3.5 Stars. So I am in total agreement with the yelp reviews of Cave Cafe. The food was delicious, the views and grounds of Oak Mountain Winery were beautiful, but the customer service needs work. I found a great Travelzoo deal for lunch for 4 people for $75. The deal included two shareable appetizers, four entrees, and four glasses of wine for $75. They also had a deal for 2 people. I highly recommend purchasing this deal if it is still available! Be sure to make reservations to ensure they have availability before you buy the deal. The restaurant itself isn't huge, it's very quaint, about 8 tables or so, and tables fill up quick especially on weekends. We had a reservation for 12:00pm and was running a little behind. I called ahead to inform them and asked if i can bump my reservation to 12:45pm and they kindly accommodated us with no issues. The gentleman that I spoke to was very kind, so THANK YOU. I wish I got your name. Upon arriving, we were greeted by Kiley the hostess. She greeted us with a friendly smile and showed us to our table, briefly mentioned that we were dining in SoCal's first wine cave, so neat! At this point I thought, wow, the service here is amazing! Welp, the wonderful service basically ended right there. Grant, our server, right off the bat came off rude. I didn't appreciate the way he asked for my travelzoo deal, he was not friendly, he wasn't personable, super serious and zero enthusiasm, I don't think he smiled once during our experience, and it just seemed like he didn't want to be there, or serve us. Like dude, you need some vino, man!! For our wine selections, we had a glass of their Tempranillo, Cab Franc, and Cinful Champagne. The Cab Franc was my favorite. For our appetizer, we ordered the Charcuterie Board which feeds 4 people, so this counted as our one shareable appetizer for the whole table. It was delish and paired nicely with our wines. I also ordered their signature Cheese Pull-apart Bread which was fantastic! A must! For our entrees, we all ordered the Caveman's Tri-tip. Now this is where I became super annoyed with our server. The tri-tip includes mashed potatoes and asparagus, but since most of my dining companions are on the keto-diet, we asked for double asparagus instead of mashed potatoes. Server Grant didn't mention anything about that being an additional charge. It wasn't until SECONDS before our entrees arrived, that he mentioned there would be a "small up-charge" for the asparagus. I said, fine. Whatever. Though, the proper thing to have done is mention that when we first made the request. When the dishes arrived, our "double asparagus" was a total of 6 spears. Wow, seriously? When our bill arrived, the "small up-charge" was $4! $4???!!! For THREE Motherf*****g spears??? I could buy a whole bunch for $1.99 at the market! $1-2 would have been reasonable. But c'mon...$4!?!? Had I known this was the case, I would have just requested for no mashed potatoes. Our server didn't return to our table for another 20-25 minutes. We had to flag another server just to fill our waters and even this guy had a poor attitude. The Tri-tip was absolutely delicious though. Super tender and that sauce was so flavorful. Everything we ordered, wine included, was wonderful. However, due to our server's lack of friendly people skills, and the ridiculous up-charge on our bill, we left feeling very disappointed. My wine companions and I didn't even bother doing the tasting up in their pavilion like we had originally planned. For me, a friendly staff and customer service can really make or break a place. I would probably return just to do a wine tasting at Oak Mountain Winery, but I don't think I'd return to the Cave Cafe. My advice to Management, please re-train your staff to work on their people skills. A friendly smile and great customer service goes a long way! read more

I've been here a few times because this place is amazing! When the weather is nice I love sitting on the patio with my wine & take in the view. Also they are dog friendly! Last time I visited with my boyfriend we sat inside because it was so hot! The cave is super cool- literally the temperature is an awesome escape from the hot Socal sun!! I love the food- they've change the menu a few times so I'm never bored! My go to is usually the sautéed brussel sprouts with the chorizo. I've been several places and no one does it quite like the cave cafe. My bf got the short rib and couldn't stop talking about how good it was! We are both in the industry and the customer service does not disappoint. The food servers are always so nice and attentive! What a super cool place to have lunch! Went there today for the first time and loved it! Being inside the cave with all the wine barrels around was just so cool. But, the food was also great! I had the Cuban panini which had a ton of meats and was pressed perfectly. Today's soup was ham and potato which I've got to say, was the best part of my lunch. So the hubs and I stopped in to the tasting room at Oak Mountain Winery not knowing what to expect. Fortunately they have the Cave Cafe' and what a great place. We were able to "taste" and order some great food; the tempura green beans with sriracha aioli and pesto aioli were crisp and fresh. We ordered the meatloaf burger with pretzel bun. It had a tangy bbq sauce, fried onions, and melted cheese...it was fabulous. The prices were super reasonable and the Oak Mountain Employees were informative and friendly. We went on a weekday for lunch... the tasting room was fairly empty, but the restaurant was busy... so busy that we were seated in the tasting room. Prior to being seated we were asked if we were okay with "a table over there" but having never been there before, we didn't realize they meant outside of the actual restaurant. No one came to our table for several minutes, despite being in clear view of at least 2 employees the entire time. When a server finally did come over, she asked if we were there for a tasting and I told her lunch. She sighed and asked who seated us, and I described the young woman who did. She acted like we did something wrong, and was abrupt with us the whole time. I asked her about wine recommendations based on varietals that I like, and she named ONE wine they had and just stared at me blankly. I wanted to leave, but we had a Groupon and were in Temecula for vacation, so it wasn't like we could just stop by another time. Originally we'd planned to have lunch then do a tasting here, but it was so uncomfortable that we just ate and left. The food was much better than the service... the ricotta flatbread was good, the brussel sprouts were good, and the chimichurri fries were delicious! The winery we visited after this was an entirely different experience... we felt welcomed and enjoyed our tour/tasting! We shipped bottles home from that one! With so many wineries to choose from, I would not recommend this one and I would not return. read more

If I could give 0 stars I would! I had a wonderful day planned for my husband and myself to celebrate our 8th anniversary! I'm writing this as I sit in the parking lot now looking for another restaurant to eat at. We arrived a lil early and were seated right away. After sitting at our table for 15 minutes not one waiter came by to offer water or check on us. Smelled amazing in there but it was crazy busy and the manager in charge of the hostess was talking to the hostess very rude as we walked in. I will never return! Unbelievable horrible experience. Had a 12:30 reservation for lunch here and then a 2pm wine tour. We understood that the kitchen was going through renovation and that the menu was limited heading in. However, by 1:50 and nearly an hour and a half later, our food still hadn't come out. Since our 2pm wine tour was the last one for the day, they had to cancel our food and we headed over to the tour on an empty stomach. Our entire time sitting there, we saw 3 sandwich come out. Really???! Takes an hour an a half to make 3 sandwiches??? And to make matters worse, we only ordered a salad and a mushroom pate. Really, limited cooking required for our food. Call me hangry if you want...but most likely..I'm a drunk from the lack of food before all this wine tasting! read more

This was such a disappointment. The server seemed irritated that we had a discount voucher to use. Then they wanted to upcharge us $12.00 just to substitute mushrooms for pork inside of tacos (we don't eat meat). If the purpose of offering a voucher is to bring in new customers to a business, these guys do not get it at all. Had we felt more welcomed, we would have come back with friends. We've liked coming to Oak Mountian to eat, and we were there yesterday for my birthday. However the service has gone down hill. We waited 20 minutes after being seated just for water. We brought our dogs with us. We asked for water for the dogs, and that never came. (Oak Mountain is normally dog friendly, and normally they get a dog bowl for water.) We ordered the brussel sprouts for an appetizer, and three entrees. Everything came out at once. Normally appetizer comes out first. I ordered the flat iron steak medium rare with scrambled eggs. My steak was missing the topping it was supposed to have, and they had to re-fire my eggs because they came not scrambled. (I had to wait 10 minutes for the server to come around to ask for the re-fire.) We did order a bottle of wine, but the server just put the bottle on the table along with glasses. Normally, they will pour wine into your glass and make sure the selected wine is good. Not coming back Oak Mountain. There are plenty of other wineries that will happy accept my money!!! read more

Everything was absolutely fantastic! The service was top notch. Every single person that worked there was so nice! Not to mention, they treated our dog, Lucy, like a princess. She was given a bowl with ice wafer and served chicken and noodles off the dog menu! We did the cave tour which was given by Mike (M2) , and he was great! The cave is beautiful. The wines were great and the little charcuterie plate they serve on the tour was delicious. Afterwards, we had dinner and Christian was our server. He was super friendly and attentive! We also got to talk to The OG Mike (M1). He didn't wait on us but still checked in on us throughout our visit. I suppose I should talk about the food too. It was great!!! We came here for the first time with the travelzoo voucher and we were disappointed. We had a server that was new & didn't know anything about the wines we had questions about. They just re-read us the description. We also tried to ask for a sample before we decided on a glass, but we were told that they can't give us samples on the weekends to non-members. So we blindly had to pick a glass of wine & hope that we liked it once we got it. We were left with empty waters for long periods of time. The food was also mediocre. Our server also brought out the check right after we had received our food. They didn't even consider asking us if we wanted dessert. All in all, management needs to work with the servers they have. If you are a minority don't come here. Came here on a wine tour. At the time there was only 10 to 12 customers inside of the winery and about as many employees. We got served our first drink and from there we were on our own. Me and my wife were the only minorities there and everyone else was getting served while we were just there. Asked three different people for a another glass all ignored me and were in a hurry to go to the back. If it wasn't for a bartender named Sam I would of left.
