Why, yes! I did give the polo lounge five stars! You're probably wondering why and that's fair. It's been years since I've been inside this building but in that time the polo lounge has undergone an incredible transformation. Gone is the smoky dive cougar den that once was, and now thrives a lively bar, billiards room, nightclub and lounge , all of which is completely smoke-free! The crowd was as friendly as always. The live music was more than entertaining, and to this cake the whiskey selection behind the bar was what I'd call exceptional for a place like this, and the pricing was unbeatable! I ordered a Frey ranch rye whiskey, neat and it came out as a 2 to 3 ounce pour for under $15! I noticed quite a few allocated bottles Japanese whiskey, and more that I would've liked to of tried had I had more time but after our experience, I'll certainly be back sooner than later! read more

This place is definitely a v i b e. True to its name, it is absolutely a lounge. Under the dim lighting, there's plenty of red leather upholstered cozy high couches to sit while enjoying your drinks. There's an entire section dedicated to billiards and plenty of spaces to park at the bar. I enjoyed the live music and dancing in the adjoining room, and I'd definitely come back on my next trip. I could tell that this place is certainly for locals and a slightly older clientele. Overall, I enjoyed my large plastic cup of vodka soda and the freely available tap water. I've heard about this Reno staple for years. The rumor around town is it's where you go for "cougar hunting", whatever that is. While I did notice the crowd definitely leans to the older side, I found it to also be one of the more eclectic and classy bars in Reno with a good mix of peoples. This place looks like a hole in the wall from the outside but the interior is spacious and well plotted out. There is a main bar area, which greets you as you walk in the door. To one side of that is a lounge type area with pool tables and comfy chairs and to the other is the dancefloor, which had a couple of gogo dancers and a DJ. Definitely wasn't expecting the dancers, so that was a surprise but a good one! The dancing ladies also help at the bar and while we were there, despite how busy it was, we got our drink orders pretty fast. Should probably mention this place has a rule against vapes, which is fine and the bouncers were totally cool with explaining it to us but I didn't see anything detailing this on our way in but I am sure I just missed it. I mention it because bars here are about 50/50 on whether you can smoke but this is the first one I've been in that has rules against vapes. The amount of security staff at this location and I suppose the amount of staff in general is probably twice as many as any other club I've been into in Reno and it looks like they are largely successful and it feels safe. Other bars and clubs here could learn a thing or two from Polo. read more

Came here after a recent holiday party for work. The holiday party involved dinner and two free drink tickets, but left many of the employees wanting more. One of the older adult employees suggested we all come to the Polo Lounge. All of us who are in our 20's and 30's had never heard of it but decided to give it a shot. We had the best time! The Polo Lounge is in Midtown but is easy to miss as it is not on the main part of South Virginia with the rest of the bar scene. One side of the building has the bar and several places to sit. The other room has a stage with live music! The band sounded good but the main female singer was not the best, she messed up the lyrics to Dancing Queen which everyone else in the crowd was even able to sing without error. However, one of the male singers was pretty impressive at doing the rap portions of a few different songs. The vibe was super fun and nobody really cared about how good the performing was; they were just happy to be dancing and singing along to live music! They played a variety of songs including oldies and more current jams that you would hear on the radio. My husband and I got 3 drinks and our total was $27 before tip, so pretty affordable cocktails. You could consider this place a dive bar but it was a lot of fun and a nice change from the typical bar scene. I would come back again as a stop on a night out with friends, mostly because of the live music! read more

I've only been in a few times. It's kind of boring and dark, with very little going on. The karaoke is so painful it was actually the reason I left. The bartenders I've seen aren't exactly quick to recognize that a customer has walked in because they're busy talking to the other two people in the place, and they aren't engaging in any way. It's probably better if you're a regular, or go on toward the end of the week, but Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday have left a lot to be desired. read more

A very large, drunk and aggressive man was harrasssing and threatening customers. Management was aware of the situation. Finally, the man started a fight with a karaoke singer on stage. Close to home, this is kinda an upscale dive bar. Oxymoron right? It is a tight fit if you are there on a busy night. Dark place with low ceiling, tiny stage area and dance floor. On occasion they have live music or karaoke. It's a simple bar, so no foofoo cocktails, just regular old school ones, beer and limited wine. Week nights it can be a nice quiet place for a cocktail, on weekends a fun place to hang out with friends. It has that old school MadMen vibe with dark wool interior and some booth seating. The band wasn't schedule to start until about 9:30. However, about 9:15 they started playing music and displaying music videos from the 80s and now. The music wasn't so loud that we couldn't continue to talk. We left before the band, so I cannot comment on how they were.
