This place has extremely good service! I enjoyed stopping in for the best trivia in town too! I really only get Guinness but their other items sound good! This place is warm and cozy. Ceol Irish pub is a very nice local pub with the Irish flair you would expect. They do not serve food on most days (St Patrick's day the exception) but they have a nice selection of Irish beers and whiskey to make you see green. Weekend evenings they have live music and they have daily drink specials. The best time of the year to go is St Patrick's day. My friends and I have made Ceol our hang out for the holiday. For the holiday they block off the parking lot out back and have a stage for more live music, a beer truck and food truck. You can also hear music inside at their indoor stage. During the event they have 4 areas pouring drinks, be sure to try a car bomb! So if your in the mood for a nice Irish pint you should give Ceol a try. read more

We came in for the "Music Jam", but they resist anyone joining in that is not professional-grade. After we found it was not inclusive, we stopped going. My wife is actually a very excellent musician, but we couldn't even get the group to share songs. BUT. Ceol is among my favorite bars in Reno. This bar is not just Irish on St. Patrick's day but rather celebrates Irish traditions and culture all year long. My favorite time to stop by here is on Tuesday nights to hear local musicians play in a more relaxed setting. It's generally not too busy on these days. They also have trivia on I believe Monday nights but it's not my favorite location for that- be sure to check the themes prior to going. They often have live bands on the weekends and during the summer you can catch them at Food Truck Friday's. They carry your typical Irish beers- reds, Guinness, etc. read more

I was so happy to see that the new location had opened up and was able to stop in with a couple others after dinner on a fairly busy Friday night. I have no idea if there is additional parking aside from the small lot up front, but this wasn't a problem for us since we walked from a few blocks over. Like I said, the place was packed when we first got there with barely any inside seating available but quite a few tables with options outside. We sat at the bar as a few people left and got to talking with the owner and one of the bartenders about Ireland and favorite whiskeys. I want to say the bartender's name was Adam but I'm terrible with remembering such things and apologize of that's not the case. Anyways, he made sure to ask our names and confirmed them before we left for the evening. We'll definitely be back as the old location was also one of our favorites. My boyfriend & I have been regulars at Ceol for the last few months. We just returned from Ireland & Ceol matches the typical Irish pub atmosphere. It is a place where you can find old friends & make new ones too. The classic Ceol warm drinks are great and the Irish drinks on tap round out the whole experience. Perfect venue for large and small groups. We went here last night with about 15 people and all sat at the same comfy table. Anytime I have gone here the bartenders have been very friendly and attentive. Adam served us and he was THE BEST! He went above and beyond to help us figure out what we wanted to drink and came over to our table to check on us. There is no better establishment than Ceol. I guarantee you cannot find a cleaner bar or friendlier staff in Reno. I have been coming here for years and enjoy the incredibly reasonable happy hour prices, not saying full prices are all that expensive either. Where else can you get $3 Guinness? The whiskey selection is exceptional here. There is a wide variety of Irish and scotch whisky, as well as bourbon at very reasonable prices. Also if you looking for something to do during the week they have traditional Irish tunes on Tuesday, trivia night on Thursday, and discount whiskeys on Wednesday (very worthwhile). Had a GREAT night! Being relatively new to Reno we want to try everything it has to offer so why not try an Irish Pub? We had such a great time! We went on a Tuesday so we weren't sure what to expect, and I was surprised to see they had a nice crowd. Loved the feel of the place, I felt like I was in Ireland. When we walked in there was a group having a great time playing darts and the live tunes (Tune Tuesday) was calling to us. We sat down ordered drinks and listened to the group play. Hubby and I felt totally comfortable and had a great night listening to music and conversation. Our server was super friendly and quick about our drinks. My husband is Scotch-Irish and I am Polish but heck when you walk in the door at Ceol everyone is Irish! We will definitely make this one of our new places to hang out. The only only thing that I would think could make this place better is a couple of comfy couches around the stage/music area BUT it is perfect the way it is....Love it! read more

It's been years since I found "my bar." You know that feeling you get when you leave a bar and you can't wait to go back? This place manages to maintain an authentic across-the-pond-pub feel and still be Reno as hell. My buddy and I came on a Friday and signed up for the Whiskey Passport. I really like having an expert on alcohol recommend new spirits for me to try, and everyone behind the bar seems pretty knowledgable about my favorite brown liquor. The layout is pleasing to me: Spacious, plenty of room at the bar, in front of the generous stage area (for a pub anyway), a patio area for chainsmokers, and even a more private booth area. Brick and wood abounds. At no point do I feel I have to squeeze past people even when they're busy. I also enjoy how enthusiastic and friendly each staff-person I've met is. So far I've met Adam, Patrick, Lincoln, and Kayla. I've only been in three times and they already know my name. I have no idea whether I'm the Cliff or the Norm yet, but we'll see. (Oh god, I hope I'm not the Frasier). I like going to a bar and sitting AT the bar, while something else is happening. This place has regular weekly events like Irish music on Tuesdays, trivia Thursdays, rotating folk-adjacent acts on Fridays and Saturdays. Gives me something to ponder as I drink with friends, or swirl a rocks glass happily alone, or maybe chat with a stranger who's also enjoying the vibe of this place. I have a feeling I'm going to end up here a lot. Also- I was informed by a very nice Irish gentleman that it's pronounced "Qheol" or Kheol" almost with a hard "q-h" sound. We had such a great time here. We had great beers for $3 until around 10 PM and ordered in pizza and wings. The waitress was very nice, attentive, and helped with the ordering. (Not sure what the fuss is about noble pie.....). Bar has an open floor plan and an inviting atmosphere. They had a good whiskey-scotch collection. Husband & I have stopped by about a half dozen times in the last couple of years and this is just a wonderful little hidden gem of a bar. The waitresses are lovely ladies and the bartender is very nice and knows the proper way to pour a Guinness and the owner is a very nice guy and seems to genuinely care that everyone is enjoying themselves. I can't recall his name, but I would not be surprised if he remembered ours. Even given his seemingly very genuine concern, I'm totally just falling prey to my own imagination and it may have been influenced by the drinks, but he may be a gangster. Completely irresponsible of me, but there, I said it. The bar is very clean, nicely understated in the terms of decor and has a nice dark corner. Nice dark corners can be, well, nice. And fun. For certain activities. Just saying. I LOVE that there are no, zero, none, not a damn one, TVs. Talk to each other and/or listen to music or play trivia. Interact. Plenty of other places to watch a game. The music when we go, weekend or weekday. is very entertaining. Mostly singer/songwriter stuff but talented musicians every time we've been. Holy god, if ever you want to feel like you're in some small Irish hamlet dancin a jig and breakin in a new brogue, this is the place to be. Secondly, the diversity of the patrons. Ya gotcha grizzled regulars (who really aren't grizzled in the "mean" sense, just more chronic drinkers but still totally friendly). Then ya gotcha post-college crowd (the types who've outgrown Imperial's foolishness but still appreciate a good beer on tap and a social atmosphere). And then ya gotcha newbies. Which, let's be honest, every bar's got 'em. But this combination just makes for a really neat atmosphere, because they've all got one thing in common, they all want to be in a traditional Irish pub. Back in their early days this place annoyed me on the fact its Gaelic name means "music", yet it had the worst sound. Thankfully, things have greatly improved. Ceol is an awesome little Irish pub downtown that I love for their daily (yes, even Saturday and Sunday) happy hour, dart board, and good selection of Irish brews. You could convince me to come here almost any day of the year, except for St. Patrick's Day when all the bar amateurs come out in force. During happy hour they have free popcorn for snacking, really awesome trivia on Thursdays, and live music on Fridays and Saturdays with no cover. It's just generally a nice place to kick back with friendly folks while sipping on a frosty beverage (or one of their many whiskys). If you're not ordering an Irish brew, I'd taste it first. I think because it doesn't turn around as fast as some of the others they sometimes get a little off-flavor (I'm look at you, Great Basin Icky). Bartenders are always nice and I've even seen a dog or two in here when it's slow. read more

This ginger kid loves Ceol's. The first time I went here there was a table filled with musicians who played all night, including one guy who would stand up at times and sing acapella ballads. No, not 80's rock ballads, but legit Irish ballads. They make their Guiness with little clovers on the top which appeals to my girly side (if I could I'd put a heart over the I in girly), the service is great, and they have free popcorn during happy hour (please don't tell me if you've ever spit in this). Some friends, my girlfriend and I stopped in here last night during a midtown collective and we had a blast! We came in and found a table to sit while our friend got us some drinks. Once the drinks made it to the table, an older gentleman that was working came and ask for our ID's and was VERY nice and funny. He was cheerful and kinda teased us for "trying to act old" (we're all mid 20's). I'm always appreciative when asked for my ID because I feel like the establishment is being a responsible contributor to the local economy. Shortly after a waitress came and took a drink order and I asked for a red or brown ale and she brought me a Smithwick's Irish Ale. I've never had it before but it was very good! I'll definitely be looking for this more often. While having the drink I started to take in the vibe of the place. Everywhere you looked there were smiles and friendly faces. Everyone seemed to be having a great time. There was a live band playing called The Clark Brothers. Two guys playing very authentic sounding Irish music. One song I think was a well known folk song because there was an audience participation part where everyone was clapping in unison. The bar (and even the bathroom) was very clean and the decor was relevant to the Irish pub theme. Overall we all ha a blast and we will be going back, hopefully often. read more

Practically the only place I go anymore. Love the staff (Seth and the girls) and the owner (Ron) within first couple visits remembered our names and our drinks. Nice to feel loved and recognized to a business for giving them business. They have popcorn until they run out sometimes they have food catered not to mention live music on weekends and a big screen for Monday Night Football. If you want food they keep menus from close by places that deliver ranging from pizza to sub sandwiches to chinese. Our favorite past time is to get some drinks and play Cricketeer. Always have great selections for the "eccentric" or non Coors Light, Budlight drinkers as well as some premium scotches. Upon moving to Reno last month I immediately searched for an Irish Pub, and thoroughly appreciated the great reviews of Ceol. So I decided to check it out.. And although I dont yet know anyone in the city yet I decided to venture stag and see how comfortable I felt. (I do not normally go to bars by myself, just not my thing). I had a 3 day weekend so I went in on Thursday about 9pm. Fairly easy to find for a newcomer to Reno. Get on S. Virginia and look for the WILD ORCHID titty bar. Ceols is directly across the street. Parking was sketch.. seems like a busy night might find you parking a distance in what is a very dark alley side street area.. I am not sure how the crime is for the area but if I were in my familiar cities I wouldnt feel comfortable in that area. Anyways.. found parking and headed in.. every table was taken and the bar was completely open.. so I parked on a stool.. and grabbed the first beer that caught my eye.. the barman was good.. quick and precise.. good small chat but didnt get too involved.. my kind of joint.. Angelique, one of the servers was very nice and took care of my orders both nights I came in.. they both introduced themselves and shook my hand which I thought was very cool. The second time I came in.. Saturday.. was awesome.. great live music.. there were a couple random groups that came in that definitely didnt belong there.. they were the clubbin crowd.. and should have researched a little better before walking in.. Ceol's is a pub.. its well lit.. clean and friendly. Its inviting of good conversation and new company. Take your drunk 22 year old friends that cant control themselves elsewhere.. this isnt the place for you.. The Guiness is perfect here. read more

Centrally located near downtown casinos, midtown neighborhoods, and the strip joint, there is no reason for you not to drop in! I can't say enough how much I love Ceols! I love coming here for the St. Pattys day crawl, and I came here for the Muddy Angels fundraiser. I entered into an Irish Car bomb drinking competition during the fundraiser and came in second place! Yes, I had a ride home and YES I had a BLAST!
