Hidden gem! Wow! I never knew there was such a sincerely cool place in SA that I've driven by so many times. Amazing. Service was absolutely outstanding as our drinks were kept full and never empty. We were checked on through our entire visit. The food came out timely and was soooo absolutely rich in flavor and fresh. Amazing amazingly delicious food. Very very good. The mimosas were great! And extremely fresh! Tasted like the oj just fell from an orange tree! The vibes and ambiance were purely magical and the jazz! Amazing amazing experience and it really made my week coming here as I haven't explored any jazz brunch spots in SA. 100/100 definitely come by!

This was the only restaurant that I tried during my stay at IHG. Although the food is on the $$$ end (because it's an upscale spot), the quality was great! Shout out to James for stopping by and sparking great conversation. Luis and Gabi earned a 5/5 for being so kind and attentive. I never ran out of water or had to call them for anything. Everything was delicious except I did not like the anchovies on my salad lol. Below are the ratings on what we ordered: *Lobster tagliatelle: 5/5 *Caesar salad: 4/5 *Ora King Salmon: 5/5 *Riesling: 5/5 I tried the restaurant towards the end of the day and it was pretty chill // quiet.

Came to celebrate a friends birthday for what we thought was a really nice restaurant, and was met with some snarky comments by the waiter. I don't remember the gentleman name, but he definitely needs an attitude check for what he told my friend. The comment was somewhere along the lines of "We can't do that, This isn't Chili's." I probably would've gotten better service and better tasting food, If I were at Chili's . The food presentation is nice, but honestly, the food has almost little to no actual taste to it. I got a pesto pasta and honestly it tasted like Nothing, and neither did the chicken that came with it as well. Other than the ambience, I honestly wouldn't recommend anyone coming here until they improve their food taste, and perhaps better service on the Waiters.

Cavalier serves elevated food in an intimate, upscale room within a downtown business traveler's hotel. The InterContinental Hotel has had a major glow up and now has a sleek look with a smoky/amber/crystal/brass pallette. The dining room at Cavalier features a cluster of round booths around a pillar; seated there, we enjoyed a bubble of intimacy and conversation. On the burrata salad, the crispy prosciutto was a highlight. We enjoyed our tender steaks with their accompaniments (mashed potatoes, fries, broccolini, etc.). The sautéed mushrooms offered a variety of forms and a rich, savory taste. The cocktail menu includes mocktails flavored with Seedlip mixers. It appears that word has not yet gotten out about how good the food is at Cavalier. Couples looking for a new date night experience owe it to themselves to make a reservation. Validated valet parking is a nice perk, and there is River Walk access nearby.

Loved the ambiance and the fun and variety in the lunch menu. If I could rate it 3.5 I would. I loved the ribeye sandwich but my daughter had the brisket sandwich. The brisket just did not speak or feel like Texas brisket. The fries were cooked perfectly and served nice and hot. The lunch special price was good especially for downtown. I also appreciated them having valet parking available. One of the reasons I rated it four instead of three was I provided them feedback that the brisket was not what I expected. They owned the feedback and offered to rectify it. We passed as we were hungry and thrilled with the ribeye sandwich we had.

My friend and I checked out Cavalier for lunch and really enjoyed their "Express Lunch Special", which included soup, salad or sandwich, beverage, and a cookie. We started out with tortilla soup, which resembled more of a tomato soup with corn, but was seasoned well and very tasty. Next, I had a healthy and delicious citrus salad (endives, frisse, citrus segments, avocado, orange vinaigrette). I am usually not a fan of red velvet anything, but the red velvet cookie served with the express lunch was so good! Our friendly server brought out everything quickly and with a smile. This is a perfect lunch for those on the go or taking their lunch break from the office. I would like to return to try some cocktails and other dishes. Another bonus is that the restaurant is located inside the InterContinental Hotel on SA River Walk and they have free valet parking for restaurant guests. Be sure to check out the pretty decor and ofrenda if visiting the hotel/restaurant this month.

My foodie friends and I decided to try one of the newest downtown upscale restaurants, Cavalier, located inside the Intercontinental hotel. Please note that parking can be an issue due to the downtown construction, but Cavalier will validate your parking if you use the hotel valet. Much appreciated! We arrive on time for our reservation and are seated promptly. After looking over the menu, which has a definite French flare to it, and decide to start off with some focaccia bread, oysters Rockefeller, Caesar salad and a glass of pinot noir for me. The focaccia was divine and didn't last long. The Caesar salad was their take on the classic and they did a good job. They plated in a very colorful way. The oysters are next and are also super flavorful. I can't recall the topping they add but it made it pop with flavor. The pinot noir was also very good. For my main course I go with the braised short ribs with broccolini and truffle fries. The short ribs were tasty and very tender. No knife was needed as a fork easily cut through the meat. The protein sat on top of some mashed potatoes that just soaked up all the brown gravy. The broccolini was a nice side but I really preferred the truffle fries. Very tasty and crunchy. Lastly, I made room for the Hibiscus Pavlova desert. You could tell it took some skill to make this dish. It was very flavorful. Overall, I enjoyed my first time at Cavalier and look forward to coming back and exploring more of the menu.

Attended lunch and absolutely recommend. A quiet and intimate environment. The lunch special is a great deal, for $20 you get half a sandwich with fries and a cup of soup, plus a drink and a cookie. The food is almost too much, I couldn't finish the soup.

Hazelnut and chocolate mouse tart. A la mode is optional, but it doesn't need an ice cream hype!

I had a chopped salad and added shrimp. No pic to share, but the shrimp were large, plump and sautéed perfectly. The shrimp were served on the side. The salad had generous portions of bacon, bleu cheese, corn, eggs, and vegetables and was served with creamy avocado ranch dressing, also excellent! Went back in the evening for desert and had (my description) the chocolate and hazelnut tart. It was both beautiful and phenomenal! Definitely enough to share. An excellent restaurant in a top notch hotel (Intercontinental).

    Ambiance - table for 1

I'm surprised this place wasn't packed! I went there Friday evening and was the only diner. But the ambiance, service, and food were outstanding. This has been my favorite meal in SA so far. Looking forward to going back!

Great ambiance and delicious food! The Supreme de Poulet was seasoned perfectly. Topped off with wonderful service from Paolo! We'll be back.

Great service, great atmosphere. Dropped in while staying at the hotel -- opted for the roasted cabbage to try something lighter and it was amazing! I'm not a vegetarian by any means but I would order this again and again. This will be a staple for me during future visits. Highly recommend.

Then, after the sun set over the Bexar County Courthouse, the curtains were opened and we were treated to a beautiful view of the River Walk. The timing couldn't have been more perfect -- it completely elevated the evening. Service was outstanding. Toryn was our server, and his approach was relaxed, friendly, and professional. He checked in periodically without ever being intrusive, and our water glasses were refilled constantly without us having to ask. The entire front-of-house team worked seamlessly together and made us feel genuinely taken care of. We also were given a lovely bread service. And the food -- absolutely delicious. Over-hyped, over-priced, unfriendly staff, watery drinks and terrible guacamole…read more My wife and I had a very bad experience while dining in this restaurant during the Fiesta San Antonio. Boudros was highly recommended by friends, and was the first restaurant on our list to dine in during our recent visit. We arrived at the restaurant on a Thursday around 7:45 pm and were told by a young Hostess that no walk-ins were allowed until after 9 pm. We decided to modify our itinerary and instead had dinner at a different restaurant on the riverwalk, and made a reservation for Boudros online for the following evening. When we arrived the following evening for our reservation at 7.30 pm, we were escorted to a small table in the bar that was next to the entrance to a small room. The area was noisy with a lot of foot traffic. We asked for a table in a quieter room and were moved to a room in the back of the restaurant where it was easier to have a conversation. A few minutes later our waiter, Stephen, approached the table. We asked him for drink recommendations and among others he recommended the "Prickly Pear Margarita". I ordered the Prickly Pear Margarita, and we also ordered the tableside Guacamole. The restaurant was busy, but there were several empty tables in our dining area. After about 15 to 20 minutes, the waiter brought our drinks. The Prickly Pear Margarita I received was not even close to the description on the menu. The ice was melted and it tasted like Fruit Punch with alcohol in a martini glass. A few minutes later, Stephen approached our table with the Guacamole cart. There were pieces of onions and cilantro all over the dirty table cloth on the cart. He prepared the Guacamole in front of us and it looked very unappealing. We watched as he added an excessive amount of diced onions and cilantro. Being a connoisseur of Guacamole, and making my own for most of my life, it was obvious that Stephen had not been trained well in how to make Guacamole. After he mixed the sliced avocados, the diced onions and cilantro, he wiped the edge of the stone tray with a dirty cloth. The onions and cilantro over powered the taste of the avocado. Later that evening, Stephen brought a very fancy drink for a customer sitting next to us. The drink looked like frozen lime juice with line of frozen strawberry and a nice scoop of frozen lime juice on top. I asked Stephen for the name of that drink, and he replied that it was the same drink that I had ordered. I asked why it looked so different and he muttered something about it being the end of the batch and then said "I'm not the Bartender". He blamed the Bartender for making the terrible drink, and made no effort to correct the problem. Later Stephen returned with our dinner, and as he approached our table, he ordered my wife to "move your glass!" Needless to say she was quite taken aback at his abrupt manner with no please or thank-you. In all the staff did not have a very good demeanor and were very sullen and grumpy. Even asking for directions to the bathroom barely elicited a glance and the needed information. Maybe the staff was overworked because of the number of visitors for the Fiesta, but the terrible, over-priced food, did not make up for the unhappy staff, and we do not plan to return.
