Saturday August 15, I dined at Bar Meets Grill. As all past reviews suggest, I am an unapologetic fan of the place, of the great place, and of the simply nice and fun people who work there. That has not changed over the years except in the sense it is better each week I am there. Bar Meets Grill is at the hotel end of the casino, looking out on the open space and pool area. One benefit, no smoking -- every non-smoker's dream -- in it or by it. So you can relax, great ventilation and air conditioning where needed, and excellent food without the taint of cigarette or cigar smoke spoiling your evening. It is far enough away from the band for good conversation, open aired, not walled in, to make you feel part of the casino while still enjoying private dining. Saturday night, Fidel took great care of me as always. With visits by Chef Mark, Reed, Sean, Dino, Ashley, Tiffany, Behrooz, Artie, Sarah, Aron and Maryam from hosts and managers, and Marlene, Bobby (a Vikings fan, but outside of Chicago no one's perfect), and Jose from the bar team, I swear if was as if you are dining with family and close friends. And honestly, that's pretty much how it is. The food, well, superlatives are not exaggerations where accurate. A great wine list, with excellent options by the glass, mixed drinks as well. Appetizers preceded by special breads, I went with the BMG salad. Light, lemon vinagrette, chopped, tomatos, onions, just very light and flavorful without being filling. For the entree, it was the ribeye steak, medium rare, baked potato -- old fashion perfect dinner which will never run its time. Chef Mark and Chef Carlos are among the best, and now they have three other chefs, two women, one man, who are learning under them and doing beyond well. They work as a great team together, and want every guest, new or a regular, to love the place and return over and over again. One new chef, Cindy, has been grilling steaks I order of late. The steaks are the best they have ever been, but the preparation and temperature is better than ever. Perfectly cooked week after week throughout the steak. Medium rare is always medium rare, could not be better prepared by Cindy. Baked potato as well. Sometimes you want just great food and nice people -- well, you found it here. Plain and simple, Bar Meets Grill is a great place with even better people. They are upbeat and fun, know the menu and best options, the chefs will offer input, and you then sit back and enjoy. No rushing, no hassles, just time sitting back and having a great evening with a few hours off feeding slot machines, doubling down on a hand and holding your breath, or craps, any other game, and having the best of time alone or with family and friends. Visited yesterday and I can say everything is so detailed. It reminded me of Hell's Kitchen! You can tell staff was specially trained. I believe our waiter was Reed. He gave us suggestions and never made us feel rushed. He was extra nice with our special needs daughter which is always heart warming. I told him my daughter's loaded baked potato was the best one we've ever had. Amazing what can be done to a potato to make it so fancy and delicious. We still have food left over for today's lunch and can't wait for my King Salmon and my husband can't stop raving about his pork chops. I was telling our waiter how entertaining the kitchen was. Giget the front hostess who check us in was really nice and even gave us a tour of the back restaurant called Anila's. We came here to celebrate and the service experience was horrible. we waited more then 45 mins no water refill even when the waiter Fidel brought us food he didn't refill our empty water cups. However all the other Mexicans at the other tables got served. We complained to the head host Maryann worst service she snarled what at my husband. Giget went to find another server who checked on us and filled our water I believe her name was Astrid. As do food wedge salad was room temperature wasn't even crisp like lettuce should be. The spaghetti came with three enormous meatballs that were tender on the inside and the bucatini had a pile of guanciale on top. My only critique of the bucatini was that the guanciale could have been pan fried a little more. While I personally like large pieces of pork fat, it got a little heavy at the end. read more

My husband and I had dinner here last month. We had a meatball appetizer, lamb chops, and linguine with clams. Everything tasted pretty good, but I think I had slightly higher expectations with it being the "upscale" restaurant in the casino. That's ok though, that's on me. Our server was nice and he was transparent that they were short-staffed, so we didn't mind that service was on the slower side. It was a bit dark inside, but big and open. The only thing that I struggled with was the cigarette smoke smell. This restaurant was technically on the non-smoking side of the casino, but the scent really traveled. I had to wash everything when I got home because I'm super sensitive to smoke. We wouldn't go back because of that smell, which I didn't know about beforehand. My fiancé and I had dinner yesterday at Bar Meets Grill and it knocked our socks off We shared a half dozen oysters to start as well as a Fallbrook Syrah wine- both were great! He ordered Chilean sea bass that came with purple sweet potato, green beans, avocado and mango- he loved it. I ordered the Prime rib 3 course meal (Cesar salad, prime rib with potato and green bean, and this amazing flourless chocolate cake for dessert). The service was excellent, the food was delicious, and the ambiance was beautiful. We will be back again. FYI- my fiancé is gluten free and it was no problem If I could change anything, I'd add more than three green beans and a spoonful of potato to the main dish- with these big prices, sure would like sides with it. read more

What a great experience. I had a reservation for just myself and I was seated promptly. I was near the open concept kitchen. Ashley my server was knowledgeable and gave me a great wine selection. I had French onion soup which was delicious. (It's one of my favorites and I'm picky) then I was coursed out with a boneless ribeye steak cooked perfect medium rare, Brussels sprouts and sautéed shrimp . (I forgot the pic of shrimp) this meal was delicious and hit the spot. I finished out with dessert that was just the right size to end the night. I came here with a casino regular. He comes he often to eat and recommended that we ordered several orders of bread. He was not wrong. The bread did not disappoint. They served several types of fresh bread such as a French Bread, an Olive Bread and a Cranberry Bread. The bread is out of this world fresh and delicious. You must order extra. Be careful not to fill up on it though. You've been warned! The Cranberry Bread is the best Lobster bisque is served table side. It's creamy and has the right amount thickness. Solid bisque. Our waitress was Tiffany and she was very attentive and upbeat. She provided very good service. She was very accommodating in brining several orders of bread for our table. I ordered the 8 Ounce Meyer Prime Filet Mignon ($75) and it was good steak and they cooked it to perfection as I requested it cooked medium and it was done just right. We also shared an order of the Carnivore ($22) which included Pepperoni, Sausage and Bacon. We added Mushrooms for additional cost. I knew the pizza would be delicious when I first tried their bread. I made reservations weeks in advance for a party of 12, expecting a seamless dining experience. Instead, we were met with complete disregard. The manager made no effort to accommodate two elderly guests or a member of our party with a disability who required booth seating. Even more frustrating, a child in our group had to sit at a high bar table--clearly not compatible with a booster seat and unsafe. When I politely asked the manager to work with us, he dismissed our concerns with a cold "we have an event" and offered no solutions--no flexibility, no empathy, and certainly no hospitality. To make matters worse, two of our guests had spent nearly $1,200 on a hotel for the weekend to be part of this gathering. We spent almost $700 at this restaurant and walked away with nothing but disappointment. Do yourself a favor and go to Applebee's instead--you'll get better service, better accommodation, and people who actually care that you're there. read more

However, was disappointed to find out they ran out of clams! I guess things happen for a reason. The crew and our waiter were extra sweet and attentive. We even offered to split into smaller groups at separate tables to make it easier for them, but the manager simply said, "I don't want to serve you." IF YOU DONT WANT TO SERVE US FIND A NEW JOB! I had the Futti de Mare, husband and brother in law had the 3course prime rib dinner and sister had the spaghetti and meatballs. Everything cooked perfectly. Delicious! With only a few dining options currently open at Pala Casino and Resort, this is probably the most elegant. The ambiance is fancier. It's further away from the casino action. Wait staff are more attentive. The food options are also much pricier. Though they don't have a drink menu, they get drinks from the bar. The food is excellent and so is the service. My wife and I decided to dine in after a concert. We did make reservations and were seated without any delay. Within a few minutes we were approached by Stephen - our server. We placed our drink and food order and had them out in less than half an hour. Which worked out great since they provide delicious complimentary bread and butter as we waited. We enjoyed a little bit of everything. Appetizers were clams and mussels. Had a Wagyu Burger with pink and a heaping side of garlic fries. The Fruti de Mare was a good size too and very flavorful. By the end of our meal, we were stuffed and couldn't squeeze in a dessert... which ensured we would have to return again lol. Price, value, selection- Bar Meets Grill met all our needs!
