Checking out the newest place in Sparks!! Cool logo! #usbg #election #sailorjerry #hashtagsareturretsonsocialmedia

Wow. Total surprise on how quality this place was. I was here for a special event ran by the USBG. The bar itself has a handful of low and bar height tables. Everything is of course recently upgraded and very nice looking. The bar itself is the only jewel on this property right now. The rest is still just a truck stop. But don't let that deter you from going in and experiencing a nicely designed bar. If you like to gamble while you drink they have bartops. They even have a lower slung one for those who cant sit high. Pretty nice touch! The bartenders aren't craft cocktail tenders, but they do know how to sling properly. I will come back. I just need a good excuse!

Golden Raisin Old Fashioned - Craft Cocktails at a Truck Stop!

Tim R is my spirit animal, and I'm stealing his words to start off this review. Atomic Bootlegger is one of those places that just screams Reno/Sparks. Here's Why: 1) Much like a Nevada hot spring this bar is tucked away, you've gotta know what you're looking for, and just when you think you're lost it reveals itself. 2) Reno's got grit and Bootlegger is almost as gritty as it gets. Yes. It's in a TRUCK STOP but it's not that gritty because we all know truck drivers are just big teddy bears! There's smoke in the air, so that gives it some edge. 3) Just like Reno/Sparks, it's unassuming and maybe unimpressive until you get to know it. Truckstops are definitely not my usual idea of a night out, but when they've got a bar serving craft cocktails, legendary local bartenders slinging drinks, and a super friendly crowd of regular clientele, it's hard not to stop in every once in a while! 4) Just like Reno/Sparks, it has to get to know you before you're "in". They're rocking a real loyal crowd of regulars, all of whom are warm and welcoming despite tougher exteriors. Take the time to get to know them and you'll find fast friends in no time. Ask the bartenders to introduce you. So what about the drinks? Well, they've got the basics, but the real stars here are the craft cocktails. I'm an old fashioned fan, and I saw a "Golden Raisin Old Fashioned" and just had to have one. I was nearly gobsmacked when it arrived in a proper old fashioned glass with a big ol' ice cube right in the middle, and beyond that, it was delightfully delicious! I'll say I felt odd sipping this drink in this bar, but after seeing folks around me enjoying similar drinks, that thought went out the window and I settled in. Go get your Bootlegger on y'all!

Good beer selection and great prices on happy hour.

Good beer selection and prices are reasonable during happy hour. It's a lay back place with pool tables.

I really enjoyed my Friday night venture out in Sparks with one of my favorite drink spots-…read moreTipsy's. A friend and I had discussed venturing somewhere for drinks and Tipsys was what popped in my head. Low and behold it was ladies night even better. I had saw a cotton candy drink and showed it to my friend and that was all the convincing that was needed! It was the perfect chill and relaxing vibe after a long and busy week. I love the glow of the place and the music was good. There was even security on site which is always good. We were fortunate enough to have Valerie the owner behind the counter, during my very first time to Tipsy's she was behind the counter. Most of the drinks for ladies night were $10, there were some really fun ones that were outside of that that are on my list for next time including a ducky in a bathtub, and even having a cocktail in a purse. I enjoyed chatting and commending Valerie for her and her families' creative business ventures. I loved learning about a new business soon to open- the Social Club which will be on Victorian. I love how more nightlife is coming to downtown Sparks to revitalize the area down there. I had been in the area and saw the signage and got super excited. I even learned that Señor Tequila's was a family member's business wow- so cool! I thought the drink- which was a special - Daydreaming which consisted of mango, passionfruit and prosecco. It was a beautifully served drink and tasted amazing. My friend even asked Valerie for some extra cotton candy and she was sweet enough to serve us extra in cups. Totally would have stayed to try more cocktails but my friend wanted to venture. Can't wait to come back to venture the ducky drink and some other cutesy ones.

Sparks Lounge used to be Sidelines…read more Sidelines had a real bad reputation for fighting and many other not so swell nighttime activities. I am a professional bar fly and I wouldn't step foot in that place. It went from a grungy bar to a biker bar to an ECV bar. It is currently under new ownership and looking to change that reputation a bit. My husband and I ventured in this weekend to see if it is turning around and it does appear to be doing so, slowly but surely. The entire place seems cleaner and the lighting seemed brighter although still appropriate for a bar. The demographic of the clientele is improving and the bar staff as friendly and attentive. They had a country bad playing when we went and the sound quality was great. Not to quiet yet not overpowering. Drink prices are not bad. They have two pool tables that were in use and quiet a few tables with chairs facing the stage most of which were also in use. The bar itself is pretty long with what I would guess is about 15 seats or so. My biggest gripe about the place is and always has been that they don't have any windows. It feels like you are drinking in a closed up room which you are but it makes it really easy to loose track of time, but I guess that really boils down to personal responsibility. We did notice that the front door as a window now, which is nice. I think new ownership can continue to turn the place around and I look forward to popping in every once and awhile and checking out the changes and increasing stars!

We all LOVED our drinks mine was like a boozy (honestly was there even booze in it lol) milkshake and I tried my friends, one was a special holiday drink "sugar plum fairy" which was sweeter and yummy and other friend got a baileys based martini also very yummy. I can't remember exact names but see pics haha. Really made me wanna come back for that milkshake drink sooner than the once a year or every two years I prob make it in here. For the Older crowd.

So, after dinner he wanted to take me to this fancy Fireside Lounge for drinks after dinner. It was hella hard to find, but we did finally. It's near the Italian place called Romanza. It's supposed to be like the old school fireplace lounges the Peppermill restaurants used to have. I don't think there's any Peppermill restaurants around anymore, just this casino. My friend told me all locals get 20% off at any of the restaurants, so that's kinds cool. Inside this lounge, it's really on the dark side and there's lots of soft puffy couches and love seats. If you wanted a dark booth to make out in, this is the place! There's nice seating around the gas fireplace if you want, but those seats go fast on busy nights. I thought the music was kinda loud, but that might just be me. I don't think there's much food served in here, just fancy drinks before the making out starts! They have there monster big bowl drinks to share like a Scorpion, I think full of rum and other stuff. That thing's gonna be a headache in the morning! It was fun staying for a round of drinks, we got one of the darker booths ... you know for making out! Check it out, if you can find the lounge!

What a major local gem in Reno. It only took one visit for…read moreme to become a fan of this coffee shop/bar in Midtown. You can tell that a lot of thought and heart went into the place. The decor, the entertainment, the products all struck a chord with me. On one side - a super cute pour over/loose leaf tea shop with some records for sale. On the other - a cute bar and lounge area equipped with a vinyl player (Bring one in on a Monday for them to play). You have some house pants, checkered floors, and cool vinyl covers all over the walls that make for some great & hip atmosphere and vibes. Their restrooms, though small, and clean and cool. Their pour overs are so flavorful, strong, and made with beans grounded on your visit. I love that they're flavored and sweetened in a way that allows the coffee to shine. If you're into sweeter drinks, ask for a bit more sweetner or add in a brown raw sugar packet yourself from the straw station. I hear their chocolate pour over is a hit. Matchas - prepared in a similar fashion. Slightly sweetned with subtle flavorings. I tried their carrot cake matcha today and really enjoyed the housemade syrup they used to flavor it with. I also love that they offer loose leaf teas. Their chai was nice, fragrant and great with a little sweetner and milk. Shelby over at the bar area was sooo patient with explaining their menu and suggested a isla bonita pineapple shrub drink for a non alcoholic option. Similar to their other drinks on the coffee side, it was tamed in sugar yet still fun and flavorful. I really enjoyed the tang from the apple cider and the spice from the tajin chili powder as a contrasting flavor. Double check their website for bar and coffee shop hours as they differ from one another. And follow them on Instagram for updates on seasonal specials & themed gatherings. A lot of cool local DJs spin here for special events and parties during the holidays. Tip: sit next to the pour over station next to the menu. It's so entertaining, especially with Sydney working the station (thanks so much for the chat and entertainment. Honestly one of the friendliest baristas I've ever met in Reno). Both bars are set up in a way that allows for meeting others and socializing. Check it out. It's a good time. Notes *Catch live jazz music on Wednesdays here for free. *free street & neighborhood parking *bagels & cream cheese available at the coffee shop *they have fun with their seasonal drink specials. I dig it.
