Whether it's a pride party, a small local bass show or a sold out major artist, the venue is amazing, staff is friendly and so hard working and the sound system slaps! I came here on Labor Day. Definitely a Burning Man decompression get together! They had a dj, vendors and food (pizza). Really fun atmosphere. They didn't have the main inside bar open but I peeked in and the decor is so fun! Kinda disco, jungle vibes lol. I'd really like to come back here to experience this bar normally. Dead Ringer is another dive bar. It has the basic drinks. Some people like to dance and there's an open area for this. Good place to hang out. There's some live music sometimes. It can get forgotten about because it's near a few other bars. Make sure to get here. This one is different because they host live music. It's a cool looking place with all kinds of interesting art. This is kind of like a bar for artists, but they also play some hardcore stuff. Prices are kind of higher compared to other similar bars. This is apparently going for the hipsters so of course they're going to have some higher end local craft beer and liquor. It's about $7 for a typical cocktail. They have an impressive amount of whiskey. A good thing is they have strong pours and you can actually taste alcohol. They put most things in a plastic cup so there's no worries about breaking something. Has a few fun activities like parties around holidays. It has lots of local bands play. A Brutally Honest Review of Ritual at The Dead Ringer This review has been a long time coming. Let's get straight to it: DJ Draven is by far the worst DJ I've ever had the misfortune of seeing live. Every single time he takes the turntables, patrons leave in mass almost on the minute at 1 a.m., emptying not just the dance floor but almost the entire club. This has been happening for years, and it's cash literally walking out the door. Draven's sets often stray from the goth industrial theme of the night. Playing Madonna on multiple goth nights? That's beyond tone-deaf. It's disrespectful to the crowd and the scene. His mixes sound like they were made high on glue, killing any chance of keeping energy alive. Rumor has it Draven is hooked on some seriously hardcore drugs, and if true, that explains a lot. How have the owners not figured this out yet? Is he a drug mule or something? Bartenders who bust their asses for tips have told me how Draven's terrible music causes this mass exodus at every Ritual event. I've also had frustrating encounters with DJ Xenophobia, an unfriendly know-it-all who knows jack squat and is dismissive when asked why the bass drops out mid-set. She made up some BS about the nearby fire department which doesn't pass muster. The bass pounds full force every other Saturday on non-goth nights, and those nights are a blast. I'd bet my last dollar Ritual shuts down at 2 a.m. specifically because of Draven. Also, none of my song requests have ever been played, which says a lot. I know the Dead Ringer has security cameras. Why not review the past footage of Draven's, Xenophobia's, and DJ Rusty's work? They could ALL do much better. Their high school social clique mentality will be their undoing. Mark my words. I've partied until sunrise in Tokyo, New York City, Madrid, Chicago, Los Angeles, San Francisco, and Las Vegas, so I know what a proper night out looks like. Reno may be smaller, but that's no excuse for Ritual's music and vibe to feel buried beneath the dirt. Smaller scenes need more care and respect, not less. That said, The Dead Ringer itself is a great venue. The lighting improvements and upgraded air conditioning have been much appreciated by patrons like me. But keep going! Don't overlook the "talent". What Ritual really needs is a complete overhaul of the DJ lineup. DJs like Owen from the Bay Area get it. He understands the theme, connects with the crowd, and keeps energy alive. Ritual could be a cornerstone event in Reno nightlife if it had DJs who actually respect the genre and the crowd. To the owners, think about how much money you're losing every Saturday when your customers walk out early because of poor music. Your hardworking bar staff deserve a packed club until closing, not an early shutdown caused by a bad DJ. I challenge you to replace the current DJs with friendly customer service professionals who appreciate the fact that party goes pay out of pocket to be at Ritual. Find DJ's that know how to spin goth industrial tracks and keep the night on point. Watch the crowd stay, see the bartenders make more tips, and watch your business grow. Everyone wins. The scene deserves better. So do you. If my concerns are addressed, I assure you I will remove this review and replace it with a five-star review. You have my word. read more

My girlfriend and I had an absolutely amazing time at goth night!! But I woke up Tuesday morning after being there on a Saturday my friend and I each only got one drink that was $9 or $11 I can't quite remember. So a total of no more than $22. And they just charged my card $48 twice. There's no one for me to call. No one will return my messages. Be really careful about leaving your card on file here, immaculate vibes, and a good time do not equate to theft and treating your patrons with disrespect. Super bummer read more

1st Saturdays holds THE RITUAL! Its a fun club playing goth club music and I danced myself crazy. The venue has a couple of areas to sit, talk, drink, admire and dance. One can explore and make new friends. I like that their mixed drinks contain alcohol in them. They make a tasty Negroni complete with a square ice cube. On saturday i was having a fun time me and my friend i felt so comfortable, until the next thing i remember was waking up in the hospital. The hospital informed me someone spiked my drink and i was unconscious from 11 pm to 4am, i remember the bartender there was super friendly to the people who spiked my drink and looking back on it now and seeing my bill come out to $168 for drinks that only cost around $6 at almost every bar ive been to didn't seem to add up to the cost that was charged to me. I genuinely dont believe dead ringer is a safe place to go when your a woman. Also to mention that the only friend i had with me was kicked out and banned while i was unconscious and she was waiting for the ambulance to come help me (they knew she was the only person who came into the bar that night, the only safe friend i knew there). Since that night ive looked at other reviews and seen they have done absolutely nothing to help past women from being sexually assaulted there, so please if your considering going to dead ringer as a woman DONT GO!! They are messed up people who don't care if your unconscious and needing help. read more

I was looking for an eclectic bar to check out. I found this place and it seemed really cool! When I went, there was no one else there, which surprised me. The bartender seemed really chill, and we made some small talk and he found out I love heavy metal. So, he changed the music from his phone to some hardcore metal stuff, which i really liked. They had a decent selection of whiskeys too! Elijah Craig even! I guess the place hosts lots of local bands on the weekends. No smoking inside, just outside which is interesting because you will have the opportunity to talk to crack heads, junkies and the homeless. Definitely lock your car and roll up your windows, even if you can find parking in the iron fenced parking lot. Definitely will come back here. read more

First time here! This is review is mainly for the show we attended. We were greeted promptly upon stepping in the building and the host at front desk was very nice. The show host (owner?) was funny and made clear of rules for an outside comedy show which I thought was cool. The crowd were nice and we didn't witness any rowdy folks. The comedy show was enjoyable and entertaining! Boyfriend ordered couple of well drinks and he thought it was a bit expensive for twenty dollars--although he mentioned they were strong LOL! read more

WOW! This place is AWESOME! I should probably start this review with noting that this place used to be The Studio on 4th. The Studio on 4th was a different clientele and in desperate need of a good make over business model re-do. I don't know who bought this place but I could not be more impressed by what they have done with it. It's exactly what it needs to be and it's exactly what the area needs in order to become the brewery district that it inspires to be. Dead Ringer hosts live music. As per the Reno music scene you are going to find all sorts of acts at this venue. Be is folk, grassroots, blues, perhaps some punk or country. Maybe even rock. Some of these acts will be traveling musicians that require some research and some will be local whom you have heard of before. When you get to Dead Ringer you'll part in the Catholic Charities parking lot across the street. No stress, RTC has done a ton of work widening the roads and installing street lights. When you enter you will see two separate entrances, one straight ahead into the music venue and one to the right to enter the bar. This is a highly functional design considering some of the shows are 18 and over which eliminates the need for under age patrons to walk through the bar. The main room is HUGE! You'll find a flat stage to your immediate left with lounge seating in front of you to the left of the restroom. Behind that in what used to be a green room is a pool table surrounded by some sexual local art and a juke box - this room has a bit of a dark funk vibe that almost takes you to another decade and makes you forget your in Reno. Very well done. The demographic of patron has improved. The night I was there the crowd ranged from 21 to about 50. Everyone was polite, pleasant and having a great time. In the bar area you will find a selection or records. On non-band days you can select from these records and the bar tenders will play them for you. The bar is clean and the two bar tenders were very attentive and friendly. They have a variety of art in the bar area and the place has brightened up. I really could not be more pleased with the experience my friends and I had there. As long as the brewery district keeps going strong I believe that this bar has a bright and long future. My only comment is that they only serve craft beer. I totally get that Reno is all about Craft now and I know the location is close to Mid-Town and I know it's the up and coming brewery district and I know we are trying to support local business BUT I really feel every bar should offer one or two domestics for the lightweights....or at least a blonde craft of sort. I happened along this bar quite by accident, as I was driving by with the windows rolled down in my car on a hot night I heard some really interesting live music playing on a Tuesday and pulled over to check it out. The decor inside was very interesting, with a quirky artsy vibe and interesting things to look at in every nook and cranny of the place and some nice vintage/antique furniture. They had a good selection of quality beers, and from what I overheard some interesting from-scratch cocktail ingredients. The staff and patrons were friendly and overall it was just a great experience, making me look forward to coming back with some friends to catch some more music. read more
