THE FOOD AT CHACE'S IS TRUE PERFECTION!

Yelpers... Chace's Cafe is Pittsburgh's biggest secret. If I lived in PGH, I would host weekly breakfasts and business meetings here. This is a small cafe with massive flavors. Consider yourself informed. Don't say I never gave you anything. You're welcome.

Visiting my hometown area of Pittsburgh this week - and I'm staying near Station Square. I wanted a more "neighborhood" breakfast experience instead of your typical hotel or large restaurant spot, and I found Chace's Cafe' on East Carson Street on the South Side. And I got exactly what I wanted. When you walk into this restaurant, it is as down-home as you can get. Appears to be a one-man show, and this man does it well -- and with pride. Rightfully so! It was enjoyable, sitting at the table and watching clients come in, many familiar to him. Such a comfortable neighborhood vibe. Jazz music, playing, everything you need at your table. I ordered an omelette with hashbrowns, my daughter ordered eggs and sausage with hashbrowns. Our host navigated the bustle of clients coming in for take out and dine in, while making sure we have everything we needed and cooking our breakfast to perfection. My omelette had fresh spinach, bacon, and cheddar. As you can see in the photo, it was presented in an extremely appetizing way. The hashbrowns had a nice seasoning. Although you could call this "diner food", it was not greasy. Ingredients were of quality. If you would like to have a breakfast experience where you feel welcome and at home, while being served delicious food efficiently, treated with kindness, Chace's Cafe' is your spot.

If you like the vibe of jazz, culture, history, nostalgia & great food look no further.... The diner nestled on a corner on the Southside is a perfect hidden treasure. The service is amazing, the recommendations are carefully crafted, & the joy you have after a few minutes of sampling will continuously bring you back for a seat at the counter. The owner is so friendly & gracious....makes you feel like an old family friend.

This restaurant may be small, less than 20 seats, but the food is mighty! I am visiting Pittsburgh for the weekend and looked on Yelp to see what was good to eat around my hotel. As I looked, I saw this was Black owned, and the reviews were wonderful. Well, the food was delicious and the service was great. I ordered fish and grits with scrambled eggs and whole wheat toast. They even had squeeze butter for my toast! I loved the intimate vibe, and the music was a throwback to the last century, that is, 1970s and '80's music that added to the great ambiance. There was a constant stream of people coming in and out. A few stayed and ate, but most got food to go. All I want to say is that this spot was pretty on and poppin'. This is definitely a restaurant that I will visit again!

Breakfast sandwich on a bagel with home fries, peppers and onions + a delicious strawberry!

We have driven by this place countless times and have always said, "we have to check that place out!". Well, today was the day. Pete greeted us, cooked for us, served us, small chatted with us. An immediate friend, a good human! It said closed on Mondays but it's Monday and they were open! So stop by just in case, even if it says closed. Food was 10/10. We got the breakfast sandwich on white bread as well as on a bagel, both with home fries. I'm not even usually a bacon or pepper kind girl, but today my mind and my taste buds were changed. I can't wait to go back and try more! Thanks Pete!

Cake from Seattle, found this place for breakfast time. Great Service! Food was AMAZING!! Got the Breakfast Meal, it was freshly made right when ordered, very attentive and on top of pour, friendly with great customer service! I will come back when I return for a future visit. Thank you for your delicious food!

Quintessential Pittsburgh neighborhood vibes! Pete is very friendly and even when he's running it as a one-man show, food comes out quick. We got the sausage breakfast sandwich, side of pancakes, and a build-your-own omelette. Everything was great!

Scrambled eggs with cheese, turkey sausage, homefries with onions and green peppers, wheat toast.

A quaint diner tucked away on Pittsburgh's Southside but very worth the visit. When you enter the space you are immediately greeted by the smiling owner Pete. He always offers great conversation in addition to the great food. During my last visit I had the Pete's Rise and Shine breakfast. The meal was meat of your choice, eggs your way, a choice of homefries hash browns or grits and your choice of toast. The meal is a very decent size. The food is also delicious. The homefries were my favorite. They were perfectly seasoned and cooked. Beverages are all bottled with the exception of tea and coffee. The only downsize is that the space is extremely small. Seating is very close together. I'm a plus size woman and had I not been sitting with family during my different visits I would have felt a little uncomfortable. I did notice though that during this visit there is now outside seating available that offers a little more space. Seating aside would that deter me from retiring. Absolutely not because the food is that good. If you want a cook home style breakfast meal visit Gabriela's.

General Manager Sharon and Assistant Manager Kelsey were incredibly friendly, welcoming, and genuinely seemed excited to help. The owner Len was EXTREMELY responsive to my email & text inquiries (which honestly is rare these days.) As a small business owner myself, I notice and appreciate that kind of effort immediately!! This place is absolutely underrated. Between the amazing staff, the aesthetic Instagram/TikTok worthy storefront, and food & drinks that are ACTUALLY delicious (because sometimes places only nail one or the other ), they've got the full package! Plenty of seating inside & out. clean bathrooms, self-service kiosks but they also have a register if you are lazy like me. Parking can be a little challenging, but there are several nearby garages that make it manageable. 10/10 experience. So grateful we got the chance to try smashed waffles. Everything from the sandwiches to the scones to the sweets were tasty. They weren't the fanciest I've experienced at afternoon tea but they were good! That being said, they advertise it as high tea which is NOT correct. That's an entirely different thing (more of a supper) and is not interchangeable with "afternoon tea." What they have here is afternoon tea and I wish they would advertise it as such. Aside from that pet peeve of mine, using the wrong terminology, it's a nice spot and I would recommend it if you're in the area.

The chicken salad stuffed gouger was divine. The scones were the best I've had. Crunchy on the outside, while warm and fluffy in the middle. I could have eaten ten of the cinnamon scones. Excellent cheesecake and cream puff. The star of the show was chocolate mousse on a pecan crust. Just yum!!! Phenomenal service, tea, and food made for a wonderful afternoon high tea!! In truth,…read moreit's such a favorite of mine that I headed there straight from the airport on my most recent visit. The cool vibe restaurant is tucked away up a short flight of stairs on Filbert Street. It gives the place a cozy, hideaway feel with brick walls and murals. It's pretty popular, so you might have to wait a few minutes for a table, but it moves pretty quick. The menu focuses heavily on crepes and French toast, and they do both very well. I went for a savory crepe that was loaded with eggs and topped with a rich sauce and diced vegetables. It came with a side of fresh fruit which was a nice touch. We also ordered a sweet crepe to share. It was beautifully presented with chocolate drizzle, berry sauce, and a massive pile of whipped cream. The coffee is solid too. Verdict: This is a consistent and reliable brunch spot. It was the perfect way to kick off my trip. I will definitely be back next time I am in town.

But the star of the show for me is the Shakshouka. I have gotten it the last 2 times I went. You also have to try their Dirty Chai. My only critique is the hostess at the front. She appeared overwhelmed by her role and was not warm. We were actually told by the waiters that "she is serious about her list". Which would be great if she managed it effectively. When I brought concerns that we had been pushed down the list 3 times for other parties. She responded "well, how do you know that" to which I responded "we watched you take their names down after ours and sit them before us". Her response was to shoo me off and tell me to go find a table myself; to which I did. But what a poor way to manage your stress, responsibility, and consumers. On the bright side my waiter/waitress was awesome per usual.
