I had the Waffle Breakfast, which comes with two eggs and a choice of protein (I went with bacon). Everything tasted amazing, but the bacon was especially delicious and perfectly cooked...kudos to the kitchen! The coffee was so good we enjoyed every single drop. Prices are reasonable and the portions are generous. The café itself is beautiful, clean, and well-organized. Service was excellent; a friendly hostess sat us immediately, and a huge shout-out to our server, Ruben, who was extremely attentive and kept our coffee cups filled. Inside the Pala casino, the Cafe has a decent amount of choices. Breakfast, lunch and dinner items. Mostly standard diner options. Everyone in your party so be able to find something to eat. But, if not, there's an Asian noodle place and a Mexican place directly across the floor from it. We like the Cafe as you can sit, relax and be waited on (same can be done at the Mexican place). Service can be a bit slow, even when the restaurant is slow. It's at the back of the casino so you can see the slots and occasionally hear them and their excited players. Food is good, not great. But, most of the items we've had before, we'd be willing to order again. If you happen to be in Pala and are getting hungry, take a look at the menu (they have a full menu board directly in front of the restaurant) and hopefully you'll find something that catches you eye. Came here last Wednesday for my mom's birthday!! Before we hit the casino to hit the slots we had To feed my grandmother and mom! My grandmother and I order the steak sandwich which was amazing! As reported by my wife a BLT afficionado: I had a decent BLAT (bacon, lettuce, avocado, tomato on sourdough) sandwich from Pala Cafe. Not great, but not bad. The ingredients were fresh, and the bread was good. The sandwich, for $16, could have used more bacon. They kinda' skimped out on the #1 ingredient. Had the breakfast. I wanted to eat healthier today so I had eggs and turkey bacon. Toast wasn't toasted but still pretty good. Turkey bacon highly not recommended( worst turkey bacon cardboard tasting pieces ever) , my sister had the steak and eggs which was edible but just half the steak was nerves and fat. Also had the biscuits and gravy which were really hard, I would have definitely won a food fight with that biscuit. Food is just bland. Service was good. And eggs were cooked well. Honestly not that bad but the corned beef hash was really mushy and my partners had an actual crisp from being cooked longer. Mine was just a pile of mesh. They also serve the eggs right on top which I didn't find appealing what so ever. I love corned beef hash if it's got a proper crust on it. Just leave it in the pan? Food was good for the area. The ambiance is nice. The table wait might take awhile as it seems to be a low intake area. It took awhile for me to get a table attended with a waiter despite low traffic and I had to circle back. I suggest coming back time to time as their experience seems tailored by customer. I did not have high hopes for anything coming out of a local casino, but I was sadly mistaken after having dinner here the other night. We came for a show, at their indoor venue, and planned to eat beforehand. We had some success at Luis Rey's, but opted to go for a meal, instead of just sides sports bar food (which was pretty good that last time). I ordered a Pala Classic Café Burger with fries. I requested the burger be medium rare. The wife ordered the Pala Club Sandwich with onion rings. I also ordered a side appetizer of their Buffalo Wings. The food came out fresh and in a timely manner. My burger was done to a medium rare as desired, having expected a medium well (just because). The burger was much bigger than I expected and tasted GREAT! The fries were warm and crisp. The wife's sandwich was HUGE, stacked with meats and plenty of bacon. Her onion rings were warm, crisp and not overdone (and not oily). The chicken wings, ten of them to be exact, were perfectly fried with minimal batter. They put the buffalo sauce and Ranch dressing on the side, which I really liked them doing! Sometimes the buffalo sauce is not to ones liking, so having it on the side was a smart way of presenting it. This sauce, however, I really enjoyed, as it was not too "tangy" yet had the mild heat one expects. To say we may have ordered too much food is an understatement, as half the wife's sandwich and several wings ( and a few onion rings) ended up going home with us for later consumption. Yes, I ate the whole burger (which was 10 ounces vs the standard 8 ounces). BURP! Our waiter, Jose, did an excellent job and made the experience that much better! I observed the other wait staff while there and we scored. We sat down after a few other tables, yet were met with such efficiency that we were waited on served before them; I observed one table finally getting served their drinks AFTER their food was delivered; and watched as another table had its meals brought out one at a time. All plastic plates, cups, forks, knives. Not fun cutting a steak with a plastic knife. Then I ordered a $33 ribeye steak and was given what was obviously a New York strip. Ribeyes have more fat and marveling, which is why they are more expensive. That's what makes them more tender. When I confronted the manager, she says "that's our ribeye over here we buy them in a pack". I said, it doesn't matter how you buy them, or what you call it, a NY strip is a NY strip and a rib eye is a rib eye. Not having been to Pala for a long time, we're completely clueless that the famed buffet was no more. Foregoing the kinetic noodle restaurant crowd, we settled in this calmer space. Our comfortable booth in a quiet back corner offered a temporary reprieve from the wafting nicotine odor permeating the smoky casino. Felt unhealthy! It amazes me to see the manager Cynthia has such bad feedback but continues to give guests attitude and nothing happens to her. This place is ok food if you're staying at the casino but they have the STUPIDEST rule about to go orders. Even if you come here and spend THOUSANDS of dollars gambling, the restaurant refuses to put your food in a 1 cent to go box if you're not staying at the hotel or have their food vouchers. The box literally costs cents. Maybe not even 5 cents. There is no rhyme or rhythm as to why this is. It just is. And instead of offering customer service to their guests who are bringing in money when they ask for to go, they give you attitude and refuse to give you your food to go. Speaking to the manager Cynthia was no help and she was full of attitude. I have even offered to pay for the dang box but that's not good enough either. This place is a great example of businesses that do not put their guests first and refuse to acknowledge when they have a dumb rule. I will not be dining here moving forward. Giving me a one cent box would have got them $20 in a food purchase and that would have continued every day I came back. Now it'll be nothing. This place is bad business.
