I recently went to Chadwick's for a celebration dinner with a group of friends. A few days beforehand, I called and made a reservation for five people, which was confirmed over the phone. One person had to cancel last minute, so it ended up being a party of four. I acknowledge that I forgot to call and update the reservation, my mistake completely! When we arrived for our early reservation, the host immediately said, "We've been trying to call you for the past two days to confirm your reservation, and you didn't answer." I was confused, as I hadn't received any calls, and even pulled up my phone log to show him. He explained that they require confirmation to hold reservations. I apologized and said I understood, though I genuinely had not received a call. He then read my phone number out loud and discovered they had written down the last digit incorrectly, which explains why I never received the confirmation call. Despite that being their error, he then pointed out that I had only four people instead of five and told me I should have notified them. I apologized again. His tone, however, was unnecessarily harsh and condescending, far from customer-friendly. I want to emphasize that the restaurant was empty when we arrived, and by the time we left, there were still at least four open and unused tables. That's why the empty dining room is relevant. It was clear there was no issue accommodating us, which made the initial interaction and rude tone feel even more unnecessary. He said he would look for a table, called us over, changed his mind, then called us again. When we were finally seated, he even instructed each person where to sit. The whole interaction felt as though we were children being told off rather than guests out for a special evening. To be clear, the food was excellent, every dish was thoroughly enjoyed. The wait staff rotated frequently, which was a bit confusing at times, but overall they were pleasant and attentive. It's disappointing that the very first interaction, the host, set such an unwelcoming tone, especially since my group planned to splurge and enjoy a great night out. I live in the area and had hoped Chadwick's would become a regular spot for a good steak, but this experience made it hard to feel comfortable walking in. read more

I visited this steakhouse in December for a birthday celebration. The service was good--nothing extraordinary, but in line with what one would expect from a traditional steakhouse. We ordered the porterhouse for two, requesting it medium-rare. Unfortunately, it arrived more well-done than expected and was not served hot, but rather at room temperature. Given that this is their most expensive steak, I anticipated it being sizzling and served at the ideal temperature. The highlight of the meal was the linguine with clam sauce, which had great flavor, though it leaned on the salty side. However, when we requested it to go, it somehow didn't make it into our bag, which was disappointing. The wine list was decent, and while dessert was fine, it wasn't particularly memorable. Just moved out to the neighborhood and have been asking around for restaurant recommendations and pretty much everyone mentioned I should try Chadwick's. Went in with my girl over the weekend and we were both blown away! People had told me it was a classic Brooklyn spot, but what we got was far more than that. The serving staff were knowledgeable about the food and made us feel right at home and the food itself was incredible. We had the octopus and scallops to start, which were some of the best seafood I've had anywhere... Scallops perfectly seared, octopus I can't even describe how good it was. For our entrées I had the steak which was char grilled with hickory molasses and home fries, spinach (way better than Peter Lugers IMHO) and my girl had the trout with red beans and escarole. All I can say is these people know how to cook! Safe to say we found our new favorite spot. read more

If you are looking for a wonderful experience, go to Chadwick's. They have the formula for a superlartive experience perfected!!! This is my favorite restaurant. The food rocks, the service is superlative, the ambience is excellent. The prices are resonable, expecially for this level of dining in NYC. They have a pre-theater special that makes a fine dining experience affordable. The bar is friendly and the staff is great. If you don't mind going of special, the pisachio encrusted lamb is to die for!! The only thing I would love to see different, although it really isn't possible with the architecture, is that the restaurant could a little less noisey when they have a full house. But I don't think there is much they can do about that...smiling. Oh, and although all the waiters are terrific, my favorite is Brian. read more

Where is the 6 star button? I've been to Chadwick's many times. The food and service is always excellent. There are always a lot of elderly people (it's a good sign. They might been eating there for many years) I must order pan seared scallops every time when I go there. Crab cake lumps is also very good. They have per-fix many Monday thru Thursday. It comes with soup/appetizer, entree, dessert and tea/coffee for $25. The two items that I mentioned above is not in this menu. I heard their steak is really good too. I am going to try it next week. My husband is a small eater so I can never order steak if I go there with him only. I am going with few more people so I can order it next week. Bay ridge is a busy area. It's hard to find parking on the weekends but they have valet parking too. read more

Absolutely wonderful restaurant with even better staff and owners. I had an interesting experience of meeting the owner of this restaurant organically out in public with no idea he was a restaurant owner. I told him I was visiting New York for the weekend and he gave me his number and invited me to eat at his restaurant. I brought my family and we were all so impressed with how polite and professional the staff were. The food was absolutely amazing and fresh. I enjoyed eating the pork chop and had no complaints. So this is hands down, our favorite spot in Brooklyn. The waiters are all incredible. The host is wonderful. The bartenders are very talented. But my hat has to go off to the chefs... Every single thing we have ever gotten from here was better than the last. Make sure to wait for the specials because you won't want to miss out! The beef Wellington is incredible. Chadwick's is an excellent place to take someone for dinner in the neighborhood. It is an upscale looking place with standard American fare. This is not the place to go if you prefer a loud and trendy restaurant. On the contrary, this place is subdued and subtle. The wait staff is knowledgeable and has not expertise of the menu. This is a neighborhood staple!!! The food is delicious, if you haven't been a must try. Bayridge is known for their restaurants but this restaurant stands out. I would have to stay that the Porter house is my favorite!!! It's 48 Oz of mouth watering meat. The signature restaurant has other great dishes and appetizers. Came here for a birthday dinner was superb . My husband loved it . Mo was our waiter and made sure all the stops where pulled felt like I was in a movie. The steak was cooked perfect and the spinach was delicious . Paired with perfect bottle of red that he suggested was by far one of the best experiences I have had. Excellent steakhouse in the heart of Bay Ridge. When you walk in you immediately know you're going to have a great meal, and they do not disapoint. The shell steak is amazing and their scallops are to die for. Drinks are free poured and freebies often offered. An excellent choice for a romantic date or a family dinner out. read more

I heard this place has been around for over 25 years so they must be doing something right and indeed they are. the decor has an old world feel but is very elegant and soothing, service was attentive and my wife and i both enjoyed the food very much.
