A black owned bar!!! Yaahhh!!! The size of the bar is just great! It's really hard for me to find Remy in this town so I was elated to see it here. Now the vibe wasn't for black people unfortunately. I was hoping to see a lot more kinfolk than I did but I can also see why. I was introduced to Kj but unfortunately he was busy. As there are only 2 bartenders the wait is ridiculously long and well... who wants to deal with that constantly? The inside is kinda small so the majority of ppl are outside where the dj booth is as well. Nice setup outside. Kj says the outdoor bar will be opened soon. That really doesn't help the wait time if there's no additional bodies. Definitely need 3 ppl behind the bar, one on each end and one in the middle. Now Sarah is so sweet but she isn't an octopus and can only move so fast. Street parking isn't too bad. I sure hope someone on the kinfolk side decides to promote this. Friday night vibe is amazing! Small sized crowd around 9PM but definitely pick up a ton about 11PM. Mostly outdoor patio seating with a good selection of mixed seating options, and large sized Jenga and Connect4. Fire pits were perfect for warmth at late night and were smokeless which was so incredible because I love the heat but hate the way the campfire smell sticks on you. Green tea shots were so delicious and we also ordered W.C and summer fling. Bartender recommended buffalo trace bourbon for an old fashioned. For round 2 we tried their strawberry daiquiri and the chinese lily. The W.C and strawberry daiquiri were my favorites! Totally recommend checking this place out with friends or date night. Does get really loud once the crowd picks up so this place isn't quite fit for an intimate conversation but good for a casual meet! read more

We went to Z bar for a Bollywood/Indian themed party. We paid tickets to enter and we were led to the patio. I expected it to be separate from the rest of the folks but anyone and everyone who entered the bar was allowed to go to the patio. I kind of felt that my buying the tickets were a waste because there was no difference, no free drinks or benefits. Plus I left my leather jacket there and when I went back the next day for it, they didn't even look for it or help me figure it out. But having said all this, I still have had some really fun times here. read more

This is one of my favorite hangout spots! The outdoor seating is so nice any time of the year. In the summer, the nights have a nice cool breeze and in the winter, they fire up their multiple fire pits. They also have karaoke and sometimes DJs. I went recently and they even had an afrobeats DJ which is pretty dope. The drinks are delicious and the staff makes sure to get them to you fast! The fire pits on the outdoor patio are the highlight of this awesome bar. Being that I don't really drink alcohol anymore, it would be nice to go to a place that offers more than the typical bar scene. Z bar is just that. Unique in that there are around six large outdoor fire pits w comfy seating, outdoor white lights (I'm a sucker for a string of white lights) and always the best music playing. Z Bar will always hold a special place in my heart. The first time I walked into here was on my 21st birthday and the owner, KJ, made it very welcoming and special. The drinks are great and the atmosphere is very chill. I love that they have a outdoor seating now. It is a great place to hang out with a group of friends on a nice summer night. I love all of the signature cocktails, but the one that keeps me coming back is the Strawberry Balsamic. The strawberry purée compliments the balsamic perfectly. I dream about this cocktail. I recently went to Z bar to order this cocktail but was sad when I didn't see it on the menu. I asked the bartender if she could make it and she gladly did. She said that it isn't on their current menu but they have everything on hand to make it and it was the highlight of my night. This place is a dumpy bar in midtown. The bartender was super chill tho, he gave me a free cranberry/soda with my Jäegermeister shot, perfectly chilled. I came to meet a local volunteer group but I wasn't very impressed with the set up...a park bench outside in the blazing sun, ew. I met a few gals with the red shirts on but overall left unimpressed. This is a happening area of midtown so it was hopping and hard to find decent parking for my killer pumps. Sooo overdressed oops I forgot I was in Reno :) I have too much going on this summer with lots of houseguests and family coming to visit, Fun! The menu had some specialty drinks to offer but I was driving not more drinking just 2 shots! Gravel outside back was rough; I wasn't prepared for such a dive bar. I have come here a couple of times in the years past, but I believe it was before the large patio area was there. A group had set up an event to sit out at the Firepits, and it seemed that there may have been close to 25 people in attendance. Luckily there are more than enough firepits to go around. There is also plenty of bench seating so there was enough seats for everyone. I loved the feel of the firepits on a colder night, definitely good chill vibes. I didn't get out a chance to check out the food truck that stays on site- but I saw a bunch of wonderful smelling onions and french fries being brought out to people. I thought their specialty drink menu was so fun, I ordered a Christmas in Hawaii and that's exactly what it tasted like! The later it got, it also seemed to get more busier which makes sense for a Friday night. I think this is a great spot, especially with the warm weather that is to come with the changing of the seasons. read more

Whoa. I went to a bar during COVID. It was a little more than a month ago. Farewell drink with a good friend. Needed somewhere with good cocktails and whiskey that you could enjoy in an outdoor space large enough to allow distance and with warmth on a cold winter night, Z Bar was the perfect spot! Their expansive patio has a several nice permanent fire pits that are well spaced and offer a pretty comfortable space in 30-40 degree temps. They also happen to have great cocktails (Apple Brown Betty, classic old fashioned or whiskey neat for me) and a solid whiskey selection too. This visit I had a pour of a 6 year Willet and an old fashioned. Both delicious. Service at your seat is offered now, so you don't even have to get up! I'm not gonna lie. It was nerve wracking going out during the pandemic, but Z Bar had everything in place and I was way more comfortable than I thought I could be. I appreciate businesses that are taking this seriously and doing all they can to keep us safe. Awesome experience. Thanks for going the extra mile. read more

How have I lived in Reno for 6 years and not been to this fun bar? I've had it bookmarked but we noticed it driving through Midtown tonight after dinner. We started out in the bar but ended up on the patio to enjoy the fireside tables. They have a really nice menu of cocktails. We had the strawberry balsamic (delicious!) and the peppermint hot chocolate. Comes with choice of peppermint schnapps or peanut butter whiskey (amazing!). I've been here a couple times before and apparently never written a review. We went back yesterday midday to enjoy a post quarantine drink out. The owner KJ has been working on his patio and it's a great space to hang. Super large space with lots of seating and a nice privacy wall so you aren't staring at the building/parking lot next door. There is also lots of shade covering and some existing fire pits for those chilly evenings. The inside looks updated but you can't sit inside for now due to social distancing. My group tried a total of four drinks and I sampled three of the four. All were delicious! I had a couple BRB's because bourbon is mostly my thing. Smooth and tasty with a nice scent of orange peel on the noise. Yum The Upside Down Pineapple was delicious, so if you are a rum drinker, you'll like this one. The Strawberry Balsamic was slightly tart but overall nice flavor and a good go-to summer cocktail. The prices are definitely cheaper than some of the other midtown cocktail bars you'll hit up, so that's a bonus too! I will definitely be back to enjoy my well priced cocktail in an awesome outdoor space with a relaxed vibe. read more
