The Crystal Method: The Trip Out Tour (Reno) 8.12.23

Cypress Reno is where it's at for LIVE music in midtown!! The vibe, atmosphere and venue are PERFECT for every show that we have come to see!! Standing room ONLY and large enough area with everyone in attendance that enjoys the show without feeling like you are crammed in and still move around. Bathrooms are always clean, staff is friendly and helpful, lots of craft drinks, beers and H2O on the counter too. Even an outside area to cool down, chill and have a convo with your date or friends before you hop back inside for the show. Check out the upcoming shows on Cypress Reno website, grab tickets at the door or subscribe to the email list to keep up with their lineup of awesome shows! ENJOY!

Best music venue in Reno! The sound is amazing and the vibe is chill. Also, I like not waiting for drinks. Last time I was there I tried the food and those wings are fire! The staff is friendly too.

I came here for the first Reno Hair Show. It was a great event. This bar is not too big and not too small. I want to come back to catch the vibe of this place on a regular night. What I did notice though is they have a stage and dance floor. I really like a place where you can have music and you have space to move around. This place is in midtown. I didn't see parking so I just parked at the meters. I look forward to coming back.

"There's nothing better than live music. It's raw energy, and raw energy fills the soul!" Dhani Jones You could settle for basic, but then your not living. Reno has one of the best underground music scenes. So many artists here are trying to make it to the stage. Come on out and see whats playing. Your locals are here and want to play their hearts to you. Feel the ruthlessness of an epic guitar solo that goes on for hours. Let the joy from the stage spill over to you. The beat of the drum mirrors your heart beat. Thump thump you tap in its rhythm. While this is the greatest of greatest dive bars in the little city with in a city you get all their love. Band after band sings and presents their array of talent to you. Watch, dance, and tap your foot. As normal this is a bar, so drinks and non alcoholic alchemy flows from the bar behind the bar as per your needs. The main reason to come here is for the talent that's playing up on stage. A major act that writes and plays their own instruments their own way is the local blues artist and band, John Courage. This righteous guitar player belts out tunes such as; "The Valley," "Lone Wolf," and "The Poet." The tunes go for hours and hours. Oh that was just one song. Come out and see what you have been missing. During our stay in Vegas we attended a special event to establish the special guest spot for a local band at the Reno festival "Battle Ax and Tracks," at NOVI. The after party was held here at the Cypress. It's a short skip from the downtown area. They want to play for you! Now that the pandemic is in the rear, bands are coming back out. Here in Reno it's starting to get cold at night, but come inside and ignite your passion with the joys coming from the stage. It's time for some more live music. Moments of greatness are happening right now. What were you gonna do tonight? See you soon!

Cypress continues to be one of my favorite local venues for live music and that's because the sound is amazing. The sound tech knows what they're doing, so please keep up the great work! The bathroom is well kept and stocked and is handicapped accessible. Heads up, there is no food here.

We came here for a show and it was our first time visiting! It was a really nice venue for the size of the audience. They have a good selection of beers on top and canned beverages as well. The drinks were reasonably priced. There was no reentry at this show, but they do have a patio in back, which was nice. We'd definitely come back here for a show or to grab drinks again!

Found out recently The Saint went under during the pandemic... but looks like Cypress Lounge (or Cypress Reno?) replaced them at the same venue. Fun midtown spot with live music as well as dancing midweek -- I came on the latin dance Thursdays thrown together by Gerzon and it's been a blast! :) There's a lesson 830-930, then a dance social party till midnight-ish. Friendly and fun dancers, music distribution is 4 salsas : 4 bachatas : 1 merengue : 1 cumbia/wildcard song, so it's a little bit of something for everyone. Buy a drink and support the venue! And support yer local salsa/bachata scene too! :)

Highly recommend this place when your favorite artist is playing. The sound is great! The dance floor is big. The bar has a wide variety. I come hete often. Bathrooms are very clean. Also has an outside smoking area that's really nice.

I came here to see the Moon Muses show. They have a nice stage area and table seating and a large bar. I was able to get a drink and a front row seat and enjoy the show. It's a great little venue.

The schedule says Tuesday line dancin. We showed up and they were closed.

Just stick to burgers and wraps and you'll be fine.

It was such a beautiful day.... where can we eat outside?…read more I found "The Spot", its in the old Smee's location on the river. When we showed up, we asked if we could sit at a table outside, the guy was a little overwhelmed, he said "I can sit you in 10 mins". I said "can we have this table". OK, but....just know I'll be with you as soon as I get caught up, I'm totally fine with that I said. . He bought us a couple menus to look over. Then a table on the railing with shade opened up, I didn't care about the table was dirty with dishes, so we decided to move. I love to look at the river and watch the people go by. The server said, I'll be over soon! He was never so happy when Sierra showed up to help him out. He came over to our table I said "I hope you don't mind, I moved to be in the shade, I know I'm one of those pain in the ass customers". Then he started joking with me and it was the perfect ice breaker. My server and part owner's name is Casey! He is an awesome guy and such a hard worker to ensure his customers are taken care of. I love that. We had a couple beers, he has quite the selection of beers on tap, he supports the community breweries such as Lead Dog and Revisions. My husband had the breakfast burrito $13, it was huge with homemade tortilla chips with salad and guacamole. I had the fish and chips. You get three large pieces of fish, fries and yummy coleslaw. I love how they put the tater sauce and ketchups in personal cups for you that shows class. My fish was absolutely delicious better than the old Smees and especially the new location. You get a nice meal for $20. They have indoor, outdoor, bar seating. They have a little merch area and a gaming bar if you feel lucky. I know the Open Championship Bowlers are in town, if you're looking for nice comfort food "tavern style" location this is the place for you on the Reno Riverwalk 50 N Sierra. It upstairs.

I was definitely in the mood to try something new. After some searching The Spot is what caught our eye. Located by the river and where Reef and Smees used to be. including what you ordered or used, Since this was a new spot we decided to just order and share a ton of appetizers. This included: cup of cream of mushroom soup, pretzel bites, spinach dip, poutine fries and Brussel sprouts. 2/5 were a huge hit where the orders we would not try again. Cup of mushroom soup: cup size is a good appetizer portion, good mushroom taste but WAY too salty. Would not order again. Pretzel bites: SUPER YUM! Slightly crunchy at the corners and fluffy inside. Perfectly bite sized and great dips (cheese and mustard). Loved these and would absolutely order again. Spinach dip: not a fan. The one thing I did like about this is that the dip portion was extremely generous, but I was not a fan of the taste. For me it was like slightly watered down sour cream. You have the options of chips or baguette. We went with baguette and for the first time in my life, the dipping vessels were very scant compared to the amount of dip so if anyone orders this, I would recommend it with chips. Would not order again. Poutine fries: YUM! Definitely a shareable portion. Thin fries topped with yummy breaded cheese curds and piping hot gravy this was my favorite thing. The gravy was perfectly salted and I loved the breaded cheese curds. I do wish the fries were thicker, like a wedge cut but honestly these were insanely good. Will order again. Brussel sprouts: made with bacon which is always a must for that yummy flavor. Also drizzled with balsamic which is a win in my book. These were very tender and delicious but very oily or greasy which kind of gave me the ick but flavor was definitely there. Will not order again. We were seated immediately upon arriving and waters were brought out. Orders were taken quickly and food came out quick! However after the food came out, no one came to check on us, see how we were doing or clear plates. We were always having to flag someone down for refills, napkins and the check. It wasn't busy. The inside is clean, has a large bar area and outdoor seating. Also lots of TVs. I don't think I'll be returning, but I do recommend the poutine fries and pretzel bites. Things to note: Have to walk up stairs to enter. No private parking lot, have to street park and a lot of parking is metered. 9:00 am to 6:00 pm Monday - Saturday & free on Sundays / holidays.

Surprisingly, the restaurant was only about one-third full on a Friday evening. After chatting with our server, we learned the menu features staple items along with a few seasonal additions. While I'm personally not the biggest fan of beef Wellington, it was beautifully presented and cooked perfectly. My prime rib was also cooked exactly as requested, and the au jus served with it was uniquely delicious -- more like a rich, reduced syrup that packed an incredible amount of flavor. A draft beer for 16 dollars is also more than expected. Our bartender was professional and chatty. He did pull a nice bottle of tequila down for us to admire, and told us about some other fancy top shelf stuff they had. I appreciate they were even open. Service was great, everyone looked taken care of. The place looked clean; and the food looked great everywhere, ours just flopped. All of the other patrons there were probably late 50s and up at 2pm on Memorial day. This is one of the most expensive underwhelming lunches I've had ever had in Reno.
