Met up friend a friend for dinner and drinks on a Wednesday night at Cha Cha's. When we arrived for our 7:30pm reservation, we were promptly seated in the outdoor patio. Our server came to introduce herself shortly after. After looking at the menu, we put our drink orders in. Word of caution, drinks have a generous pour! It was a one and done kind of night. Chips and salsa were brought out, and it took all the power I have to not go through the entire basket before ordering my dinner! Food: I ordered the chicken enchiladas (50% off!) with a side of sour cream (additional $3.50!!). Chicken was plentiful and everything was really good. Tonight I stayed away from seafood and mixed-match had the carnitas, chicken and short rib taco. It was good. One thing I don't like about this place is it's too loud. Crispy Calamari and Shrimp ($16): 5/10, not that much actual calamari and shrimp on the plate. There were some fried chiles, onion, and I believe zucchini. So, portions of actual calamari may be slightly deceiving. The side sauces were pretty good! Chaquitos ($16): 7/10, decent appetizers, basically smaller version of taquitos/flautas Three Enchiladas Combination ($26): 8/10, yummm yum yum! We went the Saturday before Mother's Day and the service was awful to say the least. We made a reservation but still had to stand and wait for 40 minutes before getting seated...what is the point of a reservation at that point?? They were severely understaffed which is unacceptable for Mother's Day weekend which is also a popular weekend for celebrating graduates. There were many empty tables, but we had to wait extra long because of how understaffed they were. Our server worked very hard and was definitely hustling but he had an impossible task. We only saw him for ordering appetizer, entree, and the check. And getting the check took effort to waive him down. He was waiting on tables in two very separated areas, so he was barely on our side. The woman who seated us said "sorry for the wait. I promise the food will be worth it." Well, it was not worth it at all. The ceviche sampler did not have much fish at all...it was just a bunch of liquid and cucumbers, with a few tiny tiny pieces of fish. The guacamole was decent but was deceptively small as they place it on top of a hidden bed of shredded cabbage. I don't appreciate the trickery there. And the chicken flautas wasn't really crispy at all. Additionally, I really wanted to catch up with my family members over lunch, but it was so loud inside that we were yelling at each other because we couldn't hear a thing. We finally just gave up and said "nevermind we'll catch up afterwards." I understand that there is a bar and it can be a lively environment but maybe keep that to one section, as not everyone wants to be unable to communicate across their own table during a meal. It's been a while since I've been back to Cha Cha's. The 1/2 off daily specials is what always brought me back since it was such a great deal. They use to offer the daily specials during the lunch hour but changed it 2-3 years ago to after 3 pm which made it harder to take advantage of since I don't live in the area and I always met my friend here for lunch. Their crab and shrimp enchiladas are still my "go to" favorite. The service is always on point here and I love the ambience of the restaurant. They do offer $14 lunch specials but I can never pass up their seafood enchiladas when I come here. A good choice if you are craving Mexican food and you're in Brea. read more

First, I'd like to compliment the impeccable, attentive, and friendly service provided by Desiree and one of the managers, Francisco! They were constantly checking in on us and making sure we were comfortable throughout our visit on a busy Saturday night. The food was amazing! I had an incredible swordfish with calabacitas. My girlfriend had chicken flats which she enjoyed. We both had great tequila cocktails that went well with our meals. Cha Cha's has date night vibes written all over! While it looks and sounds busy, its not enough to distract or interfere with your own conversations. I always look forward to cha-cha's because it's a fun place but not so much this time Friday evening 5:30 we were seated on the left side of the bar area. There was a party at the door and it was very loud. I had a dragon fruit margarita. The server forgot what I had ordered and came back for clarification-Not my favorite won't have that again very heavy tasting. The waitress asked if we wanted guacamole and I said yes, but we never got it and I never asked again. I got the Carnitas platter and I think it was made the day before and someone spilled the salt shaker into it. Requested flour tortillas and got corn. Disappointing. Here's the good. The food was good. For an appetizer, we got the chicken flautas which were delicious. For mains, we got the carne asada plate and salmon plate. The carne was tender and delicious. The glaze on the salmon was a bit too sweet. We also got drinks- cucumber marg and house marg which was very refreshing after having to send it back multiple times. Now the bad: Upon arrival, the host was super rude. She asked for our reservation but never made eye contact with us. She also told us it would be about 15 mins for us to be seated but the restaurant was nearly empty! Instead of waiting, we opted to just sit at the bar, which had plenty of open seating. At the bar, the interaction with the bartender also bad. We asked for no salt on the rim of our margs, which he ignored. When we asked that he remake the drinks, he simply poured the drinks with the salt on the rim into new glasses, but of course you could still taste plenty of salt in the drinks. When we again asked that he remake the drinks, he gave us the worst attitude, even the folks next to us at the bar noticed and made a comment. All in all, the food was good but service was absolutely terrible! I would only return for takeout. read more

We arrived right at 11:30 a.m. on a Saturday and were greeted with excellent service from our waitress. They started us off with freshly made chips served alongside a variety of salsas--mild, medium, hot, and habanero. I stuck to the mild salsa this time, but it was so flavorful! We ordered drinks and two appetizers: calamari and Nacho Cha Cha. The calamari was a delightful mix of octopus legs, rings, fried onions, and fried zucchini. The Nacho Cha Cha was loaded with cheese and chicken--absolutely delicious! For our main dish, my husband and I both ordered the three-combination enchiladas, which included crab and shrimp (my favorite!), chicken (a close second), and cheese. While you can choose just one flavor, I loved trying the variety. I didn't get a chance to taste the other dishes our friends ordered, but I thoroughly enjoyed my Mango Lemonade--it was so refreshing and delicious. The queso fundido de chorizo was yummy, the manila clam with chorizo had the right balance of spice and freshness, and the cocktails were spot-on especially the margarita with a tropical flair! It was our first time trying this restaurant and the manager Cairo, our waitress Ashley and Maria were so friendly, attentive, and genuinely made the experience special. They checked in often without being overbearing, offered great menu suggestions, and made sure everything came out perfectly. I was on a solo date. The hostess didn't side eye me. She was welcoming and friendly and even more so when she discovered it was my first time visiting. She noted it and the warmth was extended from her to my server and Francisco the manager. They were informative, attentive, and helpful with recommendations. The food was devine. The salsa rojo & verde were more about flavor than spice. My taste buds dance with every bite. The guacamole was on point!! I thoroughly enjoyed the fajita plate and the sangria. I visited on 4/10/26 with a reservation at 6:30pm. The front hostess, a taller young woman, was noticeably unfriendly, as was the young woman who seated us. It was a sharp contrast to every other experience I've had here, where the staff has always been warm, welcoming, and attentive. Our waitress, Ashley I believe her name was, was also not the friendliest, no hospitality. My girlfriend and I came here before a night at the Improv. We arrived around 4:30, which ended up being perfect as the place had yet began to fill up (by 5pm it was full). Loved the carafe of chilled water. We ordered some guacamole with the chips/salsa while we weighed our dinner options. I picked out three choices that I really thought I would like, then let me girlfriend make her choice. She selected my first choice (Fresh Seafood Caldo), so I opted for my second choice (Fresh Grilled Salmon). The Caldo was large enough to share and my girlfriend kindly asked for a separate bowl for me to share part of hers. It was everything I thought it would be, so I can see us ordering this again. As for my salmon, it was great as well. I loved the sweet chipotle-honey sauce with a finishing spicy kick. It complimented the salmon without overpowering it. I opted for vegetables instead of rice and that was the right choice for me. I made a reservation and was sat behind the bar, which is fine, but then a large group took over the table next to us and took our chairs and basically sat on top of us and when I said something I was told "well it's happy hour." Okkaaayy, so why make a reservation if you can just grab an open table at happy hour... hmmm.
