Steps from our hotel, this place absolutely did not disappoint. Wanting a night with white tablecloths, fine service, and a romantic atmosphere, we found exactly that. The cuisine was immaculate from start to finish. The bread alone was unforgettable, followed by a fresh ceviche and Caesar salad that set the tone perfectly. I topped the evening off with a savory halibut served over broccolini that was cooked beautifully. My husband ordered the lobster roll, and after stealing a few bites, I almost regretted my own choice... almost. Enjoying all of this along the beautiful San Antonio River Walk made the evening feel even more special. Romantic is definitely the word I'd use. read more

We visited Ostra in San Antonio twice during our trip, and it quickly became one of our favorite spots in the city. The first time we went, we ordered drinks -- a handcrafted mojito and the Empress 75 -- both delicious and beautifully made. We also had the ceviche and oysters, which were incredibly fresh and flavorful. We enjoyed it so much that we came back again on our last day in San Antonio. That time we stopped in just for drinks and to relax in such a lovely place before catching our train. It was the perfect place to say goodbye to San Antonio. This review is for the bar only. We were visiting San Antonio and venturing through the Riverwalk when the humidity and the crowds just became too much. We decided to duck into Ostra as it looked very inviting from the sidewalk and was not very crowded. We found two seats at the bar. First, the bar itself is very nice. The bright blue lit bar top is beautiful. Our bartenders were Guillermo and Juan. They were both very friendly and attentive. I ordered a dirty martini with blue cheese olives and asked for the martini to be shaken and served very cold. It was served as requested and to the rim. Guillermo delivered. My husband ordered a margarita and he said it was delicious. Not too sweet and it had tajin on the rim. While we ordered additional cocktails, Juan took time educating us on the various tequilas they stock and how certain types of tequilas are used or recommended in various cocktails or should be a sipping tequila. It is an oyster bar and we were offered to taste their oysters although we declined. They have a person who pulls together some impressive. They were quite beautiful. Overall we had a great experience and plan to come back next time we are in San Antonio. read more

A very cool place to hangout and people watch not to mention be treated like royalty while you enjoy the fine dining. The inside seating area is really nice with ample lighting and clean looks. The main reason why I decided to check this place out was mostly down to the location. It's situated on the River and pretty close to the Alamo, As far as the menu goes I think it's well balanced with a good selection of meats and seafood. I particularly like the clam linguini, which was done to perfection. The appetizer was also really amazing with a nice dish of fresh Calamari along with noodles which was well presented. I'd like to give a special mention to our server "Yaya" who really made our visit to Ostra that much more memorable. read more

Stopped in for small plate while taking a walk on the riverwalk. Had Pastrami-Smoked Salmon Latkes and a cup of clam chowder. The 3 latkes were crispy with a very generous amount of salmon topped with sour cream and small amount of caviar. I took one back to my hotel to share and they found it as delicious as I did. The clam chowder creamy and equally delicious with lots of lardon. Only minus was the one " decorative" clam was not released from shell. Wait staff was impeccable and attentive. A friend and I went in for dinner and sat at the bar. I was expecting really great service and memerable food based on other reviews, but I was highly disappointed! We asked what kind of oysters they had in the bartender didn't know. Luckily the chef came out and took some time to talk about the oysters. Once we got them, they were delicious. To go with the oysters we ordered dirty martinis with blue cheese olives. The bartender didn't chill our glass. He also never came back to take our order any further. We finally cashed out and left. I will say, on a positive note, the chef was really nice and knowledgeable and the staffer working on sucking the oysters took some time to talk to us about the seafood he was making. Service is a little slow & sloppy for the prices they ask. Maybe the GM needs to invest a bit more in training if they're trying to be so high end. Girls had no idea of half the menu. No one knew how to properly serve from the right. Asked us to reach for plates & glasses rather than walk around the table to each of us. Host guy looked me up & down and was very pretentiously dismissive (we had been traveling so not in evening wear) not knowing just the two of us were about to drop $600$/800 easily. (Ended up $760). We did the caviar service, seafood tower, wines, port, deserts. But you could get away with under $200 for just a couple drinks and mains. Overall: Food was really good. Great wine selection. Great views. Highly recommend brunch. But Super pricey for what you get at dinner. (Seafood tower was lacking crab clusters by a lot). Chose this place because we wanted seafood for a Friday during Lent and its proximity to the Courtyard hotel. We chose to sit outside and people watched our entire meal. Gilbert was an amazing and attentive server. He did not rush us, refilled our water without our need to ask, gave us the history of the location, and provided recommendations for other activities to do while in the Riverwalk area. Food was also very good, my son really enjoyed the red fish and the lobster roll was on par with what I've had in Boston. We also ordered the Canadian oysters which were very refreshing. I was craving oysters and this DID NOT disappoint. We sat at the bar with Karim and he was absolutely amazing. Even gave us a taste of the ceviche appetizer he had just prepared. While in San Antonio for work, I went down to the riverwalk to find some sustenance. I found Ostra. A beautiful restaurant situated on the riverwalk. The prices are quite steep, but the menu looks amazing, and I love duck fat cooked potatoes and a flat iron steak. The bread arrives at the table with soft butter spri led with what I assume is Hawaiian Black salt. The bread was warm and tasted amazing. I may have been really hungry, but it was good! My potatoes and steak arrived shortly after. By the way, the service was really timely and very attentive. The potatoes were perfectly roasted and seasoned. I wish I could've eaten more. The steak, the flat iron didn't seem right, it looked too thick and small for a flat iron. I ordered medium rare, but I knew it was under when the steak jiggles when I touched a knife to it. I will eat it as long as it's not cold. I cut into it, and it was raw and cold. I hate asking to send things back as I worked in several restaurants after being in the Army and during college. I probably would have taken it home if I wasn't traveling and cooked it there. They did refire my steak, but by that time, the vegetables were cold, the steak was now Medium with just the hint of pink. Everything else was exceptional. read more

It seems online they have their entire menu with what they can have but switch out maybe depending on the season. Great spot near the River Walk for drinks and appetizers. We tried out some Aperol spritzes and fried calamari, which were both excellent. What stood out even more than the food and drink though, was the customer service. We were told by the hostess that technically, outdoor seating is reserved for those eating heavier meals. However, because we were waiting on some members of our party to return from a boat tour and wanted to be attentive and aware of their return, she kindly offered to let us sit outside. Additionally, with the Texas heat, she also offered to turn on the misters for us per our request. The owner also came out to speak with us, which made the whole experience even more personal. I can't wait to return here and experience their hotel and spa. If their restaurant service is already this great, I'm sure they will be top-notch too. read more

It was accompanied by a pad of butter that was sprinkled with what resembled poppy seeds; unusual but delicious, and a delight to spread on bread. The main event followed, a yummy linguini pasta with clams. The sauce was a tasty white wine sauce with bits of red herbs similar to pimientos. It was topped with shredded parmesan cheese. What a wonderful meal, with just the right portion. This was a birthday dinner to treat myself after enduring some stressful past few months. The service was awful, it was like the server forgot that we were there. My son had to go find the waiter. When the food came it was cold and the manager refused to give a discount. The waiter refilled the fries when we informed him that they were cold. Our food had been sitting so when we received it, it was not hot but warm and the waiter and manager blew us off.
