I've been coming to Central Donut often on for years because their kolaches and pastries and donuts are so good. My favorite is the pictured spinach and feta and I have to say of all the ones that I've gotten from here. I probably ended up taking a picture of one of the ones that looks the worst, which tells you something about how good they look. And they taste better than they look. My favorite donuts to get are the old-fashioned. I like to order one of each, but as you'll note in the picture, there are three donuts this is because they give you an extra one when you order two. The family that runs this place is really nice. The service is quick. They've added different coffees as well as cold drinks so you have a pretty wide choice of beverages. This is a small family run place in a strip center behind a Wendy's and Walgreens, and next to the post office. If you live near North Central Austin it's definitely worth a trip. read more

From their service to their baked goods, there's nothing I don't like. The young lady behind the counter "Philly" is a wonderful young lady. She's always ready with a smile on her face. She greets you by name and is attentive as if you're the only customer in the store when she is helping you. All her donuts are exceptional, the kolaches are top notch. Prefer something else? They have breakfast sandwiches, breakfast muffins and breakfast croissants that will make you question why you bothered to go to the Golden Arches! I made a terrible mistake and ordered four dozen donuts from this location and ended up at a completely different donut store to pick up my order. When I showed up the woman said you didn't order anything. I felt horrible that they were making the special order for me so I went back on yelp and called the other two donut places that I could've possibly called to place my order. It was this one and she had my order ready for me not realizing that I lived 45 minutes away and could never come to get them. She was gracious, kind and didn't make me feel bad for placing an incorrect order and didn't get upset with me either. Excellent customer service and I'm very sorry again! Donuts are my guilty pleasure, but I'm picky about them. I've seen this place over the years, but never stopped by until today. Wow! I should've stopped by years ago. . . .or maybe not because then I would be 50 lbs heavier. Their donuts are so soft and delicious. They definitely beat out the chains and Round Rock donuts (not a fan, sorry!). We also had a kolache and that was good as well. Fresh & delicious donuts, breakfast tacos, breakfast sandwiches and kolaches! Wonderful local breakfast spot that is open every single morning even on Sundays. A hidden gem. Rarely is there a line but if there is the line moves super quickly. Like an idiot I had been buying donuts from 7-11 or Dunkin' but the donuts from Central Donut are priced lower and taste better. There are so many options to choose from here that one could buy breakfast here every day and never get tired. Central Donut is great for people who like their donuts not-too-sweet. They don't overpower you with sugar and grease at all. But if you do happen to crave something super sweet in the morning, you might be disappointed and find the donuts a tad on the bland side. I've had the blueberry cake donut a couple of times. Again, they're not very sweet which can be nice, but I do wish the flavor of the blueberries popped a little more. Based on other reviews I recently tried the apple fritter, and it was sweet, crispy on the outside, and soft & moist on the inside. Delicious and more decadent-tasting than the donuts. The prices here are fantastic. Staff seem to be friendly so far. I'll have to try some other items in the future but so far my impression is that it's a solid donut shop. read more

Have had this bookmarked for quit sometime, but truly just dont make it to this side of town very often. But after dropping the car of at Caliber, we made the trip. Wife had a bacon, egg and cheese Taco and I went the route of a sausage, egg and cheese biscuit. Service was great and so was the food. I have to say we were both a little shocked on how good it was. The eggs actually had flavor. And not just bacon bits, but a full strip of bacon. My biscuit was good size and fresh. With a bit of spice, or flavor from the sausage. And who can visit a donut shop and Not get something sweet. Wife loves apple fritters, and this was no exception. And I had to go with the maple long john, well because you just dont see maple much. Filled to order with your cream of choice. White for me, and it was packed from end to end, with just the right amount of sweetness. Really enjoyed our visit. I came home and googled other locations to find on Gattis school road, an area we do frequent. read more

Central Donut honestly offers some of the cheapest donuts around. You may ask, "Are not all donut establishments already affordable?" I reply to you, "Surely, but for the variety found at Central Donut? May it never be!" My order: Apple fritter: $1; Cinnamon twist: $0.90; Chocolate cake donut: $0.60. $2.50 price tag: Priceless... sort of. Not really priceless, but the intrinsic value I get out of spending a mere half large Lincoln is truly immeasurable in a monetary amount! You know that feeling... Why else would you hold so much value in a free item that may actually cost no more than $1? The apple fritter is crisp and light as can be, which is ALWAYS surprising. The cinnamon twist was fluffy, well-sugared, and just a great change to the typical fried, round, hole-filled object. The chocolate cake: this little guy packs a whole lot of awesome textural nuances and boasts the lightest hint of chocolate and sweetness. Cake donuts are really hard to beat, not to say that the traditionals are a bad thing; I just like to balance my fluffy ones with heartier ones. Friday I look over at my boyfriend with a scarily excited grin and say, "It's Friday. Do you know what that means?" And he says, "Yes...tomorrow we get donuts." Yup. I love this place so much I go crazy days before we actually go. I'd probably eat donuts every freaking day if I didn't have some self control. Inside was very clean and spacy, and had enough parking spaces outside.They still had enough donuts, breakfast tacos, and kolaches when I got there. I got: Sausage, Jalapeno and Cheese Kolache, Sausage and Egg Taco, Bacon and Egg Taco, Original Glazed Donut, Glazed Cake Donut, Chocolate Frosted Donut. 1) Kolache: Good. the bread was soft and inside was filled with good amount of sausages, cheese and stuff. It would be nice if the filling was little more (or less bread?) 2) Breakfast Tacos: Good. I didn't expect a donut place's taco to be this much good. It was also huge! I Think they put like 3 eggs and 2 whole strips of bacon in my taco. 3) Donuts: Glazed and Chocolate Frosted Donuts were okay. I am not a big fan of chewy huge donuts, but it was still good. Chocolate frosted donut needed more chocolates btw. However, I really liked the cake donuts. It was bit sweeter than other places, but this one is still better. They have a variety of donuts that include the classic glazed donuts and donut holes, cake donuts, apple fritters, twists, bear claws, and freshly filled donuts. Love their sausage and cheese kolaches! Cream and strawberry filled donuts were decadent as well. This is pretty cheap too. I don't know if it's just because I got used to them or what, but Central Donut has the best kolaches I have ever eaten, anywhere. They used to be right on the way to work for me, and once I discovered them I would often stop by for myself, the fam, or the crew at work. I always get the "regular sized" (smaller than the big ones) jalapeño cheese kolaches, and I always get at least a dozen, warmed up. The sausage is a small weenie-like sausage (1/2 inch diameter, I'm guessing), with a squirt of cheese and lengthwise slice of pickled jalapeño baked into a fluffy roll. The kolaches are palm-sized, just the right size to have three or four. Or five. Or six... These are very good kolaches. Round Rock donut has good kolaches, but they have a very thick (1-1/2 or 2-inch diameter) sausage, that requires a very big bite and holds a lot of grease. These are very good. If you like Shipley's kolaches, you will probably like these as well or better. read more

First time here. We stopped by to get some doughnuts and we realized about 5 min down the road we were missing two items which he charged us for. We drive back and we were able to get the doughnuts. Guy was nice about but first tried to tell us he didn't charge us for the two items. Ended up giving them to us. Moral of the story: check your items before you leave. The best donuts ever! They're so light and fluffy. The only downside would be that you feel you can eat a dozen of them. :) I always get the ham & cheese croissant as well - just the perfect ratio of ham and cheese, and the croissant is perfectly crispy on the outside, soft and moist on the inside. My boyfriend is addicted to the jalapeno, cheese croissant kolaches. My son, who typically doesn't like kolaches, will only eat sausage kolaches from Central Donut.
