, only without the constant barrage of cigarette smoke- hooray! We had the roasted half chicken and the coq au vin (the latter being a special). Both were quite nice, with the chicken being moist and tender in both cases. (They must have a good chicken supplier, methinks.) I particularly loved the gravy on the roasted chicken, which was peppery and contained morels. While the price point is a bit high to be an everyday casual neighborhood dining spot for me, we'll definitely be back from time to time. I can see this simple, high-quality French comfort food becoming even more appealing as the weather cools.

I enjoyed this French restaurant. The hostess had the best French accent and was very attentive. The salad was very fresh and tasty. My short rib sandwich was worth every bite. Located on the main street in Greenport, you can eat and then continue shopping or enjoy the town. I will go back for more! Enjoy!

Decent lunch menu. Variation and ok service would go again for dinner. Ok, prices are near empty post lunch and pre dinner time.

The best new Bistro on the North Fork is open and ready for your support ! Demarchelier was for over 25 years the go to French family owned bistro on the Upper East Side on Madison Avenue. In late 2019 the family closed the restaurant and sought to find a new home to write the next chapter in their story. Emily Demarchelier found the idea location in Greenport to bring the family style of classic French cuisine to their loyal following. The location is light in daytime and has a cozy Feel making a meal feel more like dining at a family home. The menu is written on a chalk board Visible from all sides of the room.

The hostess, who had already ignored me when I walked in and didn't bother to greet me, suddenly approached me mid-meal to ask if I had a reservation. I said no, and he replied, "no problem," then walked away. A few minutes later, when I came back from the restroom, the bartender told me I needed to leave because they had too many bar reservations. Not once when I sat down, ordered, or started my meal was I asked about a reservation or told the seat was reserved. For a restaurant with this caliber of pricing, it's unacceptable to let someone order a full meal and then essentially kick them out before they've finished it. This isn't my first time here -- and both times, the same host has been rude, unwelcoming, and dismissive, never acknowledging me on arrival or departure. For the money spent here, the service is shockingly poor, and frankly, very disappointing.

My husband and I came in around 6 pm on a Sunday evening for dinner (booked ahead of time) and the place was pretty empty. We were seated right away and our server was great, super friendly and helpful with what to order. There are a ton of specials off the menu which sounded amazing, so we both ordered two specials with Hake (~$46 each). Both were delicious, fresh and innovative takes on fish. I wish they had more of the specials listed because it was hard for us to keep them all straight. I started with the fondue for one which was tasty and fun but I would have preferred if it also came with cornichons and that the potatoes weren't fried (it was really heavy and oily with cheese and fried potatoes). Drinks were pretty weak for $26, and the bartender actually forgot to add champagne to one of our French 75s, lol. He did remedy it, though. We split the ice cream sandwich for dessert which was a little strange but tasty. All in all the food was very flavorful but at the price point I probably wouldn't come back. I guess you can get away with that in the Hamptons, even in the off season!
